Good job on that post. :)

So can I get a review of my nation?
No?

Crying?
Just Your President

ask
@Jotunn Draugr Swell thing you got there. Would be a shame if the Collective or the Dominion crushed it to pieces.

"When a false god dies, millions mourn. When a true god dies, no one mourns, because everyone dies with him. Are you ready to face a true god, deceptive one?"

-Prime Councillor Rhodullveita

It would be a great help, actually. I need an excuse to shake the dust off of all these weapons. XD
Name of Nation: The Sacred Union of the Royal Theocracies of Röðull (S.U.R.T.R.)

Banner/Flag:

The flag represents the star at the centre of the galaxy, and the four capital worlds of the SURTR: Musdl, Halmr, Kegh, and Njor.

Type of Government: Theocratic Regency

Leader(s):
Officially: High Lord Rhöðull (deceased, incumbent)
Functionally: The Royal Regency Council

Persons of Importance:
-High Lord Rhöðull

-Prime Councillor Rhodullveita (capital world 1)

-Deputy Prime Councillor Rhodullvard (capital world 1)

-High Rage-Channeler Fen (capital world 3)

-Archpriest Rhomaera (capital world 2)

-President Dyrrboen (capital world 4)

-Secretary of the People's Faith Rhodull-Umbud (world 1)

Species(s) and Demographics:

There are four main races in the SURTR, who rule over all of the under-races of the lesser worlds:
-The True: bipedal creatures with thick exoskeletons, and no visual perception

-The Humans: bipedal creatures with fragile, squishy outer layers, highly perceptive

-The False: lanky quadrupeds, with overactive salivary glands and limited communication ability

-The Herfiligr: Small aquatic bipeds, with no sense of smell. Their small, hyperactive lungs make speaking difficult.

Religion Description and Demographics:

The official faith of the Union is called "Rhöðulldyarkan", the worship of Rhöðull.
Rhöðull was a sun-worshiping cult leader, who died around the hear 200 IC. Followers of Rhöðull claim him to be their only true ruler, with all others being "false kings". As such, rise of this cult created a great deal of turmoil and rebellion in the later days of the Empire. Over the last couple centuries of the Empire's reign, the faith was greatly subjugated, and was eventually pushed back to a select number of planets near the center of the galaxy.

The main tenents of Rhodulldyarkan are based around the admonishment of authority and pride. Followers are to remind themselves at all times that their life comes from the radiation of the stars, and that they are forever indebted to the stars for this. Worship is a daily practice, involving many verbal chants, as well as various fire rituals.

All members of the Union are required to profess a faith in Rhodull, but it can take a number of forms. As the faith has developed on each planet in the SURTR, it has branched off into a number of sects.
The True of Musdl and Halmr, the first two worlds, uphold the oldest, truest, and most demanding variation of the faith. Worship is an almost constant process, and it is socially encouraged to work praises of Rhodull into day-to-day conversation. This results in long-winded greetings like "In Rhodull's glorious name, it is good to see you again, thanks be to Rhodull, peace be upon him", and "By Rhodull's grace, you look well, praise to the High Lord".
The Humans of the SURTR are very devout, and adhere to the commandments without difficulty, although they rarely feel compelled to work Rhodull into regular conversation. They generally uphold the principle that religion is a personal thing, not to be flaunted in public.
The Herfiligr of Njor, the fourth world, are a moderate people, very similar to the Humans. Of all the racial leaders of the SURTR, they are the most casual with their faith. Worldly concerns take the forefront, and the faith is ignored culturally, although still enforced by the government. When legally able to do so, the Herfiliger instead celebrate their own traditions, as their culture is rich with various expressions of art. Of all the races, they are also the most soft-spoken.
The False of Kegh, the third world, are an impulsive, aggressive people. They are highly religious, but their variation of Rhodulldyarkan is the most deviant. The reverence of humility and solar energy are mixed up with traditional war rites and mating rituals. The False were dubbed "false" because of their inability to speak, preventing them from taking part in proper Rhodulldyarkan worship. The False communicate among each other exclusively through body-language, and with other planets through a crude writing system.

