Ted: I heard from my family that it's possible for one's conciousness to leave the body after a near death experience...

Tiane: Don't even joke about that...I didn't turn into a freakin' ghost!

Ted: I'm sorry...I just suddenly remembered that for some reason...but maybe the experience is similar somehow?

Tiane: No, it's not! Anyway, would be nice if time was stopped instead and we were teleported back here after we finished talking with the lady...But no! This had to happen...

Andorina: What are you all talking about?

Tiane: It's...kind of an absurd tale...right Rayla?

Rayla: ...

Tiane: Rayla? Hey! (Is she....shaking?)

Kaori: MISS RAYLA! YOU'RE NOT ON WATER ANYMORE!

Rayla: Wah!

Kaori: I noticed some fear in your voice when you said "Do I have so swim in this?"

Rayla: Well...

Ted: Oh that? Rayla doesn't know how to swim.

Tiane: Wait really? That's news for me.

Ted: I found out about it during last year's school trip to the beach park near the aquarium. Some of our classmates invited her but she said that she couldn't.

Ted: For the record, I can't swin either, which is why I usually bring some floaters with me. I've been making an effort to learn. (Since I have some free time now that I'm not perfecting my magic.)

Andorina: Hmmm....

Kaori: That won't answer her questions.

Ted: Right...we'll get to that...

Tiane: (Well...I better go to an isolated place if I want to speak with Azura again...)

Rayla: ...

Tiane: Water must be really terrifying for you. Was it some past trauma or simply fear of the unknown?

Rayla: The latter...I just never have been to a beach or a pool before...Nor I felt the need to learn how to swim.

Tiane: I see...Well, if you want any lessons, feel free to give me a call before you fall into a river or something. You really need to get this problem checked it out.

Rayla: Right... (She jokes about the river, but she has a point...)

Hiagor: WARGH!!!

He fell on the ground due to the sudden sound of his cellphone. He quickly got up and answered it.


Hiagor: (Why did I agree to put this outrageous ringtone on my phone again?) This is Hiagor speaking! What shady mystery do I have to solve for you?

Music: Main Lobby


Nancy: You seem in a hurry Mister Hiagor.

Hiagor: Whoa! Sorry...Didn't knew it was you on the line Miss Nancy...My bad.

Nancy: Did something happen?

Hiagor: Nothing that may worry you.

Nancy: I see...So, We've finally got permission to investigate that school on Winter District.

Hiagor: Wait, are you serious?

Nancy: I would also like for you to help them out.

Hiagor: Why? What I said is just baseless conjecture...Don't you think it's too early to make assumptions?

Nancy: That's what I told "that" person...but he insisted that we should do this as soon as possible.

Hiagor: Hm?

Nancy: Ah yes...you haven't met him yet...well, when you manage to bring Rayla here, then you'll know.

Hiagor: (Oh yeah, I still have to get to that. Judging by what I saw in that other dimension...Rayla is at Kaori's house at the moment...But since the police doesn't like me, they'll surely block my way...thinking that I may try to ask Kaori questions about her kidnapping.)

Nancy: Either way, You have until tomorrow to come here, or I'll send someone else to that school.

Hiagor: Right...Have a nice day.

Hiagor: It seems that Nancy's friend is the paranoid type...Isn't this how the mysterious organization acted towards Kaori? This is either a coincidence...or... (I better think about it when I meet this person...right now, I'll head towards Kaori's Home and wait for her friend's visit to be over. I'm also finding it weird that the police agreeded to help us out all of a sudden. It's just a guess after all...)

Hiagor: (Wait...Is this why Nancy called me for all along? When she meant help...she actually meant...Heh...So that's your plan huh? To lure out a possible attack of the mysterious group...quite a sneaky move on your part Miss Nancy.)

Rayla: D-Do I have to swim in this?

Tiane: Not my idea of having fun in the water...

Kaori: EH? But I've already had a bath not long ago...

Rayla: So I still have some doubts huh?

Hiagor: Even though we are sure of what we want to do...Guess I'm not self-aware enough of my feelings.

Tiane: (I know for sure that I still do have some doubts about what I want for my life.)

Rayla: ...Well then, I accept this task.

Tiane: I'm not backing off now.

Hiagor: You already know my answer.

As they said that, they also were inflicted with the sharp pain. Hiagor's left knee was burned with a pink-ish flame. He checked it and saw the mark of a shield.


