I have been role playing online since about 2010, at the table (aka D&D) since about a long time ago, and in the bedroom since a bit longer ago than before that. (Sorry, couldn't resist that one)
I recently (March 2017) had my laptop crap out on me, so currently I am on phone only. It has put a crimp in my style: I like long, descriptive posts, but doing so with two thumbs rather than ten total digits is difficult, thus I cut back on some RPs and shortened the posts in others. Bummer.
I am very interested in two new ideas, both very simplified table top concepts:
The first is a survival RP-game inspired by the movie, "I Am Legend". I have already begun the OOC for this.
The second is the reason I originally came to RPG, a post-alien invasion survival RP-game that inspired my avatar and descriptor. I have not yet begun the OOC for this.
I post almost every day, typically more than once. (My current average is 4 posts a day across 2 continuing role plays, and that doesn't even count the PM RPs to which I post even more often.)
I am anal about spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Mistakes are to be expected, but so is proof reading if you are going to write with me. You shouldn't have to be a cryptographer to decode, interpret, and understand poorly written posts from me, thus I shouldn't have to be for you either. Common courtesy.
I will write erotica at all levels if that is something in which you are interested, but -- if our characters are or will become sexually involved -- I am also perfectly fine with fading-to-black the graphic scenes.
My hitman is in town to wipe out the leadership of an Organized Crime Syndicate. He needs to blend into the community and get close to the Family, and what better way is there to do this than become romantically involved with a young woman who is a member of the Family?
What will happen to their relationship as, first, her Family members begin to get knocked off; and, second, the two of them begin to feel more for one another as a result of their time together?
Looking for almost daily posts, preferably more than one per day; short to medium length; with spelling, grammar, and punctuation checks. (Mistakes are expected, but so if proofreading.)
5'8", 165#. Slight of frame; thin and fragile (from a decades long illness).
Graying dark hair; full beard.
Psychological Description:
Goes by the name Shaw, though most of the Citizens of New Hope call him Elder Shaw out of respect.
Lifelong pacifist.
Determined and dedicated; confident, sometimes overly so.
A caring, empathetic person.
Has been celibate for decades, not that he wouldn't take a lover if the right one came along.
Background:
1957: Born.
Was a dedicated, socialist pacifist all his life.
Spent most of his teens and adult years on a succession of communes dedicated to simple and peaceful living.
Although he empathized with the protesters of many movements, he never participated in such civil disobedience.
2022:
Shaw was an Elder on a commune near Sweet Home, Oregon, when the virus struck in mid-November.
Of the nearly 200 people living there, only 6 original residents remained alive by year's end.
The City of Sweet Home suffered a fate similar to that of the nearby commune, with the population of nearly 10,000 shrinking to just over 100.
However, the commune's promise of peace, goodwill, and harmony toward all drew plague survivors to it from both Sweet Home and other communities. The population there fluctuated between 20-60 over the weeks to come.
2023:
By late-February, despite there being hundreds if not thousands of unoccupied homes, businesses, and other structures in and around Sweet Home that could be pillaged and looted likely without resistance, raiders had attacked the occupied commune three times.
Shaw -- now the commune's Patriarch -- began speaking of a new way of life, a simple existence without the trappings of technology ... and without the violence.
In the dark of night, Shaw lead 50 people away from Sweet Home, east into the Cascade Mountains, then south toward the Sisters Wilderness area. He had often vacationed in a small alpine valley that he hoped would be perfect for the establishment of a new community ... a place that would come to be called New Hope.
5'10", 225#; fit and strong with a layer of winter fat.
Graying dark hair; beard.
Various tattoos, as of yet unexplained.
Psychological Description:
After a lifetime of hating his given name, he has gone exclusively by his surname throughout his adult years.
He is strong willed, determined, and confident.
He can become very violent very quickly if the need arises, and he seldom shows mercy to those who cross him.
He demands total loyalty from those serving him, and he shows total loyal to those who serve him well.
He doesn't say much, but when he does, people who know him well listen.
He is a bit of a misogynist in that he believes a woman's duty is to be laboring in the fields, in the kitchen, or in the bed.
