For the next two weeks, I won't be on as much as I used to be. This may stretch far into the holidays as they come. I will still be active, just not as much as usual.
@Gin, I haven't implemented agi to speed yet, but I'm working on the equation for it. I've a few, but I didn't like any of them, plus they didn't work with higher level characters.
Shields? Of course there are shields, but they kill your Dge (set it to 0 regardless of +'s or stat gains).
I haven't yet figured out parry either. I've made an equation that works, and I like it. But I need to determine what I actually does stat-wise before I start using it in math combat. As far as the narrative side goes, if you can make it work, it's fine and I won't complaint about it. But until I've come up with a fair way to determine what it does to the attacker, I can't use it for math combat.
If you have any ideas on that matter, don't be afraid to PM me your ideas. If I like them, I will try to implement them somewhere in the game.
@Irisity, just make a character. Unless you posted in the wrong place and that was a mistake, you're welcome to join so long as your character fits the bill.
Yes. Because the amusphere isn't equipped with the tech to fry somebody's brain, it can't kill them, and due to other tech installed in them, it prevents incidents like 'not being able to log out.
I can't explain too much on this note though, because I would be revealing a lot of the story. Sorry.
Oh, sorry I must have overlooked that. I picked naughty because, she's not evil, but not good. I just couldn't think if a good enough word for it.
*fixes stuff*
That's neutral then. There are nine alignments that scale from lawful good, full neutral, and chaotic evil. But as far as naughty goes, I would put that with neutral evil, depending on the actions........... oh god. Why did i type that?
Real Life Story(job and living status is fine): Currently a computer programmer, and lives alone in a high security complex.
Role in-game:
Goes in unhanded, as this SAO allows unhanded combat.
Tries to draw the attention of all attackers slower than him.
Has unparalleled speed with his hands and legs. Everything else though? …………………
Why are they playing?: Honestly for the money. Even if the money is a lie, at least he feels that something good could come out of attempting the game.
Play Style Focus: If the story/lore is interesting, he will focus less on what he is getting and his stats. Otherwise, he likes stats and items more.
First the stats, which I seem to have missed that detail. I added this part above in the Stats section, but your points can only go into the first 6 stats. ATK and DEF are calculated after from those stats, because your armor and weapons can change them. Even in unhanded combat, your STR will still determine your ATK, it'll just be lower because it's not manipulated by a weapon.
Second, major plot hole you missed in the plot. You are able to log out of this game. If you remember from Kikuoka's visit to the player's house, the player's log does show him logging out and in multiple times.
Third, the weapons are fine, but that doesn't describe well enough the class they would be. I would assume that they would be considered duel-wield swords, since they can't be unhanded, as they are a weapon in themselves.
Fourth, Naughty!? I hope I'm misunderstanding that.
One more thing. Please post your CS in the Character section. Save on space for the OOC.
Timeline: Plot: end of GGO arc to Dec 1, 2030 RP Start: Dec 2, 2030
Plot: After Kikuoka's meeting with Kazuto and Shino, he left to another meeting. Unfortunately, he knew that Laughing Coffin wasn't done with their plans, which was the meaning for his next meeting.
As he arrived at his destination, he noticed all of the security, meaning that his contacts had arrived as well. He got through sec. checks and everything else they made him go through, then he proceeded to the meeting. When he entered the meeting room, his bosses were sitting on the far of the room, all 6 of them. "Kikuoka, you'd better have something this time, or you can kiss you job goodbye." One of the men in the back didn't sound too pleased with Kikuoka's efforts up to this point.
Thanks to Kazuto, however, Kikuoka slammed a file on the desk and slid it across the table to them. "Here it is. All the work done thanks to Kirito. And that's only one of them. It wasn't even PoH. Tell me to do my job, and your sources aren't even reliable." Kikuoka was understandably angry. Through sources known only to his bosses, they were 100 percent certain that the man in GGO was PoH, the leader of Laughing Coffin. Kikuoka continued his complaints, "And of all the people you had me use to find out that it wasn't him, you decide to bring Kirito back into this? He saved thousands and you put him in more danger like that?"
"KIKUOKA!" The closest man to Kikuoka made him stop his complaints on the spot. "Listen. We understand how you feel. Don't misunderstand us. We would have chosen anyone else who knew the people from that guild if we didn't think Kirito could handle it, and we would have chosen someone else if we didn't think it was PoH." All of the men had the look of sorrow on their faces, as if they made the biggest mistake of their lives. "Now, besides that, what did you and Kirito find?" Kikuoka shuddered for a second because of his boss's response to his complaints, then he quickly recollected himself and explained the files he gave them. "So then it's as we feared. Laughing Coffin is surfacing."
Kikuoka was confused. "Umm, it kind of sounds like you know something you're not sharing with me."
