she/her pronouns. I'm interested in a wide variety of roleplays, but I tend toward prefering High Fantasy and High Sci Fi settings (think Elder Scrolls or Warhammer 40k). Whether it's a Nation Roleplay (I love digging into fictional politics) something on a smaller, individual scale, or something in between, there's a good chance I might be interested! I especially enjoy fantasy setting with weird, esoteric fluff - up to and including the nonsense that happens in Elder Scrolls, or, occasionally, Age of Sigmar.
Fave settings /period/ are Warcraft, and Golarion. WH40k and AoS are close.
Held Territories: Silvermoon City, Eversong Woods, The Ghostlands, the Isle of Quel'Danas, and Thalassian Pass.
Other Assets: The Sunwell is a fount of mystical power located in the Sunwell Plateau, on the Isle of Quel'Danas. While its waters, holy to the high elves, were originally pure arcane power, it has since been restored as a fount of both arcane and light energy.
Goals and Motivations: The High Elves has longed to live in peace and be left to their own devices. Since the advent of the Scourge, and their assault on the Gates of Silvermoon, the High Elves has committed themselves to destroying the Scourge and purging any trace of the plague from the lands of men.
Recent History: The Scourge invasion of Quel'Thalas was a savage and bitter fight against an enemy that took no prisoners and raised those that fell against it. Strength of arms alone was not enough to prevent the invasion and the bulk of the war fell to the Magisters.
These Mages, supported by the armies of the High Elves, wielded incredible magical power, largely in the form of fire and light magic, and were able to stem the invading tides. In a bid to prevent the raising of any further dead the High Elves were forced to destroy the bodies of their fallen comrades and even exhume their dead and burn those bodies as well. It caused considerable cultural shock to the High Elves who had been burying their dead in intricately carved water proof coffins for generations.
The Kings only son, Kael'thas Sunstrider, was disowned during this period for failing to return home and aid in the defence of his kin, citing instead his "Duty to Dalaran". Kael'thas no longer bears the name Sunstrider and has been all but purged from the Kingdom and its history. King Anasterian Sunstrider has since begun the process of selecting a new heir.
Three and a half years after the failed Scourge attack the High Elves remain behind their defences preparing to march forth and repay the damage done to their lands. Bands already ride and fly beyond the lines to skirmish with the Scourge and probe for weaknesses in the enemy lines.
Relations with the Human and Dwarf Kingdoms to the South are decent at this time as they work toward dealing with a mutual foe.
Key Players:
Anasterian Sunstrider
Faction: Quel'Thalas
Rank/Role: King of Quel'Thalas
Appearance: King Anasterian is described as a highly aged man, with long white hair and a pale complexion, his skin thin and his tone having long turned soft. However, his powerful voice still carries the unmistakable hints of his authority. He has piercing blue eyes that had not been diluted by the pangs of advanced age, though little else has been spared of his once slender and powerful body. His anger flaring, even at such an age, is fearsome to behold.
Personality: Anasterian is a fiercely proud monarch who has prioritized Quel'Thalas's interests above all else. Despite owing a blood debt to humanity for their part in the Troll Wars, Anasterian has hesitant to assist the humans against the Horde, seeing no threat to his own kingdom, and only truly dedicated resources to the conflict when his own people were threatened once more.
Surrounded by flatterers, Anasterian is wise enough to treasure those who speak the truth to him. Anasterian never failes to acknowledge those who had fallen in defence of the people. However, he has been known to dither on crucial decision-making, and, most damningly, mistake ignorance for protection - so long as Quel'Thalas did not involve itself in the world beyond, its problems would not become theirs.
Biography: Still reigning over Quel'Thalas at the time of the Third War, despite his advanced age, Anasterian spared little thought for the plight of the humans in Lordaeron; true to the past, believing it to be a human issue than the high elves would not deign to trouble themselves with.
Imagine his shock when the Scourge assaulted the Elfgate and undead warriors appeared everywhere within his borders. Desperate for any aid he could find, he issued a recall for his son, Prince Kael'thas Sunstrider, from Dalaran and sent word to the Humans of the attack. To the shock of all, the Humans actually attempted to send aid while Kael'thas chose to remain in Dalaran citing his "Duty to Dalaran". The Scourge were ultimately driven back at considerable loss to the High Elves and a furious King disowned his son and stripped Kael'Thas of the Sunstrider name.