Background:
1970: Born.
His father was a career soldier. Briggs grew up on a succession of military bases across the world.
His father was a strict and conservative husband; his mother was an obedient wife who did what she was told, when she was told, how she was told lest she be punished. Briggs grew up believing that this was the way men and women interacted as couples, whether married or not.
1988: Briggs entered the US Army the day he turned 18 (1 May 1970).
He had a troubled military career:
Although a great soldier, Briggs had problems with authority.
Unable to deal with taking orders from Officers who were younger and less experienced than he, Briggs was busted four times for insubordination over his 32 year career.
Often he was restored to his previous rank due to superior performance or heroic acts; while other times he simply had to work his way back up like any other hard working soldier.
2018: As a Sergeant First Class (again!), Briggs became Chief Training Officer at a Special Forces Training School based in Washington State.
2022:
Briggs's unit had been in Bend, Oregon, since May when the virus struck the state in mid-November. The Unit had been assigned to a National Guard Armory, instructing Guardsmen on winter warfare in preparation for deployment later that year to The Ukraine, where NATO was in a hot and active shooting war with Russian-backed separatists.
By Christmas, the plague has swept through the population of Bend, of most of the United States, and of much of the world. Bend's population was dropping rapidly, via death and flight; and funeral pyres burned in nearly every neighborhood day and night. Armed groups -- some giving themselves militia names -- were taking over and securing portions of the city: they scavenged and looted now abandoned homes and businesses; they secured bridges and highway bottlenecks to tax travelers of their possessions; and when necessary -- and sometimes even when not -- they killed, with their victims often being men, women, and children who had once been their own neighbors.
2023:
By January, with both the Major and Master Sergeant of the Special Forces Unit now dead, Briggs was the most senior member left in the unit.
His unit was put under the direct command of the National Guard Unit's Captain, a true weekend warrior with no combat experience. Briggs knew immediately that this new assignment was not going to last.
By Valentines day, the population of Bend had dropped -- via disease, other deaths, and flight -- from over 90,000 to less than 2,000.
The various gangs and militias across Bend were in almost daily street battles with one another. The Captain was determined to bring calm to the city using his dwindling Guard Unit, but all he was doing was unnecessarily getting men hurt or killed.
By late March, the Guard Unit was down to just 18 men: 8 Special Forces (including Briggs), 6 original Guardsmen, and 4 new Guard recruits.
On 1 April 2023, Briggs new it was time for a change.
If you are interested in joining, Please PM me rather than posting a reply here. A flurry of "I'm interested" replies will make organizing the OOC more difficult.
A devastating plague is sweeping across the planet.
99% of mammalian life -- humans and otherwise -- will ultimately perish.
Where and how possible, humanity will rebuild.
In an isolated Wilderness Area in the Western United States, a group of survivors establishes a community that will come to be called New Hope.
Established as a place of peace and harmony, weapons are forbidden.
The philosophy of New Hope is that with the dramatic reduction in human population, New Hope will survive and thrive without the need for people to compete for what had once been but was not now limited space and resources. The thinking now is that there is no longer a need to harm -- let alone kill -- another person for one's needs.
Will this philosophy hold up, though -- will it seem naïve -- when militias and looting parties crop up in towns and cities all about New Hope, with some of them ultimately learning of the vulnerable community living undefended in the nearby mountains?
A little about myself and the writers for whom I seek:
I am looking for writing partners who are similar to me in writing habits (though being as anal and OCD is not a requirement).
I will reply for each of my active characters nearly every day.
I am not concerned about reply length: size doesn't matter, as the saying goes, just so long as replies move the story forward.
I perform spelling, grammar, and punctuation checks before I post. Mistakes are expected, but so is proofreading.
I despise "god moding" and "power plays".
Concerning sex scenes:
The Site's rules and limits on erotica must be obeyed.
Sexual interactions between adult characters can only be expected, therefore it will be part of our story.
However, this is not a sexual role play, therefore, graphic erotica is not to be written in the Main Thread.
When my (and your) characters do become involved in sexual situations:
I (and you) may "fade to black" those sex scenes, leaving the erotic details to the imagination of the reader.
