I care not for the turmoils of man, for if I were to concern myself with the problems of others, then I would forever be pitying those who can not help themselves and I must lead my own life. - Kodiak

Have you ever just looked into the darkness and it looked back at you? Have you even felt like the only love in the world is the arms which come to you at night when your dreams are all dead and your nightmares are your only friends? Have you ever truly felt so lost in the abyss that you know in your heart you will never again breath the fresh air? If any of the answers to these questions are yes then your screw just like me buddy lmfao.

But no I am just a roleplayer, maybe I will spruce this up a bunch one day but for now when its all said an done I am a dude, I am twenty three and come from Saginaw Mi, although we call it "The Nasty" if you have to ask why you probably don't want to know :P. I have been role playing for the better half of fourteen years. I am a thinker, a reader, a writer, and an eater (because if we can all die in the next minute I want to go full). I love thunder storms and getting caught in the rain, no i don't really prefer pina coladas but I don't mind a bottle of Mikes on a hot night. An if you made it this far without just pressing the back button then your a trooper because not many people can continue reading such random crap, in which case you passed the test and we can be friends ;).

Anyways call me Kodiak, call me TC, call me The King Tallahassee, ok strike the last one it just rhymed well. Anways (again) you want to know me just ask ^^ ill be around.

@Kodiak I'm going to guess this is based more off of Quake 2 than Quake 1?

This is based off Quake 4 events it takes place within the ten years after the final defeat of the Makron and the Nexus Core.

☣ The Story Thus Far ☣

Strogg Medical Facility
Planet Strorg
July 18th 2060

Colonel Seraph Thatcher sat in the oddly shaped chair silently as his fingers clicked on the various alien symbols that was the native language of the Strogg. To an onlooker the screen was full of various symbols that held no meaning, but not to Thatcher, he was one of the rare few who had the ability to read the language. All around him there was various sounds of gunfire and yelling, however this did not seem to bother the man at the terminal, tossing the cigarette away Thatcher blew a large cloud of smoke from his mouth as there was a couple loud beeps from the console and a whole new screen lite up. Looking at the symbols he nodded to himself as if he understood something and turned the chair towards another screen, reaching into the bag next to him on the console he pulled what appeared to be a large but crude key card, sliding it into the slot beside the main interface there was a series of fast cycling symbols on the screen and another loud beep as the change switched again.

“Interesting, very interesting.”

Thatcher spoke more to himself then anything else however he heard a rather nervous voice from behind him, turning his attention from the screen the green to the gill Private behind him was speaking to him, his eyes darting in every which direction. The private was young, couldn't have been older then eighteen, hell he still had a baby face on him, they did get younger everyday.

“Sir... it sound...s.. like the fighting is getting...um getting closer. Don't you think we should uh get out of here before.. you know it gets here.”

Thatcher turned back to the console as he caressed his fingers over more of the symbols on the console, he spoke in his usual deep scratchy voice as he read codes of symbols on the screen as they flashed by.

“Don't worry about the fighting Private, that was the whole point of a diversionary tactic to begin with, so that we could access the main medical console. To be honest your probably safest out of most of the soldiers out there fighting.”

Thatchers tone was stern but not harsh, he understood what it was like to be new to a war like this. However he also understood that the difference between life and death was knowing when to put your boot down and when you shouldn't. The kid was afraid and he was right to be so, the facility in which only mere hours ago was an operating Strogg human farm was now under siege and the Strogg who guarded the facility were less then pleased. Truth was though that this facility was not a run of the mill facility, this was one of the central hubs for Strogg Medical Procedures on the entire planet of Strorg, which also meant it was where much information was kept in correlation to human stroggification. So in reality the attack on the Medical Facility was not meant to be long term, they did not possess the much needed force to hold back the Strogg here which meant he had to grab the information and get the hell out before too much life was lost.

“Sir I think we need to get out of here, I can hear the battle drawing closer and closer, we really need to go.”

Thatcher ignored the private as he kept hitting the various symbols across the console in quick succession, the screen kept switching quickly. They needed this information more then this Private knew or was told. When Matthew Kane had destroyed the Makron and then the Nexus Core everyone thought the war would end, in reality that had only strengthened the resolve. After the Core fell and their general destroyed the Strogg fled in disarray, the day had been won but that was not the end of it. It was months of peace before the Strogg returned and in a stronger force then ever. What no one had known was that the Nexus Core was but one of the cores, it was a bitter pill to swallow for everyone who had worked for so much, the sacrifices made were in vain, they had destroyed one for another one to present itself. But that was often the way of war, it did not just end and that was the truth that never changed.

Five years later the human race was now on the edge of chaos, the Strogg has attacked Earth again and destroyed many lives in retalliation for the Makron destroyed by Kane. They had managed to drive the Strogg out but the damage was done, there was little choice in the matter after that, they had to take the fight to the Strogg home planet Strorg if nothing else to stop them from trying to attack Earth again. But now they were in more fire straights then ever before, they were being pushed back on all fronts, and losing more and more men by the day. They were losing this war and nothing could hide that now, thats why they so desperately needed this information, this could be the last chance the human race has to turn the table on the Strogg.

“Colonel! I think they are here!”

Thatcher heard the banging on the door and the snarles behind it, the enemy was officially here. Thatcher quickly turned as he flipped up a nearby console near his bag and quickly entered in the code into the device, on the other side of the door there was a loud bang and screams as the flash bangs did their job. He was almost there now, quickly turning he went back to typing into the console, there was only a couple lines of code left now... the computer beeped again as if recognizing Thatchers urgency, and just like Thatcher quickly pressed the transfer key and the information quickly copied onto the crude keycard he had inserted earlier. As soon as the computer finished downloading the intel Thatcher removed the key card and quickly threw it and the computer into the black bag and zipped it closed.

