Well I need a template first ^^

I'll put it up with the OOC if we get enough people. I personally dislike introducing a template in the Interest check.

Just to ensure we could be something like a wife/husband with a barely legal child? XD As in could some of the rps make character who are wife and husband. And then adding a bit of spice to it by making them have a little secret of their own. For example cheating or something. And the wife and husband would be separated and paired up with other people correct? It would add to the drama.

of course, I'm definitely encouraging people to be in families and stuff. I know that I definitely want to. And yes, people who know each other will not be paired together.

Oh I'm interested as well :D (though I'd like my character to be adopted more than actual blood related. Though in name their family)

Maybe, it would depend on your character sheet

That's fine, I'm particular about RP partners as well. How many posts do you expect each day? Also, will this RP be in third or first person?

I usually keep the standards low for posting frequency by saying at least once a week at the bare minimum. Of course, I'd rather people post much much more than that, but I understand that things come up, and there's just those days when you just can't write, so if you post at least once a week, you'll be kept in the game. I'm used to slower rate RPs, but I do want this roleplay to have a faster pace than my other failed roleplays.

And it will be in third person. I hate roleplaying in first person.

Could you elaborate a bit more on the function of the assigned pairs? Does the answer have a partner? If not, then how does this not give away their status as the answer?

The pairs are basically there to force characters who might not interact with each other otherwise to cooperate. It's just meant to stir up drama, and build/break relationships. The answer doesn't have a partner, there is only one "answer". Unless the answer tells his/her partner that s/he's the answer (Which I will NOT recommend), it won't give anything away. The answer will be assigned a partner, but they will have no idea that their partner is the answer. Remember, the answer's objective is to throw everyone off and get them to guess wrong. Who better to start with than their own partner?

I hoped I answered your question. It makes so much sense in my head, but that doesn't mean I'm good at explanations x_x

This has my interest. I'm not sure how well I could RP this sort of scenario but I'm willing to try.

Awesome!

I've never read that book, but this sounds like a fun concept! It's great to enter role plays when the GM already has a plot direction in mind. Do we need to provide character sheets?

Most definitely. I have high standards for my roleplays, and I don't let just anybody jump in. Of course, I accept most characters anyway... ^^""

A relative's death is always sad.... But is it really? What if you barely knew the relative? What if you were able to gain billions of dollars from their death? Is their death still sad to you?
"Congratulations! You've been selected to participate in The Inheritance Games! By taking part in The Inheritance Game, you have the chance to inherit the massive Lovelle fortune..."

Many people have that one relative that's rich, you're not exception to this. Granted, you probably don't know him that well. You've heard rumors about him, saw him in the family pictures, and maybe you've even met him once or twice, but the point is, you're not close. Christopher Lovelle was always a mysterious man in the family, and wasn't the most popular. The only thing most people in the family knew about him was that he was a billionaire with no immediate family. He was known as eccentric, strange, and nobody in the family really wanted to be close to him. Which is why it stunned you when you received a letter informing you of his death. Why would you get notice of his death?

And why are you eligible to receive his entire inheritance?

Whatever the case, intrigued by the inheritance, you decide to participate in The Inheritance Game.

What awaits you is a series of puzzles that you must solve, and to win the inheritance, you must be the first to figure out the final answer. But of course, you're not alone. Competing with the members of your own family, you must navigate this game of greed, false relationships and distrust to outsmart everyone else. Who will you trust? Who will you abandon? Will greed win over your moral compass?

Let The Inheritance Game begin....

Basic Idea and Premise: Solve puzzles! Betray people! Make friends! Meet family! GET RICHHHH
The Inheritance Game Rules
  • Everyone will receive puzzles. The goal will be to collect as many clues as possible to solve the puzzles and figure out who the "answer" is. The winner will receive the inheritance.
  • The "answer" will be a person among the contestants. The players' goal will be to figure out who the "answer" is.
  • Everyone is going to work in assigned pairs. Although cooperation is okay, you will not gain any additional money for lending aid to anyone.
  • You must live on the Lovelle Estate during the game.
  • People must come up with their answer and reasoning by the deadline.
  • If no one gives the correct answer, the "answer" will receive the inheritance. Therefore, the goal of the "answer" will be to confuse the others and try to get them to guess wrong.

Hello everyone! I realize that a lot of this may be confusing, so I'll try to break down and explain the parts which I think are a bit hard to understand.

Every few IC days, your characters will receive a puzzle that they must solve. These puzzles contain important clues leading to who the "answer" is.

The "answer" will be a character in the roleplay. Nobody will know who the "answer" is besides for the GM and the "answer" themselves. The person who is the "answer" will be more or less the antagonist of this roleplay, trying to throw everyone off. It's the goal of all of the players to guess who the "answer" is by the end of this game--that's how they win the inheritance. But the "answer" will be actively trying to mess everyone up, because if everyone guesses wrong, the "answer" will receive the money.

You do not have to be good at puzzles or mystery solving to participate in this roleplay. Although I would like you to at least try to solve the various puzzles, it would be unrealistic if everyone knew how to solve the puzzles and such. Remember, your character can be a clueless one, they can't all be the detective-type! I will be dropping hints about how to solve the puzzles in both the IC and the OOC.

This roleplay is centered around human relationships, even more than puzzle solving. While attempting to solve the puzzles will be an important part of this roleplay, the main goal is to work through character interaction and the changing relationships with family members. There should be betrayal, there should be drama. This is concerning a very large sum of money after all. How do people change when confronted with something like this? Will they make friends in this strange environment? Stuff like that. This roleplay is largely character driven.
Have you read The Westing Game? If so, this roleplay is based off of that book. While it's not completely the same, many aspects and puzzles are based off of this book. You don't have to have read the book to understand the roleplay.
Anyways, I believe that's all for now! Thanks for reading, and I hope you're interested!

This is such a confusing premise, if you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

If there's an ample amount of interest, I will put up an OOC with more information.
Here's my White Queen, I hope you like her :O

I'll do my best to get up a CS tomorrow :)
This looks really interesting, may I claim the role of the White Queen?