Since then the King has ordered several scholars to begin efforts to track down any illegitimate children he may have, rumoured to be in the dozens, and find a suitable blood relation to inherit the throne.
Powers and other Abilities: Anasterian had the skills of a warrior and is still a powerful mage. He is to weak to wear plate armour anymore but still wields his weapon of choice, the runeblade [Felo'melorn]. He favours fire magic and protects himself using various magical flame shields. He also knows how to teleport.
Sylvanas Windrunner
Faction: Quel'Thalas
Rank/Role: Ranger-General
Appearance: Sylvanas has waist-length blonde hair that "flows like water" and is "translucent in the light of the sun". She takes great pride in her appearance: It isn't good enough to be the best hunter in her family. She needed to take everyone's breath away as she ventured out. She was so very vain. Her eyes are "more gray than green or blue." Even by high elven standards, the second of the three Windrunner sisters is a rare beauty. Lords from countless noble houses have sought her hand. Even Prince Sunstrider was said to have desired it before his fall from grace.
Personality: In her early life, Sylvanas was a prodigious ranger, proud and vain—and pragmatic. As the ranger-general, Sylvanas, like many of the quel'dorei, held the belief that it was a mistake to teach magic to humanity; though she was also of the opinion that Quel'Thalas would do well to coexist with the other races of the world, and to practice tolerance. She is somewhat vain at times - what elf isn't - but is not so foolish as to think she can survive simply by her looks. An excellent soldier, she makes a poor stateself and does her best to steer clear of politics.
Biography: After the high elves withdrew from the Alliance, Sylvanas and her rangers were the primary guards against any would-be attackers on Silvermoon. Several years later, Arthas Menethil, the betrayer of Lordaeron, arrived unexpectedly on the doorstep of Quel'Thalas with a horde of undead at his back. Kelmarin, one of Sylvanas' scouts, quickly informed her of the swarm of undeath fast approaching the first Elfgate. Sylvanas organized her Farstriders, and went to observe the despoiler of Lordaeron herself.
In the savage fighting that followed, Sylvanas, supported by the King himself, was able to wound the mighty Undead leader badly enough that he was hustled from the battlefield. Though it aided the war, and certainly prevented the collapse of the Elfgate, it did nothing to stop the onslaught.
Sylvanas did not leave the front for the better part of two years as she walked among the soldiers, inspiring and leading them to victory. The King was as present as she was but lacked her charisma and youth and she earned the nickname "Saviour of Silvermoon"; a title bestowed upon her eventually by a grateful King.
Since the war, Sylvanas has continued to serve the King. Her contributions have led to some beginning to suggest that she be named the Kings heir and succeed him as the first Queen of Quel'Thalas.
Powers and other Abilities: Sylvanas is skilled at archery and single sword combat.
Appearance: Antonidas is an aged man, his flowing white beard looking like it would fit more in Ironforge than in Dalaran. His skin is somewhere between the sun-kissed peach tone many Dalarani find themselves bearing and the anemic paleness of elderly all across the Eastern Kingdoms. Surprisingly not suffering any natural hair loss, the man nonetheless has come to shave his scalp such that his wizarding skull-cap may fit more easily. Though hidden under mounds of wrinkles and facial hair, one can see the patrician nose and chin the wizard held. He has always been a man for dress that is practical rather than fancy, but being a wizard of his calibre has lead to the man inevitably achieving glamour in all his outfits with the sheer volume of crystals and rare earth minerals donning robes with runes of power covering all the eyes can see..
Personality: Antonidas is a changed man. In the past he was haughty, self-righteous, and boorish. However, despite this he was a good man at heart as most Dalarani wizards. He sought to use his great talents to ultimately better the world, even if his definition of a better Azeroth differed from that of many. Nonetheless, he showed himself capable of great mercy and the ability to see past prejudice when he was almost the sole figure to advocate there could be some sort of good within the Orcish race. He was always a chipper fellow, eager to chat with his students or to attend a feast with foreign dignitaries.
