she/her pronouns. I'm interested in a wide variety of roleplays, but I tend toward prefering High Fantasy and High Sci Fi settings (think Elder Scrolls or Warhammer 40k). Whether it's a Nation Roleplay (I love digging into fictional politics) something on a smaller, individual scale, or something in between, there's a good chance I might be interested! I especially enjoy fantasy setting with weird, esoteric fluff - up to and including the nonsense that happens in Elder Scrolls, or, occasionally, Age of Sigmar.

Fave settings /period/ are Warcraft, and Golarion. WH40k and AoS are close.

It is 57th galactic year, nearly 400 years since the human race became the first to travel faster than light. Their technology spread throughout the galaxy as they flourished, as pioneers at the forefront of technological advancement. Many men and women struck out to form their own great nations, many of which survive to this day. Yet, although humans are powerful, they are not the only inhabitants of our Milky Way galaxy. There are many others; many more who thrive and prosper as they do. There are many, perhaps dozens of other nations in the galaxy, some forged by warfare, others by business and trade, and others by religion. The majority, of course, by a slew of complex factors.

In the 57th galactic year, millions will die, and great empires will fall, just as new ones will rise. Whether it is through war, economic woes, political machinations, or the chaos of the universe itself, there will be great change. The Milky Way Galaxy, and perhaps the universe itself, will remain forever changed.

Welcome to Amongst Living Gods, a Sci-Fi NRP that I've been working on in an interest check for nearly two weeks now. Despite the title, there aren't any omnipotent beings in this RP - just the multitude of mortal beings that inhabit it. The point, essentially, is to avoid the typical cliches you see in Sci-Fi - or, if the cliches exist, to do something with them that hasn't been done before. I'm trying to make a roleplay that's unique, and is going to last. You'll find the app sheets below. Despite the fact that some people might have long posts and apps, I encouraged anyone to join - as long as you're able to say things in a relatively interesting, readable way, you've most likely met the requirement. Quality is the key, not just quantity.

For the below apps, know that you can include extra things that fit outside of the categories listed if you want. The first IC post will be up soon!

Any issues with it so far?
The OOC/IC is going up. I'll also be getting an opening post out tonight.
If everyone's okay with it, I can start the OOC tonight
Well, yeah, I do. If anyone here can prove to me that they're a good writer, and I get an idea of their nation, they're in.

Edit-Gorgen, I know that you -are- a good writer, but I'd still like that your app at least tells people about your nation. Not, like, every little bit of history, but enough information to give an idea.

Doubleedit-New apps. Thoughts?

Drop the longing to make humans juggernauts in the RP and simply go with the idea that every faction is more or less capable of great destruction. Unless you have someone in this RP trying to waltz in here with cannons that fire singularities and starship armor comprised of pure neutron star matter, everyone is more or less going to be on the same playing field.Once a civilization achieves FTL technology and has the ability to traverse planetary systems with relative simplicity, you're looking at a species that can throw around firepower in excess of the teraton range.War with care is all I say.

In regards to what I've said, I brought the issue up with someone else, and it's been solved. I don't know why, but I saw reverse-engineering as a shameful thing for humans to need to do. For those who suggested that before, that is the solution I've been convinced to srrive at. Essentially, what's going to happen is that humans will discover or capture more advanced alien technology, but, instead of directly copying it, they use it as a base to go down their own path.
Got a few announcements.

Skylar, would you be okay with my human nation providing military assistance to the Athens colonies? Earth's reaction to that sort of conflict would probably be fairly aggressive.

In addition-I've run into some troubles in regards with humans. Partly because of how old some of the aliens are, I'm having trouble justifying humans being able to militarily compete with them without them, by some weird chance, happening upon a badly crippled yet moderately advanced alien empire that nobody else has beaten them to the punch at. You can see the issue here - that solution really conflicts with one of the main points of this RP, namely being that humans are fearsome/powerful in their own right, not because some aliens took pity on them, or because they happened upon a stockpile of alien weapons, or for whatever other reason. The only solutions I can think of would either be making humans adaptable enough that they develop technology extreme quickly (which would evidently present a lot of problems one we get into the RP and humans have time to develop further), force everyone else to make their nations a lot younger, or breaking the aforementioned rule. If someone has a better solution, I'd be glad to see it.
The OOC will probably be going up Saturday, at the latest. I'll be choosing at least one mod, likely more, before the IC starts, so anyone that is interested should notify me.

This might be an extremely stupid question, but who are these gods?

It's more a figurative thing. Like, essentially, living beings - us - are the 'gods' of this universe. The ones who can change things.
I'm more talking about, say, Vulcan in terms of appearance. Humans with no changes except pointy ears.
