In the beginning, there were several heroes who all stood up against some giant eldritch being. They all died.

Just pointing that out. Adventurers don't tend to last very long. They could die from stress alone via suicide if needed, because that was how damaging bad adventures were. That was my main reason for staying in the village, and hence why I couldn't leave immediately since it was highly probably that I'd be stabbed or shanked. I guess though my time would come to help others, as divine retribution for scamming the poor to the rich. Oh well, I couldn't argue with that - I'd probably be hung, drawn and quartered should I be caught in this village, so going out with these unlikely adventurers would be a good idea.

"So, say what again?" I didn't exactly catch much of whatever the team leader was saying. Well, more like he was pretty vague and needed to hear what he said for a second time. Sure enough, his avian friend managed to fill me in on some vital details (smart beings they were) - including a certain dust which would corrupt and reanimate the land around it. "Uh..." Well, that was reason enough for me to leave. "...any idea as to how that started corrupting in the first place? 'Cause that sounds like somebody freed an eldritch being. And I know a bunch of adventurers won't come out alive from this... rather, dead in fact. Bloody - walking - dead." I grew rather assertive, probably not good considering I just met them and needed their trust. Despite this, I knew what I was going to get myself into. Probably among the dead, and not even being able to rest in peace. Just perpetually walking.

Well... "I hope you lads got a plan against that thing, 'cause tossin' that princess in there probably won't help anyone including us." I shifted uncomfortably, not really ready to cleanse the earth and be an adventurer. Then again, I only needed to stay with them for as long as I needed to (preferably until I could get a stable life - maybe I could even be a merchant). Besides, I needed to get out of this village, otherwise I'd be a perpetual zombie.

Then again, I did question the ability of this party. Everyone had pretty shoddy equipment and seemed to be inexperienced. "Oh, lord." I muttered to myself, grasping my mouth. I turned away briefly, before spinning quickly on my feet towards them. "Er, never-mind. My name's Miles Hall, a bit of a nobody around here. Let's get movin'."
Presumably to avoid conflict, Spruce accepted the fact that Daniel may or may not be evil, rather telling us to move on to move onwards. Maybe he was here to cause division in our group? No, Desia wouldn't be that smart... Arceus damn it. It's only been 6 days with this group and yet we're already calling names as to who's the spy or who's the minion. Seriously, we don't know who to trust anymore. Me and Spruce don't take to Daniel too well, whereas Pokemon like Josh, Anthony and even Celes seem to be rather trusting of him. (Not sure about Kamina, he doesn't seem to have any opinions.) Argh, Desia's played us so well that we can't even tell whether or not she ISN'T playing us at other times. This says a lot for a group that has to go up against her sooner or later, as poor decision-making would be the end of us really.

I didn't sneer at Daniel, but I still kept having bad thoughts involving him. Despite this, going head-to-head with him immediately probably wouldn't resolve anything - we'd have to get along with him, at least until he showed any signs of hostility against us. "Daniel, come with us. Don't want you alone with the wildlife, right?" I said to him, trying my best not to antagonise him while also making sure I could keep my single eye on him. What seemed to be a bright light flashed hit my eyes, but all I did was rub it off and assume that it was a side-effect of having these damned feathers. I grunted, realising that was Anthony evolving. I paid little attention considering I was little more concerned with myself at the moment. At that point of time anyway, not now - I had already accepted my fate here.

Anyway, Spruce inspected his map for a while, as if he didn't know what directions were (per usual). Sure enough, he ended up wandering off towards that giant looming mountain in the distance; the sheer size was imposing enough, with clouds moving around the mountain like a river does with a boulder. It was certainly a sight, something we somehow missed while fighting. "Alright lads, let's move then. Don't want to spend another night here, right?" I grinned with my eye, following Spruce who didn't seem to be lost this time.
That's good to know, honestly, given how much microtransactions annoy me in general. Also, sorry, I occasionally forget things, and then assume other things... in short, I'm an idiot, and I'm sorry for being an idiot.

Look at you talking about video games.

You have the same opinions as everyone around here. It's cute and amazing.
I had no idea what was happening, with all this commotion about moving the village and a damned human in their group. Not only that, but they seemed rather uninterested in my presence here - exactly what I needed. Honestly, I was a criminal, and should they be aware of that they'd turn me in at the soonest moment. I've never killed anyone, but cheating people out of all their money is definitely a crime around most parts after all. They were all squabbling amongst themselves, and when the guard left (after getting swamped with requests to help the elderly) I finally made my move.

