Bio

Hello, I am Knight and I would like one or more role-playing partners. But before you jump in and say, “I’ll Role-Play with you!” There are some things you need to know about me first.

My Role-Player Profile

OOC Chat & Communication: Absolutely! Communication is key and I love to communicate with those I role-play with. I also love getting to know my role-playing partners so our communication does not necessarily mean role-playing only, it can be a chat between two potential friends as well.

Format: One-on-One and small groups.

Favorite Genres & Fandoms: My favorite ones are Super-Heroes, Sci-Fi and some Fantasy (depending on the premise and the setting). I’m open to most other genres, as well as fandoms, and I will play in them if my role-playing partner is interested in them. It never hurts to ask.

Aside from the genre I am about to cover, I don't do Slice of Life role-plays. If I want that, I'll just live my life since that's basically all it is.

No Horror: There is one genre I absolutely hate and I will NOT play in it. If it’s 100% pure Horror, I won’t touch it. If the RP is going to be primarily about Ghosts, Zombies (I especially HATE zombies), psycho killers and anything else seen in horror films/TV then count me out. Now, if my RP with someone has some horror elements, creatures, monsters and crazy people (i.e. like the Joker) then I’m okay with that. Just so long as it’s not the entire focus of it, then I’m good to go. Otherwise, no thank you.

I’m okay with Vampires, Werewolves and other creatures of the night, just so long as you don’t change my character into a Vampire, or Werewolf, without asking me first. Speaking of which, I’m okay with some elements of the supernatural, like the creatures I just mentioned, but not all. It depends on the premise and the setting of what someone else wants to do with that.

Posting Schedule: Sunday through Thursday is my schedule for role-playing. I will not be available every Friday and Saturday. I will check PM’s, however, and make responses to Out of Character PM’s, but not In Character ones. I’m sorry, but Fridays and Saturdays are not very good days for me to role-play.

Posting Speed: I’ll try and post every day, but sometimes I will post once every other day if I feel uninspired or I get a case of writers block. On the other hand, if I’m waiting for a post from you then take as much time as you need. I will check in on you to see if your still alive or just to chat. For me, it’s not about how often one posts, but it’s about the quality of the post you can give me.

I don’t care how often you give me a post just so long as it’s at least once a week. Preferably more often than that, but I won’t make a fuss of it. If you cannot manage that, then please let me know and I’ll wait patiently. And if anything happens in real life that gets in the way, please drop me a line as I’d greatly appreciate being informed if you cannot post for any reason. In turn, I will do the same for you.

Writing Level: Intermediate to Advanced. I will consistently provide 2 paragraphs at minimum but I will always try to give 3 or more. On the other hand, I do respectfully ask the same from my role-playing partners. I hate one liners and short posts because I want content to work with. I realize that real life can get in the way, school, work, etc, and so a paragraph, or a few sentences, might be all you can manage, especially during a slow conversation. However, I would prefer my role-playing partners are able to give me 2 to 3 decent sized paragraph sized posts on a consistent basis.

Public Vs. Private Messages: Depending on where you want to play, I’m fine if we role-play in PM’s or on the forum. However, I will not role-play by E-Mail, Discord or any other method.

Mature Rating: I would prefer if our role-plays remain equal to what you see and hear in a movie that is rated PG-13. However, I will do 18+ role-plays. All I ask is that you please make an effort to keep the profanity to a minimum.

A Word About Characters: I’m perfectly fine with one-and-done characters where I create a character, role-play him/her and then once the RP concludes I never play that character again. But I’m also a huge fan of keeping my characters and having more than just one adventure with them. I like to continue their stories and continue their character development/growth. So, if you do role-play with me, please be prepared for the possibility of keeping your characters for future stories once one role-play concludes. I may wish to revisit the same characters with a brand new story/plot in the future.

Character & Gender Preference: I’m flexible with the types of characters I play because I’m equally comfortable playing men as well as women. I have even played teenagers and children. I have also played characters with an inhuman appearance. I have played most personality types from submissive to aggressive, from tough guys to strong women. I like to keep flexible so if you prefer a certain character type then please let me know.

Romantic Relationships: Male & Female only.

A Word about Character Pictures & Face Claims: I have no issues if you want to use anime, cartoon, real life, CGI or even a comic pic for your character. Use whatever you want.

Rules: Sorry, but I do have some rules if you want to RP with me. I have tried to keep them as simple as possible so please bear with me.

