WELCOME Tales of Aragon is a sandbox roleplay set in a medieval/fantasy land, the name of which can be found in the title. For those of you who aren't familiar with the term "sandbox", it basically means that this roleplay is purely for free roam and character development. There is no designated plot, but many intertwining plots instead. Your original characters will create the many twists and turns of our story, which means character growth and interaction is
vital.
Additionally, Tales of Aragon is a multiple race friendly RP. You can play as any race or species that you want, and may even create your own. However, there are some races that hold greater status than others. In the land of Aragon, humans are treated lowly by other races, but this is merely to encourage players to think outside of the box! Clearly, you may not create any character greater than my abilities as your GM.
RULES 1.] You may only create up to 4 active characters at a time. If you want additional characters, you must kill off or otherwise deactivate one of your other characters.
2] Magic is allowed, being that this is a fantasy RP, however- you may not kill, harm, force, or otherwise control another character without that players permission.
3] Romance, violence, and personal rendezvous are encouraged! But please keep all sexual encounters PG-13 (no cybering) or take it to PMs.
4] You are welcome to post as often or as frequently as you wish- but only if your character(s) have been addressed. Do not post spam or unnecessary filler. Additionally, if you go without posting for more than a whole week (7 days), I will deactivate your character until your return. If you are gone more than 2 weeks without notice, your characters will be permanently deactivated (killed).
5] I expect post quality to be high. This means no one liners, no text speak, and no crap. Please spell check your posts and make sure they are accurate. Try to keep a minimum of 2 paragraph responses.
6] Have fun. It is, after all, it is meant for enjoyment.
ARAGON Aragon is a vast land complete with multiple terrains, such as
grasslands,
mountains,
forests, and
deserts. There are rivers, lakes, and hot springs where water can be sourced- but tread lightly, for you know not all that lurks in the shadows. Of course, there are many villages, townships, and cities within, some of which will be listed below. You are welcome to make up places as you go, but please let me know beforehand so I can add it to this list.
*additionally, because this is a medieval setting- there will be no electronics, jeans, or any modern technology. In case that wasn't already clear.
**This setting is somewhat based on middle earth.
Dragoncrest
Dragoncrest is one of the larger townships of Aragon. It is a laketown, meaning it is surrounded by freshwater and you need a boat to leave the area. Here you will find the cobblestone streets are bustling with activity- trade is often conducted by merchants where you can buy and sell goods. Barber shops, blacksmith, pharmacy, and tailor shops can all be found here. On the more rogue side of things, you are more likely to run into a hardened criminal here because one of the biggest black markets functions under the radar. Illegal substances, potions, weapons, and armor will be found. Be careful walking these streets alone- it is highly populated with blood suckers.
The Enchanted Forest
Across the lake is a thick forest best traveled with company or during daylight hours. At night it can be a tad hard to navigate and many a mans poor souls have been lost there forever. But, with a little experience and patience, you will find many rare plants needed for pharmaceutical reasons grow here. The forest is enchanted, meaning unlike a normal boring forest, it is alive with magic and is home to many creatures- some friendly, others not so much.
Si'Hansha
A city east of Dragoncrest, the hot desert sands of Si’Hansha are ruled by the Alexandrian Clan (see: Sunshine_x's character). Si’Hansha is exclusively a city for immortals; the only humans who enter the city are used as slaves and blood bags. Only a fool would travel into the desert that personifies hell. You may get in, but unless you are extremely skilled, you may never get out- alive.
The Badlands
The Badlands is a stretch of desert lasting many miles which is inhabited by uncivilized tribes and creatures. Being just southeast to the Si'Hansha desert, it holds a bad rep for being extremely hard to survive- hence the name. Legend says that it holds a portal to another realm, and that demons often travel through the land, disguised as mortals. The badlands are better avoided, unless you're an expert navigator or you're just feeling lucky.
