"Maybe it isn't his. It could be the Jaxlor's." I paused for a moment. "But if it is the Jaxlor's, maybe they have the key. They aren't dumb enough to leave it in here... At least I don't think they are." I resumed searching for the key. "We could come back and shoot the lock off." I suggested. I knew it would be loud and cause attention, but if we were about to leave, we should be fine.
"Or we c--" I came across a small white box at the bottom of one of the ex-generals drawers. I picked it up and opened the top. Inside was a small golden key with a blue ribbon going through it. "I think I found it."
"Yeah, sure, of course." I walked away as he knelt down to unlock the chest. I paused for a moment, wondering where the Ex General would hide the key. I made my way over back to his desk and began to search it again. This time, looking for hidden compartments and places he might've hidden it.
"He may have taken the key with him." I said as I continued to search. "How's the lock coming along?"
I shrugged and made the typical 'I don't know' sound. "Might be something important. Could be maps. Could be secret files..." I drifted off, holding the gold lock in my hands and tugging on it. It was locked of course, but it was worth a try. "Sam, do you think you can pick this lock?" I stood up, placing my hands on my hips and waiting for him to answer.
"Alright. I'll check the ones over here." I nodded towards the side of the room I was investigating. I began to open more drawers and such, hoping to find a map or something else important. I flipped through a few folders, scanning the words as quickly as I could without trying to miss any important information. "More files on soldiers." I mumbled, tossing everything back in it's place.
"I don't think we're going to find-" A big chest caught my eye. It was black with a gold lock and gold trimmings. "What's this?" I smirked, walking over to it and fiddling with the lock. "I found something!" I smiled, crouching down to examine the chest more.
"Gotcha." I walked over to the desk and pulled the drawer open. "Surprised this isn't locked." I sat down in the chair in front of the desk and began to rummage through the papers and folders. "They're all blank." Disappointment laced my words. I'd try another one of the drawers on his desk. I pulled the drawers along the sides of the desk and began to go through them. Anything that looked interesting, I placed at the top of the desk. I'd found a few papers that had information about this camp and a few others. "I can't find any maps, yet." I stood up after a few minutes, gathering the papers I had found. "Did you?"
"I doubt it." I said quietly. "He has no reason to be here anymore. He probably left and is crying himself a river somewhere." I looked up at Sam then at the door. I hesitantly raised my hand, reaching for the knob and twisting it. I could hear the door click and I pushed it open. The Ex-General was gone. No where in sight. His pictures that were on the wall just earlier were gone, his papers were cleaned up, and his desk was neat.
"I know. I know they're expecting something out of us." I said quietly. "I just hope they aren't at the escape hole. I would hate to get caught right when we're about to make it out. That would be such a let down." I said as we continued to walk. From the looks of it, we were almost there. The sooner the better. I was ready to get out of this place.
I nodded. "Alright. Then after that, the medical supplies." I followed him towards the General's office, hoping we would get there without getting caught. "You think we'll make it out of here safely?" I asked Sam, hoping he'd give me his honest opinion. I was a little nervous of how this would end, but I had a good feeling we'd be alright.
"We'll all be there." Nina said, then turned to her siblings.. "And if we're not, I'll kick your ass. We gotta make it home to mom." She was talking to her siblings now. I guessed she was the oldest. "Be careful. Don't screw up. I love you guys." They hugged once more. "Joe--" She paused. "You know what to do. Watch Em's back." She said.
"And you watch, Spence." He responded. They nodded at each other before going there separate ways. Now it was just Sam and I.

"You ready?" I turned to him after the siblings were gone and on their mission. I hoped they'd be alright. We were counting on them. We actually needed them and if any of them messed this up, we'd have to pay for it in some way.
"I hate to admit it, but splitting up would be a lot better." Nina answered for her siblings. "Joe, you stay with Em. Spencer will stay with me. Deal?" She looked at her siblings. The weren't too happy about splitting up, but the nodded, agreeing to who they'd be grouped with. "Sam, you're the Plan Man. Who's getting what? Where and when are we meeting?" She asked.