Hiagor: (Interesting...Does this perhaps mirror my desire to save the city?)

Tatianna was burned with white flames on her left shoulder. She rolled up the sleep and saw the mark of a faceless figure in tears.


Tiane: (Is this supposed to be a reminder to not be afraid of my losses? Wow, I've actually remembered what this lady said to me.)

Rayla's right forearm was burned in light blue flames. She could see the mark from the back of her hand, but couldn't make it on what it was supposed to be. She rolled up her right sleeve.


The Brand was way bigger than she expected it to be. The mark of what looked like to be the blade of a spear was over her forearm.


Rayla: (What is this supposed to mean?)

Tiane: No fair...Rayla gets a cool looking tribal mark while I'm stuck with some symbolic imagery. I feel cheated.

Hiagor: What is it even supposed to mean? A sword? A spear?

Rayla: (Maybe it symbolizes the weapon I've refused to inherit? If so, why?)

Kaori: Are you sure you're not up for it Ted?

Ted: Not right now...sorry...

Kaori: I'm not even sure if I want to put my life in danger...Even if I knew how to use my powers, I don't think I would have the bravery you guys have.

Ted: I guess that's normal...I mean, you would be still pretty new at fighting.

Kaori: Though...if there was something that would make me consider joining you guys, is that If I managed to get something that would make me good at fighting ASAP. Do you guys have something like that?

Ted: There's no such thing. Even if the strenght growth of a ancestor mage is way faster than usual, we still have to train a lot to master our powers. (Plus, the compact glaive would still be too risky...It's still in prototype after all.

Hiagor: Still...you guys have it way easier...we Chi Masters have to undergo a MASSIVE trainning since young to awaken our aura...and some people drop half-way in due to how insanely hard it is.

Kaori: Interesting.

Rayla: That reminds me...Tiane, does the compact glaive have info about Chi Masters?

Tiane: Yes...and as you expect, I'm frustrated that I haven't been told of this sooner...but then again, you have to start since you're young either way...I wouldn't be able to achieve this in time before I got my hands on this device.

Rayla: (I wonder if she would even be interested in being my rival after undergoing that trainning. I've heard they teach a lot about discipline and self-control there.)

Tiane: Not even she knows...How are we supposed to respond to that.

Kaori: ...

Ted: (Urgh...If she saw a vision of exactly all ten of us...does it mean Kaori and Lilina really does have psychic powers?)

Rayla: (Are those two really going to be fighting alongside us? Is that what her vision really shows?)

Music: We Say Go


Hiagor: You know...The police's lackluster performance...The insane crimerate...Potential Psychic users being chased by a mysterious organization...The Four Comets ring being a thing...The strange destruction of Central Unitia...The monsters that attacked Rayla. All sorts of bad things are happening entirely in the city that the Ancestor Families helped to rebuild and protect. It all began when a bunch of our best warriors died during the civil war and it all went downhill from there...

Kaori: (Potential Psychic users?)

Rayla: What's your point?

Hiagor: That some mysterious force is acting behind the scenes...Some kind of major conspiracy is hiding under all of these events. This catastrophe that the Lady of the Lake has seen is most likely tied to this force well.

Ted: Do you have any clue on who or what this mysterious force might be?

Hiagor: Think about it...Our mayor, Baron Cid Crimson is the most carismatic politician this city had so far. Being a member of an ancestor family certainly helped with that. Yet all of his "efforts" aren't doing much...Okay, at least the population isn't on a major riot right now...but I'm sure he knows that might not last long if he doesn't do something.

Rayla: Wait...are you suggesting that Mr. Crimson might be involved in this conspiracy as well?

Hiagor: I've thought about this many times over...and this is the only conclusion that I can reach.

Rayla: No way...

Hiagor: Oh right, your father was friends with him right? They were quite the duo, or so I've heard.

Rayla: ...

Ted: (So Rayla had some trust in the Mayor...In the best friend of her father.)

Hiagor: Sadly, we can't confront him directly without any hard evidence of his actions. I suggest that we should destroy the Mysterious Organization and the Four Comets Ring first. We'll figure what to do about these mysterious monsters along the way. I'm not sure if there's a way to permanently get rid of them...I'm guessing they are going to get used against us sooner or later.

Ted: It seems that you've decided to join the cause without a second thought.

Hiagor: Ever since I've left the police force, I've commited myself to this cause. Even though the future might seen unknown and dangerous, I'm not going to turn my back to the city that I like so much. Even if I have to do it alone.