“Lets move now!”

Thatcher yelled at the private as he quickly complied as there were sparks from the other side of the locked door, they were cutting through. Taking the shotgun off the console Thatcher clicked a couple more symbols and then pointed his gun at the console and blasted it blowing it to pieces, the door on the other side of the room opened with a hiss as both of the men ran through the door. Thatcher turned quickly as he leaned down to the bottom of the door, pulling a thermo charge from his belt he quickly placed it on the side of the door and armed it.

“Go now! Move! We are out of time!”

Thatcher moved away from the door quickly as he took out the detonator, clicking up the switch he clicked it as the door exploded in blocking the entrance. Quickly putting his finger to his headset he spoke:

“This is Thatcher, all remaining forces are to cease attack and fall back to Echo Point, repeat cease attacks and fall back to Echo Point.”

“Colonel watch out!”

Thatcher looked quickly as a tactical Strogg came around the corner, it quickly pointed its rail gun and fired, Thatcher flung himself to the ground as the bolt splashed against the nearby wall going straight through. The Private quickly came to Thatchers aid firing a barrage from his own weapon, the Strogg quickly bolted around the corner as Thatcher came back to his feet. Thatcher removed a grenade from his belt and clicked the top, it gave a shrill beep as he flung it to the corner, there was a scream as it detonated taking the Strogg in its blast.

“Lets move eyes open soldier!”

Thatcher cocked his shotgun and ran forward, sliding down to the ground he flung past the corner, a Strogg was waiting on the other side with a blast of his shotgun its head was destroyed. Getting to his feet Thatcher flung himself down the hallway, another Strogg came around the corner and raised it gun to attack, Thatcher however was close and with a direct hit from his shotgun cracked the Strogg straight in the head, flipping the shotgun back around he blasted it into oblivion as another Strogg came from behind. Feeling the hand on his shoulder he quickly grabbed it and flipped the Strogg as he moved sideways, the Strogg smacked the ground as he brought his boot down and smashed its neck with a sick crack. Looking forward and Iron Maiden came around the corner up ahead, with a shrill scream it raised its arm and blasted a missile. Thatcher quickly grabbed the private and threw him into an opened door in the hall, the missile came by with a shrill whistle and exploded shortly afterwards. Thatcher put his back to the wall as he looked at the kid on the floor he was shivering, afraid to even stand back up. Closing his eye's Thatcher knew... knew it was coming, he could feel its presence on the very air. Looking up he quickly went to the soldier on the ground, he bent down and looked him in the eye.

“Private I have a very important task for you now.”

Moments later Thatcher exited the room alone this time, on both sides of the hallway Strogg had filled the corridors. It was over and there was no escape. Dropping his shotgun on the ground the Strogg all remained silent and still, it was here that was the only reason he was not dead. Thatcher slowly reached down sighing as he removed the pack of smokes from his vest, there was one left, putting it in his lips he slowly lite it up as the Strogg in front of him made a line on the wall, down the hall came what appeared to be a man in all black clothing, his hair was jet black and sunglasses covered his eye's. Thatcher knew though that the thing infront of him was no human, no he knew better then that, it was merely a Strogg that took the appearance of one, the Strogg General, the General known as Ragnok. There was no use in fighting now, Ragnok was beyond all other Strogg guns were useless.

“Colonel Thatcher I figured it was you, only you would be rash enough to attack such a guarded facility.”

Thatcher blew smoke out of his mouth as the voice that came from the human like Strogg didn't fit, it was deep and demon like. The Strogg General stopped a short distance away and both of them seemed to stare at each other for a time before the silence was broken.

“I would ask why your here Colonel but I already know, I am afraid you won't be taking that data back to those pathetic insects. This time you chose a target that was beyond you Colonel, and this time your going to pay for your arrogance.”

“I did not come here expecting to leave Strogg, it was always a forgone conclusion that I would die sooner or later in this war, it was merely my time, my turn, much is how war goes. If you think you I am going to beg for your sick pleasure your quite wrong.”

The Strogg General laughed rather sarcastically as he approached Thatcher, it one fell grip he took him by the neck and lifted him effortlessly off his feet and slammed him into a wall. Getting close up the Strogg General put his face in Thatchers and spoke:

“Your suffering interests me not insect, you and your entire race are not even worth the effort. Your like a disease that lingers, but sooner or later becomes obsolete. I have had the displeasure of being exposed to your race for far too long, the displeasure of watching you succeed and thinking any of it made a difference. You may have killed Makron but compared to me Makron was nothing more then a gnat. Makron was not even worth the parts he was made of, to be given so much power and to be beaten so pathetically. But I do not care to talk of pathetic failures, I want that data card, give me it now and I may make your death painful instead of torture.”

Thatcher felt himself hit the floor as Ragnok released him, slowly reaching down he picked up the still smoldering smoke off the ground and shakily took a drag from it, his last as he looked up at Ragnok and smiled with blood dripping between his teeth.

“I am afraid the data card by now is far from your grasp. I knew you would be here Ragnok, did you truly believe your being here was a shock. If there is one thing you Strogg are bad at its underestimating what my race is capable of. You may have numbers and strength and technology, but what you dont have and never will is the heart of a human, the will and desire, the never dieing flame that burns in all of us, and thats why you will all die, thats why...”

