Current Apparently I just love dropping off the face of the earth when I get even a little bit stressed. I wish I didn't.

Thoughts: Do you have 12 pear trees at the end of the 12 days of Christmas? If so, that means you also end up with 42 swans a swimming and 42 geese a laying. And those birds are fierce.

Bio

Hey, Light the Dark here. I'm a mid-30's slightly crazy/somewhat obsessed with reading and writing/cute things loving/fantasy fan woman, with an apparent fondness for massive run-on sentences.

My current obsessions are The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom, Monster Romances, Tamora Pierce, Disney, and re-told fairy-tales. (Though, I'll admit, the last three are pretty much always an obsession.)

I like my roleplays with a little (or a lot) of romance: I'm a sucker for fluff and the 'falling in love' sort of romances in RPs. And while I don't mind drama or angst, I like the end of the RP to at least be a bittersweet or happy-for-now ending.

For every person, there will be another who completes their soul...

Once upon a time, two beings fell in love.

Character B is immortal and ageless, never dying, forever living. Character A is woefully mortal. When 'A' died, 'B's heart broke. But a few decades later, 'B' found another... and after their death, another. Each love so much like 'A' that 'B' couldn't help but love them. It took a century or two, and then 'B' realized... 'A' was being reincarnated.

Character A doesn’t remember their past lives, but Character B remembers each and every one. 'B' has loved 'A' in every past life, no matter what. They were made for each other. Each night that 'A' is alive, they visit each other in their dreams, however 'A' can't remember them upon waking... Until one day, after meeting 'B', Character A does.

- - - Side notes:
Character B does not strictly have to be 'immortal', but can be a very long lived race like an Elf or Fairy.
Just because 'B' is searching for 'A' doesn't mean they always find them.
This can be in a world where Soulmates are common or uncommon
I'd prefer a fantasy setting over something 'real world'

Who I'm looking for: Anyone who is casual/high-casual who wants to RP with me is more than welcome to see if we click. ^^ I don't bite... hard. I'm looking for someone to play a male or female character to my female.
I'm much more interested in quality over quantity - I like depth in character development, and collaborative world building. A 5 paragraph post that rambles and isn't well written won't hold my attention like a couple paragraphs with insight into your character's thoughts and development.

Craving right now:
I'm a sucker for fluff.
I have a bit of a craving for something dark and gothic-y with heavy romance.
I can see this particular RP going either way, though I'm currently leaning towards the darker side of things for this prompt.

Other information: I'm sure there are many things I am missing at the moment, but for now this will do until I update things. I'm a 30-ish female, for those who like to know the age of their partners.
As of March 2020 I've fallen into sudden free time, for reasons totally unknown... Sadly my current partners work in healthcare, and their free time has vanished.
Typically you can expect a reply once a week-ish, though right now it'll likely be more. I need something to do that will distract me and keep my mind working and me not going down the anxiety rabbit hole.

It's not something we wanted to do, and we tried to find a way to make it work, but it just wasn't something we could do.

I've had fun working with you all, though.
@dabombjk @caits @Black Panther

Unfortunately, due to life being, well, life, both Kidd and Kaalee had to bow out of the RP.

@Kyrisse and I can't play every character of people who have dropped, along with doing our GM duties. (Of which mine seems to be bugging people and bringing bad news. ^^; )

Which means, despite remaining interest, we're going to have to close this RP.
Nico and Caity

Collaboration of: @Kyrisse and @Light the Dark

Caity raised her brows as Nico came back. "Done flirting?" She asked as she leaned against her door. She took a long sip from her coffee mug - no cream, one sugar - as the actor returned. It wasn't as if she was upset her left her hanging. After all, she was no movie star or model. Still, they had had plans for coffee.

Yeah, she has all the right to be annoyed at me. I did leave her so abruptly... Nico thought to himself. And although there was still that feeling of wanting to talk to someone, he made an effort to focus on his friend. It was probably prudent to apologize while he was ahead. He ran a hand through his hair and gave her an apologetic smile. "I...uh...wasn't exactly flirting...I think," a momentary look of confusion came over his face but it disappeared just as quickly as it appeared. "Anyway, sorry about that."