1. Please work with me. I love working with other people to bounce ideas off of them. I don’t want to run the entire plot myself and I’d rather not have you do it by yourself either. We’re a team, we are in this together so let’s work as a team.

2. I’m sorry, but I’ll need a sample of your writing. Many claim they can deliver what I ask only to deliver one liner posts.

3. I don’t do smut Role-Plays. I’m okay with our characters sharing a kiss, holding hands, hugging or even sharing the same bed. But if it goes any further than that, it’s always a black curtain and a fast forward for me. I’m not against romance, I just don’t play out anything beyond a kiss. If all you want is romance between our characters, I’m out. I’m not against romance or having my character fall in love with someone else’s character. But if my RP with you is going to be nothing but romance or heavy with romance and little else, then I want nothing to do with it.

My focus is story, action, drama, character growth and character development. Not necessarily in that order, but all of those things take the priority over romance for me. If romance happens, I’d rather let it happen naturally and not force it.

4. Please don’t control my character without my permission. If you want to do something because of the context of your post, then please ask me first. I will likely be open to it and say yes. And please don’t give your character knowledge they should not possess. For example: Just because you know my character is moonlighting as a super-hero does not mean your character does.

5. If your interested in role-playing with me, then please PM me. If you message me on the forum and say to PM you, expect to be ignored.

Now that the rules are out of the way, let’s get to what I am most interested in. All of these are just basic ideas to start us off so sending me a private message to bounce ideas off of me would be a good thing so that we can work on a plot & story together. I want to see what we both can up with because I don’t want to do all the work.

Amalgam: The DC and Marvel Universe have combined! It’s chaos! We can either play as canon characters or originals, doesn’t matter. If canon characters are picked, all I ask is you have a working knowledge of the character your playing so you can stay in character. It doesn’t have to be perfect, but please make an effort to know the character your going to play.

Original Super-Hero Setting: I’m open to an original super-hero setting that isn’t based in any known comic book universe.

Star Wars: Original characters only, set in a time period either long after the last movie or long before them. For this one I actually do have something of a plot in mind but it’s a simple one and not overly detailed so I’d love to bounce ideas off of you if your interested.

Star Trek: Set in the year 2409, this takes place in the main time line and several years after the last movie. Original characters only. I’ll play the Captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise NCC 1701-F and some members of the crew. I would appreciate it if my role-playing partner is willing to not only play his/her character but also NPC some of the other crew members as well.

Original Fantasy Setting: This will take place thousands of years in the past on Earth (or in an original fantasy setting of our own creation). But this is not a historical setting since my character will have super-human strength like Hercules. But he/she won’t be a demigod or anything like that. I am open to the ‘gods’ existing if your into that. I’m also open to readjusting the time line of this setting if a later one works better for you, but I would prefer this setting is kept sometime in the BC era.

Mass Effect: This sounds fun. I can either take on one of the canon characters or an original if you like.

Other Genres & Fandoms: Anything I don’t have listed doesn’t necessarily mean I’m not willing to play it. It won’t hurt to ask me and see if I’m willing to to do it.

The day starts out like any other. Lucas Knight gets up early and puts on his work out clothes. But first, he mixes up a protein drink and swallows it down before he begins his intense work out that takes hours to complete. Once a week, he mixes things up a little by taking a six mile jog if he can fit in the time. This morning, he skips the jog and when he finishes his workout he hops in the shower.

Lucas cooks himself a simple breakfast, keeping it small to help maintain his weight. He’s strict, preferring a low fat and low carb diet. He rarely eats out, even with what few friends he happens to have. On the rare occasions he does end up eating out, it’s always a salad for him or something that isn’t high in fat and high in carbs as they do nothing for his body.

Days before, Lucas applied for a position as a body guard for some upcoming singer and sent in his application along with his resume and references. Now he waits for a call either for an interview or to say he’s hired. Most people choose to interview him face to face but a few have been known to take one look at his application and resume before immediately hiring him. If he gets this job, the pay is good. At least, in his own opinion.

Lucas doesn’t really have an opinion on the singer herself. Before the applying for the job, he’s never even heard of her, which isn’t very surprising. He deduces she must be on the rise as a singer and a possible High School graduate. Of course, he guesses, she might still be in High School. Either way, it doesn’t matter. A job is a job and even though he hopes they get along he prepares himself for the possibility they might not. But all of this is assuming he even gets the job. He might not, it really depends on any number of factors.

