Game Turn: Two
Operation: Swooping Crane

Conflict: The Township Proxy War

Location: Washington State Border (South).

Combatants: Yakima Republic vs Township of New Dalles

Back Story: The Township of New Dalles has rallied against the Republic's attempts to annex the Washington-Oregon border, and is mustering a response to the 1st Mechanized Infantry Battalion's lightning advance.

Farmers and brahmin herders they may be, but for such a small and disjointed community, the Township of New Dalles is wealthy. Mercenaries have been hired in droves, and their NCR-equse equipment is more than suspicious. The Yakima Republic fears that the simple attempt at annexation will result in a proxy war between itself and the NCR, and seeing men clothed in New California battle dress is an unsettling development.

It could well be that any future conflict between the YR and the NCR will be decided here and now, at the state border. With this in mind, the President has sanctioned the use of Special Operations Command in bringing the Township War to its speedy conclusion.

Operations Map

Missions:

Refer to Operations Map for corresponding mission numbers.

Mission #1

Republican Armies Involved: 1st Mechanized Infantry Battalion

Mission Objective: It's now or never, Lieutenant Colonel. The NCR has a hand in this, even though we can't prove it. They're either testing us, or weakening us - either way, we're in a bad position.

This is why I'm ordering you to knock that airport from the Township's hands. I don't care what they have stationed there, or how many. Kill them all, and take no quarter. We're at war, and until the Commonwealth is subdued, you're the only man who can stop the NCR from taking liberties on the extremities of our borders.

I am asking much from you, Lieutenant Colonel, this much I know. But I have, we have, fought hard for our Republic's existence, and so it seems, we must contiue to fight just as hard.

Take that airport, Lieutenant Colonel, and destroy everything in your path.

- President Gordon Clearwater, Presidential Communication, January 7th 2282.

Enemy Strength:

The airport's garrison has recieved a significant boost in troop and weapons strength since the previous week, and intel reports they have a stock of rocket launchers and anti-tank rifles. How many, we are unsure, but do not fret. From what we can tell, these troops are militia-grade, and are not the NCR-mercenaries we have been hearing of lately. Proceed with caution, and cover the advance of your armour.

A few platoons have crossed the bridge to bolster the defences, and if we had to guess, the total troop strength you're facing ranges in the hundreds. Their equipment is a mish-mash of shotguns, hunting rifles, rocket launchers and a few machineguns.

Mission #2

Republican Armies Involved: 8th Underground and Recon Division

Mission Objective: The Township's forces are facing northwards, towards the airport and the 1st Mechanised's advance. This display of total ignorance and lack of battlefield understanding thankfully underlines the fact that the NCR are not formally engaging us. The farmers are still in charge, albeit with some extra muscle.

We'll take this opportunity to destroy the Township's forces, and wrestle New Dalles from their hands.

Cross the bridge, at night, and destroy any sentries or static guard units overseeing its defence. Do it quietly, if possible, as stealth here is essential.

Proceed west, towards New Dalles. You are to assault the town before dawn break, and on the same day that you cross the river, to achieve the maximum element of surprise possible.

Ideally, we need the Township's forces driven from the town, but just doing them a chunk of damage will do just nicely. Either way, we need to ensure the airport does not come under any immediate counter attack.

Conquer or sabotage. This is your mission.

Additionally, those resources you were able to evacuate from Vault 59 have enabled us to begin mass-production of the .22. Silenced SMG. Though a crude contraption, it's silent and fast firing. Take as many as you need, but ensure they are used wisely. Materials and specialists used in their creation are a scarce resource, and losing them may not result in replacements.

Enemy Strength:

The Township is not expecting a direct attack against New Dalles, and her forces are facing northwards. However, there is a platoon strength unit of what appears to be NCR troopers, though they lack the NCR insignia. We're expecting these mercenaries to be special forces grade soldiers, but we are unable to confirm this theory.

The town's eastern bounds will be lightly patrolled, unless you fail to storm the bridge quietly. Should you gain access to the town, then the NCR mercs and bands of rag-tag militia are likely to confront you. We do not believe the town's populace to be militant, and they should give you no problems. If they do, then you have the green light to engage every last man, woman and child that attempts to thwart your mission.

Sounds like you need some sexy, stealthy, mutant sabotage.

I was going to send them to stand in for the BoS and Enclave absentees over at Mt. Rainier, but that southern border is pretty important.

Let's go get some sabotaging done.

Orders inbound.
In Is RPGuild dying? 10 yrs ago Forum: News
I'm an RPer.

I need somewhere to type.

The Guild, though limited, does the job fine for me. My Rps don't need any flashing lights or super sized fonts. Nor does the community.

I understand a lot of peoples' aggro towards how things are going, but for myself, what I have here is more than enough for me to thrive. I looked at Iwaku, and I don't know, maybe I'm too old for this gig, but it mind f**ked me the moment I looked at it.

