I have included basic information about each of the planets. Once you have chosen your planet, I will give you some "twists" you have to work with. When you start, you need to make it clear whether the planet will be able sustain life or not. This way we can start narrowing down to the one planet the human race will be living on. I also expect you to do more research on your own planet to help yourself along with the role-play.
Mercury
1. Every 2 orbits around the sun, takes 88 earth days
2. Closest to the sun
3. Smallest planet - 3030 miles around (size of the US)
4. No known natural satellites
5. Length of a “day” -
6. Temp during the day - 840 degrees
7. Temp during the night - -275 degrees
8. Core has iron - 75% of the planet
Venus
1. Orbits 224.7 in earth days (longer than 1 year)
2. No natural satellite
3. “Sister” planet - similar in size
4. Rotates clockwise (unlike earth that rotates counter-clockwise)
5. Hottest planet - 863 degrees - temp doesn’t change
6. Slow rotation
7. Atmospheric pressure is 92x stronger than earth (its like being 621.37 miles under the earths ocean!)
8. Clouds are mostly made of poisonous sulfuric acid
9. Winds get up too 450mph
Mars
1. Tallest mountain
2. Dust storms can last for months can cover the planet - 125mph (happens when Mars get close to the sun)
3. Possible water on the planet
4. Literally, the metallic rocks on Mars are rusting, giving it the red color
5. Atmosphere is mostly made up of carbon dioxide
6. 687 days to orbit
7. During winter, 20% of the air freezes
8. 37.5% gravity - 100lbs person would weigh 38lbs and jump 3x higher.
Jupiter
1. Largest planet
2. 67 moons
3. 9hr 55min is one day
4. 11.86 years to orbit
5. Clouds is made of ammonia crystals and sulfur
6. Does not experience seasons
7. Rich in hydrogen and helium - surface isn’t solid
Saturn
1. 10hr 34min in a day
2. 29.4 years to orbit
3. Mostly made go hydrogen
4. 62 Moons
5. The moon Enceladus has a ocean under the thin frozen surface
6. -350 degrees
7. 750 earths could fit in Saturn
8. Storms can last a long time - mega lightning 1000x more powerful than the earths
9. The weather is determined by conditions deep in the planet and generates heat internally.
10. Summer can last about 8years
Uranus
1. 17hrs and 14mins is its day
2. 84 years to orbit
3. -425.2 degrees
4. 42 years for one season - only two seasons winter and summer
5. 27 moons
6. axis is tilted sideways - “North and south” poles are east and west
7. 560mph wind speed
Neptune
1. 164.8yrs to orbit
2. 18 for a day
3. Atmosphere is made up of hydrogen and helium with some methane
4. 14 moons
5. Extremely active climates
6. -353 degrees
Pluto
1. Dwarf planet
2. 246.04 years to orbit
3. 50-70% rock and 30-50% ice by mass
4. Frozen nitrogen surface
5. When Pluto gets close to the sun, the surface ice thaws, creating a thin atmosphere of nitrogen, methane, and carbon monoxide. When it travels away, the surface will freeze once again.
6. 5 moons
7. 6.4 earth days to make one day