As Lucas waits for the phone call, he begins to pull apart a rifle before putting it back to together again. Before he puts it back together, he cleans it and does the same to every weapon he owns. He checks his other equipment to make sure everything is working properly. When he is satisfied he finally sits down and begins reading a book about military history as he waits for the phone call.
I'm just curious what genres you guys are interested in your Role-Plays and, to a lesser extent, some tropes that I've seen from time to time.

Do you like?

Western

Sci-Fi

Fantasy

Super-Heroes

Real World

Historical

Medieval

Modern

Fantasy/Sci-Fi (I know I already listed this, but it's a common thing I see in TV programming when they combine the two).

Horror

Supernatural
@Candlelitsoul Hello Candle! I hope you don't mind, but I wanted to combine all of your ideas in one quote and respond to the ideas I'm interested in playing with you and also making my own comments, giving you a writing sample and proposing ideas of my own in addition to yours. Just basic ideas for now to keep things simple. More details can be discussed in PM's if your interested in RPing with me since I'm new to this website. I'd like to work with you and I hope you would like to work with me.

1) No sexual content. I don't write it. I am, however, seeking players 18 and above. Most of my content has triggering themes such as ongoing and past abuse, drugs and alcohol, mentions of rape, and dark themes involving bloodshed, war, and gore.

Now this is one of the best things that drew me to your ideas since I am 100% in agreement with you regarding no sexual content. Now, I'm not against romance and I'll play it out with other Role-Players, but it's always a fast forward for me and a black curtain if it's going to go any further than a kiss on the lips. So, in regards to that, we're in agreement.

2) Multi-paragraph. I want content to work with. I can understand a paragraph during a slow conversation scene, but the bulk has to be multiple paragraphs.

Same here and I will do my level best to give you content to work with that is at least 3 or more paragraphs per post.

3) I don't usually do this, but I need a sample of your writing. Too often people have claimed to be what they aren't, and I'm hoping to head that off at the pass.

Very reasonable. Here is a sample of my writing:

The war hit like a storm of raging wildfire and the hundreds of years that it took man to build his creations of brick and wood, it only took hours to tear it all down. Eric was a soldier in that war and he fought with bravery, as well as valor. But it was all for naught. The war was lost and Eric was one of the few lucky soldiers to come home to his family. He didn't need to look at their faces to know they were afraid, but he knew they were. But he needed to look strong, he was the man of the house and everyone looked up to him for leadership. Even his wife. As they pack their things, getting ready to move to the underground bunker, Eric tries his best to give what comfort he can to a family he can barely hold together.

How does one deal with the world ending? There are so many questions that go unanswered. Despair hits and suicides end up at an all time high. How would you convince your children that life is still worth living? Will the world continue or will his family be the last one on Earth? Will Eric and his wife end up as the new Adam and Eve? If Eric was not already married, would he make out with a woman he barely met just to have some last moments of pleasure? Would Eric resort to robbing stores for food? Would he kill other people simply to survive and protect his family? He shudders at all of these thoughts.

Eric clenches his jaw, determining that he will protect his family no matter what. Even if the world has gone mad, he will protect them. At a time like this, he's thankful that his family can all walk. No babies in the family. But he looks at his daughter, who is the youngest, and he knows she'll be the most vulnerable being only seven years old. His son, who is the oldest, is not yet a man. Eric will have to defend them all and he will fight to the death if he has to. It's a good thing he took the time to learn martial arts as well as spent time in the army. He's going to have to turn his children into soldiers, even his daughter. To teach them all to survive.

How's that for starters? I could have kept going, but I didn't want this post to be too long since I'm already quoting some of what you said.

4) Be able to post, at the bare minimum, once every few days. We all have busy lives, especially with the college semesters coming up, home lives, illnesses, and children, but I would like to keep the story going.

I can do that. Except for Fridays and Saturdays. I don't post on those days as they are bad days for me. But Sunday through Thursday I can do. However, I'll be honest. When I get sick, I don't post at all until I'm better since my writing turns pretty awful when I'm sick. If that happens while we RP, I'll give you a heads up. I'm mindful of my Role-Playing partners and I try to always inform them of important things. You will be treated with the same respect I have shown to others.

2) X-Men- Takes place after the first movie. Wolverine is on patrol when he spots the body of a young woman in the bushes inside the school grounds. He takes her to the medical ward where it is discovered that she’d been a prisoner of a local gang of mutant haters. She is blind, mute, and two months pregnant. Need someone able to play Logan as he is.

I've played Logan before elsewhere and I can play him again. Totally down for this one. Love Super-Heroes!

