"We're soldiers here. The new soldiers that were stationed here just a few days ago." I scanned his face for any interest but there was none. He just looked annoyed and tired. "We wanted to have a word with you about everything that's going on." I paused. "If that's okay with you of course... Sir."
I stumbled back as the man shoved us aside. "Ummm, rude! You didn't have to push us!" I shouted at the man as he marched out of the building. Where ever he was going, he was determined to get there. "What an ass. Was that him?" I asked Sam, peeking from behind him and into the General's office. Papers were everywhere, scattered all over the floor and bits and pieces of his desk. But I couldn't see enough to actually notice if someone was still in there or not.
The young man rolled his eyes as he nodded. "Yes, yes. He's down the hall, third door to the right." He shooed us away with his hand as he flipped through his paperwork with the other. "Knock before you go in, he's a very important man, you know." The man finished. I nodded, gently taking Sam's arm and guiding him down the hall.

"Weird... He didn't ask us who we were or why we needed to see him. He should have better security since he's such an important man." I scoffed.
"Yeah, hopefully." I looked over my shoulder to see the group picking up their speed. I just hoped they weren't going to be taking a few out before the battle even started. Just a couple of minutes later, we were arriving at the doors of the building the general's office was. "You think he's in there?" I looked at Sam as I opened the door for us.
"Yeah, alright. I guess he'd be in his office. We should start there." I looked down and kicked a pebble that was near my foot. "Lead the way." I could hear the ruckus getting worse inside. Pretty soon, people were going to barge through the doors to get away from it all.
"Well then what are we supposed to do!?" I yelled, just as frustrated as he was. "We'd have a better chance on the outside than certain death on the front lines! All we'd need is a few guns and supplies! I can't just--" I stopped myself, realizing my voice grew louder and louder with every word I spoke. "Look, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to shout." I sighed, running a hand through my hair. "I'm scared. I don't want to go out there..."
"But- What about--" I sighed. "You can't go out there like this. You're still all banged up and stuff." I paused. "What are you gonna do? None of us are prepared for this." I looked up at Sam then out in front of us and the dry, cold base grounds. "I'm gettin' outta here." I mumbled. "They ain't gonna kill me. Not without a fight."
I nodded, letting him guide us out of the food hall before it got too rowdy. I could hear people yelling and throwing things as we left. Once we were outside, I took a deep breath, trying to calm myself down. "They can't do this to us." I said said calmly, my eyes to the ground. "They can't just-- just kill us." I wiped my eyes clear of any tears before they could stroll down my face.
I stood up, angry and ready to punch the next person that walked passed me. "You've gotta be kidding me!" I yelled. "You can't send us out there like this! This is murder" I shouted. Someone else in the crowd agreed with me, throwing a plate across the room. I looked at Sam, with hot tears forming in my eyes. "They can't send us out there. They can't."
"Forget I said anything about it. You're right, it's extremely risky and I wouldn't want anything to happen to us." I said quietly. "We do need a plan though. I'm not going into this thing completely unprepared. I ain't goin' out like that." I shook my head. I looked up at Sam then around the room again. I could see Christy stuck between a conversation with Luke and Penelope a few tables away.

"They're lying!" Someone screamed as they crashed through the doors of the Food Hall. It was a boy. Brown skin, short hair, and he looked as strong as an Ox. "It's all a lie, they're not even-" He was cut off as three very large Sergeants tackled him to the ground. "They're lying!" The boy continued to shout and fight back as the Sergeants tussled on the ground with him. "We're being sent out tomo-" One of them punch him in the face, knocking him out. At first, the entire Food Hall was dead silent. Everyone stood around with their mouths to the ground. Some people still had their utensils hoovering in front of their mouths. Then all at once it seemed as if what just happened clicked. Every person in the room was enraged and I knew all hell was about to break lose.
