Huh, this seems pretty cool. I've joined the OOC discord and am thinking up a character concept right now!
Edward Lachance

Guest Starring: Rodrick, Helena

Edward was a little weary of Rodrick's intense stare as he approached, it was as if Rod was a predator waiting for Ed to make an error so he could strike. Ed had expected something like this of course, Rodrick was an intense guy and they had gotten off on the wrong foot. What Edward didn't expect was the sudden appearance of Helena. He didn't realize she was even in this class, but she suddenly appeared as soon as Edward finished his offer. It was strange certainly, that she was so invested in Edward and Rodrick becoming friends, but Ed never looked a gift horse in the mouth. It appeared it was only with her steely glare that Rodrick deigned to join Ed for ice cream.

"Thanks Helena." Edward said, a grin on his face. "You wanna come too? This stuff IS pretty amazing?" He asked. But he already knew the answer. Who would turn down ice cream? So, once he got her response, Ed would lead them all to the ice cream parlor on the island.

Despite the coach's vague answer, Edward was happy with the response he was given. He was glad to hear that Aresvius was okay. Given what he gathered listening to the teachers and that Noah guy, he may not have been a bad person, and he did seem to just be a kid like everyone else here. Regarding said Noah's Descendant, Bakusatsu gave a pretty middling response, but it was an honest middling. They weren't 100% on what all was happening, but they'd try their damnedest to make sure no harm came to their students, as they proved the night before. It helped ease Edward into actually participating in class instead of miming kata-- he followed the Coach's shadow clone's instructions on how to generate chakra through meditation. Something more slow paced like that was definitely more his speed after the exhausting night he'd had previously.

Once class was all over, most stayed put for a moment to recoup. Rodrick was one of said people, and Ed knew it was probably in both of their best interests to have an honest, frank conversation about their relationship. Hopefully now that Rodrick had seen first hand how useless Ed was in a scrap, the two could become more friendly, and less murder-y. And what put people in a less murder-y mood than sweet frozen treats?

"Hey Rod." Edward said, approaching the noble with a wave and a small smile. "Thank you for your help last night. I would have been dead in the water without you so I wanna introduce you to one of earth's delicacies. My treat."

Edward would never forget last night, but simultaneously, many of it's details were... hazy to say the least. Seeing that ice palace, for the first time, and when it became bathed in crimson, those vistas were seared into his skull. Aresvius being pierced, almost watching another young man die... that too, would stick with him forever. But the fight in between, while it seemed to last forever in the moment, he couldn't place much more than the emotion of it all. Fear. Complete paranoia as these magical forces he had just begun to understand clashed right in front of his face-- even trying to kill him! Luckily, Lorelai and Rodrick were there, along with a variety of other students, that ended up protecting him, along with the teachers that swooped in like Power Rangers. Their P.E. teacher's entrance is also something he'd remember forever.

But if there was one thing to take from yesterday, it was that Ed was out of his depth. He'd never been in a fight in his life until Rodrick came along, and the princling who just two days ago seemed to want his head was about all that stood between him and a cold, cold casket. Hopefully Ed's complete ineptitude in that fight helped show Rodrick just how wrong he was about Ed being special. Or at least, intentionally special. Previously, Ed had felt out of his element in a very positive way. He was being introduced to this amazing new world that he had always dreamed of... but last night Ed felt the flipside of that. Being new, and weak, and powerless and confused. It kept Ed up all night. He just wanted to hold onto Ramyu or Rodrick or Lorelai and never let go, because otherwise he'd get squashed like a bug.

This paranoia followed him through the rest of the day, along with his lack of sleep. For once, he couldn't take any notes in his classes. Ramyu and Rodrick were also no where to be found, but as his afternoon P.E. class rolled around, he noticed a peculiar coincidence. Or at least it was framed as a coincidence, but it couldn't be. Everyone present during last night's... affair, sans the other teacher, was here. All beat tired, obviously, but here nonetheless. Ed listened as intently as he could, expecting some kind of follow up on what had happened, or at least a confirmation that Aresvius was still breath, but it never came. Coach just talked about ki and chakra and what not. Normally, Ed would be all over that but he just couldn't focus on that today. Even if he wanted to get stronger.

