Qualia: Steampunk Spies, School Life Scandals, and Eldritch Spice

I've read through a lot of what was written and even got some ideas with some of the things written in response to the questions here. I kind of have this idea of making a sort of stereotypical british man with top hat and cane - a sort of chemist prodigy. By day, burgeoning chemist genius, by night an assassin that takes the saying "Silent but deadly" joke of passing gas a bit too seriously.

However, I have other questions.

With regards to our origins like countries and organizations, do you have them preset or are we to make them ourselves? I'm kind of looking at making my man a rather young and questionable recruit from this worlds version of MI6.

Can Formulation be executed through any part of the body as long as there's physical contact? Does this also apply to Dynamicists?

For anyone who's still present, I'm sorry if it took a while for me to begin the story proper, but here you go. The first scene is literally just sailing across the sea. You can proceed to put us to shore if you want.

Troglodyte literally means 'cave dweller,' so yes, it can totally be an insult, although it's also the taxonic name for Chimps.

We named our gaming group Troglodyte and we shortened it to Trog. I should use "Trog" as a name for something or someone at some point.

Aurelion II and his Chosen sailed across the sea towards the mainland. He watched these crashing waves before.

"Fifty years ago I sailed to put the mainlanders in their place... Fifty years later, I would sail among them to help them take it back."

He watched from the bow as other ships sailed alongside them. Foreigners and savages alike. He scoffed at the idea of a unified Etherea. However, he could not deny that the enemy ahead of them was a force to be reckoned with. He turned to his Chosen and yelled at the top of his lungs.

"Carrusians! Prove your mettle once again and show these mainlanders how we across the sea fight like men!"

His chosen roared with cheer, their spears banging against the deck of their ship, their swords bashing shields, their feet stomping to the rhythm of the waves as they shouted.

"CARRUS! CARRUS! CARRUS! CARRUS!"

In that moment, all that was on Aurelion's mind turned to the mainland. He channeled his hatred towards the darkness as if hate alone could burn them all away. Solis Aurelion II, the warrior king, would march against this darkness and break it against his back. The will of his men could not only be heard by the ships beside them, but be felt. Carrus' chosen had released their primal savagery. Anything that gets in their way would feel their spears, their swords, their fists. For Aurelion, and Carrus' Chosen, there was no retreat and no surrender. There was only Victory or Death.

Physical appearance: He's 6'5", dark blue eyes, a full beard and full head of hair (both black as midnight)

History: King Aurelion II repelled many invasions from the mainlanders. His people were isolationists it was only natural. In his lifetime, he has fought many wars on land and at sea. He was most famous for not only defeating an army marching into his country, but sailing to meet the enemy fleet, beat them back to land, and continued to batter the enemy's army to make an example of them. To this end, Aurelion is also called the warrior king.

Equipment: Aurelion is equipped with a large shield, a thrusting spear, plumbatae (small, cheap war darts), and a short sword. His armor consists of a linothorax, bronze helmet, and bronze greaves.

Abilities: He's exceptional among his people. Many believe he's blessed by the gods with the strength of five men and the cunning of the god of wisdom. He is known to use earthen magic to aid in his battles and has used them to great effect to alter the terrain to his advantage.

Specialization: The Chosen are a new unit comprised of Aurelion's most trusted men. The Skirmishers were brought up as a levy of volunteers from the untamed highlands. The Heavy Infantry, drawn from the most experienced of his guard. The Engineers, drawn the smartest of the dwarves.

Description:

The Skirmishers are an assortment of different races. They're all equipped differently and bring to bear different missiles to hurl at their enemy. Half-elf slingers, Human javelin throwers, Dwarven Crossbowmen, Elvish longbows - they're all here to bear arms as volunteers for their people. All who have applied for this honor were tested by Aurelion and his chief officers.

The Heavy Infantry are drawn from the core of Carrus's guard. They're men who are drawn from the best of the rank and file to become royal guards, and further whittled down to the best the royal guard could offer. Aurelion himself handpicked each man from the 2000 Royal Guardsmen. Half-elf, human, and elvish men were chosen for this task.

The engineers are drawn from the dwarves best men. They are not only good fighters in close combat, but are excellent workers that can make a camp for five hundred men in less than three hours. The dwarves themselves make up the backline of the Aurelion's formation. They are there to fallback to when the core troops require assistance.

History: The Chosen are a relatively new formation. However, many of the rank and file have served with both Aurelion I and Aurelion II in many campaigns to secure the Republic's grip on their island. Many of these men even accompanied Aurelion II on his campaign to make an example of the mainlanders and are grizzled veterans as a result.

Country: The Kingdom of Carrus is an island nation that conquered the South Western continent. After many years of fighting and in-fighting, the Kingdom gradually became stable and isolationist. They feared that outside intervention could bring back the years of instability and as a result were actively hostile against outsiders. This did not mean that Carrus was against trade. It had a number of open ports, however, foreigners were treated with much caution.

Carrus eventually opened its doors after news of the darkness from their tradesmen reached the capital. It was decided by Aurelion II that he as an old king would march against this new threat and open its doors to foreigners for the first time in centuries. He would leave his son Aurelion III to watch over Carrus in his stead and appoint him King of Carrus.

I'll put my interest hat in here. I'll read up more on the world. The very fact that Princess Principal is here as an inspiration makes me want to consider this seriously.

I like how two of the species of apes is named Troglodytes. My friends have ruined that name for me because we use it as an insult. It's not even insulting, it just sounds insulting >XD
