The best kind of tea appeals to the drinker's palate. If they're drinking sweetened tea for its sweetness, chances are they're drinking the wrong kind of tea. Furthermore, nothing precludes someone who wants sweet notes in their tea from including dried fruits or other sweet components in their own blend. That being said, bitter tea can be equally desirable in its own right. As I pointed out in an earlier response, there are different flavour modifiers a person can use, but I'm a firm believer in the idea that you should start with a known quantity. You take the tea in its most basic form, and you add things to it as you go. But if you begin your tea journey with something another person has already changed and modified to suit their own sensibilities, you might be missing out entirely on the most exquisite or subtle notes that might appeal to you.
That's probably too many words about tea, all in all.
