allllmost done writing my post for the contest >_< i've had to write three speeches this week in preparation for the ending of my speech class. but after that, no more schoolwork! :D thanks so much for being patient guys
I apologized for not posting yet! I've just been kind of struggling these past two weeks Haha. I promise I'll post sometime this weekend!
I'll post soon! It'll probably be another training post. Im trying to practice my writing so I can paint a clear picture of the appeals xD
As a player, I hope you don't mind me talking about some of the things that I think would be fun!

Id love to turn move tutors into like quests or something interactive like that. I don't know if you've played zelda or breath of the wild, but doing little side or mini plots or missions to earn stuff like new moves or TMs would be fun!

Also, I was thinking about this... If there's a concern for pokemon knowing too many moves, maybe we could let pokemon learn however many moves they want to learn, but we could just pick four moves in battle to use? I could definitely see official league rules or something being a part of that. Or maybe its just that they only have the capacity to use four moves in battle until they've had a long rest or something? Im sort of getting my idea from dnd here, where they have something called spell slots.

(Essentially, spell slots refers to how many spells you can cast, sort of like the number of arrows in a quiver. Once you're out of spell slots you cannot cast spells from that specific spell level until you take a long rest.)

I guess I just wanted mention this because I really don't want a limit on moves we can learn, but I also realize how easily that can be abused. That said, id love if we could do something like movesets. I really think they could work!

I hope Im not coming off as rude or anything. I just wanted to be open and communicate about what I think would be engaging. Thank you for listening! :)
@Balthazar007just wanted to make a quick training post. I was wondering... will indigo and margo have chances to teach their pokemon tm moves or move tutor moves? I'd love for his pokemon to learn some moves outside their typical level ups, just so I can really get creative with appeals. xD
After sleeping like a log through most of the day before and night, Indigo was able to actually have the energy to wake up early, around 7 am. His early rising, in a strange and contradictory way, was also due partly to his nerves. As soon as his alarm went off, he was up and out of bed, anxious energy spurning him to move.
It was strange, he thought as he readied himself for the day ahead, he had never felt like this before. He had always avoided his problems and his deadlines and his important dates so much, then they sprang up on him when he least expected it. I used to push stuff away and just... Not care. Or maybe, I guess I did it because I didn't really want to deal with consequences.

But here was a team of dedicated, fun, and slightly annoying pokemon that just wanted victory. Indigo could see it in their faces, shining with determination. They really want to win this. And he was going to try his best to direct his pokemon and give them the victory they so deserved. Remember though, you're not in this to win. You're just here to improve yourself.... But isn't that what a loser would say, a tiny voice jeered in the back of Indigo's mind.

"Viii," Kovi swooped in front of Indigo's face, his large, compound eyes blinked. Indigo saw his face in all of the pokemon's ommatidia.

"I'm fine, just nervous," Indigo murmurred. He exhaled. You have plenty of time to rehearse with everyone, you've been practicing your techniques... At this point, he would be trapped in a cycle of perpetual anxiety and trying to make himself feel better. But he needed to pay attention to his pokemon. "Just jump into it, come on," he urged himself as they made their way to the back of the pokemon center. It seemed he wasn't the only one who was gearing up for the contest. There were three other trainers out already, practicing routines with their pokemon. Indigo noted a Flareon, a Butterfree, and a few others that he didn't recognize.

Damn, I thought we could practice alone out here. I get so nervous around other trainers. I wonder if they're judging me or the way I'm training... I wouldn't blame them.

"Caw!" Hawka snapped Indigo out of his hazy and distracted thoughts. She let out a low rumble from her throat before spurring up a cloud of sand and unleashing a fiery orange swirl into the air.

"Hawka!" Stunned momentarily, he didn't react. Kovi took the opportunity to shoot a string shot into the flames, pulling out the skein of silk and twirling it around as if it were a ribbon. He danced, whirling the flames around on his String Shot, before blowing it away with a Gust and finishing with his wings fanned out to their fullest extent.

Hawka screeched, glaring at the butterfly who had just stolen her show. She wouldn't be outdone.

"Wow, that was really good," Indy had the beginnings of a slow but sure grin on his face. He was beginning to have fun focusing with his pokemon and not worrying about winning or losing. "Okay Hawka, Fire Spin into Flame Charge, let's go! Show Kovi what you're made of," Indigo felt himself loosening up.

