"Ready," answered Shiranui, confident he could beat the gym, but feeling flashbacks from his tenure at the Vermilion City Gym.
Given their propensity for Fire starter final evolutions to be bipedal (or in Typhlosion's case semi-bipedal), I don't think they'd go that direction. Given that they're going for the snake this generation, we're probably looking at a fiery naga.
"Thank you very much, St. Louis!" Donald replied, feeling a rush from the applause he, Sandy and Jeremy got from their performance.
"We'll meet you at the local Pokémon Centre if you still want to fish up a Water type," Shiranui responded, looking to get his Pokémon healed up and ready.
I kind of disagree for this reason: Fuecoco is based in part on the Spanish word for fire: fuego.
Gen-IX just announced with Pokémon Scarlet and Violet on the horizon. The starters are Sprigatito the Grass Cat, Fuecoco the Fire Croc, and Quaxly the Duckling Pokémon. It will be an open-world game more like Breath of the Wild than Legends: Arceus and the region will be based on Spain.

They deviated from the Fire starter theme with this one; although I'm warming up to Sprigatito—it's so adorable.

EDIT: I was wrong—we have the snake next generation.
Donald almost jumped when the stars cued him to appear earlier than expected and thus grabbed his keytar and made his way to the stage.

The stage lit up in a laser show as Donald made his appearance from stage right playing a Van Halen-esque synth riff and wearing something that can only be described as cyberpunk. "Good evening, St. Louis," Donald greeted, "Glad to have this opportunity to play here tonight. Tale it away, Passion Kiss!"
Donald was checking his phone in case Teams Aqua and Magma were closing in on the concert all the while listening to Jeremy sing to the audience. "This thing is being streamed online?!" Donald exclaimed in stage whisper after hearing the announcement.
"Calm down, Donald," Espeon soothed, using her psychic power to lower Donald's stress levels, "Your superstar siblings saw potential in you and this could be your chance to break into the big time. Is your keytar correctly set?"
"Yes, all synth settings are set and ready."
"All you need to do now is wait for your cue," Espeon finished.
"Break a leg, Jeremy," Donald encouraged as he looked over the concert schedule and noted when he would perform. His Espeon was out to help calm his nerves in case of stage fright.
"T-m-m-m-m-minus five, four, three, two, one, mark!" Porygon-Z counted down before materializing from Donald's phone, which Donald now set to vibrate.
"T-minus 30 m-m-m-m-minutes, mark!" Porygon-Z counted down, accounting for its stutter. Donald was busy checking all the technical equipment and making sure they worked as they should. He came out to see Jeremy and Sandy with his keytar strapped to his shoulder. "You guys ready?" Donald asked, "I'm as ready as I'll ever be." He was feeling a little nervous on account of this being the first time he performed in a concert.