Unless people are telling me the lack of font sizes and styles are killing creativity and their passion to write, I see no problem with the Guild in its current form.

Still, I uphold everyone's right to have their opinion on matters.

Now excuse me whilst I tend to my flock with nowt but bold, italics and underlining.

As above. No gunpowder or magic, nor flying (sorry). The era is 'Middle Ages' - basically, late Roman to Crusades.

I thought about Gombas using some kind of smoke bomb, but then decided against it. A fifty foot drop and a mortal wound seemed more poetic, and more true to the RP's technology.

In my next post, you'll finally get your audience with the King of Adjutor Insula.
Adjutor Insula

The Templar, Part 2

"Thank you for seeing me, Lady Aticus," Templar Gombas said warmly, and with his semi-toothed smile. "I know these are hectic times, to say the least."

Gombas had found himself seated in a plush cushioned chair, situated on one of the Lord Defender's home's many balconies. He peered across at the ruins of Love, still smouldering from the raid more than a week ago, and it pained his heart to imagine such anguish afoot. In an attempt to refocus himself to the matter at hand, he switched his gaze to the "King's" queen apparant.

Though what he found there, was equally troubling. She wore a thick purple shroud, covering her face, though the rest of her dress was what one would expect. Still, the shroud? It was not custom for women to hide their faces, even in times of mourning. Faranism had always preached equality among the sexes, though sometimes the God King's holy visions had fallen short of their aims. Not that it was ever the God King's fault, but that of his followers, whom sometimes mired in the backwards ways of the world. Still, Adjutor Insula was a global leader in such matters regardless, and Lady Aticus was not known as particualy shy, or concious of her image.

"The pleasure is all mine," she said at last. Something in her voice was off, as if his presence was testing her patience. "How can I help you, Lord Templar?"

Gombas smiled again, trying his kindly charms to their fullest. He took a few seconds to glance around the balcony, and noted how austere everything seemed. It was true that the monks of Adjutor mimicked the poor of the world as best they could, but other Order branches, such as the Sighing Hand, had free reign over the finer things of life. No art work lined the walls, no vases the balcony's entrance. Just bland white stone, gleaming slightly in the sun.

"I am concerned," his tongue soured quickly, "over the well being of our King. I've come to enquire about his happenings of late."

Lady Aticus did not stir, though Gombas felt her eyes searing through him. Searing with what though? Anger?

Gombas cleared his throat, and approached from another angle. "The Crown he now wears carries a great deal of responsibility. He leads our nation into its first war in centuries, and I feel Faran-bound to ensure he is of... right mind. Not that I wish to assume the opposite of course, but he does seem... emotional?"

"He's fine," she snapped, suddenly. She went to rise from her chair, but an invisible hand stole the strength from her dress-clad legs, and she fell back into it with a moan.

The Templar took the oppurtunity to play the concerned neighbour, and moved over to help her. "My lady, are you alright?"

"Yes," she said, struggling for a second time to stand. Two ladies-in-waiting materalised from inside the building, possibly after hearing their charge's moan, and held either arm. "I'm just a little unwell. Arthritis, the doctors tell me."

Gombas raised an eye. "Lock-joint? But my lady, you are far too young for such an affliction. Come, let me have a look at you. Lock-joint is just one of my fields of experience."

As the Templar went to seat Lady Aticus back into her chair, an Order Guard, all plate and grime, stumbled through the balcony doorway. Alcohol ran rich through his breath, and upon seeing the Templar, he sneered. "Get the fuck out of here, you old pervert!"

Gombas was a man of compassion, a saver of lives, and possessed endless patience. It was with these qualities in mind, that the Templar grabbed the Order Guard by his shoulder straps, and slammed him into a decorative stone pillar. "You're ill, my friend, take a rest will you?" The Order Guard slid down the pillar, and slumped lifelessly on the tiled flooring.

Lady Aticus did not stir, but her ladies-in-waiting made to leave. Gombas did not stop them. If they wanted to alert the guard's comrades, then let them. He answered to a high power - himself.

"My lady, why are you shrouded?" Gombas asked, edging towards the balcony to see what his men were up to. His eyes found them standing rigidly to attention around his carriage, as two Order Guards berrated them with some nonsense.

"To hide my shame, Lord Templar," Lady Aticus replied suddenly.

Gombas turned from the balcony, and walked over to her. Taking a knee, he held one of her soft porcelain palms in his wrinkled, leathery hands. "Shame, my lady?"

Lady Aticus appeared to lose her voice once again, and Gombas felt prompted to push back her shroud. His eyes momentarily widened as they caught the sight of scorched skin, cracked and leaking puss. Eyes, one milky white, one sapphire, looked at him with questionable intent. A large and messy gash decorated what was once one of the finest pair of lips in Adjutor Insula.