The men looked back and forth at each other, then they nodded their heads in agreement. "We've decided on your next task. We need you to find Laughing Coffin's leader, Poh. And we plan on giving you access to all of our contacts and information. So with that, you think you can get it done? ASAP would be preferable, but we just want them caught."
"I thought you would never ask." Kikuoka seemed relieved. He knew his bosses were giving the reins to him, so he could take care of the operation how he saw fit, meaning Kazuto and all of his friends didn't have to be involved. After the bosses and Kikuoka hammered out some details, the meeting ended and Kikuoka began his next job.
It's been a few years since then, and Kikuoka had a neat little "Task Force" of ex-SAO player who knew about LC during their time in SAO. Kikuoka sent all 15 of these SAO players into different games that had whispers of LC, and luckily, one of the games rose major suspicion. When Kikuoka tried to access the logs for the game, his computer became corrupt and literally began to burn. As this set flags off in Kikuoka's mind, his first concern was the player who went into the game. As he entered the player's room, he expected to find him dead, but he found nothing wrong. He checked for everything possible; forced entry, gas leaks, etc. However, he found absolutely nothing wrong. The next thing he checked set off one of the flags in his head.
Kikuoka made sure that each player kept a log of when they logged in and out of the game on a piece of paper or something to keep note of it in case the log files from the game were somehow erased. This particular player's paper showed that he last logged out on Jan. 3, 2029. It also showed that the player logged in again, obviously considering his amusphere was on and working, was on Jan. 15, 2029. The date at that time was Jan. 20, 2029. Kikuoka also explained to the Task Force not to spend anymore than 10 hours in the games. From all of the previous entries from this player, he knew that something was wrong, because the player had followed that rule to the letter, so his 5 days of being in the amusphere raised major concern. Kikuoka's last thought was to remove the amusphere, as he didn't want to do anything that might cause damage to the player's brain. Instead he immediately called for paramedics and had them set up an IV so the player wouldn't dehydrate. Beyond that and leaving round-the-clock guards near the player, there was nothing else Kikuoka felt he could do, so he went home.
When he got home, he found an older computer in his storage, got it working, and logged on to the roleplaying news website. He scrolled threw the usual stuff he would find every day, like player stats, leveling guides, new updates, etc. However, one of the newer posts caught his attention. It was an article about a video........... posted online by The Laughing Coffin Guild. As he read through, he understood why he found out why the player was still in the amusphere. Reluctantly, he played the video........
"Hello World! I'm sure you've heard much about us, but let me just say it out-right. We are The Laughing Coffin. Being as many government officials have been looking for us, it's been hard to move around in your world, so we came to a conclusion. Instead of hiding in the dark any longer, we've decided to recreate 'The Death Game.' Now I know some of you are thinking that you can't die anymore with your new found amusphere, and you would be right. Though, that won't change the fact that once you find out where we are, you won't be able to 'log out' of our world once you're dead. Also, I can hear all of you saying that you wouldn't want to challenge a murderous group of people just to bring them to justice. Well, let's hear you say that when I tell you that this world is exactly like SAO with a difference. Once you've beaten the final floor, you will end up with the 15 billion in cash we have stashed in your world. A little incentive to put your throats at my cleaver, I guess. If you really want to stop us, then come and get us. It's showtime."
The video turned black and stopped playing. Kikuoka continued to read the article and saw the name of the game, Safehold Assult Online: AfterMath, as well as a weird link at the bottom of the article. When he clicked the link, it opened a simple black page with three counters; one for number of players logged into the game, one for the number of "active" players, and one for the number of players killed. Under this counter was a list of names, all appearing to be the players that have died. Among these players, Kikuoka found the real-life name of the player he sent into that game. While he was on the page he saw the numbers:
Kikuoka spent the next few months gathering information and sharing it with the Task Force, and they came up with some interesting stories. They found some people who have died in the game, but even though they were alive in the real world, they came out of the amusphere as a vegetable. There were no signs while the amusphere was attached that there was anything wrong with the people, but they all came out as vegetable when someone removed their amusphere. However, for people who still had NERVGear, they would still actually die.
It is now December 1, 2030, and no one has beaten the game or cleared any floor higher than 20. Unfortunately, one of Kikuoka's Task Force remains. The numbers on the website:
No godmodding....... yet. It's the cardinal system. Anything is possible, but let's keep that at a minimum for now.
If you wish to play an SAO survivor, please let me know before hand. This goes hand in hand with the next note.
No matter if they were an SAO survivor or not, they can't have had any contact with the main characters of the anime. If you don't know who these are, look for it on google. Here's a link to the best list I can find.
When making characters, keep this in mind: you are allowed as many characters as you want to govern (preferably no more than two, unless you think you can handle more). However, you are only allowed to make one character that has a level higher than the starting level
EX: Link has one LVL 15 and one LVL 1. Having both of these characters is acceptable.
