Section #1: Jig Being Right

It has come to my attention, that I am primarily right and drunk.

Jig is completely right.

Jig is right.

[11.01.50] Gowi:

Jig is right. Feel free to send that along.

[Jig is] 100% correct.

Jig was right 8 months ago, and is still right.

I love you, Jig. It's because you're Always Right™.

Once again, Jig is absolutely right about this.

Where is Jig when I need to vent about politics?
Drunk.

The mighty Jig is of course right.

Episode Ideas:

None of these are set in stone. These are just things that I've come up with. If you'd like to add your own, please PM me (if you fancy some secrecy) or post it in the OoC section. Once we have all the characters in, I'll set up a poll to see which ideas are the most popular.

Character Sheets:

In addition to your own sheets, be aware of other characters. We've all been at school together for seven years, so we'll have friends/rivals/etc among the group. Talk to other players and work out your collective backstories. :)
I should warn you that there's been quite a bit of interest so this probably won't be first-come first-served.

Nation Sheets:

Gryffindor:

Ravenclaw:
Ross - ravenDivinity[/indent]

Slytherin:

Hufflepuff:

The United Kingdom

The O’Lustrum Bursary

Hogwarts World Tour

Tl;Dr

Upon graduating from Hogwarts, our cast of young witches and wizards receive a bursary for foreign travel, enabling them to travel the world, starting with Europe. As a game, this will run as a series of short chapters, each focusing on one particular area and the adventures and antics of the group in each place. I really encourage players to come up with plots and locations and interesting sightseeing destinations and even to organise chapters themselves.

Plot and Setting

Obviously, this is set in the wizarding world of Harry Potter - but in 2007, ten years on from Voldemort’s final defeat, and so some scars still run deep, both personally and politically. Most of the world isn’t really documented (and things will have changed in the last ten years) in the books so we’ll be coming up with what we want/imagine certain areas of certain countries will be on the fly. To that end, I encourage people to ‘dibbs’ a country and officially establish what each nation is like, culturally, politically, and demographically.

There will almost certainly be no overarching plot outside the individual episodes beyond the continuity of our characters’ relationships with each other.

The O'Lustrum Bursary for Global Travel and Study is named for Aaron O'Lustrum, a journalist from the Republic of Ireland that reports on global affairs. Following the fall of Voldemort, the UK began a process of introspection and healing. While necessary, this resulted in less engagement with the rest of the world and, given the whole genocide thing, the UK isn't particularly well-regarded nowadays. The O'Lustrum Bursary is designed to remedy this somewhat, and it entails regular payments to the students for up to a year's worth of travel. For this, the students don't have to do anything apart from write fortnightly reports to O'Lustrum simply to say what they're up to and what they've noticed.

While the students may have one or two set events they want to check out, the bursary is designed for them to flexibly travel - and for us to not have to know exactly what we're doing next. ;)

Countries and Characters:

Character sheets will be found in the character tab, as will nation sheets. The nation sheets are there so if any one of you is all "Hey I think France should be like this", you can totally establish that as canonical right off the bat. I do ask, though, that nobody posts in the Character Tab, at least for now. I get the feeling there might be a reasonable amount of info that ends up getting put in there and I like to be able to organise it, so I'll probably be the one that uploads everything in there. I might change my mind on that, in which case I'll let you know.
Fair enough :)

From HP lore then...I'd love to explore the other nations of The Wizarding World more. How did Grindelwald effect magical Germany? What is magic like in Asia?

That's the kind of thing I'm looking for :)

For the dragons, it might be interesting if our group stumbled upon some sort of dragon smuggling ring/dragon poachers and were forced by their consciences to help keep the dragons from further harm. Just thought I'd mention that since you'd said you hadn't fleshed that idea out too much.

Nice idea
Oh, you utter charmer. :3

If you like HP, I'm gonna try to get myself back into GMing with a HP Universe RP in the advanced section - although hopefully this one would be a bit pacier, simpler, and chilled-out.
Not just the typical HP monsters

I ought to warn you that part of the point of this is so that we can all go "I kinda loved this aspect of HP lore and would like to explore more of it" so I wouldn't overwhelmingly encourage many episodes to focus on things not based on the HP canon if that makes sense.

In other news, it's great there's so much interest already. I'll whip up an OoC.
OoC
Please head on over to the OoC so I only have to keep track of one thread.
Fanks.

There will almost certainly be no overarching plot outside the individual episodes beyond the continuity of our characters’ interactions with each other and maybe some continuity in global politics. There will be very little connection with canon characters.

If this gets interest and becomes a thing, I’ll outline things more finely, but, the basic premise will be that the core cast are recent Hogwarts graduates that have applied for or been nominated for the O’Lustrum Bursary for Global Study in order to equip the upcoming generation of wizarding world with some wisdom of the actual world. The trip will be open-ended so that we can come up with episodes on the fly.

Plots I have in mind - though I'm keen for players to come up with ideas for episodes and for it not to be all me:
  • Guest appearance at the Triwizard tournament
  • An episode involving some veela, easily-influenced teenagers, raging hormones, and poor decisions
  • Being present at the outbreak of actual bona-fide civil war
  • Dragons (haven't developed this idea much)
  • A glamorous, magical cruise of some kind

Who I’m Looking For:

These are the qualities I’m looking for in my players. I hope that you don’t think it’s extensive.

  • Accurate spelling and grammar
  • Use of collaborative posts
  • People who want to come up with ideas and locations and storylines
  • People who want to interact with other players
  • People who have a good knowledge of the HP canon
  • I'm not looking for loads of players but I'm happy for players to bring more than one character
  • Commitment (obvs)

Hope to hear from some people soon. :)

And here I was going to ask @Jig if I could steal appropriate the concept.

I love that people are thinking that I came up with the concept of a murder mystery, but I actually, heh, didn't. The only thing I wouldn't want people to pinch is Mr. Jig himself but I'm sure that you wouldn't.

I should warn you that I was super ambitious with this and the simpler you can keep it, the easier it will run. I did have somebody in the pipeline to play the Hostess (who I was keeping a complete secret from you all for some meta-shock value), but she dropped out just before her introduction, and I managed to get somebody to fill the role but the time-damage that was done - and that to my confidence - kinda put the final nail in the coffin while I was having RL stuff too. I'd quite like to give this another go but my RL stuff isn't nearly remotely done and these games take so much bloody work and flexibility that I just don't have.

tl;dr - I really don't own anything apart from my characters so help yourself to anything else that I've come up with. I'd be honoured. :)
Need a hand if anybody can spare a moment. I've got a Slowpoke that I'm wanting to evolve to a Slowking and teach it some moves from the ORAS move tutors - except I don't have ORAS. I want it to learn Ice Punch and Drain Punch and would be very grateful if anybody could make that happen for me: you'll need 16BP. I can trade over some items like Heart Scales or have some bred Woobats with their Hidden Ability, which isn't much in comparison with my gratitude. Cheers. :)
Awesome. She did give me her direct contact stuff but it's so not-urgent it's not worth the direct contact.
And what are the deets for the plane ticket, like, arrival times and class? I'm assuming we'll all be arriving at roughly the same time.

Unless I've herped/derped, I think you missed this. I'm working on Part 2 of my intro post and will just throw some placeholder numbers in.
