Many people have that one relative that's rich, you're not exception to this. Granted, you probably don't know him that well. You've heard rumors about him, saw him in the family pictures, and maybe you've even met him once or twice, but the point is, you're not close. Christopher Lovelle was always a mysterious man in the family, and wasn't the most popular. The only thing most people in the family knew about him was that he was a billionaire with no immediate family. He was known as eccentric, strange, and nobody in the family really wanted to be close to him. Which is why it stunned you when you received a letter informing you of his death. Why would you get notice of his death?

And why are you eligible to receive his entire inheritance?

Whatever the case, intrigued by the inheritance, you decide to participate in The Inheritance Game.

What awaits you is a series of puzzles that you must solve, and to win the inheritance, you must be the first to figure out the final answer. But of course, you're not alone. Competing with the members of your own family, you must navigate this game of greed, false relationships and distrust to outsmart everyone else. Who will you trust? Who will you abandon? Will greed win over your moral compass?

Roleplay Rules

• Swearing is allowed, but keep it in moderation.
• Characters cannot be a direct descendant of Christopher Lovelle because he doesn't have children.
• No godmodding. Period.
• Absolutely no Mary-Sues or Gary-Stus. Characters must be flawed!
• This is a high casual roleplay so please post a minimum of two paragraphs. While length is nice, quality over quantity! Do your best, I love reading people's writing!
• Please use good grammar. Although I'm not a grammar nazi, I would very much prefer good grammar that makes things easy to read. Too many grammar mistakes distract from the writing.
• Please try to post at least once every three days.
• I am your benevolent goddess... In this roleplay, at least. Listen to me, as my word is LAW! Yeah!
• Murder and death will be strictly prohibited in this roleplay. Acts of sabotage will be allowed in moderation.
• Use common sense and courtesy. No fighting in the OOC! We're all friends here.
• If you're going to be gone for an extended period of time, or you want to drop, please just tell me!
• You're allowed to discuss puzzles and clues in the OOC, but any knowledge gained in the OOC does not translate into IC knowledge. Please please please please PLEASE no metagaming!
• Say something in the OOC at least once in a while! I like to get to know who I roleplay with, I'm sure others do too.

The Inheritance Game Rules

• Everyone will receive puzzles. The goal will be to collect as many clues as possible to solve the puzzles and figure out who the "answer" is. The winner will receive the inheritance.
• The "answer" will be a person among the contestants. The players' goal will be to figure out who the "answer" is.
• Everyone is going to work in assigned pairs. Although cooperation is okay, you will not gain any additional money for lending aid to anyone.
• You must live on the Lovelle Estate during the game.
• People must come up with their answer and reasoning by the deadline.
• If no one gives the correct answer, the "answer" will receive the inheritance. Therefore, the goal of the "answer" will be to confuse the others and try to get them to guess wrong.

The Inheritance Game broken down and explained

The "answer" will be a character in the roleplay. Nobody will know who the "answer" is besides for the GM and the "answer" themselves. The person who is the "answer" will be more or less the antagonist of this roleplay, trying to throw everyone off. It's the goal of all of the players to guess who the "answer" is by the end of this game--that's how they win the inheritance. But the "answer" will be actively trying to mess everyone up, because if everyone guesses wrong, the "answer" will receive the money.

You do not have to be good at puzzles or mystery solving to participate in this roleplay. Although I would like you to at least try to solve the various puzzles, it would be unrealistic if everyone knew how to solve the puzzles and such. Remember, your character can be a clueless one, they can't all be the detective-type! I will be dropping hints about how to solve the puzzles in both the IC and the OOC.

This roleplay is centered around human relationships, even more than puzzle solving. While attempting to solve the puzzles will be an important part of this roleplay, the main goal is to work through character interaction and the changing relationships with family members. There should be betrayal, there should be drama. This is concerning a very large sum of money after all. How do people change when confronted with something like this? Will they make friends in this strange environment? Stuff like that. This roleplay is largely character driven.

I will select an answer based on what I believe would fit into this roleplay. Applying to be the "answer" doesn't guarantee you that position, but I will definitely consider it.

Important information for non-American residents

Many puzzles in this roleplay are related to books and other things that are considered to be common knowledge by Americans. For example, almost everyone has read The Scarlet Letter in high school english class, everyone knows the national anthem... Stuff like that. I'm not quite sure if any non-American has been exposed to some of the things included in this roleplay--because you might have, but I don't know--so as a participant in this roleplay, you (not your character) may be at a slight disadvantage. But I will do my best to provide necessary information to you, as long as you let me know if you need it. That is all!