Thatcher felt Ragnoks hand breach his throat again, he gagged hard as the smoke fell from his lips with a discharge of maroon blood. Thatcher was wrenched through the air and slammed into the floor with such force that he felt his back break in two. Ragnok leaned down and looked Thatcher dead in the eye's as he sneered.

“Iv had enough of your pathetic little speeches, where is the data card insect??”

Thatcher gasped violently as blood came exploding from his mouth, he still managed to faintly smile as he coughed.

“Its far from your reach now, as I said... I knew you would come so... I planned.. ahead. By now its on.. a transport heading... to my people. Who will use it... to... fucking destroy you, you pathetic piece of shit!”

Thatcher spit with the last of his strength as the bloody saliva hit the face of Ragnok. Thatcher felt himself lift one last time from the ground as Ragnok brought him down one last time, in that last moment Thatcher smiled one last time knowing that with his death the fates of this war would change and the Strogg would parish.

Emergency Transport Echo Point
Planet Strorg
July 18th 2060

The young private silently looked at the data card in his hands, tears were slowly streaming down his face as many of the survivors from the assault were either hurt or dieing around him in the transport. As he sat there so silently the words from Colonel Thatcher rang in his head still:

“Private... my life is about to come to an end, I don't have time to explain but there was a reason why I requested you to accompany me here. You see that vent over there? They are all over this facility, they are small and lead to the outside, your size is a perfect fit. This is the data card, you must get it to General Acker no matter the cost. I know that your scared, I once was too, I stood in your boots on the battle field, I watched so many die for so long. But Private I want you to know that no matter how much death there is in this war, that one day it will end. The darkness can not last forever, the pain will become dull, one day it will all come full circle and on that day it will be your generation that stands victorious over the Strogg. Let the old men of this world sacrifice life so that you may have the future that you deserve. This my last request Private, never give up and never lose yourself because this war isnt about power, or disagreements, this war about protecting the ones we love, and I pass my will onto you in my last hour. An remember don't cry for the dead, pity the living for it is them that still suffer.”

The young private looked up at the men who suffered from their wounds on the ship, slowly wiping away the tears he stood up and looked out the window of the transport looking at the ground rushing by below and spoke lowly to himself:

“This is the last tears I will shed Colonel, I will take the fight to the Strogg, I will become strong and one day avenge you. I will not let your sacrifice or the many other sacrifices of so many men and woman be wasted. On my blood I will bring this war to and end and bring peace to Earth once and for all.”

The young private slashed his hand and clenched his fist angrily as the blood dripped between his fingers, this war was far from over, but he would stand there on that final day when the Strogg parish or he would die trying.

Five years... its been five years since Colonel Thatcher perished at the hand of the Strogg General known only as Ragnok. Since the Colonels death the war has finally shifted, with his last great sacrifice, the information in which Thatcher gave his life for became the rock in which we needed to throw the war in our favor. The information we obtained at the Strogg Medical Facility that day gave us the power to not only reverse Stroggification but to also use the Stroggs own technology against them. With the information we were able to enhance our race with Strogg modifications that made us stronger faster and deadlier and most of all it gave us the ability to make chips in which made us capable of not only reading Strogg language and understanding it but also gave us the ability to get into Strogg restricted areas without fear of instant death. Almost over night we were able to bypass Strogg security measures and use their own devices against them. The war now stands on the edge of a knife, the home planet Strorg has been ravaged by war and we have pushed the Strogg back on many fields and everyday we grow closer to the Strogg Citadel where not only the main Nexus Core resides but also General Ragnok. With our final pushes we will infiltrate the Strogg stronghold and once and for all destroy our enemy. Without the Nexus on Strorg the entire Strogg race will fall into total and utter disarray. This time there will be no resurgence, this time we will end this once and for all, the war is finally coming full circle, we will know peace or we will die trying.

☣ Expectations for all applicants ☣

(First and foremost I would like to welcome you to this thread, if you have made it this far I imagine your interested in joining. Below is my expectations from any and all who submit an application. I am not a strict fellow but in the terms of keeping this a fun and friendly environment, please read over the list below. I am a one chance person so there is no excuses for breaking one of my expectations and saying you did not read this.)

I want this to be a fun an friendly environment I can not stress this enough, good roleplays die because of certain people who find themselves incapable of being civilized. I want the OOC to remain clean of spamming, flaming, fighting, arguing, personal insults, advertising and so forth, there is no call for it an no need for it. If you want to discuss things in OOC then go for it, if you want to just banter back and forth for fun go for it, but the moment it goes serious take it to PM or I will handle it.

In terms of guild rules I want you all to follow all specified rules of this site, I am not going to recite them for your should know and if you don't then learn them. I don't want the thread shit down on the count of too many of these rules being broken, I don't worry as much in Advanced Roleplays being most players are mature enough to understand this but I feel its still necessary to mention this just in case.

On the subject of explicit content i.e. swearing, gore, Intercourse etc this is going to be kept at a PG-13 level, all scenes involving sex or otherwise must fade to black or be taken to PM. I allow swearing, in fact I swear too much as it is, however do not take it for granted, do not cuss every other word, use it in good taste instead of necessity. As for gore and blood there will be plenty but don't go into so much detail that someone reads it and develops mental scars.

Involving grammar I am not going to be extremely strict on this, firstly because I am not a grammar god, my posts will not be filled with perfected grammar. If grammar mistakes bother you then this may not be the roleplay for you, my rule in this respect is as long as I an others can read your post without having to go back several times to reread and understand then your good to go. All I ask is that you give it your best nothing more.