EX: Link has one LVL 20, one LVL 1, and wants to make one LVL 3. In order to make the level 3, the LVL 20 must die or quit the game forever.
There are no exceptions to the above rule. If you want that new LVL 2 or higher, then any other LVL 2 or higher you have must die or find another game to waste their life in.
One last thing. Since the game is based extremely on the old SAO, your avatar will look the same as your real life character.
UPDATE: Will all be narrated and determined by the GM, co-GM('s), and the players involved with the combat situation. It would be best
I would like it to be set so that every player gets a chance once a week to post if they can. So, for now only one post until every other player has made at least one post for every post you have made.
The post order will be as follows:
1. For one person to post, another two must post before them. EX.: link, Robo, Gin, link, Pudding, Rouge, link.
2. All players must have a chance to post, so the above rule is only for when there are 5 or more active players.
3. If the active players exceeds 8, then the first rule is null and void.
Natural order:
link23454
Gin
Robo27
Rogue Colm
If the above list is not to your liking, please let me know.
All players must wait for a player's turn in order. If the "active player" either does not post within the allotted time given, or wishes not to post, the next person in the list goes. No exceptions to post deadlines. If you can't post, make sure all players know why, and for how long(approximately).
Players may agree to change the post order at any given time, so long as the discussion is held within the OOC, and the GM has a fair warning, as the change will not be permanent, unless the GM decides so.(Don't worry. I'm not a dick. Discuss, and if I understand and/or agree with your explanations, I'll change it.)
Lastly, I'm making the deadline 2 days. I had it at 3 for a while and decided to reduce it by a day a while back, but I'm just now updating that.
My only piece of advice, I'm sure you've heard it before, is to have fun, because if you don't, then there's one of two things...
Either this RP was a waist of valuable time that I could have used entertaining a monkey
Or, you're just a prick and need to go.
UPDATE: I'm removing the stat system from this roleplay, but keep in mind that stats will still govern what your character can do in narrative.
Ex.: Your character focuses more on STR and VIT in order to tank through everything, quite literally. So in narrative, the character could break a wall that isn't naturally able to be broken, so long as it's not an invulnerable object.
Ex.: Your character focuses more on HIT and DGE, more so they can play an effective stealth class. So in narrative, they would be able to do, stereo-typically, what any assassin is able to do, within reason of course, as most buildings and areas have invisible walls and ceilings.
Str: Your basic offensive stat. It also has a little to due with determining your max hp, but not by much.
Vit: Mainly used to determine your hp and your defense.
Agi: Helps in determining your defense. (for now, I can't figure out an equation to use Agi in besides this. If you have any suggestions, please PM me.
Dex: Your second offensive stat. This helps in determining damage, and can also, depending on your weapon, can increase your ATK stat. Also helps determine any crit.
Hit: Literally, to see if you "hit" your target. Also help determine how often your character gets crit's.
Dge: Literally, how hard it is to hit you.
ATK: Main stat in determining your final damage.
DEF: How much your armor and vitality take out of the damage being dealt to you.
The only stats you will be putting points into are the first 6. ATK and DEF are calculated after those stats have been determined. <<<UPDATE: This will be a narrative effect, so no need to actually do it.
If you spawn your character into the game for the first time, you will find that your character is unarmed. However they will still have the armor. This is just to emphasize the unhanded side to the game. Once in the game, and after a little searching, your character will find their weapons. Probably with disappointment to the lack of choice.
If you are interested in playing, please make a CS and add it to the CHAR section. I will let you know if you are accepted and/or if anything needs to be worked out. I've helped the first two players with some general info their characters know already, so my help is not an exclusive service. Until the 'Join Status is changed, you can apply.
First and most obvious, no godmodding. Don't make yourself all super powerful and unable to be killed or do the same for someone else.
Also something another host pointed out to me for godmodding, don't control a character's actions that the GM makes unless he/she (in this case he) has already said what they are doing, and you are only able to repeat what the GM has already said they are doing. Don't know so much about this one, but we'll see what happens.
If a post deadline is missed, your character post will just be skipped, unless the situation relies on your character's actions. In which case, as many people as posible (or even want to) will do a post to best determine the best course of action for the 'skipped' player.
If you miss a lot of posts, we will need to discuss the course your character will take (death or otherwise) in order to take them out of rp actions. If it's not discussed and you continue not to post, I'll boot your character from the server for inactivity. Real world stuff will be determined by GM, whether the character lives or just quits the game.
If you wish to join in, as long as the status at the top of the thread still says 'apply,' you can just make a character and post it in the OOC. Please use a hider. Not required, just makes it easier to scroll the page. If you are accepted, you will be informed. Even if not, you will still be informed. I try not to turn away any player, so if your character doesn't work at first, I will let you know the issues so that you can fix them as best as you want, and we'll move from there. Hope this helps.
