Ash's fatigue dropped to a manageable level about twenty minutes after they arrived, allowing him to move to the chair next to the phone. Stomach growling he picked up the line, and it immediately started ringing.

"I hope Eric was right about it being free" He muttered softly to himself

"Service desk, this is Erica. How can I be of help to you?" Said the perky vampire on the other line

"Um.. yes this is Ashburn. Do y'all have some food we can order?" He asked timidly, feeling like a dork

"Of course sir!" She replied happily "We can get you anything you need, and of course it is compliments of the owners."

"Um just anything but burgers or grilled cheese" He said lamely, not really prepared to choose anything

"I'll have the food right up! Is that going to be for the both of you?" She asked

"Um yes, we're pretty hungry."

"To be expected for conditions." She said understandingly

"Thank you very much ma'am" He said before putting the phone down

With time to burn Ash decided it best to go get cleaned off. Walking stiffly to the room across from where Eric went Ash found what must be his room. To tired at this point to really care he just looked around for the door to the bathroom and went in. The sight of the massive walk in shower, complete with a bench, was a sight so beautiful it almost brought tears. A month of showering in a hell hole with little water pressure had given him very low standards for a shower.

He quickly stripped and put his clothes in a pile in the corner. The freedom from his tight jeans was liberating and made him feel less confined. The shower was a complicated mess of nozzles and valves to control a dozen different shower heads, all placed at different places in the shower. It took about two minutes of cussing but he finally figured out that the big screen in the shower was also the control panel for everything. Set to a nice warm shower he was soon engulfed in a a warm spray coming from every side, cleansing him of the dirt and grime of a month of torture. After using a shampoo bottle he found in the shower, with the hotel's label, and a body wash he felt like a king.

Ash sat on the floor to enjoy the feeling of the shower. He loved showers and found them therapeutic. Without really knowing it he drifted off to sleep there on the floor. His back against the bench and his naked body sprawled loosely in the massive shower.

As he slept there was a knock at the door, just as Eric was himself sitting in the living room.

"Room service" Erica said, but Ash didn't hear. He was fast asleep in the shower, feeling more relaxed than he had been in ages. His scar from the ceremony the only flaw on his smooth alabaster skin.

relaxed, calm, very hungry

"Bark...Bark. Me neither, hey look at me, is there to much blood stained on me."

Ash just couldn't control himself, he hit the brakes as he buckled over in laughter at this situation. Here the were, two demons-to-be, covered in dried blood, barely showered and looking like they had shopped at good will for kids. All while apparently checking into what must be one of the most beautiful hotels in the city.

"No I think you have just the perfect amount of blood. Anything more would just scream "mental institution escapee"." Ash joked as he finally calmed down enough to finish pulling up to the valet

'Valet? Oh sh*t Mabel really has a sick sense of humor.' He thought

Embarrassed, overwhelmed

The valet, surprisingly, didn't even bat an eye at the loud mid-sized pickup truck puttering up to him. He didn't even blink when Ash put the truck in park and got out, barefoot and wearing clothes that looked comically small on him. Ash couldn't help but be impressed at his professionalism, especially for a man wearing a full suit.

The valet was a middle aged man, with some grey hair showing, but was very neatly shaving. The contrast between him and the beat up pickup was almost comical.

"Welcome to the Hotel Wescott gentlemen. If I may have your keys I will park your truck in the private parking garage." He said with so much formality Ash, a guy who thought a polo and khakis qualified as dress clothes, was afraid he'd break out in hives. Reluctantly he handed the keys to the gentleman, who then went to the truck and drove it away, presumably to some alley entrance. Letting someone else drive his truck almost brought him physical pain.

Ascending the stairs, the door was opened by a well dressed doorman in a red jacket, bowing as the two men walked past his post.

Inside was even more lavish than the outside. A massive courtyard was filled with all forms of plants and fountains, as well as statues Ash was sure cost more than his yearly income. A grand staircase led up to the floor above. The check in counter was clearly visible on a raised platform in the center.

Making his was to it, Ash claimed yet more stairs to reach the desk. The cool marble felt good on his bare feet, and he couldn't help but feel everyone was staring at him. He was half afraid someone would offer to buy him lunch because heaven knows he looked homeless. Luckily the woman at the desk, sporting an expensive suit and hair in a bun, didn't even bat an eyelash.

"Welcome esteemed guests, how can I be of service to you?" She asked with a bow, that only made Ash feel even more awkward than he already did.

"Um.... Mabel... she said to come here?" Ash said, sounding more like a question than a statement.

"Ah yes I suspected as much. Forgive me for intruding, I should have known better." She said bowing again. Before Ash could say she really didn't have to apologize, she had lifted a leaf in the desk and made her way to their side.

"Follow me sirs. I will show you your rooms." She said, offering yet ANOTHER bow before walking towards the elevators on the far wall, forcing them to follow.

Entering the elevator Ash was surprised at how roomy it was. The elevator easily fit all three and was a good 15' high. As the elevator moved up Ash pressed himself hard into Eric, the glass elevator was scaring him and making it hard for him to breathe. He didn't have acrophobia or anything but wished the floor had not been made glass too. The thought of free falling was repeating in his head on a loop the whole way up.

fear

The elevator dinged and showed them to be on the 50th floor. The courtyard seemed so afar below, the second the door opened Ash hurried into the hall. The hallway was well lit by gold colored fixtures and had marble collumns every dozen feet or so along its length. It was very wide, easily 30 feet and the ceiling was a breezy 30 feet high too. It was as if this section had been built for giants.