For your posts I am expecting everyone to be all to at least be able to write more then four paragraphs, I am about story as much as character development and game environment. This is not just about killing and guns, this is a serious story and I would like it to be treated as such, give me details, tell me what your feeling, get angry if your friend dies, don't be an emotionless rock. Keep it realistic as possible within the boundaries set by me. If it seems over the top when your writing it then most likely it is and you should revise.

Everyone contributes to the story, this is not a one man or woman thing this is for everyone. I encourage you to a front row seat and become part of this story and not just someone who follows behind others. As I know there are most times shaky subjects when it comes to this, should I do this or am I allowed to do that? If these concerns ever arise then don't be afraid to PM me or contact me in this thread with a question. It is no big thing for me give you what you need to implement yourself in this story.

There will be absolutely no god modding of any kind, I don't want to see it, I will kick you out fast and that is a promise. If that character belongs to someone else, then you are not allowed to hurt them, kill them, move them or otherwise unless given permission by the owner of said character. On the same note I do not want to see Mary or Gary Janes in this thread, I DON'T want to see a love letter from yourself to yourself. This roleplay as stated is not about one person but all of us. Be original, be creative and most of all be human, there is no superman in this roleplay.

Be smart with your actions, while it is not my desire to have characters killed in this roleplay I will do so if my hand is forced. No one and I mean no one is just going to walk up to a Strogg like the Makron for example and fight it in hand to hand combat, if you did then you would die, thats just how it is. In that same spirit if your insistent on doing impossible feats, or walking into dangerous situations like they are a walk in the park then your character will suffer consequences or worse death. Actions like this fall under godmodding to me and should be avoided.

My last bit of expectation I have for you is I want you to have fun and enjoy this roleplay. I know this expectations section might be a bit intimidating to some but a lot of it is common sense. I am not strict unless I have to be strict, I would much rather prefer to just not need to enforce any of this. So just use your head, and try your best and never will the Strogg deep inside me come out to take you away.

☣ Stroggification ☣

This section describes the aspect of Stroggification concerning the human variance of this process. As described above the humans recieved information reguarding this technology and were able to duplicate this procedure in such a way that it can enhance a human beyond their normal limits. All human soldiers have been given these basic implants below. Note you do not have to have them it is a choice given to you, it is not forced on you.

Strogg Memory Chip: The Strogg memory chip is basically a small chip that is placed under the skin at the base of the neck. The chip gives the person implanted the ability to not only read Strogg language but also gives them the ability to bypass security which would normally kill a human. This chip also gives a basic knowledge of Strogg machinery and data systems making it for easier access and hacking.

Strogg muscle implant: This implant can be put in the arms and the legs, applied under the skin, this implant gives the user the ability to be faster and stronger very much like the strogg themselves. This allows the human implanted to lift five times their normal abilities and run up to at least ten to fifteen MPH and jump five times higher then usual.

More to be added in time

☣ Places of Interest ☣

Grant stood like a atill statue with his arms crossed in the corner of the Isla Delmaro Headquarters as the conference with the potential buyers was underway. The forty six year old man was still trying to figure out how video conferences were preferable to actual face to face conversation. Time was harsh on the man who stood in that corner silently, he had been raised in an older world where technology like this was not a thing, back in his day and firm handshake was sort of a big deal to people, although it was ironic that he was more mystified at communication devices then he was knowing the island he was on was filled with hybrid dinosaurs. Quite honestly that fact was the least of his thoughts at that moment, everyone knew about Jurassic World and the creation of extincted animals, and well if you were privy to other information you would also know of the first attempt at opening a dinosaur theme park, the original Jurassic Park as it was called. Truthfully extinct animals brought back to life had in the recent years become nothing more then old news. However Grant did not have time to think ponder life's advancements in technology, his job at the moment was to ensure that things went smoothly at this conference. This was very important to the future of Ingen and Grant knew that well.

Unlike most of the parks security Grant was offered more information pertaining to what was going on with Isla Delmaro, part of his deal for coming to this island was full disclosure of what was happening on the island. Grant was a methodical entity, a knowledge first kind of person. He did not like walking into something an not knowing the specifics, and Ingen seemed dead set on making him the Chief of Security here so it was a small price to pay to get him out of seclusion. As it turned out the whole reason Ingen wanted him in the first place was because an old friend of his fathers had told them about his experience in the military. It seemed that his fathers last act before passing away was to contact and old friend in the military to find him a place after his recovery. But due to the death of Grants Family which drove him into seclusion the man was never really able to offer Grant a position, but his families ties ran deep with the military and they respected his father and his sacrifices so that same man took it upon himself to locate Grant and send Ingen to recruit him. Later on as Grant was told more, he came to realize the man whom had found him was also part of the same program that was now watching the presentation before him.

This deal with Ingen was very important to the US Military, and they endorsed Grant so highly because they wanted to be sure that the project was not hindered by certain groups who wanted to see Ingen fall after the incident at Jurassic World. Although things had been rather quiet since he was posted here, that however did not mean it would stay that way for long. Grant looked up as Dr.Wu was climbing off the stage as the on watchers clapped for him, the man had a way with words he would give him that. Grant didn't mind Wu much as he did other higher ups in the company, the man seemed more down to earth then most of the money hungry executives Grant had to escort around the island from time to time. Not that it took away from the fact that Wu did have a slight air of superiority about him at the same time, but he was the one who made this possible both in Jurassic Park, Jurassic World, and now here on Isla Delmaro so in a way the man did deserve a little right to hold himself in higher regards. But Wu treated Grant and the others respectfully and that was all that really mattered in the end.

