So, just waiting on Kali and Cath then, plus whatever BB can pull together for that collab. Been away for a couple days so I'm just taking stock, seeing where everybody's at.
Gonna be pretty busy this month moving across the country, just so folks know. Would have brought it up sooner but plans only really solidified a few days ago. That said, I want to sit down and give my post the respect and time it deserves, and I also wanna spend a bit chewing on that prologue you wrote, Genkai-sama. It's super interesting to me that you're writing the story out for class, so I wanna see how you've laid it out when it's just you writing it, since that changes a lot of things.
All that said, my point is that I might not have a post up in just a day or two like I'd like to. I'm GMing my own RP as well, so that fills in some small gaps in my free time. But I will have something within a few days-ish. Odds are one night I'll just spend a few sleepless hours hammering something out, if I know myself.
So yeah. TL;DR, moving in the beginning of august (will let you guys know the exact date because I might not have 'net for a week or so when I actually move into the new place.) Shouldn't affect my schedule in the overall scheme of the RP, but for this week I might be a bit scarce. Expect a post before too long either way.
Had to rewrite the whole thing and I'm still unhappy with the length of it, but I didn't wanna strain that post any longer than I did. I promise it's not indicative of what most of my posts will be, I'm mostly just waiting to get out into the world, so to speak, so this short reaction post is just a step-stone for now. Evie's making new friends~
Evie nodded firmly to herself as she heard her name. She was decidedly trying not to look at the other folks coming in. If she looked at them, she'd have to make an introduction, and it wasn't time for that yet. Once everybody was settled and their business was concluded, she could make her grand entrance. Still, she took a note of all of their names, mentally storing that info away for later. Likewise, as the professors came out, she locked their names away as well. As everybody had been led into the lab, Evie tried not to let herself get caught up in the moment, seeing all of the lab techs working hard, and all of the cool stuff happening around them. It was the time to focus.
The girl she'd noticed before was led away by one of the professors, to pick up a pokemon, apparently, while the rest of the group received a bit of an explanation on the lab and other info. Soon enough, however, it was Pokedex time. The time she'd been waiting for. As she grabbed her device off of the tray, Evie couldn't help but feel a sense of expectation, and excitement. It was time to break free of her slummy lifestyle and onto something greater. It was time for Sengun to rock to her beat! She cracked a grin, resisting the urge to fall too deeply into her own daydreams. She had to listen intently so she would know where to go. North east through a forest, or so it seemed to be. She was excited about the possibility of encountering a new pokemon she'd never seen before, and of course, there was a list of familiar pokemon in her head that she wouldn't mind running across on her journey as well. Her first challenge target was Kelsea, who used... some kind of pokemon, she didn't remember. Tch. Well, I'll figure it out along the way. Maybe I could weasel it out of one of these other guys.
Evie was busy thinking about how to get the answer she was looking for, so she was startled out of her thoughts when the professors asked the group for any last-minute questions. Of course there was one burning a hole through her brain, but it wasn't the right time dammit. Rather than look stupid asking what was probably an obvious question, she'd proceed as planned and knock it out of somebody later, quietly.
"Nope, no questions here, boss. Ready to rock out whenever everybody else is. I hope we get to tag along together for some time. Loners are so yesterday, right Shinzo?" She tossed a friendly punch to the shoulder of the quiet boy nearby, who had been bowing to everybody and everything since he got here. In truth, she only picked him because he was close and it seemed like he was the type to just stand there and take it. It was a rhetorical question, after all. Still, if picking on a younger guy was how she'd be spending the first leg of her long journey, things could be a lot worse. Heck, if he stayed quiet here, he'd be prime material to squeeze her answers from later on. The others... Well, she'd be able to judge them more clearly seeing their actions here.
Shit, sorry guys. I wrote up a bit of a post while my stomach was hurting last time I posted, and saved it in notepad. I think for some reason, my brain decided that I posted it here when I actually didn't, so I thought I was just waiting and forgot about it. I'll get it up tonight, sorry again if I've caused any delays.
In favour of getting a post up sooner rather than later, I let it run a bit short. Here's the OOC info you might be interested in for now.
If anybody attempts to call Zelda back, the line will have been disconnected. The Comm is powered down. Terminal, if you want to plant any sort of bug or do anything to her Commlink, and you can do it during the call, before she powers it down, you won't find any resistance. It's just an off the shelf make with the GPS removed, no security protocols besides the standard ones you'd find anywhere. I'm looking to more or less conclude the majority of planning in one round if possible so we can get a move on into the job itself. If anyone has any back-and-forth you'd like to engage in, I'd encourage you to try and work it out beforehand, either in a collab, or just OOC before making a post IC. After that's done, we'll timeskip a few hours to sundown and teleport to the group of warehouses so we can get started. Anybody who has any info for the in between period an fit it either onto the end of this round's post or the beginning of the next round, up to them, I just don't want to spend that much time on the minutia before we've even done one job.
