As Tess came home late that night, just before she shut the door, she noticed the moon was coloured purple. She didn't think too much of it, could be the alcohol, or maybe that pill she got from that dude at the bar. She sneaked her way upstairs, hoping her parents wouldn't notice she was out this late. She undressed, and got into bed for a good nights sleep. She didn't even bother to set the alarm, she wouldn't go to school tomorrow, anyway.
When she woke up, she directly picked up her phone to check the time. 11:34. "That's weird" she muttered, as she slowly stood up and streched. She had some missed calls and tons of unread messages, but that was quite normal. She didn't pay attention to it, she just wanted to wake up in peace. Usually her parents would wake her up to go to school. Maybe they knew she didn't go and gave up hope. When she found herself alone as she came downstairs, she wasn't surprised. Her parents were at work and Danny, her brother, did go to college every day. She made herself a sandwich and turned on the TV. That's when she noticed something was wrong. There was nothing on.
She picked up her phone again. She had a message telling her to go check up on her parents. What the hell was going on? There were a few people freaking out, seemingly their parents had passed away and they moved to the other side of the country to go live with other family. Probably a major outbreak of some sort of disease? Her parents were fine, she knew it. She picked up her car keys from the cabinet and walked over to her car. It was quiet outside. Too quiet. She drove to the college where her brother went, to see if he knew more about this weird shit that was going on.
On her way there, things became weirder and weirder. Children were crying and there wasn't anyone to be found that seemed to take care of them. Suddenly, the sound of a horn caught her attention. She slowed down to see two guys at a car. They seemed just as confused as she was. Maybe she should ask them about this odd situation? She stopped the car, rolled down her window and hoped to hear some of the conversation. She couldn't just walk up to some strange guys, maybe they didn't know anything. Maybe this was all in her head. Maybe it was the drugs from yesterday, as she did see a purple moon when she got home. The plan was to just lay low for the time being, trying to figure this all out.