Culture:

The culture of the Union varies by planet, with the only shared customs being worship of Rhodull, and the proliferation of the languages of both the Humans and the True.
The True essentially have no culture, outside of that which reflects, represents, or serves their religion. What they call "music", are rhythmic religious chants. What they call "art", are countless cathedrals dedicated to Rhodull. What they call "community" is communal prayer.
The Humans observe a mashup of traditional Earth holidays and customs. Of all the races, they are the most culturally diverse.
The False base their customs around food, war, and reproduction. Cultural events feature wrestling tournaments, feasts, and public orgies. Their version of singers are those among them with the most impressive battle-cries.
The Herfiligr have a rich, colourful culture. The giant tile murals of the Herfiligr are famous throughout the galaxy, and are sold for unfathomable prices. Their music is based around filling the air and water with euphonic reverberations, surrounding the listener with pleasant sounds. To this end, they have complex systems of drums, flutes, and acoustic sound amplifiers. The Herfiligr have an old saying, that "A note that doesn't echo five times, is a note wasted".

This looks very hopeful! Think I could join??
From what I can gather here you're wanting to make a character that is both Raven and Trigon all rolled up into one. Although with the current line up of heroes, even with a team, Surd is just completely overpowering in my mind.

In his avatar form of an old man he has fire breath, smoke breath, the ability to regenerate by channeling energy from open flames, can sense open flames, can temporarily summon Surd's powers through chants and rituals and can transform into Surd by channeling the sun's energy. Not to bad as power sets go. And then there's Surd. Fire breath, smoke breath, super-strength, the ability to set things aflame by touch, ability to regenerate by channeling sunlight, he has a large flaming sword, skin as hard as obsidian and as durable as thick leather, a super-heated body that can evaporate liquids and melt solids upon contact (going back to that setting things aflame power), and can grant free thought to open flames. Oh, also he's 20 feet tall.

His weaknesses as Surd are shade(?) and only Gods and Demi-God can stand toe-to-toe with Surd. And I'm assuming that as the avatar he has normal human weaknesses that can be healed by channeling the energy from open flames.

Right now we have no real heavy hitters anymore that could stand up against Surd, even as part of a team. I would suggest limiting the powers some. In the avatar form I would limit his powers to smoke breath, the ability to regenerate by channeling energy from open flames at the cost of extinguishing the flame, the ability to sense open flames and the ability to temporarily summon Surd's powers or transform into Surd through chants and rituals. The chants would grant him the powers of Surd for a short period of time, maybe only a few minutes at a time, while the rituals would take time to prepare and perform so they would give the avatar Surd's powers for longer times. Each power would also have a different chant or ritual to perform.

As for Surd, I would let you keep fire breath and smoke breath. Super-strength you can keep, maybe expand on it some and give him some limits to how much he can lift, and his durability he can keep, maybe compare what level of durability your wanting to an already established comic character just for easier reference. The ability to set things aflame by touch is the biggest thing I have problems with, because if I could do that and I got into a fight I would do nothing else so no one could touch me, as a compromise I would suggest limiting this power to the sword only. The granting free thought to open flames is something else I could see becoming a problem if every flame in the city suddenly is given life, maybe just limit how many flames he could give free thought to or how large a radius around him that he can control the flames.

Another thing I would do is limit his height depending on how Surd took form. If he takes from through the power of a ritual performed by the avatar then limit his height to something between 10 and 15 feet, he would have his powers but be confined to a smaller body for the duration of the ritual. If he takes a more permanent form from like an amulet of some kind he becomes his true self, between 20 and 25 feet tall, with all his powers until the amulet is removed and he returns to his avatar form.

This way you can add more to your weaknesses while still keeping him as one of the stronger characters in the RP, this way will also cut down on some of the more op power sets while still letting your character retain them in some form. You could also add in some storylines where the avatar is searching for an amulet or some kind of powerful object to manifest Surd in his full power. By then we may have some more heavy hitters to make it more of a fair fight as well.

That's a very fair assessment. I'll see what I can do to rework him to be a bit more balanced. Given that SURD is supposed to be this sort-of prime evil, I'm going to try to focus on limiting the Avatar's ability to channel him, so that SURD is still theoretically Godlike, but can't ever be properly summoned to the world. (basically Raven without Trigon)

In the meantime, though, if we have a shortage of heroes, I could absolutely role a hero instead! What do we really need more of, going forward?

Edit: of course, I'm already rolling one hero, although she's kinda MIA, since she's halfway through an encounter with Carls, who's dropped off the face of the Earth.