He could gab at Lorelai or Rodrick but for some reason he didn't feel ready. Maybe it was the shame of not having participated in the fight, or how tired they were, but he struck up a conversation with Mr. Bakusatsu instead. Pretending to be working on his Kata, Ed slowly inched closer to the coach, and waited for an opening, when he wasn't instructing any students, before semi-whispering to him.

"Uh, hey, coach Bakusatsu, Is Aresvius okay? Is that Noah's descendant guy gonna show back up again soon?"

Golden week passed by for Edward far too fast. After his horrifying encounter with Rodrick he mostly found himself staying inside with Ramyu and working on his spellcraft. He bumped up that sort of thing in importance, knowing there was someone out there insane enough to try and kill him in broad daylight. The first incantation he would learn, then, would be something useful for self-defense. He pushed himself hard, and ended up nailing down the basics of Arcture Academics' Elemental Blast, though all he had so far was the Light element version. Ramyu did so too, but admittedly she only did so to pass her and Ed's class, and would promptly be forgetting it after. Edward had treated her to a nice lunch at a cafe after all of their studying was done, but it certainly took some convincing-- he even forced Ramyu to bring one of her more concealable blades.

Luckily, the week did indeed pass without incident despite Edward's fears. Unfortunately, afterwards he could no longer hide in his room, and would have to rejoin society to attend his classes once the ninth hit. He and Ramyu would have to be apart for at least some of those classes, so he took two precautions assuming fate wouldn't keep Rodrick from seeing Edward forever. Firstly, he began keeping a small novelty switchblade/comb he had gotten for his birthday on his person as a form of insurance. Secondly, he made sure to report what had went down between the two of them first thing in the morning to Ed's homeroom teacher, Utsumi. The young teacher assured Edward action would be taken, though Ed had a feeling it wouldn't be a substantial prison sentence or restraining order like he hoped. Either way, it was something, and left Ed feeling more prepared than before about his inevitable encounter with Rodrick one day.

He was not prepared for that day being today however. The last class of the day was something Ed was a bit interested in, Shinto style exorcism of Yokai and Demons. He took notes eagerly and excitedly, hoping to make a few protection talismans for himself and coat the inside of his jacket with them or something else he often wore. Once the bell rang and he began packing all of his stuff up, though, Lorelai, who admittedly he had completely forgotten about much to his dismay, called to him... as well as Rodrick and Helena. Rodrick was glaring at Ed something fierce, it seemed. In fact it seemed Rodrick had been doing so for a significant portion of the class without Ed's knowledge, just a few rows behind him.

"Uh-hum... s-sure, Lorelai..." Edward mentioned, slyly positioning himself behind her, and moving his hand to the pocket where he kept his knife. "Hey, Rod. You uh... you're not gonna try and kill me again right buddy? Since I'm just lucky and really not in any way special or powerful or magic or anything. Also Ramyu would totally kill you back for me, she mentioned hating your guts, hehe... Anyways! Talismans, right, let's all go work on them, right team?"
Jude sighed in frustration as Mad Dog gave him her other friend's fake name instead of her own real name. He supposed he probably should have been a bit more clear on the subject... but was she genuinely stupid, or just didn't want to give out her real name for some reason? There was a degree of comfort that Jude got when people online referred to him as a username instead of his real name. Maybe the strangers here weren't so different, and he was being mean bu trying to get them to reveal their real names. Especially the people his age who had adults to worry about.

Jude's ever running internal monologue was cut off once more as Penny aggressively snatched the pair of glasses he was handing her out of his grasp. This elicited a small 'eep!' but not much more, as he knew being able to see trumped social niceties. He was a bit odded out by her taking a strike at the unarmed, half-conscious Lou... but he had hurt them all, hadn't he? And he was clearly a bad person... He let his conflicted feelings slide for now. She was the one person he knew and raising a stink about this wouldn't help at all. They needed to explore, which 'Hellmouth' began to do immediately, combing the beach for helpful detritus like the handbag he started on. Jude turned to Penny.