She pointed over her shoulder with her thumb, indicating her house. "There's a whole french press full of coffee inside. It's still hot, and you're more than welcome to some."

The apologetic smile evolved into a genuine grin. "I'll take you up on that offer. I..." Nico's words trailed off as he watched a small colorful hummingbird flutter around right in front of him, it's beak clamped onto what looked like a small scroll. His hand automatically came up, thinking that the little bird might need somewhere to land on. It headed straight for his hand but instead of touching down onto his palm, it placed the scroll it had neatly in the center of Nico's hand. His blue green eyes widened when the scroll magically enlarged. "What is this?" he asked even as his hands were automatically unrolling the blue and green parchment.

Caity reached out with her free hand, the other secure around her coffee mug. A hummingbird dropped a small scroll into her palm then fluttered off. Caity opened the pink and blue scroll, pinning one edge of it against her coffee mug and rolling it open with her other hand. "Moonrise? When's moonrise?"

She had barely asked that question when the words vanished and were replaced by new ones. ...choose your fate... Nico or Gordo... What the hell was that about? She had to ask one of them out to the dance she was trying to avoid? She had never asked a boy to a dance before - well, she had once. It did not go well. And both these men were attractive. Of course, Nico was more so than Gordo, and then there was the small fact that Gordo seemed to dislike her... But how in the hell could she ask a movie star to a ball?

"Moonrise is probably tonight..." Nico replied, his eyes quickly scanning the new words that appeared on the scroll. "Would I say yes or no? To what?" The movie star glanced at Caity's scroll. "What does yours say?" he asked. He barely had time to read what was written in the pink and blue scroll Caity held when the words faded. He raised an eyebrow. "Did your scroll have my name on it?"

Caity let out a cough, dropping the scroll. The parchment vanished into the air as it fell from her fingers. "Well, you know, possibly." Damn, he had seen! What should she do now? Caity still didn't feel like she could just ask him to go to the ball with her. He was... Well, damnit, he was a movie star!

Caity put her coffee mug to her lips, gulping down still-hot coffee as quickly as she could. She coughed and sputtered as she finished. "Oh, would you look at that, I finished my coffee. Guess that means I need to go get more."

Nico looked at his own scroll and watched it vanish from his hand. Pretty convenient way to get rid of stuff that are no longer needed, he found himself thinking. He looked back at Caity. "Well, I'm coming along with you. You did offer to share some of your coffee," he said as he followed after her. "So, was it really my name on your scroll?" he called after her.

Caity blushed, and let out a groan. Of course the jerk wouldn't let it go. Stupid movie star. "Yes, it was, you nosy man. It also has Gordo's name. Apparently I need to ask one of you to the fairy prom."

"So, was it really my name on your scroll?"

Caterina had taken one glance at her scroll, and knew her choice. But as Nico's voice filtered over to her, Caterina frowned. He wasn't only on her scroll? She looked to see who he was talking to - ugh, the purple haired woman. Caterina almost pitied the poor plump girl. Nico was shallow enough to not go with her if she asked - there was a reason his name had only been linked to the most beautiful Hollywood elites and models, after all.

Caterina would do the girl a favor. From the looks of the girl's sputtering, she hadn't asked him yet. So Caterina would make sure the plump girl wouldn't get rejected. "Nico!" She sauntered over to the duo, her hips swaying. "Seems I'm supposed to ask you out to the ball. We should go, for old time's sake."

Caity blinked at the model, surprise coating her features. Did Nico used to date her? Damn. DAMN. The other woman was gorgeous. Yet there was something about her attitude Caity didn't like. The woman seemed to think Nico saying yes was a given. Caity cleared her throat. "How do you know Nico hasn't said yes to someone else?"

Nico was about to encourage Caity to ask him out when the woman he used to date came up to them. Caterina confused him. One moment she acted like she hated him and the next she wanted to go to the ball with him. Her inconsistency was one of the reasons why he broke it off in the first place. He looked from one woman to the other. These games or whatever we're all in would probably give me a headache, he thought. Maybe I should just go with Rina to end this. He knew how unpleasant Caterina could be and he didn't want to subject his purple haired friend to that. But despite that thought, he found himself looking expectantly at Caity, her words making him unconsciously wait for her invitation.