3) Boy and girl hook up at a party. Two months later, the girl finds him and announces her pregnancy. She tells him she won’t ask for his help, and that he’s off the hook. Three months go by before they see each other again. She is living on the streets. He convinces her to come live with him at his parents house. The story is about their journey in growing up, accepting responsibility, and finding each other emotionally.

The more I think about this one, the more I am intrigued. I have an idea of my own, but not sure if you'll agree. But it doesn't hurt to try. What if they both are mutants have super powers? And what if, to complicate things, they are hunted by mutant hunters?

4) Man comes to work for a husband and wife as body guard to their daughter; an up and coming singer. He’s to make sure she stays on task, and is well guarded, but also to report her daily activities. He notices she sneaks out at night, hangs with kids her own age, even sings in clubs. He reports it all, until he comes to realize the punishment they inflict upon her. Now, he wants to try to help save her by keeping her secrets, and helping her become emancipated from their control.

I'm open to this one. Sounds good. I already have the beginnings of a character in mind for the hired body guard. Not sure about the possible romance, but it depends on how old the daughter is and I am open to it. I'm thinking the body guard is a highly skilled martial artist and possibly an ex-marine. But that last part might make him a bit too old for the romantic angle.

[quote]2) Husband and wife, both bounty hunters, live a comfortable life, and they work cases together. (There may be pregnancy if both parties agree).

Sounds good. Do you, by any chance, have any more details on this one?

1) No real plot, but one can be created. My character owns a tavern in a small village. Her past will be revealed through her biography. Hoping for someone to either play the husband, or a traveler with whom romance can happen later. There will be no fantasy element.

What about a Super-Hero element? m

1) Street family (Group of people who call themselves a family, living on the streets). They will steal and kill to survive. the group is headed by a mother and father figure (this idea was taken from a Law and Order: SVU episode. If you know the one, you're awesome! If you don't, that's okay! It's not the same as in the show). During the summer months, they take to the city. When winter comes around, they squat in any abandoned building to keep from the elements. This can take place in the US or England.

In addition to your idea, maybe this takes place in a post apocalyptic type of setting, that way it's a dog eat dog world. What do you think?

3) An 18 year old girl is trekking through the frozen city streets in search of her father and his girlfriend. He’s agreed to meet her at an old familiar location, but must survive the war torn city streets. After the government dropped the bomb on its citizens, survivors have been scouring the post-apocalyptic city streets for signs of their loved one while hiding from the men seeking them. Three months pregnant and alone, she stumbles across a fellow survivor. Though her first instinct is to kill him, the discovery that he has a medical degree stops her in her tracks. Finding her loved ones, they leave the heart of the city to find a safer shelter.

I have rarely played anyone with medical knowledge. But if your okay with that, I'm game with this if you are.

4) The basic plot revolves around a home in the forest; away from society, it's hardships, and the toxic atmosphere it can present. There, they will build a new life. This can go two different ways; real world or fantasy. If fantasy: They have powers (elemental only) and are making a haven for people like them. If real world: It's for safety, anonymity, and a fresh start to live without constraints.

Totally down for the fantasy version of this one.

I look forward to discussing any further details with you. ^_^
@NuttsnBolts Ahhh, that's unfortunate. Still better to ask and be sure then to never ask at all right? ~_^

Thank you for the prompt reply, I appreciate it.
First of all, this is an awesome forum!

Second of all, I have a suggestion.

I see there is a Star Wars Persistent Universe that has it's own forum topic, OC, etc. Now, my suggestion is making another one but calling it something like a "Super-Hero Persistent Universe". It doesn't have to be named that, it's just a suggestion. But this forum topic would have it's own rules and the like. Players would be able to create characters and continue to play them in multiple story arcs. World events can be planned where the good guys are pitted against the bad guys in a story themed RP.

Now, I realize that there is a Super-Hero persistent universe already on here, but it doesn't have it's own Forum topic like the Star Wars Persistent universe. My suggestion is maybe making that into it's own forum topic?

What does everyone else think?
@DocRock I actually do this all the time, and have done it for years, on other websites that I role-play on. I like to continue the progress of my characters. One and done characters are fine too since it allows me to explore a lot more possibilities.

Reading some of the replies to you above, it saddens me that this is becoming a lost art.
@Candlelitsoul Thank you! ^_^
Thank you. ^_^
Wow, you put a ton of detail into this. What you offer is very reasonable and I hope you get plenty of offers. I don't think we would make a good fit, at least not at the current time. But I did want to at least drop you a line and say hello. :)