"I guess I'll just go wherever you want to, if that's alright? We could head into the jungle with those parents, that would probably give us the best chance of finding supplies but they might already have that place pretty secured. There's also that rocky area over there but that'll probably be a big pain to get around. Not that I'll complain to much if you do wanna go there, ehe..."

Guest Starring: Rodrick

The two young men, after their little platonic double date of the Earth residents showing the Arcanis residents around the school, ended up breaking off from the ladies. Rodrick had displayed some interest in the outdoors fields for sports, while Helena did not, so Edward opted to guide him there. He enjoyed soccer, it was probably the sport he played the most, but he was a pretty casual sportsman. His interests lied in magic now, and before… well he got out enough, but he was no athlete. He wouldn't get in the way of a new friend joining the soccer club, however. He'd encourage it even. It'd be a good opportunity for him to really 'get' what Earth was all about. He had many questions after all, like education. Ed answered that one lickety-split.

"Basically, yeah. All first world countries, the ones with easy access to plumbing, electricity, roads, stuff like that, all teach the same four basic things. Language, maths, science, and history. The language and history you learn is your own country mostly, but the maths and science is based on knowledge from all around the world we've compiled. I never thought about it from outside before, but that is pretty cool if I say so myself." Ed explained, a smile on his face from his realization. This smile would soon become crooked, and awkward however. Once Edward had finished, Rodrick turned to him and told Edward to 'show his skills' while 'not holding back.' Maybe this was a common thing in Arcanis? It was a world ripped straight from games and comics, and he had heard those words plenty of times from rival characters and the like. Assuming that was true, Ed didn't want to seem like a jerk… but he didn't have any real skills to show, and he certainly wasn't in the mood to fight.

"W-well, I can do this?" Edward said, holding up his thumb and 'striking' his index finger like a match or a lighter. The air above his thumb sparked into a small flame for a moment before snuffing out, no fuel to support the burning. Rodrick was not impressed with this. With a sneer, he waved his icicle cane and light mesh of ice came flying out of it, straight towards Edward. Thinking quickly, he drew his right arm upwards diagonally, the standard motion to summon forth a Light Buckler. He shut his eyes tight with a shout, expecting the ice to hit him dead on, but after a few moments he opened his eyes and saw Rodrick had missed, intentionally presumably.

"Uhm, R-Rodrick?" Edward went to say. But he wasn't quick enough on the draw. The ice magus was already rushing towards Edward, performing a motion Edward guessed was to cast another spell. He dropped to the ground prone in a bid to avoid the now-forming icicle barrage being flung at him, and shot a Flashball from his palm with an emphatic 'Ha!!' The spell was pathetically weak, not doing much at all Rodrick despite hitting him dead on, but that harsh light suddenly produced proved enough to temporarily daze him. Blinded, the royal child incanted "O' loyal men of the Snow Queen, come to my aid!" and an ice sculpture of a warrior sprung from the ground in front of him. Edward was wise to stay prone as the thing flung more ice directly forwards, just above Edward's head.

Edward rolled a few feet away on got back to standing as efficiently as he could, eyes kept on Rodrick the whole time. What in the hell was this guy doing suddenly attacking Ed? Had he been offended somehow, or was this just how violent most members of Arcanis were? He had gathered Ramyu had been some kind of gladiator from a young age, but was the place really so barbaric royalty lashed out at the commoners with magic?

"Rod, stop! What are you doing?" Edward asked. Rodrick rubbed the stars out of his eyes as his snowy guard dissipated into water and responded. "If you will not share your knowledge willingly, I will make you! The full moon your spotlight, let your dance slay the enemies of the queen!"

Another ice sculpture, this one of a much taller, beautiful woman, adorned with dancer's garb and two thin scimitar, shot up from the ground. Edward, terrified, immediately began running away from the thing. It beset him with astounding speed, it's myriad slashes and kicks barely dodged, almost all by pure luck. As he was being attacked, Edward begged with his assailant. "Rodrick I'm sorry!! I don't know any magic besides what I just cast, I promise!! Please, I'm just some dumb kid, all I did to get in here was be lucky okay!!!"

With a snarl, Rodrick whipped his hands forwards and de-summoned his forces. Gasping for breath and sweating bullets, Ed turned back to the silver-haired young man. There was a terrible look on his face, like he hated Edward for even existing. All he said to Ed before turning around and leaving was this:

"Hmph. I will uncover your tricks, Edward. There is no man lucky enough to change fate like that."