"Said yes to who?" Caterina made a show of looking around. Could this girl not take a hint? And she was trying to help her, too. "It seems like no one else has asked him - the only ones here are you and I. Besides, Nicolas and I have a history. I'm obviously the best choice, and the only choice."

The model's words made her bristle - if Caity was a cat, her tail would be puffy in anger. She turned to Nico, half out of spite. She had been planning to get up the courage to ask him. Now she was pissed off enough to do it without courage. "Nico. Want to go to the fairy prom with me? We can get drunk on fairy wine and pretend to know how to dance."

Caterina's lips parted slightly in shock. The plump girl actually had the courage to ask him? She applauded her bravery - even if it was a totally foolish move. Nicolas wouldn't be interested in going with the purple-haired woman.

Again, Nico looked from one woman to the other. He had been in a similar situation with Caterina once. And it didn't end well for the other girl. He weighed his options. The supermodel was right in one aspect. It made sense for him to go with her...that is, if he was still in Hollywood maintaining his super star appearance, But this place... he found that he wanted to at least be himself and not let social expectations dictate his actions. He looked towards Caity and made a different decision. "Sure, I'll go to the fairy prom with you, Caity," he gave her a smile.

The model nearly choked as she stopped as gasp from escaping her. Well, that wasn't what she had planned at all. Still, must maintain appearances. She gave her hair a flip. "Pity. You might have gotten your own personal after party, Nicolas. Remember our last one?" Caterina gave him a slight smirk. "Have fun with your...friend." She turned and left the duo, her hips swaying as she sashayed away. She supposed she would find this 'Gordo' character.

The look of shock that had appeared on her face since Nico had said 'yes' still hadn't left. Caity blinked at the movie star for a long few moments, trying to formulate something to say. She hadn't actually expected him to say yes. Particularly when she was up against that snobby but beautiful woman. Who would have slept with him. Caity just hoped Nico didn't regret his choice. "Uhm. Well. Since that's settled... I guess it's time for me to have more coffee? Do you want coffee? I want coffee. I'm going to get coffee, before someone else comes over and asks you to the fairy prom. That was awkward."

Caity went into her house, seeking the comfort of coffee and books.

Nico followed after his obviously flustered friend turned date for the ball. "Coffee, yeah. That'd be nice," he said a little distractedly. He may have turned his ex down but the model's words brought back vivid memories to his head.

It was one of those wild Hollywood parties where booze was freely flowing and women threw themselves half naked at the men. But unlike most of his buddies who were making out with one random girl after the other, Nico only had his attention on Caterina and their hot make out session in one of the darker corners of the bar. It didn't take long for them to agree to go back to Nico's place where they went at it the whole night, tangling and tumbling together in his bed and filling the room with their moans of pleasure.

Caity led him through her book-filled home, bringing him to the kitchen. There, waiting on the table, was another cup for coffee. Convenient. She filled it up for Nico, and filled her mug up once more. "So. That was your...ex?" She asked, sitting down at the kitchen table. She didn't notice the walls - once painted a cheerful blue - were now a glossy stained wood.

a catch-up post for...
Caterina Versini

One moment she had been drinking her non-fat, 2 splenda, vanilla latte and scrolling through her phone. The next, the world had shimmered away around her. Her latte fell from her hands as Angie's melted away, being replaced by a forest and...fairies?

This must be some sort of joke.

At least she wasn't alone - about ten others appeared in the forest as she did. More than one vomited. Caterina wrinkled her nose in disgust. That was something she hadn't wanted to see or hear. She turned her eyes to her phone, ignoring the commotion around her. The other people could freak out and do nothing to change the situation. She was going to see what was going on.

Scrolling through her contacts, the first person Caterina decided to call was her agent. If anyone had approved this joke, it would be him. She pressed the image next to his name, and held the phone up to her ear.