Rayla: You're not doing this alone.

Tiane: Rayla?

Rayla: Yes...I won't lie that I want to confront the Mayor about the death of my father...but I know what's more important. I want to make this city a peaceful place once more. Hiagor made me realize how foolish I've been...I'm letting his efforts being in vain.

Hiagor: I didn't do much really...If anything, I should apologize for being that violent on you.

Rayla: Don't be, I deserved it anyway.

Hiagor: No no...I went too far with that.

Rayla: You didn't. That's one of the ways to teach people a lesson.

Hiagor: You're only saying that because you beat up weaklings on a daily basis.

Rayla: What works on them works on anyone else as well.

Hiagor: Maybe don't use fear everytime...It would help a lot if you tried to talk once in a while.

Rayla: It's not like I don't try, but they never listen. You think I got strong because I liked it? Some of these chumps threaten people's lives...You think those are the type of people that would listen to reason?

Hiagor: Well...

Rayla: I understand your way of doing things, but you should know that fists can do the talking as well. I'm sure you're confident because you're strong, but what if you were just a normal guy?

Hiagor: Okay...I got it...

Ted: (He just lost his smile...Guess Rayla is the one calling the shots here.)

Rayla: Anyway, just to make sure you guys heard me, I'm in as well...or more like, I didn't even think of giving up.

Tiane: I've already said that I'm watching Rayla's back, and that won't change.

Hiagor: What about you Ted?

Ted: Not sure yet.

Hiagor: (He's saying it with a straight face.)

Ted: I'll certainly help you guys with research or something...Maybe I'll decide to fight if it comes to it. Right now, I have to watch over Kaori and Lilina.

Kaori: It's because we might have powers...right?

Ted: Yep...I was planning on telling you the circunstances of your kidnapping at your home...and really hoping that our hunch was wrong...but if The Lady of Lake said that you're one of the ten chosens...then that pretty much confirms that you have Psychic Powers and might awaken them at some point.

Kaori: Me...Having powers...No way...

Hiagor: We'll wait for you to process all of that. Pretty sure a civilian suddenly realizing they have powers can be quite the shock... (Specially something as new as Psychic Abilities.)

Ted: We're threading "Rayla's past" territory again...

Rayla: Yeah...So it would seem.

Kaori: (There's a hint of sadness in her voice...)

Hiagor: Ah yes...After Central Unitia was overrun by those monsters, my former superiors actually considered Rayla's "absurd" story to be possible.

Tiane: Ok...So some crazy event that's supposed to happen century after century is going to happen sooner than expected...I get that part. But why us?

Kaori: Why choose me? How can someone like me help in what it looks like to be a dangerous mission?

Ted: Well...whoever this is...It certainly wants us to meet it. Even though it's probably an otherworld being, we could still feel it...Or maybe...It let us feel its presence and most likely led us to Lilina.

Hiagor: Well, such otherwordly being has such an otherwordly voice in her, that's for sure.

Rayla: Huh?

Ted: T-That voice...Detective Hiagor?

Rayla: (Yep...The next one couldn't been more random than him.)

Hiagor: Hi everyone! I was starting to feel lonely.

Kaori: You don't sound lonely at all.

Hiagor: Y-You're... (Not only her, but Lilina as well...)

Tiane: What are you doing here?

Hiagor: You see...

Rayla: Actually, we know already.

Hiagor: Wait! I'm not here for Kao-

Rayla: We know. Stick with us for a moment.

Hiagor: Hm?

Rayla: Something big is going to happen. We might need you for now.

Tiane: W-What is happening? Where's the other guys? And what is this mist?

Kaori: This song again...

Rayla: So Kaori can hear it too...

Ted: This is cleary not normal. Rayla, let's see if we can sense something.

Rayla: Okay.

Both started concentrating, and moments later, they felt a presence, they went after it and found the Shadow Woman aparently staring at them.


Tiane: There you are! Tell us what is happening! NOW!

Rayla: Kaori, you're seeing this too right?

Kaori: Y-Yeah...You seem to know what's going on.

Rayla: Well...aparently, certain people have been seeing this mysterious figure, as well as hearing a song, but no one else could.

Kaori: It isn't just me?

Rayla: No. I'm not sure what this entity want from us.

Ted: Ah! It's running away.

Kaori: I wonder what it wants with us...I'm not feeling any malice from her voice.