"Phew, he's gone." I said, to anyone within our group really. That drunkard also left luckily, otherwise someone would have been killed. "Thanks for that, lads. Though, he's gonna try to mug me the next time he sets his eyes on me." Before, I grabbing onto some guy's arm and trying to make myself look as weak as possible. Now, I was finally able to stand up on both legs without feeling like anyone was trying to aim for my neck. I breathed a sigh of relief but I knew I couldn't stay around here. That also came with snapping back to reality and having the apparent leader of the group ask me a couple of questions, mainly about my weaponry. "Me? Well, I'm kinda unarmed actually. I'm bit of a pacifist, against other Kobold anyway. I just got a bunch of darts if anything."

"Actually, what's going on? What's all this about the entire village moving?"
I didn't sleep well that night. Whether because of the fact I was perched on a tree or still reeling from last night... well, I was quite uncomfortable with my new lifestyle. One could imagine me as a bird sooner or later, 'cause of the way I was beginning to act and appear. I swear to Arceus I woke up with more feathers surrounding me; whatever was going on, I was NOT impressed. It was probably Desia or the work of similar forces, because... because... ARGH!

"What do you want you bastards?!" I woke up angry and furious, though that died quickly. I could tell I had probably scared someone. "Ergh, sorry about that." I said with some angst, rubbing my magnets together. Heh, just a week ago I couldn't even have them touching without either repelling or attracting. Now... they were like a pair of claws to me, still able to conduct electricity but nothing more. What was I furious about though? I certainly didn't know. I just... well, just thinking of Desia made me twitchy. God knows what she could be doing - while figures like Daniel and Vine were reassuring as to the possible behaviours of Shadow Pokemon, it was unlikely that any further Shadow Pokemon we encountered were going to be friendly. That, and we still didn't know if Daniel was on our side... could be another trap by Desia. Though, if it was a trap, we would've been dead by now - no need to keep us alive any longer.

Regardless, I'm sure there was still something wrong with Daniel. A drone to keep tabs on us? Maybe. Just maybe. Even as he pecked at a wing of us, he could still backstab us at any moment. There was also Anthony, who was so trusting of Daniel like he was a friend of his. I dunno about you, but my opinion... well, I'm not gonna talk about opinions of Pokemon as I bleed out.

I didn't hear what Celes whispered as I came by, but I'd suspect her to be sympathetic to Daniel. "I'd keep an eye on him Spruce and Celes." I said to Celes, probably annoyed at what I said loudly earlier. "Maybe he was sent to keep tabs on us by Desia. If he was going to kill us, he would have done it in his sleep though." While I was looking at Spruce, I realised Kamina hadn't slept at all last night. "Then again, Kamina would've fought him off... so, I guess it's just pointing paws and talons against Daniel for then next few months days." I left soon afterwards, getting a weird rumbling and feeling of weakness in my chest. I was hungry. Damn right I was hungry, even for a Magnemite. "Spruce, got any food? Argh, never-mind. We'll just scavenge from whatever comes by." It was apparent that food wasn't exactly abundant and we'd likely have to ration our meals for the time being. So much for being prepared - we were going up against a huge bloody mountain, with possible blizzards and all sorts of cold-related hazards. Being hungry was possibly one of the most idiotic things you could do while going on a trek. At the same time, we didn't prepare to suddenly rest in the forest, instead being confronted by Team Zan and forced to rest early.

So, I just kinda looked around the place. It was certainly busy in the morning, though all I could do was rest on some small tree stump. "Yep, another day, another adventure." I muttered, inspecting my new feathers and nearly horrifying myself.
Before I could even make my move, I had a bunch of travellers by me and asking about my certain choice of equipment. I was somewhat disturbed by their interest in me for a bit, though I was more disturbed by the fact they actually had a... human companion. Were they mad? Around these parts, some people would be willing to make a necklace out of her teeth. That's not even talking about her possibly spreading word of this village, which... well, it wouldn't bode well for anyone. Most of the strangers looked tired and fresh out of a fight - which, incidentally coincided with their warnings about the cave. They didn't even tell me why, 'cause they ran off to startle some other Kobold and such. "What?" I let out, asking myself what just happened while they trailed off into the village.

I was leaning against the side of the entrance to the village, wondering where to go on from there. I flicked my hand while thinking about endless scenarios, with many 'yes' and 'no' decisions laying stuck in my mind. This wasn't too pleasing, especially as I knew I'd just be a lone wanderer around these lands. More importantly, I didn't want to be those guys; the people who'd run off only to turn up in human villages, stuck saying the same phrases and handing out the same quests and rewards. Now that was a scary thought, facing all those humans...