A computerized voice crackled through the speaker. "We're sorry. The number you want to reach is out of your service area. Please try again later." And then - so faintly Caterina knew she must have imagined it - there was a giggle before the recording cut off.

She pushed her chocolate hair away from her face. Something was obviously wrong with her Agent's phone. Thalia it was then - her personal assistant had to know what was going on. (That Thalia hadn't told her to expect this was grounds for her to be fired, but Caterina wouldn't do that until she was home.) But dialing her assistant's number gave her the same recording - and now she was certain there was a giggle at the end of it.

Home, her mother's cell, her father's cell, her brother - all were met with that same message.

Caterina wasn't impressed. Any other feelings - like nervousness - were pushed to the side. She had engagements and work that she had committed to. Whoever thought they could just whisk her away like some unimportant nobody was going to get an earful.

She shoved her phone in her pocket. Time to find out who was in charge.

Her caramel eyes swept over the other humans. There were people she knew - or knew of - but then there were others... Hmph. She looked around again. Well, Nicolas was here. That was...something. Of course, he was currently talking to some purple-haired plus-size woman in cheap clothing. Why he would even bother was beyond her. She'd have to ask him later.

For now, however... She walked up to one of the fairies. Caterina wanted answers.
*dances excitedly*

I can't wait for the update.

Hey all! Light the Dark here. As some...most... of my rp partners have been eaten by life, I'm looking for one or two new partners.

Who I'm looking for:Anyone who is casual/high-casual who wants to RP with me is more than welcome to see if we click.

Types of RPs I'm interested in: While romance typically doesn't have to be the main point of the RP, it is an important part of an RP for me. Right now I am in the mood for something with heavy romance. I tend to be drawn to fantasy RPs - more 'traditional' ones rather than urban/modern fantasy.
I've been mulling something over based on Dragon's Bait - in which one character is a Dragon (that can turn human) and the other is a sacrifice to said dragon - as you might have guessed by the image and the title of this thread. You know. Possibly.

The book's plot: Wrongly condemned for witchcraft, fifteen-year-old Alys is tempted to take revenge on her accusers when the dragon to which she has been sacrificed turns out to be an ally.

My Idea: I'd like to take the basic plot - a character that is falsely accused and sacrificed to a dragon, the dragon then helping them - and expand on it. Revenge or not can be part of the plot, but something I would like to be part of the plot is the dragon learning about humans. I have an image in my head that this dragon is somewhat fae-like, as different to us as we are to them. I would like to use characters that are older - though the character in the book is a teenager, I'm not going to rp characters that young for romance.

Other information: I'm sure there are many things I am missing at the moment, but for now this will do until I update things. I'm a mid-twenties-something female, for those who like to know the age of their partners. I am NOT someone who posts daily. I try to post a couple of times a week, but sometimes it may be more than a week between posts. If you're ever worried I've lost interest, just message me - I'll usually tell you that I haven't.
Also, please don't ghost me. If you aren't enjoying things or are just busy, let me know. I appreciate not wondering. :)

If interested, please send me a PM.

Finally, the glitter-dust settled. Caity's mind seemed clearer than it had for a while - ever since the two dancing fairies had appeared in the clearing in the first place. She looked around, rubbing her eyes to rid them of any remaining glitter. She was sure she was supposed to be doing something...

"Fuck." Her eyes searched for Nico. She had to make sure he hadn't drank any coffee. At least until they knew they wouldn't be trapped here forever if they ate or drank anything.

Finally she found him, on the other side of the clearing. Was that a cup of coffee in his hand? "Fuck fuck fuck."

Caity trotted over to him. "For the love of god, tell me you did not drink any coffee."

Nico looked a little distracted. He thought the dancing fairies were fascinating but he wondered what the dust was. He began feeling as if he needed...wanted to talk to someone... He looked around to find out who it was he wanted to talk to and noticed Caity walking towards him. He raised an eyebrow at her and then looked at the half empty coffee cup in his hand. "Yeah, I did, actually. What? You didn't have any coffee in your house?" he gestured to the door behind him. "I've got a whole pot in there. I'll share if you want some."