Nowadays that old enthusiasm is faded almost entirely. His encounters with the strange prophet followed by witnessing so much carnage and destruction had made the man pause and rethink all of his values prior. This was made much worse when he toured the lands that had pleaded for the protection of the Violet City’s wizards. He saw people trudging through muck and dying to mundane poxes, not to speak of being nigh helpless against the scourge, wild trolls, and whatever else lurked to prey on peasantry. The proverbial cherry on top was seeing the High Elves he had previously only encountered the nobility and warriors of, now displaying their own peasantry and suffering among the many refugees that had their homes outside the Elfgate ravaged.
With this he has fallen into a depression of sorts, no longer lecturing at the Academies or taking any apprentices. The Archmage finds his mind second guessing himself more and more, uncertain what the future may yield and how to prepare for it. Fear for Dalaran and the whole of Azeroth has him brood for most of his time, planning for eventualities in an almost paranoid fashion.
Biography: Having witnessed his preconceptions crumbling in the aftermath of his brief chat with Medivh, Antonidas decided that he needed Dalaran to act lest it be swallowed by the same darkness that nearly took over Quel'Thalas.
The Gates to the Violet City were thus opened by the Archmage, the masses of people fleeing from Quel’Thalas and Lordaeron free to enter. Yet Antonidas quickly found that his kindness was too little and too late, with the city unable to take them all in. His mind souring even further with this realization, he was still intent on doing right by the masses stuck outside of his city. Though he never expected or even wished to be put in such a role, he found himself having the great stress of having to go from managing a city-state to an Empire nearly overnight. As word spread of villages having been taken under the protection of the wizards such that they could feed the many thousands of displaced people, mayors from much of former Lordaeron reached out to plea to receive the same protection that their settlements were now bereft of with the death of Uther and King Terenas.
Though often he is congratulated for rising to the occasion, his smiles and responses of gratitude are often hollow. Even as stability in the material front and on the borders has been achieved to some degree, Antonidas now ponders the more political questions of Dalaran and the other Kingdoms with much concern. As he must balance the concerns of the new population of “Greater Dalaran”, his core constituents in the Violet City, and appeasing allies abroad he finds himself concerned that all the work of the last few years could collapse on itself. Further, as the years keep accumulating he finds that neither he nor the other leaders of Dalaran are finding themselves exactly sure who will succeed him a fact raising yet more concern when Antonidas doesn’t find himself trusting any of the present Kirin-Tor in entirety to keep the patronage of the people he took personal pity upon.
Powers and other Abilities: Antonidas is quite likely the most powerful wielder of magic that isn't a dragon, a claimant to Godhood, or the recipient of a God's donated power. While all these conditional statements do diminish the impressiveness of his power, he is nonetheless capable of doing with a waggle of his fingers and a few mystic incantations what many would need a great deal of firepower and time to achieve. Yet violence is far from his sole use of magic, for he has mastered all disciplines of it he could. He could teleport ranks and columns of people, while also saving lives from the brink of death with a touch. Though never practicing it, he has learned of necromancy and the fel, a fact he fears could be used against his own people should the Scourge get its rotting hands on his corpse.
Physically he is infirm owing to his advanced age, but he still keeps an excercise regimen as all wizards of Dalaran to be a spry old coot. However, far more important is that when needed he augments his physical abilities with his magic in the event that, for example, he finds need to run away from something and cannot teleport away.
consider your Dalaran app(s) to be accepted, though I need you to talk about map stuff with @Erezrim/MuscleWizard
Edit: Something else i noticed. Sorry for the walkback. Will msg you on discord.
A voluminous bellow echoes through sandstone caverns, as the earth shakes and creaks beneath the incredible aura of magic which erupts from the east. A shadow descends from the North, but a nexus has collapsed; a rarified existence is born.
Brassy scales become shaken by a terrible tremor that echoes throughout Azeroth.
Breathing heavily, a weary sigh shakes the sand before the nostrils of the beautiful ancient being which rises from its slumber. The mist of ancient oaths and worn-down sigils fades from its eyes.
