The moon was high in the sky when the group of men and women arrived at the last dune before the beach. The walk to the beach from the fortress further inland that their helicopter had landed near had taken a few hours, and it had slowly become darker as they advanced towards the beach. Their progress was further hampered by the Dune Defense Zone, the sandy hills where Arman had given orders to build bunkers and coastal batteries months earlier. Every fifteen minutes they arrived at a checkpoint, although most soldiers stationed there immediately let them as soon as they saw the party consisted of their Khan and some of his most important generals. A few asked some questions because they were suspicious that the Khan himself suddenly came by the checkpoint they were stationed at, but upon the needed reassurance that they would not be fired or demoted the generals and Khan together with their escorts were let through. With every checkpoint they passed however, the escort of soldiers that they had originally been placed with grew, as the leaders of the various checkpoints would risk losing some soldiers and having a slightly weaker outpost over the Khan and members of the Kurultai dying and them getting blamed for it.

General Anderson and General Nurzhan kept squabbling all the way to the shore. Even when they were all required to change into outfits more appropriate for possible combat while they were flying towards the inland fort, Gen. Anderson kept shouting to Nurzhan about "his extreme bluntness and stubborness" as she was changing into combat gear from a private area in the back of the aircraft. Nurzhan on the other hand, mostly just misunderstood what she was saying, due to his lack of understanding of both metaphors and social situations. General Yun stayed quiet as always, choosing not to interfere in the constant rivalry the other two generals seemed to be having. Yuri never really minded the constant arguments between the two ever since he had chosen them for his Kurultai. It was actually quite helpful that they were constantly trying to outdo each other, and it was funny to see as well. However, it did not help at the moment, as they were trying to not get seen by these potential new enemies, and he silenced them both with an angry look.

Finally, they arrived at the last dune before the beach, and they all crouched down to stay hidden. The original escort squad leader peeked over the hill and immediately pulled back his head with a shocked expression on his face.
"What is it?" Yuri and the generals asked in unison
"A fortified encampment, right there, on the shore." The squad leader replied.
The Khan requested the man's binoculars and did looked over the dune.
"There's at least a thousand people holed up in there, maybe even more. Tell your men to spread out around the dunes, and get them ready to shoot if needed. General Anderson, I want you to call in a few fighter planes from the nearest airbase, tell them to patrol around the area. General Nurzhan, contact the nearby forts and tell them to send more soldiers to our position. I also want our coastal guns online ASAP."
Both generals did so immediately. First to say anything was Katie "I contacted the airbase, but the quickest their planes can be here is in a few hours." "Our coastal guns are ready, but it will take a while for these new soldiers to get here." Arman said thereafter.

And so they waited for a while, all silent.
"You know, frankly I expected something like this to happen." General Yun said suddenly. "We have no navy at the moment."
"Yeah well, the Core hasn't build any ports here yet, and you know landships can't float." Yuri replied. The refusal of the Khaganate to have a proper navy was well known with other empires and nations they had contacted previously. Instead, when the Khaganate's armies needed any naval operations done, they would call in assistance from the Core, the AI reponsible for running the AIR. This AI controlled and built another branch of robots called the Naval Military Robots, which are based on various sea creatures the Khaganate found on ocean planets they had colonized and conquered.
"The Core should hurry up with this then, but they can't now with these people here."
The waiting continued.

After what felt like, and was in fact, hours, the backup they required had arrived. Several K-7 'Gopher' APCs arrived and stopped near the shore, and soldiers jumped out, going towards the soldiers already sitting on the dunes, while F-5 'Marauder' strike fighters flew overhead, ready for any command to attack. It was at that moment the Coastal guns activated, slowly rising up from their hidden positions in the dunes, and turned around.