Caity clasped her hand to her forehead. She hadn't gotten here in time, damn it. "Thanks, but no. No, I did, along with an abundance of books, but... not the point." How to say it? She was going to sound so stupid. "Think, for a moment, that this isn't a prank by... Howl? Or we haven't all gone crazy. If this is real. I don't know if you read many myths and fairy tales. But the fare folk - fairies, or maybe elves - if you eat or drink food from them... you... stay with them."

"Howell," Nico corrected. "And no... by now, I'm pretty convinced that this isn't a prank. There's no way in the world for Howell to know what design I want for my house," he looked again at the dark liquid in his cup. "I know all that stuff. Never accept a Faerie gift. Do not eat Faerie Food or drink Faerie wine," he enumerated. "The way I see it, we've been brought here for something. That's why they're giving us things...so that we'll cooperate. That makes us even, don't you think? Of course, there's a big chance that I could be wrong. Either way, I don't really know if we'll ever get back to our realities. We've been given houses that fits our needs and wants. By stepping into the houses, we've already accepted a gift. That alone is enough for them to keep us here. So, I figured, drinking the coffee won't make it any worse than it already is." He looked over her shoulder, still trying to figure out why he had such a strange feeling. Who was it that he wanted to talk to?

"Right. Accepting gifts is on that list too." She had forgotten that. Caity let her head fall back, looking up at the sky with a groan. "So much for warning you. So much for remembering the thing about the Faerie gifts. And here I thought I was well read."

Well, she was well read. It was remembering what she read which was the problem. Caity looked back at Nico - he seemed occupied. "Well, I'll let you go. Apparently there is some big fancy ball tonight that I am going to try and not attend. Though that's also where things are supposed to made clear. Damn it. I'm going to have to go if I want answers."

Nico turned his attention back to Caity, feeling it rude not to give her his full attention. "Sorry about... Anyway, yeah, I suppose everything will be made clear later. Why don't you want to attend? Don't you like dances?"

Caity laughed. "The last dance I attended was Prom. At the request of my mother and friends. I really don't think that quite qualifies." She'd much rather be staying at home with a book. She liked dressing up though, on occasion.

She glanced at him again with raised brows. "You must attend a lot of dances. Or fancy parties, which probably aren't the same. Do you like them, or are they just part of the job?"

Even as they were talking, she could smell his cup of coffee. Her mouth watered. If they were in trouble anyway, coffee wouldn't hurt. No more than accepting and loving a house full of books would. Caity didn't even notice herself staring at the cup of coffee in Nico's hands as she finished speaking.

Nico shrugged. "There are parties that are fun and parties that are... well... compulsory," he answered and followed Caity's eyes towards his coffee cup. "I'd offer you my cup but then it'd probably be strange for you to be drinking from a stranger's cup. If you want, I can pour you a cup..." he furrowed his brows, trying to remember what he was supposed to do.

"What? Oh..." Caity blushed and tugged at her ear. "Was I that obvious?" She paused, then added, "Honestly, though, you're less strange then everyone else around here. And the fairies... I mean, I've known you for what... Two whole hours? We're practically best friends."

"But yes. I would love a cup of coffee. Maybe get out of some of this weirdness for a while."

Nico glanced towards the group of people chatting with each other. One had already fallen asleep on the pink haired woman's lap. Figuring that no one would miss him anyway and that maybe going into the house for a while would clear the confusion from his head, he nodded. "Well, your house or my house?" he asked, a telltale grin on his face.

Caity and Gordo

Gordo sighed, left alone he shoved his hands in his pockets, watching those around him. There weren't many things that interested him, so Gordo watched people around him. He watched a couple of people, and after a time, he hesitated before approaching a purple haired individual. There was something about her that intrigued him and he wanted to figure out what.

Still, he stuttered as he said "H-hello."

Caity stopped in her tracks, turning to this new person. Something still tugged at her to keep walking, but for now she paused. "Hi?" She asked, confused. Why was this guy talking to her. She wasn't anything special. Glancing around, Caity noticed everyone seemed to be talking to someone. Maybe he was talking to her out of pity?

Still, his stuttering was kind of cute. As was he.