MORE TO BE ADDED RACES Below is a list of common races. Of course you may feel free to create any race you do not see on here.
Humans are of course the predominant race of Aragon- yet they are also one of the weakest. Being a human has it's advantages, but more often than not a human of Aragon will be regarded as prey to the more supernaturally gifted races.
Vampires of Aragon, unlike your nightmares, are very real. Despite most folklore, they can travel in the sunlight- just not for very long and they prefer the darker things in life. Like shade. Vampires feed on blood- any blood, not just human blood, although they do sometimes prefer it. You can tell a vampire from a human in many ways. For one, they often have polished appearances and an unmistakable glimmer in their eyes. For two, they are very fast, have superhuman strength and have razor sharp fangs. Dragoncrest, our main township, happens to be run by them- literally.
Werewolves are a vampires natural enemy, whixh would explain why you probably won't see many of them in Dragoncrest. They don't much care for crowded towns anyway as they usually hail from the enchanted forest and its surrounding villages within the mountains. They change from a normal humanoid form to a vicious lethal beast on impulse- so beware. No full moons needed.
These are heavy magic users. Usually taking on a humanoid form, witches, mages, and wizards are experts when it comes to the art of magic. Don't get on their bad side, that's all I'm saying.
*Those who choose to be a magical race, you are limited to THREE POWERS. Choose wisely.
This predominantly female species hails from the forests and control all that is nature. They are one with their element and come off as innocent. However, they are actually very mischievous and will have you on a goose chase if you aren't careful.
*Significant powers include making things grow, controlling plants and animals, talking to plants and animals, and controlling the wind and sunlight.
Sirens, often compared to mermaids, are beautiful creatures who spend most of their time exploring the deep. They can be found in lakes, oceans, and anything bigger than a pond. Although beautiful, you must approach with caution, as they will do all they can to seduce their unfortunate prey with their sexuality. Unlike mermaids, Sirens can change form and walk on land but only temporarily as they need water to survive longterm. They like to reel their prey in and then drown them before devouring the evidence. Enough said.
Elves in Aragon are not your typical short cute cookie makers. They are tall, often slender and fit, and have the classic pointed ear. Elves are usually fair skinned and have unusual eye colors like purple, red, deep blue, and even white. They are master archers, and are very connected to mother nature. They hail from forests and often travel in groups. While polite at first encounter, and wildly intelligent, you don't want to cross these guys. They can either be your most trusted friend or your worst enemy.
Big, ugly, and beast like fellas. They are tall, often exceeding heights of 7 feet. They have short tempers and can hunt like no other. They excel in strength and durability.
These 3rd dimension freak shows are from a much scarier, darker realm not accessible to the living. They can shape shift into humanoid forms in order to fit in, but their intentions are usually not so good. They look down on humans but tend to get along with vampires.
*Demon characters have the option to teleport short distances, possess other people and animals, and are immortal- mostly because they aren't even technically alive.
Courtesy of Mysticbluekitten. Previously known as the Feline, how ever, due to mass killing, the race has become almost non-exsitant. Due to this, their name was changed to fellen (a mix between fallen and feline) as an act of mockery. The fellen are cat-human creatures that have hidden claws that can range from 6 inch- 18 inch. They can also see in the dark and can transform into lions/tigers/leopards(each fellen is different, but can not transform into all three, only one).
*Dwarves, or Duergar (Duerg) as they call themselves, are short humanoids native to the forests of Aragon. They are usually no more than a meter tall, but make up for that in weight and strength. It is common among dwarves men to grow and tend a bushy beard, while dwarven women are expected to tend their hair in a similar manner. Tradition is very important to the dwarves, and they're very superstitious. They live in small families which are part of bigger clans. Dwarves are famous for their craftmanship, be it smithing, carpenting or masonry, and are very fond of mead and music. They're quick to anger and judge easily, but aren't very keen on violence. A typical dwarf lives to be 150 years old, and counts as an adult at 30.