Or write them as PG-13 or NC-17 in a separate thread which can be linked to this thread at the appropriate place in the time line.
I do not write graphic X-rated sex scenes, even in PM.
About my characters:
I will begin with 5 Primary Characters:
The Patriarch: he leads New Hope, which is located deep inside the Sisters Wilderness Area to the west of Bend, Oregon.
The Major: in Bend, he commands a ragtag group of mostly former military who will ultimately become the Militia that interacts with the Citizens of New Hope.
The Mountain Man: unsure of whether he is immune to the virus (as the other characters already know they are), he lives in a cabin in the woods where he survives by hunting, fishing, foraging, scavenging, and -- when necessary -- stealing.
The Arbitrator: as the community's judge in disputes between its Citizens, he is both an honored and respected Citizen of New Hope and a man with secrets he would prefer were not exposed.
And the Ill Fitting Piece: after falling in with the pacifist community through happenstance and making the trek to New Hope, he simply doesn't fit in with the community's pacifist nature.
These characters are being created to get the story established.
I will also write additional secondary characters as needed by my fellow writers to interact with their own characters.
While having a relatively large number of characters, though, I don't want to be the only writer telling a story here.
I am hoping that you all will role play with one another, too, rather than just with me.
Pace of the Role Play and Time Jumps:
A disagreement on pace is often a primary road block to getting writers to join a Group Role Play.
In an attempt to alleviate this road block, I am going to set the pace even before we start.
Our story begins in 2023, May to be more precise. (I selected 2023 because the days and dates of that year match those of 2017).
Initially, we will work as methodically as we can to reach a point where the role play calendar (of 2023) matches the day and date of the real world calendar (of 2017).
Then, once there, we will keep pace with the real world calendar.
Near the end of each real month, the role play calendar will reset to very near the end of the real month, but not of 2017 but of 2023. Clear...? :)
You and your writing partner(s) have ~30 real days to write ~30 days worth of role play interaction between your characters.
If, by coincidence, you write those 30 days in 30 days, wonderful!
If you are running out of time, you'll need to hurry up and finish your scene.
If you burn through the role play month in just a couple of real world weeks:
You can either let your characters go dormant until the time jump;
Or start the next role play month early so long as your rush does not affect the other characters;
Or -- if you are bored -- you can create some additional characters to keep yourself busy.
The time jumps won't be entirely rigid: sometimes we won't jump exactly to the end of a month or only to the end of the next month; and sometimes we will jump earlier in the month and other times later.
But we will jump, with an eye on both keeping the role play and real calendars close to one another and keeping all of the characters on the same pace.
You will just have to find a way to make this work for your character and his/her interactions.
@KingTony Awesome! I'm an avid time travel theory fan myself and would love to roleplay with you! I was just wondering if we can plan everything out on a website called Titanpad for now and then post it all here if that's all right with you?
I prefer to do everything right here. I responded to this right after you posted your inquiry, but for some reason it didn't post. Sorry about the delay to getting back to you.
After a devastating plague wipes out almost all Earth's mammalian life -- people and otherwise -- humanity rebuilds where it can, how it can. In a former Wilderness Area in the Western United States, the small community of Utopia is built on the tenets of peace and shared prosperity.
But the leaders of the community have a secret: beyond the view of their pacifist population they support a militia that protects their people with the very violence they claim to abhor.
Writing partners for whom I seek:
Will post almost every day, once or more per day.
Posts do not need to be long. They can be as little as half the length of this very post, so long as they move the story forward for the other involved characters.
Spelling, grammar, and punctuation checks are required. Mistakes are expected, but so is proofreading.
Obviously, no "god moding" or "power plays". If you think your actions may intrude upon another writer's plan for his/her character, you are required to first clear the act with that writer and then, if appropriate, inform the Host (me) of what's what so that I know all is well. Courtesy, people. Courtesy and cooperation will make this a great story.
Concerning sex scenes:
First and foremost, You MUST obey the Site's rules and limits on erotica.
I don't mind erotica: in fact, I would like to write some myself.
