Sunshine "Sunny" Reyes
Age: 15
Godly parent: Apollo
Background: Sunny and her twin sister, Summer, never had a "normal" life, their mother had not been all there and had gotten worse as years went by. The two girls were always in trouble in school, they never were one with out the other and if someone tried to separated them they would bite, kick, and scream. This behavior cause them to be outcast among their peers but they could careless because they always had each other.
As Sunshine and Summer got older they found they had a knack for the bow and practice until their fingers were blister. Summer was better with the bow but Sunny found that she could play a guitar so well that it made people around her cry. When she played for a man selling guitars the man loved her playing so much he gave her an old beat up guitar. It was the nicest thing any adult had given her and she cherished it more than anything she owned. Summer had drawn on the back, a field of flowers with the sun shining down on it.
On the girls four-teeth birthday they came home and found their mother had past away on the couch, over dosed on the poison she was addicted to. It was almost too much to bare but the sisters held each others hands as they made a silent promise that they would never leave each others side. Though, they would not have time to grieve as they heard something big stomping around the outside of the house and with a crash the door and its frame burst open as a one eye monster came barreling through. The two ran to their room, Sunny grabbed her guitar on instinct and Summer grabbed her bow and quiver.
"Climb through the window!" Summer commanded her sister as she nocked an arrow.
Sunny turned to her sister, her eyes full of tears and nodded. The girl had climbed through this window hundreds of times as effortlessly as she took breath, though, it seemed tonight she was having trouble. Summer had pushed her through and Sunny went tumbling to the ground almost breaking her arm and the guitar.
"Now you Summer!" Sunny yelled with none of the confidence her sister had.
Summer quickly shut the window and locked it, the sound of the monster crashing through the house was coming closer. However, Summer gave a look that in all Sunny's life she had never seen. A look of fierce determination, a look of resolve that had never crossed the young girls face.
"Go I'll hold it back!" Summer ordered.
"But w-" Sunny choked.
"Now!" Summer commanded one last time as the monster tore through the doorway. Summer stood her ground and drew back the bow string has far back as she could.
Sunny could hear more of those things coming, she gritted her teeth and ran with an iron grip around the guitar's neck and tears streaming down her cheeks. She would run from those monsters for days and just before she was about to give in to her exhaustion she was saved by a satyr and three older teens.
When the group had finally made it to Camp Half-Blood, Sunny was half dead and would not eat or even speak. The Apollo cabin had cared for her and nursed her back to health. Though, a few days later she was claimed by Apollo. However, learning that her father was a powerful god made the girl bitter and hate the god, she would also rejected her brothers and sisters in the Apollo cabin, her only sister died protecting her. It would be months before she spoke to the others and eventually she allowed her half siblings to get closer, though, she still kept them at arms length but her hatred for her father remained. Some days her new siblings would have to force her to leave her bed, most days it felt like a piece of her soul died with her sister.
Now a new hatred keeps her up at night. "If I had stayed I could have fought along side Summer. If I had been stronger, like Summer, she would still be alive. I should had forced her through the window, she should still be alive, it should be me that was dead."