Rayla: Malice?

Kaori: Yeah...Sorry if it sounds strange, but recently I've noticed the emotions in people's tone of voice...More cleary than normal.

Ted: Hmmm... (Wait...Does that mean...)

Kaori: I mean...I don't know who or what this Shadow Woman is...but I'm not really threatened by its presence.

Tiane: You say that...but...I don't feel comfortable at all.

Rayla: The rain stopped in time. The fog. The missing people. The mysterious woman and the song that only us can see and hear...All these weird events can surely scare or at least make someone suspicious.

Tiane: See? Rayla agrees knows what I'm talking about.

Rayla: But...If Kaori says It's safe, then I'll believe her.

Tiane: Are you serious? This is a hunch at best.

Ted: Maybe it's not... *shows the book to Tatianna*

Kaori: I would be living under a rock If I didn't knew about you Auror. You can thank your sister's popularity for that...

Kaori: It's really hard to avoid...You don't know how much squeals of gossiping girls I hear a day...You being one of the reasons...The other being of course, Masaru.

Rayla: (Seems like she isn't a fan of trends...Can't blame really her though.)

Kaori: And Kaito being a lunatic seems like business as usual.

Ted: Why is that?

Kaori: Because Ayame. She has a tendency for talking in a overdramatic way like she's in a animated show for some odd reason...Even though she means well about wanting hall monitors at school.

Andorina: Indeed. She's weird like that.

Kaori: Anyway, I don't mind that Lucent is shy. Just the fact that he had the bravery to come here visit me with his friends makes me happy. He doesn't need to talk much if he doesn't want to.

Rayla: Are you sure?

Kaori: Yep! I already know he has the courage. It's up to him to keep building it up.

Tiane: Oh hey, it's Nerdy Weapons Guy.

Tiane: Yeah. He's from the Guild. He can sum-

Rayla: (There's a bit more of police officers here than back at school...Though, I still feel like it isn't enough. Good thing someone from the Guild is here to fill the gap.)

Andorina rung the doorbell, and a few seconds later, Kaori opened it. The first thing she saw was Andorina lunging with a hug, which Kaori dodged by reflex, then quickly grabbed her by the hair just so she doesn't trip.


Jerry: (Such perfect dodging...)

Andorina: Wah! Kaori...we haven't seen each other in ages and you avoid my love hug like that.

Kaori: I just saved us from a trip to the floor. I know how overly emotional you can get.

Jerry: (I wasn't expecting this.)

Rayla: I'm having Reeta flashbacks right now.

Kaori: Anyway, welcome to my humble house everyone. I must thank you all for taking such a good care of my dorky friend.

Rayla: Well...She kinda entered our lives all of a sudden. Really glad she did though, we've been having such good times together.

Ted: You see...I'm an Ancestor Mage just like Rayla and Auror...but I just can't bring myself to hurt people...It was my firm grip of this way of thinking that got you in this mess. You were screaming for help...but I didn't answer to the call.

Kaori: I...see...

Andorina: ...

Kaori: You said your name was Ted right? You know you could've just hid that fact from me...Yet you choose to tell me anyway.

Ted: (Airships huh? I wonder if we can make those...I mean, someone from Underground Unitia probably suggested it at some point...)

Out of boredom, Tiane started to inspet her Compact Glaive again.


Tiane: ...

Ted: (Then again, with how dangerous technology can get, its best if we take it slow. The reason why the development of advanced tech is being kept secret un the underground is because the public isn't ready enough for it. It would be a disaster if anything from there gets leaked. Though, I wonder...If the glaive is part of this advanced tech.)

Tiane: What's with the intense stare.

Ted: Just thinking about how busy my sister is with guard duty right now...

Tiane: Sister? Oh right, that "Miko-looking" girl huh? (I'm really not looking foward on meeting her again...As if I don't get enough lectures already...)

Ted: (I'm still eagerly counting the days...Just a few more and Cousin Hina's training will be complete.)

Jerry: I've been feeling a rather good smell for a while.

Kaori: Mom is making cake for the visitors.

Jerry: Ah right...Your friends.

Jerry: Even though its our job to inspect them, I'll try.

Kaori: Good. Anyway, does the police want cake as well?

Jerry: There's no need to. Don't let us get in your way. This is supposed to be your moment after all.

Jerry: We'll do our part in keeping this place safe. Make sure to have lots of fun.