Grant watched Wu approach him and listened silently to the man as he spoke. He talked of a silent alarm being triggered in the Stego Hybrid paddock in sector A. He passed it off as probably just being a boar messing with the hybrid but Grant had been around long enough to see that subtle look in Wu's eyes if he was calm on the outside or not.

"I will go take a look ASAP Dr.Wu."

Grant nodded to Wu and turned walking out of the conference room and made his way to the lobby of the H.Q. taking out his radio he pressed down the button and went to speak but then stopped himself. He thought for a couple moments as he released the button, eventually he nodded to himself as if he understood something and pressed the button back down.

"Henderson this is Hotchner over."

"Go for Henderson over."

"I am heading out for a bit report over to the conference area and keep and eye on it, make sure both entrances are secured. Over."

"Copy that I am on my way. Over."

Grant replaced the radio on his belt and silently walked out into the brisk air of the night, walking down the steps of the building he turned sharply and walked a short distance to a garage area on the side of the building. Swiping his keycard, the door gave a click and slowly opened up revealing a small parking structure of security vehicles. Grant hopped in one of the vehicles and motioned for one of the stationed guards within the structure to come over.

"I am heading over to the Stego Paddock in Sector A a silent alarm was tripped there, I need you to assemble a team of yourself and two more men and meet me over there. Do not use the radio's I want this kept silent, I will be approaching the paddock from the south entrance so I want you to take the north entrance if anyone is in there I don't want them getting to far. Also the Stego Hybrid is rather annoy-able so it would be best if we did not disturb it so use the electric vehicles only. Remember no lethal weapons are to be used on hybrids so make sure you pack non lethal weaponry, I do not want mistakes."

The man nodded to Grant, starting up the electric vehicle Grant exited the garage and headed for the southern entrance of the paddock. As Grant drove down the road he pulled the radio from his belt and clicked the button down.

"Roderick, this is Hotchner come back."

"This is Roderick. Over."

"Roderick I need you to switch the patrols, I want them to do patrol pattern Delta Omega tonight, would you inform all guards of duty of the change. Over."

"You got it. Over an out."

Grant set the radio down on the seat as he said good under his breath and put his foot to the pedal, he didn't like the look in Henry's eye's tonight, and this being the big night where a deal might possibly be made... there was no room for error.
Jack backed away as Maria came to she must have taken a pretty hard blow, Jack didn't know what though as the hangar of the ship was a pretty big mess now and the adrenaline was pumping from earlier. Maria asked him a rather loaded question as he tried to piece together what had happened himself. They had dropped out of the clouds on Mars and were heading down the landing path, and suddenly some projectile Jack had never seen before was already flying towards them. It was green, he had not gotten the best of looks at it really but from the small glance he had of it the shot looked like something that would come out of a plasma gun. As that did not make sense, the second shot came out of nowhere as well, but the second projectile something else entirely. Jack tried to put it together in his mind as he thought about the attack, he felt a terrible nagging in his mind, like there was something he was forgetting and needed to remember. But what the hell was it? What couldn't he remember about the second projectile, Jack visualized it in his mind, saw himself swing the ship upside down to avoid the hit, and in that brief moment when he was bringing the ship back around to stabilize it for the lands he looked at the monitors to observe the second projectile to identify it... Jack opened his eye's as they were wide, it couldn't have been... there was no way... if it was then... Jack looked at the co pilot and Maria as he barked out a command.

"We gotta go, we gotta get out of this ship right now!"

Jack spoke in a panic as he quickly ran to the cargo door of the ship and broke the glass over the emergency release and dropped the cargo hatch down to the pad below. Jack quickly ran back and grabbed the black weapons case that was not wedged btween the seats and quickly grabbed Maria.

"We gotta go now! Hurry move! Co Pilot grab those items strapped to the vehicle and move out now!"

Jack forcefully pulled Maria along not giving her a chance to question the reason why, getting outside the ship Jack looked up as he heard a loud shrill like whistle from somewhere above. Jack quickly speed up and gripped Maria harder as the Co-pilot came scrambling out of the ship with Maria's belongings that were left on board. He stopped at the edge of the ship as he spoke:

"Commander what is going on?"

"Get away from the ship now damn it!!!!"

It was too late however even when the Co-pilot tried to move away, the second projectile came raining down from the landing tunnel, the same missile from earlier which Jack had finally remember was following, a damn guided missile. The missile hit the ship head on as there was an explosion that echoed throughout the entire landing bay, Jack felt himself lift off his feet from the force of the explosion and land backwards on the metal catwalk as Maria flew on top of him knocking the breath out of him before sliding sideways. The Co-Pilot flew forward from the explosion, hitting the near by railing Maria's belongings dropped to the edge of the landing pad as the pilot fell over the rail and disappeared into the huge dark expansion below. Jack coughed hard as he slowly leaned up, the ship in front of them was now in flames and even more so in pieces, that missile had torn the ship in half, he had never seen such a strong and well guided missile in his whole life. Jack got to his feet as he felt a little woozy, feeling the back of his head he brought his fingers forward, they were dipped in fresh blood as he suddenly became dizzy and fell sideways, gripping the railing of the catwalk Jacks feet crumbled beneath him as he looked upon the ruined ship.

"Them bastards... it was a god damn trap... they could have taken us out in the air but instead they let us land to make us think we had made it, then that damn missile would snuff us out unknown to us.