"By Faran," Gombas gasped.

He needed not say more, and Lady Aticus needed not reply, though she did. "He said he wanted to make me strong."

Her words trailed into a sigh, as Templar Gombas picked her up in his arms and made for the doorway. A commotion met him on the otherside, as three more of the "King's" suspiciously unprofessional Order Guard met him. "Put her back, Templar, before we gut you," one of them said, pausing to spit black slime onto the floor. "Wont ask twice, we wont."

"Lady Aticus is now in my care. By the Fifth Law of Faran, I am now her guardian. Come at me if you will, I imagine a Templar's murder will earn you all swift justice," he shot back, and made to walk through them, but they drew their swords.

"By King Marcus' first Royal Decree, the Adjutor Order is disbanded, and all able bodied members are to report to the mustering fields, down by the docks," the Order Guard said, removing his winged helm to reveal a face of broken bones and yellow teeth. "By King Marcus' second Royal Decree, all Order members who cannot bear arms, must report to their nearest Agricultural Centre for work orders."

"He's disbanded the Order?" Gombas gasped, but his surprise soon turned to forbidden anger. "I'll neither join his army, nor shall I supply it. Stand aside, I do not recognise your authoritiy. I answer to Faran, and he tells me you are bad men."

The Order Guards looked at each other briefly, and started to laugh. Gombas said a silent prayer, and tried again to move through them. The tip of a short sword found its way into his gut in short order. His eyes bulged as the searing heat of the weapon's edge made for his internal organs. In a blind panic, he stepped back quicker than any old man should, with the Lady still in his arms, and made for the balcony. The Order Guards chased him, but he was already on the banister's edge and looking at the fifty foot drop below him. His guards at the carriage had stopped their quarrel with Marcus' house guards, and looked up at him with a mixture of shock and confusion.

"Hold on tight, my lady," Gombas whisphered into the soft perfumed hair of his charge, and then jumped.

The fall lasted a second, though to him it felt like years, and the entirety of his long mundane life flashed before him. When he hit the bottom, a bolt of lightning shot up his knees, and he collapsed to the floor. Lady Aticus sprawled from his arms, and he rolled to look up at the sun. Pain paralysed him, and his hip told him he'd probably seen his last.

Within seconds, his men had circled him and were busy picking him - and the lady - up and carrying them off to the carriage.

"What was that, Lord Templar?" Asked a young Captain, whose features had aged a decade in the last few seconds.

"We must stop the King, take me to the docks, and ensure the Lady's safety. Take her to the Monastery of Regret, with any man good enough to still serve a holy purpose in this world," Gombas said weakly, trying to fight the pain and keep some length of sanity. "When the island goes dark, the Monastery will be the last to fall."

"I do not understand, Lord Templar," the Captain replied, as he helped load the man into the carriage.

"Much is a mystery in this world of ours, but if you truly love Faran, and all that he has tried to do for humanity, then follow my command to the letter, and stray not into the darkness," Gombas finished, as pain-induced hallucinations of blinding light took him to what might well be his last slumber.

The Captain stared at the Lord Templar for some moments, unsure whether to follow orders that would be considered treason. He did not like the idea of a King, this much was true, but Lord Defender Marcus Aticus had many fine qualities, and Karkarth was on the verge of wiping the Insula off the map. To kidnap the King's wife, and stow her away in the fortress-come monastery of Regret would be the last of him.

"What would Faran do?" The Captain mused, as a dozen Order Guard burst from the Lord Defender's home with swords gleaming.

No problem. I've just given the South-Eastern front its new set of orders.

More orders will follow, after I've worked out where I need to put people.
Game Turn: Two
Operation: End Game

War: Unification War, Late

Location: South-east Yakima County.

Combatants: Yakima Republic vs Badlands Commonwealth

Back Story: The Unification War officially ended two years ago, after Republican forces comprehensively defeated the Badlands Commonwealth at the Battle of New Toppenish. However, whilst the Republic has been licking its wounds and rebuilding its battered military, the Commonwealth has sought to consolidate its surviving territories - all located in the South-east region of Old World Yakima County.

Though militarily defeated, and lacking in both men and material, the Commonwealth's Merchant Parliament is stubbornly refusing to give up the struggle. Four promises of amnesty and peaceful annexation from the YR have been rejected, often with violent outcomes, and with the NCR possibly on the horizon, President Gordon Clearwater has called lights out on any peace agreement. He believes they need to be dealt with now or never, and with all means necessary.

With this in mind, the Republic has mustered four of its standing armies, and dispatched them to the YR/Commonwealth borders to finally end a war was supposed to have ended two years ago.

Starting with the Commonwealth stronghold of Sunnyside, the Republican army will finally begin its push to fully unify all original members of the Yakima Grand Alliance (the Republic's political forerunner) under a single flag.