Lastly, for Terminal again, I appreciate the flash and pizzazz with which you've hacked Zelda's Comm, but in the future, with things that have a bit more heft, I'd like to ask you to PM me with what you're going to do so I can tell you what you'll be up against, and I can tell you what you might return for all your efforts, so we don't end up with a disappointing conclusion. I don't wanna just turn this into the pen and paper game, and I want to leave the majority of it in your hands as the only script junkie in the group, but certain systems might be more or less protected than you'd expect, or you might come across some unexpected intel somewhere, so just drop me a quick PM when you're gonna delve into anything in particular and I'll let you know any details I have for you. Everything else is free for you to construct.
Comm status: Make/Model: Sony Emperor (off the shelf model) Registered Owner: Ms. Zelda Johnson Stored Owner Info: SIN: None registered (Sony Bypass Exception Code: 4452 - Contact Sony for more details) Other info: None submitted Current Location: New Orleans, Louisiana, CAS (GPS co-ordinates unavailable, feature not installed) PAN connections: None present WAN connections: None Grid connections: Public (unsecured)
Hits returned for commcode: 2 found Commlink purchased Yesterday, 11:35 AM 1 Call sent out (Multicall): 5 minutes ago, 11:02 AM, call still running
Result of triangulation and probing attempts, general info: (The call seems to have been sent from the opposite end of town, from a public connection. This commlink seems to have never been connected to any private network whatsoever. This is a common trick used by experienced fixers and Johnsons with money to spare. Odds are this comm was bought through certain corporate connections to have the GPS features removed, and will be disposed of either after this call is concluded, or after payment is delivered for the run. You could easily plant a tracking bug, datamining protocol, or similar program within the device if you wanted, but it doesn't appear to be worth the effort.)
Recluse rolled his eyes behind his goggles at Kali's entrance. It wasn't worth the air in his lungs to respond. This sort of thing was common, and it didn't seem to matter what he said in response. Seemed like she had armloads of food with her, but he knew better than to assume she'd brought anything for the team, and he wasn't ever hungry enough to try and risk stealing any for himself. Kali burned calories as fast as she sucked oxygen, and Recluse was the exact opposite, like some kind of camel, he could get away with eating twice a week, and it'd fuel him the whole time if he was on a job or at home.
Everybody filtered in slowly, and reactions seemed to be reticent at best, with the exception of Cath. That was fine. Everybody had their own business this week, there was no reason to believe that everyone would suddenly be excited about this... odd job. The lady at the other end of the call seemed to understand this as well, as she waited patiently for responses to filter in. She thought for a moment about Cath's particular question, which seemed to be the only one forthcoming, at least vocally. Recluse decided that this was the time to speak up for once. Unfortunately, it was a question he needed to ask before almost every job.
"...You need this job done quiet? What would you say about a risk of... explosions? Hypothetically."
Their new employer was fairly quick to respond. It seemed like she was anxious, or just in a hurry. "Ent got noooooo problem if ya wanna end with some big kaboom. Ent mi warehouses, yeah? An ya dunna got connections to me. Not yet. Mi pay ya at de end regardless. But mebbe ya get not so many jobs from us if ya blow em all up, yeah?"
That out of the way, she turned her attention towards Cath's question. "Mi feel ya tryin' to make fun o' me or flatter me, miss. But mi give ya pass since mi like ya, hmm? As for ya question... dis only suspicion, personal, yeah? Not representative of reality or mi client, yeah? But word is dere be some kinda crazy astral at play. Some crazy wicked juju attached to dem CDs. I dunna who might want sometin like dat, but mi client do, and it's good enough for mi."
Without any time for further questions, the call suddenly cut off on the other end. Either the connection dropped on the other end, or she had hung up. It was probably safe to assume the latter was true. Their business had been concluded, and it didn't seem like she was going to answer any further questions, even if any were forthcoming. Which left the group alone to their planning, save for one final text message that came through their comms. "Mi send all further contact through either the elf or the sniper. No reason in particular. Have fun boys and girls! -Z" Recluse sighed heavily. What a pain in the ass... Maybe he'd just foist the job off on Cath in full, if he could. Seemed like he got picked at random, which was drek in the first place.
"Well, talking points, fellas. Three goals. Find out which warehouse houses our goods, then we have to get the stuff and be able to transport it to the van. Then fudge the numbers, right? As far as I'm concerned... I'm probably not the man to deal with the numbers. Once we find out where we're going, I'll cover our retreat, same as usual. Y'all know how to reach me if you need a hand carrying stuff, but otherwise, I'll be making sure nobody gets in or out once we start."
Extremely well expressed, Terminal. But I fear you might have thought too many steps ahead of yourself. You've set yourself up for a big payoff, but I hope you're also prepared for potentially disappointing results. I suppose we'll see how it goes in the next post, which will be up within a day or so.
Old and beaten hat, don't take anything I say to heart because it only rarely comes from my own. Been waving around this RP stick for 12+ years, and if there's one thing I've learned it's that keeping things interesting is top dog. I'll take a character who is interesting and challenging for both me and the plot over the same group of misfit archetypes any day of the week. Plots follow the same rules. Unless it breaks the mold somehow, I'm just not that into it.