Jack gritted his teeth as the realization was setting in, they were now trapped here above everything else. Jack fell down to his ass and leaned his back against the railing and his chest heaved in and out, closing his eye's he tried to catch his breath and keep conscious.

"Maria are you okay? Tell me your okay!"

Jack almost yelled the last part as he felt a mild panic setting in, please tell him that at least Maria had made it... Jack rubbed his eye's as his body fell sideways and the inky blackness took hold of him.
Jack looked at Maria and saw the curious look in her eye's about the black weapon cases he carried with him. Jack silently motioned towards the seat for Maria to sit if she wanted as he pulled the longer black case from between the seats and his feet and layed it on the panel from earlier. She could probably use a distraction now, if anything for a couple moments as they reached nearer to Mars. Jack silently typed into the small key pad on the case, with a click the latches unlocked and he popped them up and opened the case revealing the same low green glow from earlier. Pulling out the weapon he showed it too Maria:

"This is the Zenith XLT-100, it is the newest edition in the Plasma series from UAC Weapons lab. The weapon itself was a dream because Plasma is such a hard entity to work with when it comes to weapons. The BFG or Bio-Force-Gun was the first Plasma weapon to ever be created. I am sure you saw one before, it is a huge weapon that fit over most of your arm. The trigger was a mechanism within the gun itself, back then plasma cells were a newer type of discovery and they could only be formed in large cubes because compressing Plasma was dangerous work and thought to be impossible. But a man by the name of James Rickman made compressed Plasma cells possible, or in other words more shots per cell but in a smaller more compact size."

Jack clicked the lever on the weapon and opened the chamber housing the compressed cell and showed it to Maria it glowed intensely green like a flickering bulb. Closing the weapon he silently leaned over putting the scope over her eye and pointed it towards the cockpit she would see the infrared signatures of the pilots.

"This gun is usually a lot smaller but as part of my agreement to come on this assignment I specifically requested one of these newer Plasma weapons, with an infrared scope and auto locking technology. This one also comes with a secondary firing chamber that houses a weak yet effective plasma grenade and a tactical rail and flashlight. It has two firing methods semi auto to burst mode. Burst mode was the main firing mode for the original BFG model, it was basically a charged up shot that dealt tons of damage to enemy or anyone nearby. Which is why now Plasma weapons such as this come with automated locking mechanisms so that you can target specific enemies and the splash damage is minimal so you don't harm nearby civilians. Once upon a time using Plasma was a dangerous game, if you didn't use the gun properly while charging your shot, the cell could explode and take you with it, now and days we have come a long way with plasma engineering."

Jack placed the weapon back in its case and closed it, slipping it back between his feet he reached sideways and grabbed one of the weapons from his holster there was an electric beep as he removed it and showed it to Marie.

"This is the BFG XLS-150, one of the newest of the BFG Small arms series. Its a weapon powered by the same compressed small plasma cell like you saw in the Zenith XL, and features the same small display for ammo count and also comes equipped with a small targeting HUD for target locking. This gun has three main functions, the first function is semi automatic fire like any pistol would have, the second function is fully automatic fire a rather new fire mode for this series and the third mode... the third mode is detonation mode. This gun also doubles as a rather devastating grenade, sort of like a last way out type of thing. I told you of cell compression for the plasma, well the cells are smaller and more stable now but they are also still very explosive at the same time, back in the time of the first BFG a cell explosion was deadly but the range was short, these cells exploding could pretty much take out the entire ship were sitting in right now. Don't worry the detonation mode can not be activated by some accidental trigger, it can only be activated by a series of specific clicks involving a small dial that is located with the gun near the rear guard rail. The holsters im wearing were specifically created for this gun, once in the holster the cell inside is nullified by a small energy field to avoid accidental discharge. You don't want to accidentally fire this gun on yourself, it could very well be the last thing you ever do."

Jack replaced the pistol in its holster with another electronic beep, he silently caught Maria's eye,s cold steel like glaze meeting hers.

"Your next logical question would be to ask me why I am so heavily armed I am sure. I'm not going to lie to you, I have been a soldier most of my natural life, I have seen many different kinds of situations in my time soldering. An this situation gives me a bad taste in my mouth, makes my stomach hurt, and that is usually a sign that there is more going on then information is allowing. But with that said I want you to realize that I am here to protect not only you but as a soldier anyone who is endangered and that includes your sister. I promise you as long as I breath I will keep you safe, so try not to worry so much, I am the best at what I do."

Jack gave a small but innocent reassuring smile as the speakers came to life and the pilot spoke to the cargo area:

"Commander Sir we have a small issue here could you please come to the cockpit?"

Jack gave a puzzled look as he nodded to Maria as climbed up through the space and came into the small cockpit, in front of them Mars was already blocking out space.

"Whats the issue?"

"I don't know sir, I am trying to contact Mars Landing tower but no one is answering. This is not something that has ever happened as long as iv transported back and forth between Earth and Mars."

Jack cocked his head silently, that was not normal, protocol was very strict when it came to landing on Mars, especially within the complex because a direct flight path was needed to safely traverse the facility after the atmosphere burn. Jack reached forward and grabbed one of the small headsets and place it on his head.

"Mars Control this is Commander Jack Preacher do you read me over?"

Jack heard nothing but dead air as there was no response.

"Mars Landing control this is Commander Jack Preacher we are approaching atmosphere level of Mars we need signal for proper landing procedures, please respond over."