However, graphic erotica is not to be written in the Main Thread.
You may write sex scenes "fade to black" and leave the erotic details to the imagination of the reader.
You may write the sex scene in a separate thread and link it to our Main Thread.
Or you may write it in PM.
I am going to initially write 5 Primary Characters, to get the story established. However, these characters are not necessarily permanent characters. If a dedicated writer wishes to have more control over a specific portion of the story, I may allow my PCs to vanish from the story and be replaced:
Utopia's Patriarch: he leads the community.
The Militia's Commander: he (obviously) commands the Militia.
A raider, with whom the previous two must deal.
A Citizen with an honored place of comfort and respect in Utopia.
And a Citizen who feels he deserves more than he already has.
I will also write additional characters as my fellow writers need to occupy the time of their own characters. However, I don't want to be the only one interacting with the other writers. (I know that often in group role plays, the host is the only writer interacting with the other writers, but I am hoping that ya'll will role play with one another, too. I don't have the time or the interest in being the work horse of the story.)
Timing and Pace:
One of the major road blocks to getting dedicated writers involved in group role plays is the difference in pace between writers: these two writers post three times a day, every day, and want to move the story forward in almost real time, if not faster; while these other two writers only post twice a week and after a real life month of posting are still on the first day of the role play.
To alleviate these road blocks, I would ask that you make inquiries of your potential role play partners about their posting habits before you get involved with them. Find out whether you are compatible before you begin writing with one another.
And I will tell you that we are going to keep pace with a real world calendar by using time jumps. For example:
You and your partner are writing a scene in which your characters meet, interact, become chummy, have sex, begin a project, go on a trek, etc.
Your scene takes a real world month to write but only covers one or two role play days or weeks.
Near the end of the real world month, the role play calendar WILL jump ahead to the beginning of the next month. Oh, it won't always be so rigid. Sometimes it won't jump that far, sometimes it will jump farther; sometimes it will jump on the 25th of the month because all the writers are ready for the jump by then; and other time it won't jump until the 5th because there are a lot of interactions taking place that need a couple of extra days.
But it WILL jump.
And you will just have to find a way to make it happen so that we are all on the same real world time line.
My 21st century character -- a Revolutionary War reenactor -- is transported to Boston in the year 1775 as the Patriots lay siege to the British-controlled city.
He meets your character, with whom he will eventually have a relationship. (Sex, if it occurs, will not be graphic but will be "fade-to-black". If you're that interested in actually writing the scene(s) graphically, we can discuss an exchange in private message; but I am more interested in the larger story of how a 21st century man and an 18th century woman deal with one another, particularly during a time of war.)
The nature of the adventure in which the two find themselves is to be determined by us together, but I'm thinking something similar to the television series "Outlander", where my character must try to blend in while: first, discovering what has happened to him; and second, finding a way to get back to the future (to coin a famous phrase).
I post to all of my active role plays every day, more than once a day if my partners does the same. I check my spelling, grammar, and punctuation before posting. Mistakes are expected, but so is proofreading; and it my request that my writing partner does the same.
I have no minimum length limit on replies. I am perfectly fine with just a couple of lines, so long as you are moving the story forward and posting more often so that the story doesn't take forever to get somewhere.
I was here several years ago -- on the old format and an ID I’ve forgotten -- so it’s good to be back.
I am likely going to limit myself to just 3 or 4 RPs: a small group, post-alien invasion survival Game/RP; a 1x1, multiple character post-apocalyptic RP (with a female writer if possible as there will be PG-13 erotic scenes); a 1x1, multiple character, modern day, war zone RP (with a female writer if possible as there will be PG-13 erotic scenes); and one that I haven’t decided upon but which may possibly be a 1x1 involving an outlaw bike club moving into a small town, a little Sons of Anarchy-ish (with a female writer writer both bikers and citizens).
I write on my phone typically, so my posts will rarely be longer than this introduction. I always proofread for errors, and I expect my partners to do the same. I will post every day without fail, often more than once; and I hope to find partners who do the same.
If you interested in RPing with me, or if you have an RP similar to what I have described, shoot me a PM.
Greetings.