A fifth man joined the members of the Kurultai. It was Stephan Michel, one of the best diplomats of the Khaganate. Yuri had requested his presence earlier as they had encountered unknown, but organized people and the man obliged, being transported all the way from the Lanist Khaganate's capital. The Khaganate's response was ready.
The newly established Alfieq's Army have begun their recovering from the Militarian civil war and also managing to cream their revolutionary influences from the mainland through the east, impressed their Militarian commoners by now a fractured Empire of Militarian-Veilletes on that date. The Commander of Alfieq's Army has decided to relocate their capital from the western point of a large island lake to the east, and thus the capital will now be named as the 'Regional HQ of the Northern Continent' (RHQ-NC) for the officials and the military commands to take some administrative ordeals of the faction.

The seafaring military sailors of AA has stumbled across an unknown coast from the east of their homeland with a few undefined structures in sight and thus decided to investigate the area by disembarking their ships and seeking contact for exploration of unexplained visitors.

It was late in the afternoon, and the smell of freshly cut grass lingered in the building of the Kurultai as the last man entered the room and closed the door. He was late for the daily meeting of the Kurultai, the main advisory council to the Khan. Merely a few seconds after he had taken a seat, the man in front started talking.
"Greetings, members of the Kurultai" Khan Yuri Lanist said "As we all know, we have been here for a few months now, and I am very proud to announce to you that our first landship has nearly been completed and its ceremonial launching will be held next thursday." He paused for a second. The members of the Kurultai started clapping and cheering. The completion of such an enormous project was certainly no small feat, and the scale of the project was still astounding to most members of the Kurultai. The members of the Kurultai fell silent once again as the Khan continued speaking. "However, there is much to discuss," he said "Now that we have properly secured our nation after our landing on this planet a few months ago, it is time to start thinking about the future. I suggest we expand to the east, securing more resources for our nation, and start looking if there are others on this world, so we can properly assess the security measures we need to take against them. I would like to know what your thoughts on the matter are."

"I would suggest we expand to the northern pole, as the cold will make the generation of power and production of goods for the Khaganate more efficient." Said a humanoid, although not creepy, robot, the representative of the core.
"I disagree." Came from General Katie Anderson sitting on the other side of the table. "The technology used in the landship that has been recently constructed is at the moment not resistant to the extreme cold that has been measured in the polar region. We will have to design a new one that works better in that enviroment. I suggest we use this new landship to our advantage in expanding to the east, as we will certainly need a weapon of that size to exert influence on that area."
"I am with the Core representative on this one" a gruff voice said, although from General Anderson's side of the table. This voice belonged to Arman Nurzhan, an experienced general whose face seemed to be naturally stern. Yuri had colonized and conquered many different places with the help of this man, but wasn't sure if he could remember Arman ever smiling. "We can just construct more fortifications inside this new area, helping with defending the area and making sure the local population does not rise up."

"You can't just build forts for every problem" Anderson said "This new landship has the mobility to actually quash any uprisings rather than your forts, but we can't use it inside the arctic"
The Kurultai began arguing amongst themselves, the noise slowly growing louder as Yuri was deep in thought. He knew Katie was right, and he appreciated her opinion because he had seen her tactical genius on the field, even though she was at a young age for a general. However, he also knew Arman and the Core's representative were speaking the truth, as the extra resources and power from the arctic region would help in his future goals of colonizing the planet for the Khaganate. The noise coming from the Kurultai was now loud enough to distract him from his internal monologue, and he prepared to put an end to it, when a fourth voice spoke up. It was from the person that was most experienced in warfare from all the generals currently at the Kurultai, Xun Yun. "Ladies and gentlemen" he said, "There is a solution here you are not seeing. We can simply expand to the east using our landship and can let the AIR build more factories there. At the same time we will only expand into the fringes of the polar region using our armies and build research stations there, so we can devise a way to protect our landships against the cold. Our construction efforts are better used elsewhere than in the east, which doesn't have as many tribes or natives as the south.

Yuri could agree with this compromise, and prepared to speak up, when a young man, perhaps not even twenty years old, burst into the room. "Unknown vessels near the western coast!" He shouted.
Arman Nurzhan immediately replied with "Tell our coastal cannons and forts to communicate with and fire upon those vessels.
"But Sir, they have already landed, as our coastal guns have done nothing." The young man replied as General Anderson shot Arman a look of amusement over the fact that the fortifications he spent so much time building had become useless.