There was again dead air as Jack was starting to get a bad feeling about this, taking off the headset they entered the atmosphere of Mars and the heat sheilds activated.

"Sir I do not know what to do here, I do not have landing perimeters I have never done this manually."

Jack looked on as they entered the atmosphere, this was not good there was no turning back now the heat sheilds were not meant for that kind of damage control.

"Move I will take over the landing, I have done a Manuel landing before long ago if the path is the same then I can get us to the hangar."

The man quickly moved as Jack took over the controls, clicking a couple switches they started to descend at a fast speed as they quickly got out of the atmosphere, in the distance the Mars Complex came into view. Jack put the headset back on hoping maybe there had been interference and thats why they couldn't get a transmission.

"Landing control this is Mock V contacting landing Control do you copy?"

Jack again got no answer but suddenly an eery low voice seemed to echo in his ear, it was almost like a hiss:

"Turn back now..."

Jack shook his head as the voice seemed to echo for a second then disappear, had he really heard that or was the dead air playing tricks on him? Didn't matter they had no choice but to land now, Jack clicked the button into the back and spoke:

"Maria this is Jack, buckle in this is going to get a little bumpy over."

Jack clicked down more switches as the ship started to rock, buckling himself in Jack took the control pad as turned the ship sharply he guided the ship into the land pattern hoping to hell it was the same as before. The facility became closer and closer by the second as they picked up speed. As they fulled dipped out of the clouds Jack hit a couple more switches stabilizing the ship.

"What the hell is that Commander!? Look!"

The man pointed quickly as Jack saw an orb of green flying through the air right towards the ship, it was closing distance fast.

"hang on!!!"

Jack clicked a bunch of switches and then drove the controls sideways to the left, the transport jerked violently to the left and did a half barrel roll, the green orb passed by the ship as Jack gritted his teeth and turned the wheel to the right, he brought the ship back and stabilized it just in time to see another mysterious projectile heading for the ship.

"Fuck! Hang on!"

Jack flung the controls to the right the entire transport turned upside down as he rolled out of the way of the projectile, the pilot in the back slammed the wall hard and fell into the cargo area behind unable to keep a grip of anything this time. Jack was upside down as he clicked more switches furiously, gripping the wheel he scream harshly as it resisted like a ten ton weight, the air pressure was staggering outside the ship as he wrenched with all his strength and brought the ship back around and straightened it out. Jack was just barely in time as the hangar was coming into view, he quickly hit switches like crazy as the transport rocked extremely hard many times as he tried to slow the descent. He grabbed the controls and pulled back hoping like hell another projectile wasn't coming.

"Maria hang on tight were coming in!"

Jack almost yelled it into the speakers as he turned down all the switches and they went into a hard nose dive, Jack quickly aligned the landing as the doors were wide open, at the last moment he pulled up on the controls and the ship jerked up hard and straightened as the boosters caught them and they descended into the base. They quickly descended the large entrance tunnel and in mere moments they touched down on the stabilizing pads and the ship came to a rocky but subtle stop. Jack let out a large breath of relief as he realized he had been holding his breath. Slowing releasing the clasps of the belts the co pilot put a hand on his shoulder:

"Holy shit you did it Commander, god damn you can fly."

Jack put his hand on top of the guys and quickly nodded as he got out of the seat and jumped back into the cargo area, hitting the floor was the pilot was near the back of the cargo area and he wasn't moving, Jack headed to him quickly, but upon seeing him there was a large break in his helmet and blood was pooling underneath his head. Jack sighed as he placed a hand on the mans neck, there was no pulse, he was gone. Closing he eye's he then turned and looked for Maria to make sure she was okay.
"I am sorry I did not realize that was your sister, there is a lot of things it seems that is coming into the open right now. First and foremost don't jump to conclusions, people are scared up there for an unknown reason, you know what its like to be on an planet far from home, isolated. Fear can lead to seeing things that may or may not be there even for intelligent respectable people. Maybe this is being blown out of proportion, there are many reasons but no good will come from speculating the worst in it."

Jack got up from the seat and returned to the black case on the floor, sitting in his seat he rested his feet on each side of the case keeping it from moving around. He wished he was that optimistic about his own words, but the truth simply was that he had never seen space sickness to such a degree, that chances were high that something bad was going on up there. But no good would come from him telling Maria her sister might be dead by now. In truth he hoped with all his heart that her sister was safe, knowing where is own sister was now he could understand maybe better then most what the loss would feel like. Jack looked back up at Maria.

"One of the most important aspects of my job is to gather information before going on assignments, this avoids unneeded problems. But sometimes information is unreliable at best and could point to other things. For now lets just get there, once we arrive I am sure we will be meant by the officials of the Mars Complex, after that we can locate a secured computer to lock into. If my friend is correct about the encryption we will have to find a console that is not hooked into the main computer server where the encryption can identify us or watch our keystrokes. Our main priority right now though is to assess the situation on Mars and then report back to the UAC whom will decide what course to take."

Jack listened to Maria and nodded at her when she spoke, she had received the same message he did and gotten just about as much information as he had. Jack sighed heavily as he was realizing that the UAC was most definitely covering their asses like all big time company's do.

"I am afraid its not going to be as simple as you might thing Maria, Yes I did receive that message myself its why they dragged me half way across the world, or so they wanted me to believe that was all. But to be honest me and the UAC don't exactly have even footing with each other so within the couple hours or so before departure I had a friend of mine in the cyber division do a little digging into the UAC's database, specifically into the datanodes on the the Mars Complex. I had him look into, specifically, disturbances and he sent me multiple files if you would please."

