My sister saw me watching the Co-Optional Podcast and thought I was skyping my friends. How ridiculous! I don't have friends.

So, a little confused (what's new?):

Is this a sandbox, or is there a storyline to subscribe to?

A little bit of both, as Flagg said. The game is sandbox, but there will be plot threads that folks can jump into, and some which effect pretty much everyone
<Snipped quote by Kingfisher>

didnt think about that. Is it established somewhere that the MRB is distinct from the FBI? Otherwise, I'll just have him be part of the FBI, Magical Regulation Division.

That work?

The MRB is distinct from the FBI, but if Whyte's investigating non-magic realted crimes he can just be regular FBI. If its of a magical nature then he'd need to be MRB.

Gonna submit a CS later tonight for your approval hopefully. Really awesome stuff.

I look forwards to seeing it!

Posted her. Bon appétit.

The fiery dragon lady is accepted.

So in the 1950's, LA was trying to keep Italian gangsters out. Is there a similar situation where the SSPD is being particularly aggressive toward specific groups of criminals?

The Italians are already pretty deeply routed in the city, so the SSPD aren't any more aggresive to them than they are other gangs. They're least aggresive to the Nyctari, mostly due to the connections that the vampire famalies have.
@Flagg Fuck yes. Is Whyte FBI or Magical Regulations Bureau?
@Kingfisher Memory loss I guess? He only began to know Andy when Andy was already a zombie.

I guess Kiddo's reanimation made him lose his memories, and his penchant for killing and stuff was like muscle memory compared to friends and stuff.

That seems a wee bit contrived to me, but you're welcome to jump back in as the Lost Boys if you want to.

Nobody stone me when you see my CS.

It's not a sin if you have permission.

Oh hey dere Kanye
@Kingfisher Kiddo was still alive in the 50s. Not undead. Like, actually alive.

He didn't die until nearer present day, and was reanimated shortly before the events of the first roleplay.

I guess I didn't make that clear enough. My bad.

I get that Kiddo wasn't undead, what I'm asking is if he already knew Andy as a zombie, why didn't he recognise him at the power plant? The whole "my friends dead" thing gives the impression that he didnt know Andy had come back to life
@Kingfisher Well this would be when the Lost Boys first became the Lost Boys.

So it would be a very, very undead Andy who's a leftover from the 20s coming to terms with having to work with the 30-year Martovanni family veteran Kiddo. The start of a very strenuous friendship. And the beginnings of all their stupid nicknames for each other.

I thought when they met in the Power Plant that was the first time they'd seen each other as undead? Kiddo didn't recognise Andy at that point, after all.

"That's what everyone calls me, bub. Now step forward, put yer guns on the ground, nice 'n slow."

I complied, nice and slow, unslinging my Tommy gun and shotgun and placing them on the floor. Behind me, I heard Hurk doing the same. When all of our guns were down, Kiddo stepped forward and kicked them away, far out of our reach. Since he was this close...

"Kiddo, what're you doin', pal?"

He looked up at me and scowled.

"None a' your fuckin' business, wise guy, now get on the floor, hands behind ya head."

I did as he said, slowly of course, and behind me Hurk complied.

This was Kiddo. I knew it. That face...through the age, I knew it was him. The voice was the same too.

What the hell was he doing here?

And more importantly, why in the hell was he a zombie like me?!

No way a man like him would've gotten himself turned. No fuckin' way.

"Kiddo, pal, please, what're you doin'? This ain't you, Kiddo."

"Andy, you know this guy?"

I sighed as Kiddo patted me down and removed the switchblade I had hidden in the back of my pants.

"Yeah. Me 'n him, we ran together a long time ago, in the fifties 'n sixties. My best friend, who is now havin' me face first on the floor."

"Shut ya trap, wise guy. The only best friend I had is dead. I don't know you."

@HeySeuss Throw magic into the mix, and things become even more muddled.

The clash in ideologies which is already emerging (just compare Nyx and Rusty) should make for a really interesting dynamic.
@Kingfisher Both of them were around during that period. Andy would've been turned already, and Kiddo would've been with the Martovanni family for roughly thirty years? This probably would've been around the time Andy, now a zombie, signed up with the Martovannis.

Ah, okay. Well, its up to you really. I'm playing young Nyx, so you're welcome to play young(ish) Kiddo. Although the Lost Boys aren't reuinted until Welcome To Santa Somabra, so it might be difficult to play both of them
Got Rusty McKenzie up.

And so it begins...
Nyxvira Bloodbloom

Name/Nicknames:

Nyxvira Bloodbloom (Nyxie)

Race:

Faerie

Age:

54

Appearance:

Nyxie is a big girl, with a large frame and a form that’s soft to the touch. Her face is round, with chubby cheeks and the beginnings of a double-chin.Her red hair glimmers with a fiery hue, like crackling flames, and she has a notably pale skin pigment.

Nyxvira has the tell-tale eyes of a faerie, with huge golden irises, that shimmer in a manner that hints at her magical heritage.

Personality:

Nyxvira takes an abnormal approach to life, being somewhat of an emotionally repressed individual. Her dry wit and sadistic sense of humour often create social boundaries, and she has very few strong emotional relationships to speak of. She possesses a hyper and overactive mental state, but cares little for matters which don’t interest her, and is poor at pretending otherwise.

She struggled with her self-image growing up, but the narcissistic, self-worshiping figure she has become bares little to no resemblance to the once immensely self-conscious little girl she was before. Her steely confidence and fiery charisma give the young Faerie an element of charm, which (when coupled with her quick wit) draws others to her. Her appetites for binge eating and sexual encounters are both self-destructive, but these are crippling grey areas to her, above and beyond her wiser judgment and the scrutiny she holds the rest of her actions up to.

Her rapid and uncontrolled mood swings hint at an element of instability, which are accompanied by long bouts of depressive emptiness. To keep herself from becoming too down, Nyxvira makes sure the she is constantly occupied, and (when all else fails her) she always has food to turn to.

The Faerie’s fluctuating temper is legendary, and perhaps the most obvious display of her furious mood swings. Small changes to her day, or countless other minor inconveniences, can send Nyxvira into a chronic black mood, making her lash out at those around her.

Bio:

Growing up in Surrey, England, Nyxvira’s childhood was one of seclusion; nestled away within confines of her Ancestral Grove. As the most magically gifted of all her siblings, Nyxvira was set to become Matriarch of House Bloodbloom, should she play her cards right.

When the time came to integrate into human society, Nyxie took a bit too much of a fondness to mankind, becoming enthralled with their customs and cultures, to the point where she began to repulse her fellow Faeries.

When word got out that Nyxie had been performing twisted alchemical experiments on the children at her school, the House of Bloodbloom was all the more happy to be rid of her; banishing her and revoking her claim. Political tensions between humans and the Fae were at an all time high, so Nyxie managed to avoid being hung due to a “lack of sufficient evidence”.

In the days gone by Nyxvira has spent some time trekking from place to place, until she eventually made her way to Santa Somabra. Who knows what the young Faerie might get up to in this city of sin?

Other: Faeries are universally feared and mistrusted for their wicked ways, but also held up as diety-like beings by some, more superstitious cultures, which is something Nyxvira uses to her utmost advantage.
