Right then. Before we proceed, a bit about me. I'm a 20-something female with a decade's worth of writing experience and a wide variety of interests. My inspiration's been thin as of late, so I'm hoping to kick-start my muse again with one (or two) good stories. Now, regarding my expectations...
Expectations
- I'm mostly looking for mature, 18+ male partners to play a male character to my female. Characters must also be above 18. That being said, if you're a female who prefers to play female, I'd be open to taking on a male main character. No complaints, as long as quality writing's present.
- I believe "advanced" is a state of mind, rather than how many paragraphs you can roll out. I'd be perfectly happy to accept one large paragraph, provided it's well-written and adequately explores your character's thoughts, actions or motivations. I will not stick to a post length requirement, though on average I usually write three to five paragraphs - longer if the muse is working well. Do not ever feel compelled to match my post length if I happen to give you more than you were expecting. Similarly, do not expect a page from me if you give me a page. I love reading long posts, but I will not force myself to match them if I cannot do so.
- I do not believe in censoring myself. That includes violence or gore, profanity and smut. But I do not want a roleplay that is 100% smut. Romance (as in the deep, emotional connection between two people) is extremely welcome. Plot always comes first. Because of the aforementioned, PMs are my preferred method of roleplay.
- I have a life behind the screen, and issues to deal with, just like most other people. Roleplaying is a hobby, and I will not tolerate being harassed for posts. Some days, I'll be able to post multiple times. On other occasions, you might have to wait a week or longer. I'll try to keep OOC conversation going if I can't post, but in essence I'm a very patient partner. Want to watch the entire run of Breaking Bad before you reply? No problem. I'd like a similar amount of patience and understanding from my partners. I also believe that it's better to wait for inspiration before posting instead of coming up with a shoddy post purely because you're trying to keep to some kind of obligatory posting schedule.
- I do not do well with overly submissive or unrealistically weak characters. My characters are usually independent in personality, and I'd like someone who can play a more confident (at least, on the surface), dominant type. That's not to say you can't have self-doubt, or inner anguish, or things like that (hell, I love self-doubt and inner anguish). I just don't want to play alongside a character who runs screaming from every enemy and ends up crying in a corner for 80% of the roleplay.
- I will not lead you around throughout the story. I expect a story to be a collaborative effort.
- I love making minor characters/NPCs. Usually, I'll share control of these minor characters with my partner.
- I do not do high school, generic slice-of-life, or any of those "day to day" things. I roleplay to escape real life, thanks.
- I love dark, gritty themes with high levels of realism (of course, subject to the world we're playing in). Do not come to me requesting to play a half-dragon, half-siren, half-vampire shapeshifter with angel wings and the power to level entire cities with the snap of a finger. Pretty please. Also, if I encounter a subject I'm unfamiliar with, I'll usually do my own research for accuracy's sake; but if you could assist me in broadening my knowledge, it would be highly, highly appreciated.
- I love action, but I also love human interaction. Let's have a good balance between the two.
- Tell me if you'd like to drop. "Hey, I'm sorry but I'd like to drop our roleplay." That's it. That's all you need. No explanation required. Do not vanish on me. I'll show you the same courtesy.
- Show some manners OOC. I will ignore you if you're rude, abusive, or keep sending me PMs like "WHY HAVEN'T YOU REPLIED".
- When you contact me, do include something about yourself and your interests, and maybe plot ideas if you have any of your own. No worries if you don't, we can most definitely brainstorm up something together. Do not simply post a message saying "hi do u wanna rp". I will drop you like a hot coal. No offense.
And that's it. If you've made it here, congratulations. I assure you, I'm actually a very kind and very understanding person. If you just skimmed everything, well...I hope I don't find out, because nothing annoys me more than writing out an entire wall of requirements only to have people skip it and make a blunder later on. Seriously, guys, reading's not that hard, and I want to cover all my bases when it comes to what I'd like in a partner. Now, to my interests.
Interests
- Post-apocalyptic/apocalyptic. The end of human civilization, or the aftermath of that end. Pandemic, technology failure, natural disasters...I'll do it all. We could even do a whole Western-themed story set in a desolate, nuclear-ravaged wasteland. Whatever floats your boat.
- War/military. I'll do this in most any setting. I enjoy having characters in the midst of conflicts, whether they're soldiers, aid workers or even civilians trapped in a war-torn country. Or maybe a medieval war where a kingdom is engaged in what seems to be a hopeless struggle against the twisted minions of a powerful ancient sorcerer.
- Dystopian. Totalitarian society run by a tyrannical leader. Propaganda, constant monitoring and surveillance. A fledgling resistance movement that eventually becomes big enough to threaten the government, etc.
- Dark fantasy. Medieval, urban or more steampunk-ish, it doesn't matter, though medieval is preferred and possibly my favorite genre of all time. And if you've heard of/played the game Bloodborne, I'd love to do a roleplay based in a similar world. I'd also be open to doing something with superhumans or the like.
- Sci-fi/cyberpunk. I adore futuristic settings, and movies/games I've liked range from Elysium to Mass Effect. A robot uprising, time-traveling soldiers, an escaped cyborg experiment, prisoners locked in a giant starship (like the Purgatory in Mass Effect)...I'd be up for all that.
- Survival/survival horror. Hapless tourists stranded on an island of violent cannibals? Yes please. Colony overrun by bloodthirsty aliens? Let's do it. Scientists trapped in an isolated arctic research facility? Hell yeah. Horror's a favorite theme of mine, so run wild.
- Supernatural. Vampires, werewolves, shapeshifters...anything that isn't conventionally "human". I'd love to combine this genre with another genre. A post-apocalyptic society run by supernatural creatures is one such idea. That being said, supernatural with a military twist is something I've been craving for a while. I just haven't been able to formulate a proper plot for it.
- Crime and modern thriller. I love crime dramas and true crime. Drug lords, dirty cops, serial killers. I also love political thrillers and stories filled with conspiracy and intrigue. Assassin in town to off a foreign dignitary, rival hitmen, rogue intelligence agents, a wealthy casino owner who's secretly involved in human trafficking...
- Historical fantasy. Secret experiments/superhumans fighting during WWII, supernatural creatures inhabiting a steampunk Victorian London...
- Your suggestions. Got something you've been absolutely itching to try, and think I might make a good partner for it? Throw it at me. The worst I could do is say no.
And yeah. I think I've listed all there is to list, for now. If interested, feel free to drop me a PM or something. This is not a first come, first serve thing, so please be patient. And with that, I bid you "Vale" - until we meet again.
