The Scenario:
The first thing Chris noticed were her dimples. She was going on about some sort of local music event but the only thing catching Chris' attention was her smile. He was a sucker for pretty faces and Natalie had one of the best. The best thing about being vain, Chris thought, was that girls could never tell that he was leering. Passing hours chatting with Natalie had become a regular event over the past month or so. Chris had recently been obsessed with spending his free time patrolling South Park Mall. The new girl Natalie at the mall's Corner Store had been a pleasant way for him to pass time. Several days a week Chris would wander the halls until he was thirsty enough to buy a drink.
Mountain Dew, a buck seventy eight, "Hi and how are YOU today." It had become so routine that it was practically religious. Natalie and Chris would chat about anything their minds could come up with. Today was February 6th and outside of the Virginia morning being a slight more chilly, it was just another day. The two chatty teens had been going on for a couple of hours now and the mall was starting to get busy. Most customers of the Corner Store would catch on that the two wouldn't break their conversation for them and would make their purchases briefly. It was a nice little niche for the two lonely individuals to have fallen into.
Chris was lost in the monotony of flirting with Natalie when he suddenly felt a hand on his shoulder. It was the unmistakably shrill voice of Jacob, the mall cop. "Excuse me, I think this belongs to you?" Jacob handed over Chris' phone which had apparently slipped out of his jacket pocket. Out of habit Chris immediately clicked it on to see if he had any missed calls or messages. There was a string of missed calls from his mother and even more messages. His mother was not usually the overbearing or nagging type of woman so this alerted him. He immediately began to walk away and dial his mom as he gave Natalie a gesture that he would be coming back.
"I have been worried sick, where have you been?" Chris' mother asked. "Your father is rounding the family up and he looks ill. We are almost at the mall so you need to be ready to go as soon as we arrive."
"Okay! I get it, I'll be at the food court exit" replied Chris. He began trotting through the mall, darting in between the various pedestrians. By the time he exited the double doors, his father's Silver Grand Caravan was parked in front. At this point he began to panic as the situation was beginning to set in. His legs began to feel wobbly as he staggered to the door of the van. The door was opened and Chris immediately collapsed in the back seat. There were bags stuffed in every nook of the car. "What's going on?" was all Chris could manage to ask.
Chris' father was an intelligence analyst that worked as a private contractor for the US Military. He was in charge of sifting through mass amounts of raw information and presenting it to the people that needed it. The type of sensitive information that his father handled had caused him to become paranoid over those many years. Chris' family had a contingency plan that they would pack up in their silver van and ride off into the boonies in case of emergency. Up until this day their family had never even discussed where they would go or what they would do. As his father turned away from the steering wheel he could see the look of fear in his father's eyes. The terrified man looked his son directly in the eyes and managed to choke out two words. "The End."

I want to go light on the bio so the details can come out through dialogue (which is my favorite way of story telling).
