So, Descartes is missing in action, which I believe means this roleplay is on hold until he gets back, should the people in here still be interested in continuing whenever that happens

I was still intending to hop in next episode, whenever that may be.
The lowest level of cover will do, for me.
Mika ends up watching the exchange without interrupting Serenity. She didn't exactly know all that much about back alley weapons deals, so she'd better let the seemingly more experienced Serenity take the lead. She does speak up once the immediate situation seems resolved, though: "... Okay then. I guess it can't hurt to take a look, right?" No, wait. It definitely could hurt, if something went wrong. But oh well. Might as well give it a try anyway, Mika wasn't going to get herself much of anywhere by avoiding potentially dangerous situations at this point.
I'll try to get a post up soon. Been busy lately.
"If it's too heavy, that probably won't work." Mika wasn't really all that physically strong, and she'd prefer a weapon she could wield without resorting to psychic assistance. While she was capable of using something large or heavy relatively easily due to her powers, there was a limit on how much psychic stuff you could do at the same time. This was generally limited by how many things you could focus on, and having to keep psychic focus on her weapon at all times would reduce Mika's options in general.

"Well, I guess I'll need something a bit bigger for this one..." Thyr's hands blur again, as he returns the rifle to its holster on his back, and pulls out the Holy Caster. Once he's got the weapon out, he darts to the side, trying to circle around and flank the thing. As soon as it's distracted enough, Thyr raises the weapon and pulls the trigger. A (holy) grenade blasts out of the weapon, sailing through the air for the large monster. The paladin doesn't even stop to see if he hit, instead opting to dive behind some rubble. While in cover, he sets about quickly reloading his weapon.

Did you read what Serenity's wearing, Lindow? It's not what she's got on in her picture, that's for sure. She's dressed up for the casino... which she never got to.

Late but whoops. I keep forgetting to check the OOC. Probably doesn't change anything, since the topic of clothing hasn't really come up yet.
"Fair enough, I'm not really qualified to be talking about weapons anyway. I've only been in like one fight so far..." Mika almost winces at the memory. Though what she said wasn't entirely true by now, but she'd only been in one lethal fight, so details. Plus, rules one and two. "I'll hold you to that, though. I'd love to see how you make it, too." She grins a little while Serenity fiddles with the phone - it'd been one of her best recent creations, so she was moderately proud of it. She takes it back and puts it back into her pocket when the woman was done with it. "Looking forward to it. And, yeah. Let's check it out."
Mika ponders over it a bit, taking a moment to dredge up what she knew about weapons. "Don't modern construction materials reduce even reasonably large weapons to a manageable weight? Unless you're talking about added weight from additional systems or generators. Though bulk would make it a little bit of a problem, I wouldn't want anything too huge. Enough to get a reach advantage though." When Serenity asks to see the phone, Mika simply hands it over. It's made of a much more durable casing than you'd expect on a standard device, and it's clearly built from well put together quality parts. Also, if Serenity tried to turn it on, she'd find that it just didn't seem to work, though this was almost certainly some kind of security feature. "More general electronics than communications. Though this thing is pretty much a smaller computer at this point."
"High frequency spear with a head broad enough to slash as well as thrust would probably do the job. Though I am definitely interested in what you were talking about with the custom weapon, but probably not right now. And, uh..." Serenity's proximity was a bit distracting, she was going pretty heavy on the physical contact for someone Mika had just met. That said, Mika didn't really mind - at the least, it was nice to talk to someone friendly for a change. Especially when they had things in common: "Yes, I do. Probably nothing as impressive as the kind of things you'd make, but..." Mika pauses, reaching into her pocket and pulling out what looks like a smartphone. "I assembled this myself, for example. Wasn't really happy with any of the models currently on the market."
