@tobiax Looks like I took a little too long. Some stuff got in the way, so that's on me. But since I was initially planning to try and go for the Crest of Sincerity, and that's all I really had an idea about... Plus, I have no potential ideas for the Crests of Knowledge or Hope... I think I'll bow out. I hope the game goes well though. All the best :D
@Demon Shinobi By all means, submit an idea. It's not first-come-first-serve, it's based on quality. That being said, you could submit a Hope idea if that suits your fancy better.
@Mistress Dizzy Congratulations! Jinayah Takahashi has been accepted! Move her sheet to the Character tab at your earliest convenience. @Double Congratulations! Ando Kougawa has been accepted! You can move the sheet to the Character tab when you are earliest able.
@tobiax My worry was more about trying to get a sheet done in a timely manner, which I was clearly unable to do lol Admittedly, I was a bit disheartened when I saw Double decided to make a character for the Crest of Sincerity, more so following their comment about not being in a mood to compete over a crest.
Overall, I only really had an idea for Sincerity of the crests that were available. I can't think of or draft anything up for hope or knowledge that doesn't feel lackluster or cheesy/weird to an undesirable degree. But seriously, thanks for the consideration. I hope you won't mind if I lurk around a bit and see what happens over the course of the game though :D
If there is still one entry left I would like to throw my hat into the ring.
EDIT: Content Warning - Religious extremism, cults, and abandonment.
Name: Masato Wilson
Age: 18
Crest: Knowledge
Appearance: Masato is a fairly average looking young man, save maybe his mixed race heritage. He stands at the same height as most other men he crosses in a crowd, but he is slightly thicker than them. Perhaps due to his Western half, Masato’s weight is somewhat heavy and approaching obese. Masato’s face is a combination of both of his parents’ ethnicities, with thin, dark eyes, and a smattering of freckles across his pale face. His hair is a dark black like his mother, and goes down to just past the bottom of his ears. Masato’s attire usually consists dress shirts and pants, mostly in basic colours such as white, black, or grey, and a set of dark dress shoes.
Bio: Victor Wilson had just gotten out of prison when he met Tanaka Hikaru, a Japanese student on vacation in the United States. Victor had found religion while imprisoned and had taken to going to Church. Likewise, Hikaru was searching for enlightenement and was trying many different spiritual beliefs. They both happened to attend the same Church one Sunday morning, forming an immediate connection. After the service they went out on a date. This started a brief love affair until Hikaru had to return to Japan. However, a week after returning home, Hikaru discovered she was pregnant. She immediately contacted Victor, who was confronted with a dilemma about what to do. A chat with a local pastor led Victor to decide to move to Japan as a missionary and help raise his child.
Now together in Japan, Victor and Hikaru quickly got married, moving in together a few months before their son would be born. Named Masato, or Holy Man, Victor declared that he would give his son a proper life, not the terrible one he had. Masato would be raised in various Churches, taught to belief things that were taught and not question. This was not helped as his parents gradually became more radicalized in their beliefs. Eventually, the Wilsons grew tired off the faith they were a part of, and ended up leaving it. Shortly afterwards, they joined an organization called Life’s Light, a rapidly spreading New Age group. This unorthodox belief set led to many in their community in Japan viewing them as outliers or strange. Part of this new belief set was further sheltering Masato, home schooling him and isolating from kids his age. Masato learnt to not question the teachings of the organization and to just accept. Within a few years Life’s Light would grow into a massive global organization.
As Masato became a teenager, his father gained a position of leadership at Life’s Light Japan branch. One of his first actions was to make Masato a more active member of the group, having him become a recruiter for the group. These first interactions with outsiders confused Masato, as they held views that he couldn’t understand. How could they question his core beliefs? It was around this time that the police began investigating Life’s Light, including its leadership. This culminated in the mass arrest of the heads of the Church for financial crimes and various abuses. Victor Wilson would be deemed guilty and sent to jail.
This shocked Masato and his mother, not being able to belief what he was accused of. Initially, both of them supported Victor, visiting him in jail. However, Masato began to see coverage of the crimes on television, and began to question ever so slightly. Eventually, Masato let slip that he questioned his father’s innocence in front of his mother. She was furious, and never seemed to get over it. At age eighteen she asked Masato to move out in two months as he was now an adult.