Jack raised his arm as he typed into the VDA (Virtual Data Assistant) on his wrist, with a couple clicks on his VDA the center console inside the transport came to life displaying a virtual two way screen. Several files splashed across the screen, Jack went to one in particular named Space Sickness / Reports. Clicking it the files revealed hundreds of different reports ranging from from a couple years ago up until recently, pinpointing the most current reports he extracted about twenty files made within the last two weeks.

"I have already went through most of them, they are all within a two week span, and if you notice there is never one that has a same sender, these are from twenty different people on the complex. Every single report is about a disappearance and then a reappearance, almost every single one details the person in question just... changing for no reason. There is from what I have gathered no direct link between these reports, these were all received from personnel consoles and most were sent with nothing more then an initial or a last name. This one is among the most disturbing, it was sent not two days ago before the current message."

Jack clicked on the virtual screen of his VDA as one of the various files opened, a voice recording box appeared the name above it simply read Smith. Clicking the play button a female voice came on, it seemed hushed and frightened:

"Please you have got to send help... terrible things are happening here, they are are watching, everyone is being watched, they suspect everyone. They have been intercepting reports as they are sent out, every time a report is sent to the UAC Mainframe down on Earth they find out who sent it and then.. that person is the next to disappear. I don't know what to do, its like no one is listening or no one cares what is going on. I risk being next by sending this but.. they have my best friend, she tried to send a mayday but they caught her.. I don't know to do... *audible sniffles* please just send help, anyone.. I don't want to die or become what these people are becoming.. Please..."

The transmission ended as Jack closed out the screen, clicking on his VDA all twenty files opened one by one, looking at Maria he spoke:

"I can not be sure they are aware or not but these messages were never sent to Earth, they were intercepted before they could be fully transmitted from the central hub on Mars. My friend in the Cyber Division told me specifically that an encryption was set up to catch all outgoing messages private or not. The terminal it was sent from was then tracked by the same console, so in laymen terms it was a virtual trap to catch anyone who might send out distress messages. Not one got out except for the last one, the message that was actually received was sent from and old communications building outside of the main complex, it has its own relay so it was not connected to the main console like the others. Whoever sent it must have known about the encryption and resorted to it as a last ditch effort."

Jack clicked more on his VDA and pulled up a list of names and alias's from the distress messages and put them on the screen.

"These are so far all the names of people who have sent distress messages, most of them are just letters I am sure they thought they might be identified by their name if not something else. The only names recorded that I believe are genuine or Smith, Henderson, and Young. They are common names first and last on Mars so the risk of being identified would be minimal."

Jack clicked on his VDA once more as the screen disappeared as did the center console screen, he looked at Maria with a pretty mystified look on his face.

"Maria I don't know whats happening on Mars and I am not sure who is in on what is happening, but I can assure you that your not merely going to Mars to fix things. If this were so simple then calling me in would have been a useless gesture. Any man in the military could pull off faking a UAC Commander or accomplish this operation within the set parameters and that person would probably have more love for the UAC then I do, but instead they called me in, an infiltration specialist who hates the UAC. Which leads me to believe that they know more then they are saying, they were quite eager to accommodate my weapon requests which is also to me a red flag."

Jack got up and took a seat beside Maria.

"So I have to ask, did they tell you anything that I am not supposed to know? Maybe a secret assignment of sorts, information that is privileged. If they did I need to know because I don't have any idea what we are walking into, but I know this it does not seem as if its anything good."

Jack looked up silently as his partner to Mars entered the transport, with a small smile and a nod she silently sat down and secured her things strapping herself in. Jack nodded back with a similar small smile as the first of their meetings ended up being nothing more then facial gestures between stranger. Jack didn't bother to strap himself in as the engines roared to life on the Genesis Mock V transport. Looking over the Executive from before climbed onto the transport and looked at them both with that same taunting smile.

"Good luck to you both, Mrs. Smith we will be awaiting reports and Mr. Preacher we will prepared to send word to San Cantos the moment that you complete your assignment. Until then we can keep an eye out on your..."

Jack lifted himself from the seat as he glared at the Executive and put his hand on one of the pistols in his holster, daring the man to finish that sentence and let the world know about his sister. The Executive just smiled and laughed it off like it was a joke between friends, Jack wanted to just punch that dude in the mouth, just one solid punch to wreck that smile he had come to know all to well in his life. The man boarded off the transport as the cargo bay door shut closed, Jack sat back down as he looked across at the woman sitting with him.

"Just and inside joke, don't worry nothing serious."

Jack played it off as he gave a half ass chuckled, the transport began gaining speed as the bay become slightly heavy from the shift in momentum, soon the entire transport went vertical and gained speed, Jack gripped onto the shotgun case and also onto the grips on the sides of the seats.

"Entering the atmosphere now small heat burn, might feel some heat"

The voice played over the cargo area as for a couple moments the heat level raised through the outer heat shields, but it did not last long as it suddenly became chilly within the cargo bay, they were officially on their way. Jack released the shotgun case as the transport became stable as they entered deeper into space. Looking up at the woman across from him he spoke:

"My name is Jack Preacher I am a Colonel in the United States Marines, for this operation I will be taking the rank and position of a UAC Security Commander. I hate to be so brutally forward as it is rude, but we will be arriving at Mars within an hour or two depending, so we need to get on the same page as each other so were in sync when we arrive. What have you been told already? Knowing the UAC they love to dispense as little information as humanly possible."