Edward, entirely alone in the middle of the soccer field, covered in sweat and shaking, dropped to the ground and stared up at the starry sky.

"What a great way to start vacation..."

Guest Starring: Ramyu Tal'saif, @Lonewolf685, Helena, Rodrick

Edward did not get a chance to respond to Rodrick's offer before Ramyu butted in.

"I am busy actually. Not all of us are blessed with tutors before we are taught the blade. I have mathematics to catch up on. Thank you very much for the food and drink, Lorelai. I'll be taking my leave now."

She was not interested in getting to know this man better or be his chauffeur, especially after getting dragged around by Lorelai. She polished off her sandwich and stood up, exiting the building. Edward knew better than to stop her, so he let the awkward moment pass silently. Hopefully he could work out what soured her later-- for now she wanted to be alone and he'd respect that. More time to get to know new friends, he reasoned. Once Ramyu was out the door, Ed turned to Rodrick.

"Sorry about that, she's a bit gruff. Anyways, I didn't have anything pressing today so I'm down to show you the ropes. The academy is a big place, so it would be smart to get to know it before you have 10 minutes to find each of your classes haha. I think they have some maps at the front desk, but it's better to just get a handle on where everything is by memory."
Edward Lachance

Guest Starring: Ramyu Tal'saif, @Lonewolf685, Helena, Rodrick

Edward listened intently to the other people speak after his little rambling session, eager to hear his new acquaintances thoughts on both Japanese culture and also Earth culture, seeing as he had both people from Arcanis and someone who was from Earth, but may not have been Japanese. Helena and Lorelai were too busy eating to pitch in, so Rodrick said a little bit about his experience in Arcanis in regards to holidays. His speech was a little bit... demeaning, it was clear to Edward that Rodrick wasn't used to speaking to a 'commoner' even if Ed himself was quite wealthy. He simply didn't give off that vibe. Ed figured it was probably not intentional, and Rod was simply speaking in the way he usually did. Ed wasn't too torn up about it, and Ramyu... well, she knew this kind of guy, and hated him, but she didn't say it. At least not yet.

Then Rodrick turned the floor back to Edward, Lorelai and Ramyu. He was interested in their reasons for studying here. Lorelai went first, with a cute, earnest answer and a mention of fate and family. Edward chuckled.

"Speaking of fate, I actually enrolled here on accident. I just wanted to study abroad in Japan, but I applied here and managed to trick them into thinking I have magic powers or something haha. But now that I'm here, I definitely wanna make the world a better place. Not everyone has the luck I do." Edward said, a tiny bit embarrassed at admitting he had gotten here entirely by chance, and also bearing his dreams for the future. Ramyu followed up, presumably to try and save him from any awkward questions.

"I just wanted to get away from the old man, and all of the violence. I'm not sure if I have the skills to do anything else, but at the least I'm being given a break."
Jude was happy to hear Mad Dog agreeing with him, even if it was Penny he actually wanted to follow. Speaking of Penny, she absolutely flipped her lid at him for refusing to be helped. All Jude could do in response to that was meekly put his hands up and accept the healing. If that was what would make everyone happy, so be it, he guessed. Whilst the healing was going on, Penny reminded Jude about her glasses situation. He was still focusing on keeping all of the glasses reflective-- he totally forgot. With a sigh of relief, he let go of all of their properties and returned them to regular old shitty glasses, except the pair he was wearing, which were actually Penny's original pair. He handed them over.

"Sorry for using your glasses haha... they were the least reflective so, yaknow I didn't want anyone to have to deal with that." Jude rambled as he scratched at his face. Once the healing was all done, Mad Dog and her pal decided to talk strategy. Mad Dog's epithet apparently allowed her to get her hands on drinkable water just fine. Immensely useful in this situation, and crossed one need off of the list. She suggested looking for both food and those kids simultaneously, since water was no issue. Jude couldn't help but agree... even if she was being a weird dork about it.

"I-uh, agree with... Mad Dog. What's your name-- if, yaknow, if you wanna tell me."