A wizened tone grumbles, its timbre shaking the walls of its hidden home in the desert: “Something has happened. Something great…something…strange.”
A voice cries out, one the same as its audience: “Indeed, something has happened. We are determining what precisely, but you, myself, we must be aware of what shall pass.”
In reply, a humble acceptance: “Time is a flat circle in which we are bound. I will seek out our solution; should we expect the worst?”
No reply would satisfy a mortal’s heart…this the creature knew. What would this mean for him? For the world as they knew it? To all the things they were responsible for? What of the End? The Beginning?
The Great Demons have been vanquished, but the world has yet to come to this conclusion; it is the same yet altogether its own. Spiraling, a man has died, the stream is diverted, the river flows to dry lands.
But no harm…all things are as they have been, as they will be, as they need to appear. A new life…a new path? It is…chaotic…it is…liberated…
“Chromie…” Nozdormu coughed… “daughter…come…I need you to do something for me.”

Dawnstar Spire.
Staring up at the towering structure, some dozen meters down the winding cobblestone path leading up toward it, Aranaeyl remembered the place as one of horror -- the hive of villainy from which the downfall of Quel'thalas was orchestrated; Dar'khan Drathir's lair and the place in which he concocted his schemes and simmered against the supposed injustice of not being named the Grand Magister.
It was still that, for now -- in a manner of speaking. Many things were different, of course.
Dar'khan's arcane guardians, constructs typical of nearly every Magister's home turf, still did mill about the structure -- but they didn't spark and spit arcane energy, falling apart at the seams. They went about their duties as usual, as if nothing was amiss... Because it wasn't. The metal making up their bodies shone brightly with a fresh coat of polish, guarding the lifelong home of one of Quel'thalas's most famous, powerful Magisters.
But Aranaeyl knew differently. She lived the truth, and the consequences of what Dar'khan would become. She watched her friends and family be torn to bloody ribbons by slavering ghouls -- her mother, by Sylvanas's side, and her father, in a desperate but vain attempt to protect her and her siblings.
She remembered fleeing to the northwest in a desperate attempt to find refuge in the floating Duskwither Spire, narrowly avoiding the Scourge at every turn.
She remembered staring helplessly as Silvermoon burned in the distance, knowing that she would never see her aunts and cousins and uncles again; that her favorite candy shop and the kindly old woman who ran it would be dead next she saw her, and that she might never get to see her riding tutor again.
She remembered knowing, in her heart of hearts, that death would be a mercy for many of them.
Sighing, she extracted a small glass vial from an elementium lockbox at her hip, filled with shimmering golden sand, the bright blue glow of her eyes reflecting off of each individual grain. For several moments, all she did was stare, before finally shaking her head and stuffing the vial back into its hiding place.
No point in dilly-dallying, she silently reminded herself. She had everything she needed, after all. Stolen documents from another Dawnstar that would hopefully prove Dar'khan's guilt, a courier's disguise, and the package on her back that would change Azeroth forever.
One foot after the other, she began to move toward the Spire. If she was lucky, the Magister himself wouldn't come to greet her... But that meant making sure she could get close enough to the spire to plant the explosive in the first place
Mere moments after starting to move again, one of the tall ceramic constructs turned toward her, the brightly-glowing blue lines forming the runic bindings on their bodies lighting up the night. She could see the crystals joining their parts to their torsos, too -- tall, angular things, far less harsh than she remembered. The glowing filigree was much more consistent, too -- none of the empty carvings she remembered from her time.
The broad, blue, horizontal slit across the construct's face pulsed as it approached her, a cold, robotic voice booming out from its face.
"CEASE YOUR APPROACH AND STATE YOUR PURPOSE IMMEDIATELY."
The Reaver echoed -- and so Aranaeyl did, freezing in place.
"I'm a courier!" She replied, breath quickening. Would she need to try to slay the Magister herself? She was skilled with the blade, sure, but he was an incredible mage, and a cunning one, too...
"I have a package for the Magister, from Commander Lor'themar Theron!" She said, reaching into her pack to extract a large, jeweled box -- nearly a foot long and half as wide, covered in the blue-gold colours of Silvermoon.
