It was the most precious sight she'd ever witnessed in her life. The twinkling counters, shiny linoleum, and spotless sink. Though she observed from a foot away in the living room, she had already gotten the aura of difference as soon as she had set foot at the last step of the stairs. Odd sign number one: clean couch. A white haired man stood at the counter facing away from her. She already knew it was Songbird. He appeared to be making some breakfast as she burned holes into his back; quizzically examining him. It couldn't have been him. No offense to the item hunter, but Song, easily assumed from his clothing style, is somewhat unruly and disfunctional. An image of him wearing a housemaid outfit while brooming the kitchen floor flashed into her mind and it just didn't look right.
"Oh, Jasper, good morning. Are you alright?" The voice came from behind her and she shuffled sideways to avoid blocking the kitchen entrance as Harper walked in whilst saying his greeting.
A worried pressure weighed down on her heart as she heard the slight depression and unusual loss of cheerfulness in his voice. Sliding her arms around his neck, without hesitation, she rested her chin upon the crook of his collar. Hugging him comfortingly, this type of interaction, she was quite good at. "Yes I am. I don't know if you are," she whispered almost inaudibly with a tiresome sigh. The embrace lasted for a good thirty seconds before she finally pulled away, ruffled his messy morning hair, and took a seat at the dining table to have breakfast. Song had put out a couple plates of food and Jasper couldn't help, but to stuff herself. Though the dishes were mainly leftovers, he had recooked them and transformed them into entirely new edible matter.
"We'll be meeting Cello's group today, so bring whatever you think you'll need. We start our investigation later."
Finishing up her breakfast, which contained a series of polite smiling and nodding as she made small talk with the Nobodies and other humans, Jasper followed Serenades orders and headed upstairs to gather her things. After tidying her bed and making sure everything she needed was in her teddy backpack, she stumbled down the staircase after clumsily tripping on the third to last step, but joined the group safely out of the cabin as they travelled to the said meeting place.
The walk was rather short and pleasant, a time where she could circulate some fresh air into her system. Though the town still looked awfully creepy, the renewed feels of the morning somewhat masked its eerieness. Gathering in an open field, they waited for Cello and his newcomers for a short period of time until the twin bunnies began waving happily at the sight of a tinier group that was peeking out in the distance. Jasper gulped. She had been in the group since the very beginning and typically, new humans didn't last very long until they died off during unfortunate events. The possibility of adding more names into the fatality list made her sick to the stomach.