"Alright, enough" Yuri said to everyone at the Kurultai. "This is a historical moment for our nation as it is the first time we have found people on this planet. I will be going there. Katie and Xun, you will be coming with me." "I will be coming as well," General Nurzhan said, "I need to talk to my officers about the fact that they're not doing anything when there are unknown forces on our shore."
The four went into an elevator taking them to the top floor of the building, where an old transport helicopter was already waiting. "To the west coast." Khan Yuri said to the pilot.

A few hours later the helicopter landed near one of the forts that had been constructed a month earlier. A squad of twelve heavily armed soldiers was already waiting for them and escorted the generals to the place where these new visitors had been spotted last.
I will have exam week from monday, so i will either not post or if I post it won't be very long or high quality.

-Description (think economy, history etc.) (Optional)
Overview
The Lanist Khaganate is an interdimensional nation ruled by a Khan, of which the current one is Yuri Lanist. They really like using mechanized infantry, tanks and the landship, titanic weapon platforms mounted on colossal tank threads. The Khaganate was formed after their precursor, the Asian Federation, began growing stronger after the dissolution of the USSR. Nearly everything, except the fighting, is done by robots. This means a lot of people in the Khaganate can fight in the military because they are not needed for the production of other things. The Lanist Khaganate is highly advanced, having developed the capability to travel between the stars using wormholes.
Government
The Khaganate is an elective monarchy. Once the Khan, the leader of the Lanist Khaganate, dies, the citizens can
choose anyone amongst them to be the next Khan, but there is a very strong emphasis on the knowledge and qualifications of the new Khan. This means that the Khan will often be chosen from the Kurultai, a political and military advisory council that helps the Khan rule. The Kurultai is made up of the best military leaders and statesmen of the Khaganate, and is often chosen by the Khan himself. The current Khan is Yuri Lanist, also known as Yuri Khan, and he has spearheaded the Khaganate's expansion into space, and has often lead the colonization or conquest of new worlds himself.
Military
Although the Khaganate has a very capable military, it has mostly specialized in maneuver warfare and mechanized a lot of its military force.
History
In the late 20th century, on Earth, the Soviet Union fell. After Kazakhstan and many other nations left, Russia completely collapsed into all of its provinces. This lead to the formation of the Asian Union, a political and economic union similar to the EU by Kazakhstan, Mongolia, many countries in Central Asia and most of the southern russian provinces bordering Mongolia and Kazakhstan. Over time, this new union of nations slowly federalized, becoming the Asian Federation.

Once the Asian Federation was established as a proper nation, it began to heavily industrialize and modernize, taking advantage of the relatively rich resources in the region. It slowly, over a very long period of time, became a dominant force in the region, rivaling the newly formed Russian Federation to the north and China to the east. Then, in 2050, due to an unknown reason, the third World War started between several nations, although all that is known from the early period of the war is that the Asian Federation stayed independent. Near the end of WW3 the Asian Federation was slowly transformed into the Khaganate as known today. The leader of this new Khaganate was a man who called himself Genghis Khan II, and he wanted to bring back the glory of the Mongol Empire. Because, after the war, all nations surrounding the Khaganate had become significantly weaker, and they began to conquer these nations one by one. The first to go was the entire south of Russia, and then China, and slowly the Khaganate conquered the entire world.

After the world was completely under their control, the Khaganate was free to divert a lot of the world's resources to the advancement of technology and developing space travel. They initially only colonized the solar system. Then the Khaganate developed wormhole travel, enabling them to travel to other solar systems. The wormhole travel was very unstable, and they often ended up in strange dimensions and on many different planets. Now the Lanist Khaganate has made planetfall here, and have started building up once again.
Economy
Most of the production of the Khaganate is done by a robotic workforce. These robots are known as the AIR, the Autonomous Industrial Robots. They could almost be described as another nation inside the Lanist Khaganate due to their autonomy and permissions allowed due to their vitality for the Khaganate, were it not for the fact that almost AIRs are not sentient. The 'leader' of these AIRs is The Core, an immensely intelligent Artificial Intelligence that controls all of the nonsentient AIRs. The Core takes care of almost all production and logistics in the Khaganate. However, when the Khaganate needs something specific the Kurultai can order the Core to make something, such as a landship. The AIR factories and shipping routes are determined by a hexagonal grid overlaid on the Khaganate's territory, meaning that the AIR always has an optimal distance to wherever it needs to deliver goods.