Operations Map

Missions:

Refer to Operations Map for corresponding mission numbers.

Mission #1

Republican Armies Involved: First Battalion, Rifle Infantry

Mission Objective: The Commonwealth are on the run, and their remaining forces in the area have fallen back to Sunnyside. You are to join the 1st Republic Energy force in destroying whatever remains of their army in the city.

Intel from the observation post to the city's south indicates there is a moderate civilian presence. It seems the Commonwealth are not beyond hiding behind women and children. Kill who you must to complete your goal, but do not actively engage civilian elements with intent to destroy.

Finally, the "7th Freedom Brigade" has surged into the area, apparantly with hopes of evicting us from Sunnyside and its airport. We're planning on the Martin Rangers destroying a portion of the force, and that our guys over at the airport will tie down another, but expect some of them to make it through.

Enemy Strength:

The Commonwealth units in Sunnyside are a defeated force, and in pitiful condition. They have no artillery, and are fighting mostly out of survival, as they fear certain death in the event of surrender. Intel puts their strength anywhere between three and six hundred, but with the civilians in the crossfire, it's been hard to pin down an exact number from the observation post.

The elements of the 7th Freedom Brigade that make it through the rangers, and do not head off towards the airport, will likely be heavily armed and determined. At the outbreak of the Unification War, 10 such brigades existed. The 7th is all that remains of the Commonwealth's professional war machine, barring any nasty surprises further in their territory. Expect them to engage you with established tactics and enthusiasm.

We put the Brigade's strength at a thousand strong, which by far makes them the most combat-effective force we'll likely encounter in Operation End Game. Destroy them, and just maybe, we'll win the war here and now.

Mission #2

Mission #3

Republican Armies Involved: The Martin Rangers

Mission Objective: To intercept and bludgeon the 7th Freedom Brigade's spearhead. Further guerilla action optional. Retreat westerly, if positions are in danger of being overrun.

Enemy Strength:

The 7th Freedom Brigade consists of just over a thousand of the Commonwealth's best. They're experienced, and mostly made up of veterans who have survived the Unification War from its start, to the present day. This means they're less likely to run than those you've encountered this far, and they're well armed. Grenade launchers, assault rifles, submachineguns and some light artillery swells their ranks.

However, they're in a hurry, and have neglected to post scouts around their formation. Ambushing them from the high terrain as they march up Route 82 would almost certainly catch them off guard.

Mission # 4

Republican Armies Involved: 1st Republic Hunters Battalion "Black Death"

Mission Objective: Defend the Sunnyside Airport at all costs.

Enemy Strength:

We're unsure of how much of the enemy will break off from the 7th Freedom Brigade's push into Sunnyside, however we know from intercepted intel that they're planning on evicting you from the airport. They need the supplies, and the ammunition, if they're going to try and lose themselves in an urban war zone.

However, depending on how well the Martin Rangers are able to pull away the Brigade's reserves, we're predicting that at least three hundred of them will be coming your way. They'll likely have the bulk of the Brigade's artillery wing too - nothing too big, mostly light mortars and rocket launchers.
Some really beautiful posts here, by the way. I don't want to name favourites, because you've all have done a really good job. I'm even more thrilled that you guys have grabbed the subject matter by the head and twisted it. Fantastic stuff.

I'm updating the maps, based on player progress. Writing up the next turn too, so we should deffo be good for tomorrow.

The RP is in its early stages, so I'll be lenient to players who are unable to post/couldn't be bothered until now. Absent players, who do not put their hands up and say they wont be around for a bit, will be left out of the next turn phase. A repeat absence without warning will end in disqualification from the RP.

Fuck 'em.

Too right. The meeting was 3 weeks ago, apart from a few scribbled notes and a powerpoint, I cannot for the life of me remember what was said. So, they've gotten a paraphrased, and possibly fantastical version of events. If they give me grief, I'll just say "you get what you paid for." That's the problem with the kind of people I work for, they try to take advantage of my good nature, and when I start saying enough's enough, they start saying crap like "We all have to do work in our own time" and "Is that really the attitude to have in this economical climate?"

They'd have a point, but I work on the factory floor, and they're all salary paid manager-grade types. After hours work is in their job description, not mine. Besides, they're all paid about 10 grand more a year than me, the feckers.

Rant over. I'll start reviewing everyones' posts so I can determine where you're all at.

How are there so many people who have friends that would honeslty confuse roleplaying with Kinky stuff? o.OBasically everyone I explain it to (which is basically everyone) knows better than that... :/

To be fair, when I told my best mate I did some "part time online role playing", he assumed I pretended i was a chick in some seedy chatroom. In fact, if I recall, his exact response was "What the fuck, man?" then I explained to him it was just creative writing lol's with others, and he told me it would be best if I went along with the seedy chatroom image instead. He is a funny man.