With no actual skill set, Masato could not seem to find a job. Luckily for him, the owner of the local convenience store gave him a job, even allowing him to rent a room over the shop. After working there for a few weeks, Masato learnt that his mother had left the country after backlash from others in her community over her religious beliefs, becoming a missionary in South America. Masato realized how alone he was now, and how little he knew. All he had was the beliefs of his childhood, beliefs that weren’t holding up in the real world.
Other: Hex - a287be
Name: Pupil
Personality: Pupil is a very inquisitive youngster, amazed by the world around him. He fully trusts Masato, believing that he knows what is right. If he believes it is a good cause, Pupil will fight to the end for it. Tends to get lost in introspection when he should be paying attention.

@Le Fay Well written, despite a few tiny errors, but hey, everyone makes mistakes and auto-correct sometimes messes up your writing without you realizing. Bit of a 'content warning' there, don't you think? But before we get into any ethical dilemmas about your character's, well... ethical dilemma, there's one other issue. I like the Digimon line you went with; bit of an unconventional start, but I like that kind of stuff- there's a plot related issue with your Mega choice. We can take this to PM's if you want, because I don't want to spoil too many things too early, but it sort of boils down to two things: You can change the Mega, or you can trust me. If you're okay with keeping it a surprise, then we're good to go on that front, otherwise, we can speak further about this in a PM. Ultimately there's no pressure either way, I'm judt informing you of the situation.
EDIT: The immediacy of both issues mentioned has been reduced. The Mega is acceptable without plot conflict.
@TipsyTiefling First of all, love the username. We have two users working on character sheets, and Le Fay's sheet is pending approval. Provided the situation doesn't change within the foreseeable future, and everything goes through, that would give us seven characters, which is the ideal number. I could run with eight, but that would bring up some narrative shifts in terms of the character focus/balance of character focus, and I don't want it to seem too heavily reliant on one character, or a sub-group of characters. I'm not looking to mirror the "Only two Megas" part of Digimon Adventure.
It totally slipped my mind to add a content warning, my bad. I have since added one. If there are any other issues with my character please let me know. As for my Digimon, if it is really necessary I can change my Mega stage. I could go with something like Goldramon, as it still fits the idea I was thinking of. If anything else about my application is of note or concern, again, please let me know.
@Le Fay Na, it's fine. I haven't been personally affected by anything that was related to the backstory, but some have been. For the Digimon: It's not a big deal. If it were one of the planned antagonists, I'd have to ask you to change it. That's not the case, so you can do whatever you wish. I was also thinking of potentially suggesting Goldramon myself, or possibly Magnamon or Magnadramon. Either way, it's not as big of a deal. When it comes to Mokoto, I'm waiting for a second opinion from my co-GM. Dual validation, and all that.
Well, if someone drops out or withdraws I'll be around - in terms of balance, I don't mind not ending up with a Mega evolution. Playing as support for the group without a lot of offensive power could be an interesting take, either way I'll give it a couple of days before I write up a character sheet.
@tobiax Decided to change to Goldramon for my Mega, give my Digimon a bit more variety throughout its forms. As for dual validation, I'm hoping the Co-GM has no issues.
@TipsyTiefling Let me re-itterate. Everyone gets a Mega. But when it came to the Dark Masters, the story focused a lot on Matt and Tai because MetalGarurumon and WarGreymon were doing the majority of the fights. I don't want someone to get excluded from fights due to numbers, or feel that they've been cheated/have a cheapened experience. Not that they'll be a lot of one-on-one fights in late-game, but that means I can't specifically pivot the "times to shine" in end-game fights with the setup alone. It'll end up being more on the players. But, for the endgame, that was sort of the plan. Training wheels off by then.
@Le FayOh, one more thing. I'm not really sure of Japan's acceptance of the religions that use specifically 'Churches' at the time of the RP, or, well, in general. But I have heard that the organized 'western' style religion isn't, like, super accepted/looked on fondly in Japan. Not saying it scrubs the whole backstory/bio/character, but, well, Mokoto's mother would be a heavy outlier, and the original, and secondary, churches would likely see some heavy scrutiny, if not out right discrimination/suspicion.
character submitted, crossing my fingers for Hope ^_^U open to suggestions on digimon, but, without creating originals from whole cloth, I thought I made choices that spoke to a character arc