The construct approached her, spending a handful of moments staring at the box -- scanning it, she imagined -- and then, apparently satisfied, snatched it from her hands and wordlessly proceeded back inside.
Letting out a sigh of relief, Araneyl turned, wearing a small smile as she left at a brisk walk. Her part was done -- now, all she had to do was wait, and hope that the Magister wouldn't notice the true nature of the package until it was too late. It was something he he surely wouldn't recognize, but the elemental fire it was infused with...
Pausing, Aranaeyl glanced back over her shoulder.
"YOU IDIOT! USELESS GOLEM! IT'S A-"
Suddenly, the whining traitor's tirade was broken by a sharp crack, and a bright flash of angry light that bathed the forest in red. She felt her skin grow hot, as if burning, trees all around the spire sparking, all while a pathetic flash of purple light emanated from within the tower. An attempt at teleportation... Foiled by that Gnomish dispelling device, no doubt. Just as advertised.
Then, just as suddenly, the entire spire was engulfed in flame, and Aranaeyl felt the air being sucking out of her lungs, forcing her to the ground in a desperate attempt to protect herself. There was a great, roaring sound, like that of an entire city aflame...
Then a violent boom as the entire spire spontaneously combusted in elemental fire, arcane crystals melting into bright red magma, all while raging fire elementals emerged from the wreckage.
Aranaeyl smiled, rising to her feet.
Selama ashal'anore, she thought.
Welcome to the OOC for Tales of Azeroth: Flames of Chaos, a character-focused grand scale roleplay set in another Azeroth, three and a half years after the failed Scourge Invasion of Quel'thalas. Many things are similar, but others are very different, all because a single Elf decided to right the suffering of her people.
The Burning Legion, stripped of much of its leadership by its violent disappearance, is wild and leaderless. Fel corruption ravages Desolace from Mannoroc Coven and Thunder Axe fortress, threatening the Night Elves to the north.
The Scourge, likewise, ails -- its back was broken by the offensive against Quel'thalas; met by constant Farstrider harassment, it was unable to penetrate deeply into the Eversong Woods, its rapid expansion turned into a brutal, gruelling quagmire at the impenetrable Elfgates and the incredible might of Silvermoon's Magisters. Deprived of Kel'thuzad, there was little they could do aside from shallowly penetrate into the Eversong before being forced to retreat and consolidate in Lordaeron, scheming to subvert the Quillboar in an attempt to make inroads on Kalimdor, all at the behest of the new Lich King, Arthas, who was forced into his position by the sudden weakening of Ner'zhul as his connection to the Shadowlands vanished.
The Old Gods, however, still threaten to awaken, their masters, the Void Lords, hardly impeded by the gulf of emptiness separating them from this reality.. The titan watchers are thrown into chaos, granting them further opportunities to spread their admittedly weakened influence, this shard's Algalon halted from purging the planet only by the fact that the true Azeroth exists elsewhere, thus making re-origination unnecessary, though the threat is still monitored closely.
The Broken Isles -- and the Shal'dorei -- stand on a dangerous precipice, Elisande having potentially discovered through her time magics that her city is finally safe from the Legion, free to spread her influence without worry of being obliterated by the demons.
The Mists of Pandaria -- the final black mark on Emperor Shaohao's legacy -- have abruptly faded, blown apart by the enormous release of magic created by the violent discorporeation of the Legion's most powerful commanders, leaving Pandaria exposed to the rest of the world for the first time in ten thousand years.
The Dark Portal, exposed to the very same release of magic, has abruptly re-opened, wrenching an equally unintended fractured Draenor into being, offering whole Tempest Keep and its Draenei inhabitants an unexpected lease of life.
This Azeroth's Nozdormu, having realized the unintentional nature of this Azeroth's existence, wrestles with the reality of whether or not he can allow it to exist -- and the Dragon Aspects, still as powerful as they ever had been, return to the Dragon Isles decades early, convening on the nature of their duties, Malygos's role still in question, the Aspects grappling with their role in this false world.
