STAR WARS
EDGE OF THE EMPIRE

It is dark times for the galaxy. Hundreds of systems continue to be subjected by the evil Galactic Empire, whose current crusade being led by a dark Jedi only know as Lord Kale seems to be purging systems of the outer rim.

However, living on the Edge of the Empire brings many risks which are not always involving the Empire itself. Criminals of all varieties have been pushed to the backend of space, but there is no reward without risk.

Greetings and welcome to Star Wars: Edge of the Empire. It has been three years since the destruction of the Death Star over Yavin IV. The Empire in response to this massive and shameful defeat has begun a mass culling of any they believe to have any affiliation to the rapidly growing Rebel Alliance and has sent a Dark Jedi known as Lord Kael on a crusade across the stars.

Now it’s time to get into your role in all of this, are you a smuggler running illegal weapon shipments to the Alliance? Or maybe a bounty hunter that seeks to avenge your parents murder, or maybe you are a colonist employed to locate new worlds and regions to set up a profitable colony. Whatever the case may be you have a story to tell, and the galaxy is the stage to tell it.

Character Application:

Name:
Race:
Gender:
Age:
Homeworld:

Backstory:

Class:
This means are you a bounty hunter, colonist etc.

Obligation:
Living on the edge of the Empire, everyone owes something to someone or something, this could be a large debt, or maybe an unquenchable thirst to discover the unknown. Whatever the case may be, this is the most important thing you nee to consider as it is the driving force for your character.

Skills: dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/16057259/E..

Here is a quick list of all EotE skills you can be proficient in. You select a max of 5 skills, however the more you pick, the more diluted they become. For example if you pick Athletics on its own, you will be more agile than someone who picked Athletics AND another skill.

Official OOC will be going up soon.
I'd be interested. So this is kind of like D&D with a loose story?

Yes.

All characters for one reason or another have a beef with Temo the Hutt and have to find a way off Tatooine. Where you go from there is up to the will of the players.
I would be very interested in a Star Wars RP. I have no experience with Edge of the Empire, should I know all of the rules before I join?

EotE is simply a tabletop rpg that uses the player's skills and environment to determine what dice are thrown, force users are extremely rare, I believe that there is actually only one official one in the entire game and even they are only classed as being force sensitive and not a fully trained jedi.

However there are quite a few different classes and races, each with their own unique backgrounds and abilities.

The story is a make as you go, so you don't need to known much as I will be posting all the vital info anyway.
So this would be Narrative based or like the traditional EoTE dice rolls?

I'd prefer it to be narrative based over dice rolls so the game can flow and we don't get stuck with the issues that the 7 different dice types would bring to an online setting. But still incorporating the essence of EotE like the Far Horizons supplement pack so players can own businesses etc.
I'd be interested. I've contemplated this before myself but everything stands or falls with how you incorporate the RPG system with a play-by-post (which just slows things down immensely).

What I may do is introduce the 'common sense' rule in which a player's stats is mingled in with their ability. For example, an astromech droid isn't going to be doing barrel rolls from cover to cover whilst shooting. But players with agility and Cun can.

Hi guys, I have recently gotten into the Edge of the Empire roleplaying game and love the scope and freedom that it brings. I would like to try and capture that same essence and attempt to broadening it across the forums so there can be multiple groups active.

While the RP will be based heavily on the source material I would also like to try an adapt it so players aren't heavily reliant on the GM or virtual dice throws. - Yet their character starts are still important.
