Yay! I do try to make good characters.
Posted in the Character section. It's kinda lame, but...
Name: Rose Kirschenbaum

Age: 23

Height: 5'4"

Weight: 110 lb

Appearance: (image courtesy of Azalea's Dolls dollmakers and Photoshop)

History: Rose was a mere mortal, save for an inexplicable gift for knowing what people will need just by looking at their face. Raised as a good Jewish girl in a good Jewish family, her life was completely uneventful and perhaps a little boring... until a creature from another world heard rumor of her power and kidnapped her from the library where she worked. Because she wouldn't stop struggling, he lost hold of her on the road between worlds, and she was swept off to elsewhere. Waking up in an unfamiliar land, all this mortal knows now is that life as she knew it is over...

Skills: Always knows what people need, quick study, empathetic, retains knowledge well. Rose also has a talent for finding missing things (this is essential for working in a library).
Alright, I was just wondering if it had to be approved first.
Do I submit a profile on the ooc thread, then?
Hmm, so trying to figure out how to shove my very much under-powered human OC in there. Her power of knowing what people need is a support power but very useful and potentially coveted... Perhaps a Jotun heard about it and kidnapped her from Midgard with the hopes of forcing her to use her powers for him, but accidentally dropped her between worlds so she wound up swept to Asgard by mistake. If that's possible with their new world-travel technique, I mean.
Alrighty!
Oooh, that sounds like fun. So the player characters could be guarding the power source... or maybe it's already stolen and they're giving chase. Maybe the players are captured and have to escape, hopefully with the power source in possession. Perhaps the turmoil around that power source is causing nasty things to the geography, making it even harder to do what they need to do. All sorts of sweet options. :P
I Beg Your Pardon makes an excellent hook and definitely gets things moving right off the bat. So then the question would be, who is being attacked? Will all the characters be attacked together by NPCs, or will they be set against each other from the start? What is the motivation? Most of the time things don't just happen for the evuls (though I suppose that also counts as a motivation, really). Maybe it's an insert-cool-name-here-thing-of-powerful-whatever that everyone wants (see Breaking and Entering, How Much for Just the Dingus, or Quest for the Sparkly Hoozits). Maybe they need control over a place (Capture the Flag, No One Has Soiled the Bridge). Maybe it's because they're about to get caught up in a Troublemakers plot. Just suggestions, please tell me if I'm being annoying, I just love to plot.
That's always a good idea, too. There is also the Big List of RPG Plots that you can use as a plot-generator: just roll the amount of plots (33-34) on a roll generator twice. The first one you get is the 'hook', the second one is the 'meat'. The plots are extremely generic so that they can fit any world or situation, and the writer offers some nice twists and curveball suggestions under each plot.
