Hm, I've gotten a little further in surprisingly little time on Aaron's possible motivation. He's a closeted homosexual man with a hebrew first name in Nazi Germany, one would think he has enough suspicion and pressure on him as it is. I'd say he fears that defecting would be the final nail in his coffin and that they'd send him to a concentration camp? Regardless of whether or not his fears would be fixed in truth, I'd say that's enough to make a man want to save his own skin. Thoughts, anyone?

Ironic because @Adriane and I were just discussing what to do with Mat, and one plot idea was to have him arrested and killed because he's homosexual (which would give Klaus and potentially Aaron a personal reason to fight against the Third Reich).

I like the idea, with one suggested modification: Aaron is gay, and a high-ranking SS official knows that he is gay, and the only thing between him and a concentration camp is his agreeing to keep doing the medical research that other doctors can't do, given their lack of experience with the magical power source.
Józef is pretty awesome.

Also, the attention to historical detail in everyone's posts so far is just fantastic and keeping me on my toes (read: my family is bewildered and a little worried by my sudden interest in Nazi death camps), so well done all.

@Keyguyperson: do you think Klaus should notice Józef at the diner or nah?
Things are fine, the shock came in the form of a weeks-old notification. I'm like the Doctor from Voyager in my old group of friends, nobody ever tells me about important things until at least a week after the fact. Someone could be killed by aliens and I wouldn't know it for months.

I find that unless I'm relentlessly stalking social media, my old friends could start having babies and I wouldn't have a clue.

Sounds like what I had in mind. I've got a lot of self-loathing and regret planned for poor Dr. Bachmeier.

I am also that person! I have no idea how people manage to know things when they happen. I've never gotten the hang of it.

Ahh, fantastic.

Where is he the night of the raid, and what does he make of the missing lab equipment afterwards?
Should Klaus approach him about defecting, how would he initially react/how bad would things have to get for him to change his mind?

I can imagine many heated discussions during secretive meetings in cafes while Klaus tries to get Aaron to go into hiding with him and Aaron struggles with his sense of duty and loyalty to his friend.

also, there's a possibility for an uneasy alliance with the TAP here. Key?
We're going to hit the ground running, actually, meaning that our characters won't be living their cushy lives at the university very long.

After Klaus and Ros meet at the diner, an SS officer is going to come visit the Zauber team and question them on military applications of their research. Klaus is going to be pretty uncooperative. The raid will be very soon after that, as in the next day or next couple of days.

Klaus and Ros, at least, are going to defect and go into hiding.

It would actually be pretty interesting if Aaron was unsure about defecting initially and remained working for the Nazis at Humboldt.

Mine is coming out tonight, I was going to post it yesterday but I had a bit of a shock halfway through writing it.

Oh dear. Is all good?
In the mean time, I'm always down to hash out plot details in the OOC.

Thoughts on Aaron's next moves?

The raid on the lab is going to happen pretty soon, and that's when our characters will have to actually pick a side instead of uneasily straddling the fence.
Busy weekend, everyone?

I've got my next more or less written, but want to give Key a chance to get an initial post up.

After that posting order will be pretty irrelevant and will depend only on the narrative. Beauty of small groups right?

I'm planning to get a PhD in Being A Worthless Leech That Eats Ramen And Writes Bad Sci-Fi Loosely Based Off Of World War 2.

That is to say, English and History.

dude that's the life I wish I had

favorite historical period?
<Snipped quote by Adriane>

If you could get college credits for putting historical events into a sci-fi/fantasy setting, I would already have a Bachelor's.

What is everyone studying? I'm curious.

I'm going for a bachelors in economics, foreign policy, and potentially minor in CS.