The Khaganate often exports natural resources extracted from their own territory to other nations. They also sell some of their own technology.

This is a list of nations as well as a map with claims:
Welcome to World of Nations, A freestyle nation RP similar to many other Freestyle RPs, but with nations instead. This is the Map:

You are allowed to add your own nation/civilisation/empire or whatever. I will try to update the map as well as I can.
Because it's freestyle, you're essentially allowed to do whatever you want as long as you do not break the rules. The quality of writing required here is not that high either, however, we'd prefer that you try to keep up with some of the other posters here in both depth and post length. Here are the rules:
1. If somebody wishes to not interact with somebody, please don't force them to. If somebody tells you to stop OOC, then stop.
2. You are free to decide your own tech level, there is no 'standard' tech level. You're free to play a caveman civilisation while someone else has computers and such.
3. You are free to add your own 'NPC' nations/civilisations for you and others to interact with. The person who created an NPC civilisation controls it (Unless they give somebody else permission to control it).
4. First come, first served. Same goes for here. You can't claim things others have claimed, nor can you change someone else's environment. If someone is having a fantasy-like war with an Orc faction, you can't come in and say that there's a hyperadvanced civilisation there. The map is big enough for everyone, so try and respect each other.
5. You are allowed to use WMDs/Superweapons, but please keep their use to a minimum.
6. There are no flawless weapons. No shield is impenetrable, no weapon is flawless, no armour is invincible.
7. If you go overboard, expect retaliation. If you don't play fair (by breaking the rules), don't expect me to either, and I might look the other way when someone breaks a rule to punish you for going overboard (By dropping superweapons on your empire after you continued waging war on others after they specifically told you to stop.)
8. If things escalate even further and it can't be stopped in-RP, I'll use my GM powers to put a stop to it. If I make a post with GM: [something], then that is FINAL, and you cannot oppose it.
9. Don't control things that don't belong to you.
10. When you want some new territory, you can just claim more part of the map as long as that part doesn't belong to anyone else. Peace treaties after war have to be negotiated by both sides to determine who gets what.
11. When editing the map (for claiming, making peace or expanding your territory) please follow these rules:
-Please save as PNG and use imgur for image uploading
-Please make sure the size stays the same, as updating the map when everyone uploads different sized
images is a lot of unnecessary work
-If you use paint. net or something similar, make sure the antialiasing is turned off. Otherwise the map
gets weird blurry regions and starts looking weird
-I will update the map in the OOC and the apply section every now and then
-PLEASE MAKE YOUR NATION LOOK LIKE A NATION AND NOT LIKE A SHIRT STAIN
12. If you will not be able to post for a little while, please say so beforehand, then I will take control over your nation to make sure no one can interact with it until you get back. Don't do interact with the nation itself because I will either ignore you or use my GM powers to stop it.
13. If someone leaves unannounced I will take control of their nation as well, and will contact the owner of the original nation to see if they want to keep playing. If they don't you can all fight over who gets it.
14. If you are severely stronger/higher in technology level than someone else, please don't just roll over them in war unless both of you have given permission for it OOC.

Other than the rules, you are free to do what you want. There is an application however, but most of it is optional and it'll be automatically approved. It's just nice to have all information about the nations in 1 place. Please don't forget to apply in the Characters section.

