It totally slipped my mind to add a content warning, my bad. I have since added one. If there are any other issues with my character please let me know. As for my Digimon, if it is really necessary I can change my Mega stage. I could go with something like Goldramon, as it still fits the idea I was thinking of. If anything else about my application is of note or concern, again, please let me know.
As the title of this thread states, I really needed to do something with my time while doing the whole staying at home thing. As I had been meaning to get back into online roleplaying for a while, when better to do it than now. Anyways, hope to have some fun here while the world outside is not so fun.
If there is still one entry left I would like to throw my hat into the ring.
EDIT: Content Warning - Religious extremism, cults, and abandonment.
Name: Masato Wilson
Age: 18
Crest: Knowledge
Appearance: Masato is a fairly average looking young man, save maybe his mixed race heritage. He stands at the same height as most other men he crosses in a crowd, but he is slightly thicker than them. Perhaps due to his Western half, Masato’s weight is somewhat heavy and approaching obese. Masato’s face is a combination of both of his parents’ ethnicities, with thin, dark eyes, and a smattering of freckles across his pale face. His hair is a dark black like his mother, and goes down to just past the bottom of his ears. Masato’s attire usually consists dress shirts and pants, mostly in basic colours such as white, black, or grey, and a set of dark dress shoes.
Bio: Victor Wilson had just gotten out of prison when he met Tanaka Hikaru, a Japanese student on vacation in the United States. Victor had found religion while imprisoned and had taken to going to Church. Likewise, Hikaru was searching for enlightenement and was trying many different spiritual beliefs. They both happened to attend the same Church one Sunday morning, forming an immediate connection. After the service they went out on a date. This started a brief love affair until Hikaru had to return to Japan. However, a week after returning home, Hikaru discovered she was pregnant. She immediately contacted Victor, who was confronted with a dilemma about what to do. A chat with a local pastor led Victor to decide to move to Japan as a missionary and help raise his child.
Now together in Japan, Victor and Hikaru quickly got married, moving in together a few months before their son would be born. Named Masato, or Holy Man, Victor declared that he would give his son a proper life, not the terrible one he had. Masato would be raised in various Churches, taught to belief things that were taught and not question. This was not helped as his parents gradually became more radicalized in their beliefs. Eventually, the Wilsons grew tired off the faith they were a part of, and ended up leaving it. Shortly afterwards, they joined an organization called Life’s Light, a rapidly spreading New Age group. This unorthodox belief set led to many in their community in Japan viewing them as outliers or strange. Part of this new belief set was further sheltering Masato, home schooling him and isolating from kids his age. Masato learnt to not question the teachings of the organization and to just accept. Within a few years Life’s Light would grow into a massive global organization.
As Masato became a teenager, his father gained a position of leadership at Life’s Light Japan branch. One of his first actions was to make Masato a more active member of the group, having him become a recruiter for the group. These first interactions with outsiders confused Masato, as they held views that he couldn’t understand. How could they question his core beliefs? It was around this time that the police began investigating Life’s Light, including its leadership. This culminated in the mass arrest of the heads of the Church for financial crimes and various abuses. Victor Wilson would be deemed guilty and sent to jail.
This shocked Masato and his mother, not being able to belief what he was accused of. Initially, both of them supported Victor, visiting him in jail. However, Masato began to see coverage of the crimes on television, and began to question ever so slightly. Eventually, Masato let slip that he questioned his father’s innocence in front of his mother. She was furious, and never seemed to get over it. At age eighteen she asked Masato to move out in two months as he was now an adult.
With no actual skill set, Masato could not seem to find a job. Luckily for him, the owner of the local convenience store gave him a job, even allowing him to rent a room over the shop. After working there for a few weeks, Masato learnt that his mother had left the country after backlash from others in her community over her religious beliefs, becoming a missionary in South America. Masato realized how alone he was now, and how little he knew. All he had was the beliefs of his childhood, beliefs that weren’t holding up in the real world.