"Looks like a bomb went off inside a unicorn, right?" She waived her hand in the air - sparkles of glitter still floated around.

Gordo smiled slightly, the girl seemed to think he was just there because there was no one else to approach. Strange, really. Really, she just intrigued him and Gordo gave a shrug. "well, that's certainly one way to describe it. I was thinking tinker bell was just so excited, she had to share the dust. The fairies so far do seem excited about us.." he said, managing to not stutter thankfully.

"I'm g-Gordo" Drat. Spoke took soon about the stuttering. Reaching up he ran a hand through his hair, pushing his glasses more securely to his nose as he did so, slightly flustered.

Caity laughed. "Humph, Tinker Bell." It was an apt description. It did look much like the fairy went everywhere and scattered pixidust. "Too bad we aren't flying, too."

She watched him with raised brows. "You okay? You seem a bit nervous. You shouldn't be because of me. Maybe because of all the Tinker Bells flying around and fucking with our heads, though. Next thing you know is Peter Pan will show up." Caity grinned at him, glad to share a joke.

Gordo smiled brightly, then shrugged "Then I'd be worried about falling, I have trouble keeping my feet on the ground as it is" he said, a little bashfully, watching the dust for a moment, and then back to Caity.

"Why shouldn't I be a little nervous?" he asked softly, a little...stumped about why he was. "You're a girl, and you seem quite nice. And, from what I heard, likes books." Why was he saying this?

Caity stared at him. "Yeah, but I'm just a girl. There are girls here who I'm pretty sure are supermodels." She paused a moment, his last words registering in her head. Had he eavesdropped on her conversation with Keiran? That really was not something she wanted to be eavesdropped on.

"Uh... were you eavesdropping?" Her tone was clear - she did not approve.

"sorry for having ears" Gordo said, surprised he had snapped back like that, wondering what he had done to have the girl be so...hostile. He thought they had been having a good conversation, but maybe he was just delusional. What girl would like him, anyway? "and sound travels" he slid his hands into his pockets once more, weary at having to defend himself from something he couldn't really stop.

She raised her brows. Caity hadn't expected him to snap at her. She hadn't been rude, but eavesdropping wasn't a nice thing to do. She certainly wasn't paying attention to other people's conversations. Maybe he had really good hearing? "Were you bitten by a radioactive bat?" She asked, laughing a little, trying to diffuse the situation. "Because your hearing has to be really good to be able to overhear stuff through all this noise."

"Nope it was a spider," Gordo shot back. So he could listen? It was a skill many people seemed to have lost over the years. It wasn't like he planned on it. "I'm good at listening, okay? Not many people notice me, and so I pay attention to what is around me." a little disappointed when it seemed to have been going so well, Gordo got a tad defensive.

"So why aren't you swinging through the trees like Spiderman?" Caity asked with a laugh. "Or, rather, Tarzan? Though Tarzan wasn't bit by a radioactive spider..."

Was she messing with him? Gordo couldn't tell. Suddenly self conscious and worried, he ran a hand through his hair again, causing it to stick up even more. Although he was pleased she could laugh, it hurt knowing it was at his expense. "No, he wasn't. He was raised by gorillas." he said a little neutrally, trying to figure out what he had done wrong. Caity seemed to have expected hostility from the first, and he didn't know why.

"Right? See, you know your classic literature." She paused. "Or you know your Disney movies." Caity laughed again. Not that the Disney versions of classics were bad, of course. She held a certain fondness for them - she had loved them as a child. But they weren't the actual stories.

"I know both" Gordo replied, still trying to figure out what he had done wrong. He sighed softly. Maybe coming approaching her hadn't been a good idea. He placed his hands in his pockets again, and stepped back. "well, it's been nice talking to you"

"You too." Caity did wonder, a bit, if she had said something wrong. She thought she had been nice - she had only been joking with the man, after all. That was what she did. But it didn't seem to matter, because she was being pulled away again by some invisible force. And she still needed to talk to Nico!

She glanced back at Gordo as she walked away. "Oh, by the way, I don't know if you heard, but don't eat or drink here!" Might as well give him the warning. It was the least she could do.