Everything else (and the specifics of the above) are for the writers to decide, barring what I specify. In essence -- I'm providing a framework for the state of Azeroth, but only that -- a framework. Think of this as a pseudo-nation RP where you control organizations and nations through important people like Maxwell Tyrosus, Go'el, or people who might have taken their places. Multiple players can fit into a faction, of course, and are encouraged to do so -- Cairne and Thrall, for instance.
Writers will be heavily encouraged to take on roles of great import, to fill out the essential spots in the world, ar least at first. Some -- even many -- will be canon characters, but you're more than encouraged to field proposals for OCs and where/how they'll be involved. Either way, I expect decently hogh-effort applications. This doesn't mean you need to give me an essay for each character (frankly, I'd prefer to not need to read a novel!), of course, but I reserve the right to reject applications when the time comes for the full RP. Currently, the plan is to start approximately four years and six months after the start of the Third War, and about three and a half years after the Scourge was forced out of Quel'thalas by the High Elves, having failed to penetrate the first Elfgate.
1. Don't be an asshole. No transphobia, racism, harassment... You know the drill.
2. NSFW content must stay in NSFW channels.
3. As the GM, I will occasionally push things forward be making certain events happen, or by doing certain things with certain characters. Thanks to @Ezekiel for the inspiration for this metholodolgy! If you feel like the event is unfair in some way or have your own ideas for events and the life, please feel free to get in touch with me!
4. On the topic of activity requirements, while I don't have anything strict in mind as of the interest check, I will be keeping an eye on things -- if I feel that you're not contributing enough, I'll approach you for a discussion. Important nations and organizations will have a closer eye kept on activity. I expect to be informed of extended abscences of more than a week, however. IRL can easily be accomodated for!
5. Try to avoid map-painting. This is a collaborative writing project, not a competitive game -- conquests must be handled in a thought-out way that makes sense in-universe. You can't just conquer all of Gilneas in a single post if nobody's playing it. Take NPCs seriously.
6. On the above note, conflicts involving large NPC factions -- particularly external ones -- will require some degree of GM involvement. Don't go tossing the VanCleefs into the ocean or the Void Lords into a Holy Blender without asking first.
7. Discord participation, once it goes up, IS NOT required, but is encouraged -- it's a good medium for quick plot planning.
8. Even though you must be at least 18 to participate, we're still sticking to Guild rules, of course.
Here's where I'll clarify things people are unsure about and provide answers to likely questions.
1. Do I need to have played WoW or Warcraft to join the RP? Not at all! I'm more than happy to help fill in knowledge gaps, too. When is the point of divergence? During Arthas's conquest of Lordaeron, but before his invasion of Quel'Thalas. Everything before happened as is normal. Everything after is free game.
2. Which extraplanar beings are dead? Off the top of my head, Kil'jaeden, Tichondrius, Balnazzar, Mannoroth, Archimonde, and any other demon that was stated in lore to be "permanently killed" or something to that effect. Zovaal is also gone, as there's only one Shadowland(s). The same is true of other 'extraplanar' beings; Sargeras, being a Titan, is still imprisoned in the true timeline, but the Watchers still exist in this Azeroth. Elune is still accessible to the Night Elves, but there's still only one of her
3. How should we handle unspecified things in the lore? You're able to fill in blanks in backstories as you please, with GM approval, even prior to the PoD, as long as it doesn't change anything up to that point.
4. What year is it? 25 years After Dark Portal (ADP), around the time WoW starts.
5. Is this an alternate timeline? No -- it's a pocket timeline, akin to Draenor in Warlords of Draenor. The true Azeroth, concurrent with Dragonflight, still exists. That said, interactions with the true Azeroth need GM approval, barring the presence of being that can freely move between the two, like demons of the former Burning Legion.
6. What are the vignettes for? Setting the scene, and, in one case, describing the point of divergence. Please read them!
7. Is there a required post length or application length? No, not specifically, but I generally expect multiple paragraphs. Requirements on apps are not as stringent, considering that we're dealing with an established canon, but I will be evaluating the understanding of canon in them fairly closely!
8. Can I play a character within someone else's nation! Absolutely! As long as you have their approval. In such a case, both they and a GM (currently just me) will have to approve your app.
I'll usually require an application for the organization/nation(s) you play, along with a character application for the leader or initial primary PoV character.
