In Mahz's Dev Journal 7 yrs ago Forum: News
Speaking as a 'run-o-the-mill' member of the Guild who is obviously not "in" on whatever shenanigans Mahz and the moderating team have been dealing with over this summer (or this huge debate that has apparently been taking place); I've seen nothing so broken that it requires fixing by creating a whole new layer of RPGuild Staff. The site works very well as far as its intended purpose is concerned. If there have ever been problems in my experience, it has never been with staff - who have been altogether courteous and forthcoming whenever I have had need to contact them. I've certainly never been banned, and no one I know has been banned whether on the new guild or the old - which to me only says that there clearly isn't a group of madmods banning people at random.

I doubt most members I am in consistent contact with on the site are even aware of this "issue" or are all that bothered about it. If this goes ahead and some kind of vote or whatnot is implemented, I would obviously try to be a voting member just out of principle - but not out of any conviction that whatever this is is worth the fuss. Would probably not bother after a while. That's my fifty pence.

I feel liberated having participated in this debate of great importance. That's the only bit of civic participation yer gettin from me >.>

You dream about us and our shenanigans in the OCC?

I think I should, I need a hand dealing with all this.

@Kho You sure it wasn't a foot?

No, the dream was very specific - it wasn't some kind of limbo. A hand and a line. And you were all very excited. There were a handful of signs. What they all point towards, however, I've no idea. I thought maybe Raka was attempting to help me grasp something vital about the Divinuverse - but if this symbol means nothing to any of you, perhaps telling you about it was a mistake. Gods, have I irreversibly altered the timeline? Are we doomed?
I had this really strange dream where we were all hyped about something and repeatedly posting the below image, or something close to it. Admittedly it was all in black, but just a symbol like that of a hand and this line. Posting things like "Guys, remember today is only [_symbol_]"

*Looks at our Australian overlords*

So...there's an elephant in the room. And I feel it my obligation to call it to the attention of all present here today. I know, I know, we're playing into her hands by even bringing this up, but Paula Hanson is at it again. I really should follow the proceedings of the Australian senate more regularly, this is top notch entertainment. Less subtle than Parliament, true, but quality none the less xD
@Frettzo Works perfectly for me too. Best of luck with your interview!

Not entirely sure if I'd be right, but as it's work related it's better to be safe than sorry. I'd say that rather than 'You can find me in any of these social platforms' at the bottom, it would be more correct to write 'You can find me on any of these social platforms'.

I think. If anyone knows better, feel free to correct my incorrection xD
@Kho In my defence, I did put it in a hider.

The defence has spoken. Does the prosecution have a response? Is putting potentially life endangering spoilers in a hider a sufficiently precautionary measure to warrant acquitting the defendant?
If you are not up to date with the most recent post, I must warn you. The 0th post has SPOILERS. Terrible, heart-rending spoilers.

From another book I came across, with a more philosophical approach, since we're discussing rules and Loki asked about characters.

'The novel is the great virtuoso of exceptionalism: it always wriggles out of the rules thrown around it. And the novelistic character is the very Houdini of that exceptionalism. There is no such thing as "a novelistic character." There are just thousands of different kinds of people, some round, some flat, some deep, some caricatures, some realistically evoked, some brushed in with the lightest of strokes. Some of them are solid enough that we can speculate about their motives ... But there are scores of fictional characters who are not fully or conventionally evoked who are also alive and vivid. The solid, nineteenth-century fictional character ... who confronts us with deep mysteries is not the "best" or ideal or only way to create character (though it does not deserve the enormous condescension of postmodernism). My own taste tends toward the sketchier fictional personage, whose lacunae and omissions tease us, provoke us to wade in their deep shallows ... We have only their unreliable narration of events.'

@LokiLeo789 Yes, there is a considerably sized chapter on characters. Will share once I've had time to read it and write up a summary.