Before long, I figured I ought to find out what all the commotion was. I didn't have anyone exit the village for 10 minutes, which was bad for 'business.' Yet, I also heard all sorts of yelling and even witnessed a large crowd being formed (which due to the small size of the village made it even more shocking). I was careful to enter the village, knowing that a bunch of guards would be ought to stuff me into one of their jail cells. It would be disastrous for me if I was to be caught, as... well, jail isn't nice for many reasons. Sometimes the guards have their own rules, which varies from 'unpaid' fines to an aching pelvis and a few broken bones. (I actually had a former partner of mine describe his experiences at the local jail, and it was VERY disturbing.)

Anyway, the village was eerily quiet. Only few people were yelling out loud at and within the crowd, until they decided to disperse and rush to pack everything up. Suddenly I had my ears swarmed by sound and my shoulders bumping against everyone. I swear to God I had a guard catch a glimpse of my face and squint in this commotion, while I was also having to push through an endless amount of people who surely did not live in this village. In my panic, I ended up running through the crowd and bumping into that little group I met earlier, what with all their equipment and that REALLY odd princess (who's teeth hadn't been made into teeth yet). I kept face (as in I didn't make myself look aloof) and straightened myself, although that quickly dissipated when I realised that guard in the sea of people was still looking around and walking in circles. "Well, I'm glad you asked that question earlier, but I really do want to ask you a question first: can you hide me from, well-" Immediately, I jerked my arm out against a familiar face in the crowd - the drunkard, who was busy waving his bottle around and being pushed around by almost everyone. He was looking more and more pissed with each passing moment. "-that guy over there?! He wants to make a necklace out of me teeth, mate! You gotta help me!"
I'll admit I overreacted. I took WAY too long to actually start fighting again, what with me acting like a drama queen and darting my eye all around myself. Just why the heck did I have feathers? Well, I certainly didn't know, but it didn't mean I'd find an answer by stalling in the middle of a fight.

Speaking of which, I had noticed the remaining Pokemon were on their last legs, obviously defeated and being humiliated at this point. That would send a clear message to those idiots, who tried to uppercut us using nefarious tactics. Well, if they failed with that then I don't even know why they'd even bother the next time around. What would they do, grab a doomsday device and strap a team-mate onto it?

I calmed myself down, remembering I had cast myself something on the lines of Agility. "Oh, right!" Just as I was going to fight with the others, another random Pokemon (as if that random Beldum wasn't enough) dived in and essentially demolished that Sneasel, earning my appraisal as I mouthed 'woah.' Said appraisal dissipated quickly though; I wasn't sure what it was, but there was something off about that new guy. (New, new guy, not the Beldum - he was alright). Spruce was also in awe somewhat, asking for the mysterious figure's name, getting him to say 'Daniel' with a raspy voice. Celes looked at Spruce and then back to Daniel, while Kamina went on blabbering about something. I leered on, realising something quite grim once everyone's voice said the same thing: 'shadow.'

"Are you kidding me? He's a shadow Pokemon?!" I growled, moving through and brushing shoulders/magnet with Spruce. There was hostility in the air and surprised he even turned up: but the fact Daniel seemed to be capable of free will/attacking the right people... that refrained me from immediately electrocuting him. "They're damn right evil! We've spent half our journey battling Desia's minions!" I let myself go, barking but holding some guilt (and causing myself not to follow the rage I expressed during that battle). Not everything was black and white in this world, and I immediately turned down my tone when Celes suggested that by our logic, Spruce should also be somewhat villainous. "Alright then... alright Celes. Maybe it could be another one of her tricks though, or maybe he is in fact our saviour." I said, still tense but more calmly while ignoring whispers in our group.

Celes left to immediately go napping, leaving the rest of us who've apparently forgotten about this oddity. "I dunno about you 'Daniel', but some of us here aren't exactly used to seeing your kind around." I got a rather stern look from the Murkrow, but that was expected in response to my attitude. Anthony was also going to bed/sleeping under a shelter of a tree, though he did slip a fact he knew the Murkrow and wasn't prepared to let him go. Supposedly he was trustworthy, so maybe I was just being paranoid. I looked away from Anthony and back to Daniel, the background quiet as everyone snoozed off for sleep. "Just keep your feathers to yourself, we don't want trouble around here." I went off to follow the others, glancing at Daniel at least twice before resting on a branch peacefully. Just another day in this life, I guess.
I has returned, with 10 days of no school.

Bye.
Good news: final exams tomorrow, and I should be able to return early.

Bad news: I feel as if I've done rather badly through over-thinking (despite lots of studying), and I might have to pull a Lugia's Hand Rash tomorrow due to a growing sty in my eye. Makes my astigmatism worse and is unbearably annoying/itchy.
lil' busy.

Exams for next 3 days.
