Leiko Hamada- Archery Range
"Anything else?" Leiko repeated with an arched eyebrow, taking note of the bland tone in Rui's voice. The boy was supposedly expressing an interest in her extracurricular activities, but if he did, he certainly wasn't showing it.
She could only hope that he was capable of more forms of emotion, or his role in the Drama Club would have to be very minor.
"Well..." Leiko cocked her head slightly in thought as she decided to indulge him all the same. "In all honesty...no. All of the clubs I've visited today have failed to hold my interest..." She tapped her palm with the feathery end of the arrow as she spoke. "There's just nothing that compares to the thrill of immersing yourself in the role of someone else, discarding all notions of reality..." Her lips curled into a smirk as she acknowledged the airiness in her manner of speech. "But perhaps that just makes me a little one-dimensional, having such a superficial interest, no?"
She turned, sliding the arrow back into the quiver before glancing over her shoulder back at Rui. "Don't forget to practice your lines for tomorrow, ok?" The tone in her voice implied that Rui had little choice in the matter, her voice dangerously soft as she took her leave from the conversation. It wasn't long before she came to a stop however, as a blur of purple started hurtling in her direction."Saya-?" Her eyes widened, slightly bewildered as the taller girl nearly collided into her. "H-Hey! Careful!" She growled, catching the hysterical's girl's arms quicky to slow her down before Leiko could be knocked back on the floor for the second time that day.
"P-Pen..." The other girl panted, her alabaster skin stained a glowing red as she thrusted some scrunched up papers at Leiko. "I...need..." She wheezed before letting her knees hit the soft ground with a thud. "Oh god..."
"You're making a huge fuss over a pen? Leiko said drolly, looking entirely unamused as she stacked the papers aside for now and gave Saya a firm shake. "Saya. Calm down."
A rattling breath followed from the erratic girl before she nodded glumly, her lips quivering at the effort not to burst into more panicked yells.
Good. We're getting somewhere. Acutely aware that Rui was probably bearing witness to this scene, Leiko tugged her friend along to the side, where the other club members were unlikely to see them. "Right..." Leiko steeled herself with an iron will as she met Saya's eye level evenly. "Take a deep breath...and tell me what's wrong."
Saya obeyed, a loud gasp of air filling her lungs before her words spilled forth.
"IwenttoseeRokoru-senpaiaboutgettingregisteredandhetookoffhisjacketandhisbicepswerelikeamazingandIstartedtothinkaboutwhathecoulddowiththoserippedarmsandthenIfreakedoutandranaway." She finished her sentence with a dry cough, her eyes watering slightly as she rubbed them with her wrist. "Its awful, Hama-chan! He must think I'm a total spaz now!"
"When I said take a deep breath, I didn't mean just one..." Leiko grumbled under her breath, shaking her head slightly in disbelief. She hadn't fully understood Saya's garbled explanation but she had picked up on 'Rokoru-senpai', 'biceps', and 'ran away', and with the pre-existing knowledge of her friend's 'quirks', she could quickly connect the dots as to what had exactly occurred. "He probably does. And I wouldn't disagree with him," Leiko shrugged, causing Saya to go into an even deeper fit of despair. "Honestly, Saya."
"Hama-chaannn! You're supposed to make me feel better!" Saya wailed, cradling her head in her hands as she looked like she wanted the ground to swallow her whole. "What am I supposed to do? I can't sign up for Archery for real now!"
"What?" Leiko's eyes widened, horror painted across her features over what Saya was implying. After being forced to scout for clubs after school against her will, and then forcibly dragged to the Archery Range as her 'moral support', Saya was suggesting that she wasn't going to join after all? The past hour they've spent...wasted?
No. Leiko's eyes glinted darkly as she pulled an expensive looking cartridge pen from the shirt pocket underneath her sweater, thrusting it firmly in Saya's direction. "You were looking for a pen."
Saya flinched as she looked at the presented pen gingerly. "B-But."
"Sign." Leiko's words held no room for debate, no argument, and Saya knew it. Whimpering slightly, she took the pen in her forefinger and thumb before leaning the stack of papers against a stacked pile of boxes, scribbling her signatures monotonously against the dotted lines before finishing with a heavy sigh. "Good." It was Leiko's turn to breathe a sigh of relief, her expression turning somewhat gentler as her eyes glanced down at the ripped seam on Saya's sleeve. "What on earth happened to your jacket?"
"I picked at it," Saya confessed sheepishly, her nature notably returning to its usual state as she cracked a weak smile. "I know you tell me off for it, Hama-chan. Come on, just get on with the lecture."
"I don't 'lecture'", Leiko sniffed, although in all honesty it was good to see that Saya was finally breaking out of this 'Rokoru-senpai' madness. "Come on, let's get it fixed up at Home Ecs."
"Do they even meet up today?" Saya blinked, a little surprised at Leiko's offer. "I mean, we can't just barge in there, right?"
"I don't know. Maybe we're just 'scouting' for clubs," was Leiko's reply, her lips pulling into the most devious of smiles before leading the way forward.
