Samus's suit was going crazy.
Though, it would be more accurate to say her suit's computer systems were going haywire. The city they were in was dimensionally unstable, the suit kept detecting regions disappearing and then being replaced, apparently with beach fronts serving as "filler" between these regions. Which is why the beach they were on was populated only by their group, nobody else was on it. Samus approached the densest group there, which was currently Bee, Okuu, Rawk, and Jack, and said, "We don't want to linger on this beach for long. It's likely to not be here for long."
Gaunt, however, approached Ajax, Pete, and Link. He didn't usually linger on these beach fronts, but these people were so obviously new to Cynosure it surprised him they managed to clear the sector before its dimension phased out of alignment with the city. "Look, as nice as this beach is, you don't want to linger here. You never can tell how long it'll take before another dimension phases into alignment, and you don't want to be here when it does." Sure enough, if they looked around, they'd see the beach was just a square, even in the distance when they look out to the "ocean", just physical space filling in for an actual dimension so Cynosure wouldn't have pockets of Void all over the place. "Since we'll be working together a while, we might as well use the same bar to rest up. Your dragon friend paid quite a sum to get my services." Gaunt was almost suspicious, but he'd never been one to worry about where money came from.