"This is the demon level." Their guide said "My name is Erica and I am a vampire class demon. The hotel is owned by several wealthy demons, mostly vampires, and a custom for demons in business is to leave some rooms reserved for demon use. They are free to use and serve as a benefit to the demon community."

Leading them down the hallway they reached the end of the hall, where they found a door on either side.

"Your room is on the right. The door has a password we change with every guest. Yours is 4799. If you have any problems please page us at the service desk. We look forward to helping you with your transformation, and hope to make it as pleasant as possible." With another bow she left the two men alone in the corridor.

Confusion, excitement, nervousness

Ash slowly entered the pin into a pad on the door, which pinged softly and made a sound as the deadbolt undid itself. Opening the door carefully Ash stepped into the room. Dumbstruck he stared at the lavish room before him. It was massive, and even had a fireplace.

He couldn't believe his eyes at how perfect everything was. It was like something from a magazine.

"Eric... If I break out in hives its because I don't even know how to handle anything this luxurious."

Overcome with weakness suddenly Ash clunked into a chair by the fireplace. The energy spent getting here taking its toll. He hoped Eric had been good on his word, and thought to grab the second burger from the truck because he was famished right now.

Weak, tired, uncomfortable, hungry.

"Like what something over here sir."

"I'm good man" Ash said, blushing very red.

'I hope that was a joke about reading minds because I'm not sure he wants to know everything that goes on in my head.' The thought sent shivers down his spine. He had some demons that he did not want known by anyone, because he was far from perfect and didn't want anyone to see his dark side.

Before he could reply to Eric finally Ash was able to pull up to the window, and was greeted by a 16 year old guy wearing a headset and a polo in the worst shade of orange. Looking over his thick spectacles he raised an eyebrow at the odd men buying burgers, but politely didn't question.

"Your total is $8.36" He said

Pulling the money out of his visor Ash handed the guy $9.00 all in ones. The money had been put there to be given to the beggars on the street corners. Ash couldn't stand to see them and not help so he'd put ones up there and would hand $1 to anyone that needed it. It wasn't much but he was to poor to afford any more.

Guilt for spending donation money

"Thanks" the teen replied, grabbing the change and two greasy bags and handing them to Ash.

"Thank you very much" he said with an awkward attempt at a smile. Handing both bags to Eric he said "They're both for you. I'm not very hungry" Ash lied

In truth he was hungry, but for some reason he could tell Eric was more so. He was smaller than Eric and easily a third the weight, judging by the way the truck was sitting, so he couldn't justify it to himself.

Setting the GPS on the dash Ash took off down the road, following its directions up and down the awkward streets of the city. When it chimed "You have arrived at your destination" Ash looked up in awe

The address was a massive hotel, a literal skyscraper in the heart of down town. The glass and steel behemoth was easily 60 stories and seemed to exude money. The small gardens in front of the tower had a beautiful marble fountain and a marble overhang showed where guests were supposed to pull up.

"Hotel Westcott" was emblazoned in gold above the doors.

"Toto I don't think we're in Kansas anymore" Ash said in awe as he pulled up slowly. Feeling conspicuously out of place.

Awe, some fear, hunger and nervousness
Sure I've got time too. We can make some good progress
Sorry if I wasn't clear on that. Since he is a guardian he has a lot more control of his powers naturally.

Risking taking his eyes off the road Ash looked at Eric, his face expressing his confusion plainly.

'How did he know I thought that? Did I say it out loud? I guess I did. Well that's embarrassing'

His mind snapping back to the task at hand, namely driving through city traffic, he sat quietly for a moment. A gurgling stomach from beside him made Ash chuckle, poor Eric must be hungry. Ash's parental personality kicked in, he had the bad habit of caring to much about people and right now that was on clear display.

Eyeing the roads edge he spotted a drive through burger joint, and pulled in gently, though their heads still managed to hit the ceiling of the truck.

'I seriously need to get a full sized truck'

Hand cranking his window, while swearing as the movement brought his arm sharp pain, he addressed the speaker box outside.

"Two double cheeseburgers please." He said

"Anything else for you?" The box squawked back with a male voice

"No thank you" He replied, southern accent kicking in. He knew how much money he had in the truck, and it was just enough to cover the food.

As he waited for his turn in the line Ash put the truck in park. As he reached into the visor to get down his money he saw his back seat in the vanity mirror and gasped. He had two old jackets back there, the ones he kept on hand in case he got cold. Forgetting the money for a moment he reached back and grabbed them both.

One of them was an over glorified sweater, stained from being worn while fixing the truck for years it smelled terrible. But, it was oversized and baggy, just the right size to fit Ash's current size. The second was a huge XL hoodie, with the Quebec flag on it. Below the flag said "Je suis Canadien Francais". It was his favorite piece of clothing and was one of the only things he had left from Quebec (he'd gotten it on a return trip to visit). But it was the only thing that would fit Eric so with some reluctance he offered it to Eric, after returning to a proper seated position.

"Here. You might not want the cashier to see your body" He blushed as he again took in Eric's beautiful body. The hoodie would be a tight fit, and definitely short but it was better than nothing.

He struggled into his own jacket and after fighting the zipper managed to get it to close, though it was now so tight you could still see his chest in full definition.

"Oh and the GPS is in the glove compartment if you could put in the address." Ash said as he pulled forward to be the second car in line.