Remember: this is Azeroth, a realm of heroes, villains, and other great personalities -- these people are the focus, even at this scale!
In the case of, say, the Argent Dawn, I'm not going to require an app for every single important person, of course -- one (or as many as you like) is more than enough. For other dramatis personae, a small explanation in your Nation/Org app will suffice. Flags and emblems and other representative images are welcome but not required.
Post apps in the OOC prior to approval.

Claimed Entities: Scarlet Crusade/Argent Dawn, Gnomeregan, Red Dragonflight, Gilneas, Dalaran, the Kaldorei and Green Dragonflight, Quel'thalas, Khaz Modan, Ogrimmar (note, leaders of the Horde other than Thrall are still playable!)
I've played all the RTS games and WotLK but I'm somewhat ignorant of the new lore (though I have skimmed through the wiki to try get a base idea), but since most of the point of divergence seems to be "higher level" so hopefully I should be fine sticking to just what was depicted in Reign of Chaos for Dalaran
EDIT: By the way, how many "creative liberties" could we take, particularly given its an alternate timeline/universe? I.e. a lot of the characters that would be important to the story of Dalaran i.e. members of their council have rather barebones, unclear, or even conflicting lore.
That depends on the given character, I guess. I'd encourage you to fill in gaps, that said!
Edit: to clarify, yesz feel free to fill in backstories that aren't, well, filled-in.
Ah I see, there were multiple references in the post suggesting that things were happening faster than they did in canon (like returning to the dragon isles) so presumed it hadn't been that long since the divergence. Given that the events of Legion have already happened in the main timeline I suppose this now makes more sense. I'll admit it's a bit of a shame for me because I feel like the masters of the Legion could be interesting characters to still have bumping around but I get the decision.
I'm thinking I might combine the elf idea with the dragon idea to play something of a more formalised alliance of Kaldorei and Green dragons protecting Kalimdor from the new arrivals of the Alliance and Horde, as I would imagine the orcs and humans that fled the North would still have ended up there.
Also interested in something to do with an alternate group of Sunfury Elves and/or Kul Tiras but I'd be happy to wait to see what other people want to write or maybe even collab those with someone. Don't want to hog all my favourite bits right from the bat.
I'llbe sure to clarify those things when the actual OOC goes up, but for everyone else, be aware that things are happening CONCURRENTLY with Dragonflight; eg. This pocket dimension was created by a time traveller from "present" day.
Don't see any issues with either of those concepts, though. I'm a bit dragon-biased, admittedly! I'll likely be doing a few things myself -- Alexstrasza, most likely, plus a more traditional nation. Perhaps Gilneas, or Gnomeregan, an all-time favourite of mine.
I imagine I'll do something dragon related, but I am also a big fan of all shades of Warcraft elf and then also Kul Tiras.... decisions decisions.
The removal of the Legion as a unified body brings up the question of if fel magic/demons are still a thing at all? I think cutting them entirely out wouldn't be ideal, I find warcraft demons and fel a pretty fun play on the usual fantasy demons/corruption tropes and it would be a shame to completely remove them. Blood elf vibes for the win.
EDIT:
Collecting my thoughts a bit more on this, I'm not sure why the One Legion thing would mean that the Legion in this timeline would be cut off, as we see in WoD and both Karazhan instances its not that the Legion is only interested in main Azeroth its that they are pan-reality. Until the Legion is defeated on Argus in the main timeline surely they would still be a substantial threat?
Thanks for bringing these things up -- this is a good opportunity for me to clarify a few things.
Fel Magic -- and the Twisting Nether -- are still absolutely things, and considering what you've said, I do think I'll amp up the threat level of demons somewhat, though my intent IS that this takes place concurrently with Dragonflight, timeline-wise. My bad for not making that clear in the OP.
In essence, what you have here is a WoD situation -- a pocket dimension that is concurrent with Azeroth rather than being an independent timeline. A number of the more important demons are still alive -- Detheroc, for example. Any demon that wasn't slain in finality in the true timeline.
This is my longwinded way of saying that demons are still a threat, particularly the Dreadlords, but they don't have some of the big guns backing them up or giving them orders.
she/her pronouns.