Nation: Kazakh Khanate

Location (on map):

History:
The area of the Kazakh Khanate had always been home to many tribes and peoples. After the division of the Mongol empire it was known for a time as the Golden Horde, before it slowly declined and was eventually taken over by the Russian Empire. The Kazakh people however, have always yearned for their independence. Before and during the Great War, there were a lot of uprisings, the most serious being the Central Asian revolt in 1916. When the Russian Empire withdrew in that same year however, they brutally put down the revolt and suppressed further attempts for Kazakh independence.

These independence movements never truly disappeared though. When the great economic depression after the war hit the world, the people of Kazakhstan paid a terrible price for their desire for independence: The Russian empire refused to help the Kazakh people in any way, and many starved to death after a drought was in the area for several years. This angered the Kazakh even more, and even many Russian loyalists and colonists who had been sent by the Russians to settle the steppe supported the call for freedom from the yoke of Russian oppression, as their families had been hit by the drought and the famine that followed as well. After the assassination of the Czar in 1952, all hell broke loose in Central Asia. The people of Kazakhstan finally declared their independence from the Russian Empire, but there were many different factions with a lot of different interests, and those factions eventually started fighting each other. The bloody civil war inside Kazakhstan came to a climax at the battle of the Ertis river, where Kazakh nationalist, allied together with an independence movement that wanted to create a Kazakh Republic, slaughtered a combined communist and Russian force, and later murdered the families of many Russian settlers, claiming that they were ‘not Kazakh enough’. Many atrocities were committed on all sides. Another famous example from the civil war was a battle in the west of Central Asia, where the faction known as the Kazakh People’s Front fought against the People’s Front of Kazakhstan. Eventually, an uneasy truce was made between the warring factions in the form of the Central Asian Federation. The federation consisted of all countries in Central Asia, although the nation with the most influence was Kazakhstan. This did not fare well with the other countries in the federation.

As a result of the unequal balance of power, the federation did not last long. Turkmenistan and Tajikistan declared their independence in 1956, two years after the start of the CAF. A year later, Uzbekistan revolted and the CAF was forced to grant them their independence, because Kazakhstan was too weak from the previous civil war. Some Kyrgyz separatists also tried to become independent, but that revolt did not have enough support and was eventually suppressed by Kazakhstan, which then annexed the territory. The leader of the Kazakhstan was Boratev Sagdiy, who desperately tried to westernize and industrialize the country. The westernization worked, partially, and a new constitution was put into place. The industrialization was a whole different story however. The country still had to deal with the aftermath of the two civil wars it had a few years before, and the country was being rebuilt very slowly.

In 1959, a man named Khazretgali Aniyarov, a general in the remaining army of Kazakhstan, overthrew the current government, and became the new leader of Kazakhstan. He told the Kazakh people that he was the reincarnation of Genghis Khan, and that the Kazakh were the heirs of the Mongol empire. He then started calling himself Alash Khan, Khan of all of the people of Kazakhstan and renamed Kazakhstan into the Kazakh Khanate. Around that time, a large amounts of oil, gas and minerals were discovered in Kazakhstan, such as potassium. All potassium of other countries is inferior. The Khanate is currently in the process of industrialisation, so it can take the best potassium so it may rival the greatness of the ancient mongol empire.
@Pepperm1nts@InkwellWe should probably make a pm for everyone in Russia to work out the history, as I have claimed Kazakhstan which was part of Russia until 1952 but history is different
This is a draft: if someone has any tips or advice, please tell me!

My name is jorcool. I've been roleplaying since 2013, where I roleplayed on some threads on the Minecraft forums. Later I played a rp not unlike Expanding Horizons on the forums of a minecraft server, and when that was over I started doing nation rps on the MCF. I ended up here after someone posted on of the threads from this website in a discord I was active at and I decided this was one of the most active RP communities around so I went here instead.

I personally usually play nation roleplays, but I think most others are fun as well. I wouldn't call myself a very experienced or skilled roleplayer. I have no problem with coming up with ideas for characters and stories and what to do and stuff, but I often find that my writing skills aren't adequate to properly convey what I mean.

As for stuff beside rp-ing, I mostly just play video games in my spare time, but most of that free time is currently being consumed by studying for university.