Hawka blew out a swirling vortex of flames; molten gold, orange, and red hues surrounded Hawka as she rushed into the eye of the attack. It brought out her own vibrant plumage, making her a fierce foe to be reckoned with at the same time. As she leapt through, her whole body glowed with the beginnings of a Flame Charge. There was a moment where she was completely engulfed in the blazing tornado of flames--

before bursting out triumphantly, cackling. Cloaked in an inferno, Hawka was ready for next move.

"Bring your fighting type out!" Indy called out.

Alight and revved up, Hawka launched into a series of fierce kicks that had her leaping off the ground, and into the air. Her act was convincing and without hesitation, it seemed as though she were fighting real opponents with how quick her reflexes were. A swooping kick turned into a back flip, and she even swung herself around as if she were breakdancing. She finished with a final kick, extinguishing her flames just in time to land next to Indigo.

"That was awesome," he breathed. Hawka nodded, smug.

"Alright, Mimzy, you're next! Let's go!" There was no more wasting time, no more being mopey, no more holding himself or his pokemon back. They were doing well so far, and Indigo was even beginning to become excited. One thing was for sure-- they'd get in a few more practice rounds before the contest started. And hopefully, they would stand a chance at winning.
@Balthazar007we can skip to tomorrow! I think the hike would probably tire indy and margo for the rest of the day anyways
@Balthazar007posted! sorry, had to collab with ikat a bit there. I really wanted to write a detailed training post with indigo's appeal, but i'll save it for the next post :]
As soon as they reached the pokemon center, Indigo rushed to clean himself up and get changed. Once we have actually flying types, it's gonna be so much easier to travel, he thought as he ordered clothing from his PC storage. After freshening up, he headed down the stairs to see Margo waiting.

"Hey, so, what do you want to do? Those girls over there were talking about a contest happening tomorrow... That's something you're into, isn't it?"

He blanked. "A contest?" His eyes followed Margo's indication towards the girls who were talking about the event. "I mean, I'm definitely into it." His quick response lapsed into silence. "I'm just a little worried though. It's gonna be my first one and there's gonna be a huge crowd. I don't even know if anyone on my team's ready..."

Margo squinted. "Do you want to do it or not? You could make up excuses for why you don't want to, but I feel like it's better if you just enter. The only way your pokemon are gonna get really prepared is if they do more contests anyways."

"It's not that simple!" Indy protested, feeling called out for no reason. It was easy for Margo to sit and make judgements, he thought. She didn't know what he was going through, how difficult contests were! "I don't want to set myself up for failure. You have to prepare, you know."
"Oh come on Indigo Rose," Margo chided. "Sounds like someone's getting cold feet."

"I'm getting up," Indigo said, pushing his chair while he stood up. Making his way over to the other trainers he offered a short wave. "Hey, I heard you guys talking about registration. Just wondering if you could walk me through what you have to do..."

Margo watched curiously, her chin resting in her hand. Indigo proceeded to talk some more, as did the other trainers. They all took out their pokedexes, and the girls seemed to pointing at his device and theirs. The conversation was short and Indigo came back looking surprised and perhaps a little drained.

He slunked in his chair. "It was super simple, just an online thing done with our pokedexes. I'm registered..." He didn't sound happy, Margo noted. "I'm getting nervous..."

"That's understandable, but I'm sure it'll be fine," Margo reassured. "Just remember, you're in this to learn. Not to win. Coordinating isn't just competition. It's you and your pokemon expressing a specific depth through technqiue. If you think more about doing that, and you see how other trainers do it, winning or losing won't matter that much." A line from some Breeder guide that touched on other pokemon professions. Margo was proud of herself for remembering it. I sound awesome.

Indigo blinked. Had Margo always been this insightful? In any case, perhaps she was right. This was his first contest, and no matter how much he prepared, there was much to learn and refine. Perhaps if he focused more on learning and improving himself at this contest, the anxiety about winning or losing wouldn't affect him as much. Focus more on learning instead of winning... "Thanks, Margo. I'm going to try and take that advice, actually."

She beamed. "Anytime!"

As they finished their lunch, Indigo found himself feeling sleepy. It was no wonder, they had hiked for a long time and had only just arrived at the city. After some conversation, the two decided they'd rest properly. After all, Indigo couldn't train with his pokemon if he wasn't feel alert, and Margo hardly felt like exploring since she was tired too.

Day elapsed into night as the trainers napped for the rest of the day. Indigo decided, as he drifted off to sleep, that he would get some more practice in before the contest started.
almost finished with it! :)
