I just got asked not to apply because I supposedly broke some rules that were hidden in the raw link text of the character sheet post.
Of course. You're not denying it, you're just leaving that detail out, making up a more sympathetic reason for rejection (after being informed in very plain terms on the OOC) and owning up to it once I popped on this thread to point that out. My mistake. Anyway, I honestly don't think this is a matter of the site becoming less lenient towards people passing off the writing of others as their own. Every accepted character was accepted because they clearly read the rules, as evidenced by the quality of their sheets and correct writing sample. If you didn't find the writing sample, you didn't read the rules all the way.
Furthermore, it might be impossible to view raw text on your phone, but to say you can't view raw text on a phone is a sweeping overstatement.
@World Traveler Actually, I was half of the discussion for your sheet's application, you were rejected because you copied and pasted your entire personality section from a Myers-Briggs test. Chacha on!
Eirread is easily the most inhospitable place in Magnaria -- A flurry of sleet, snow, and hailstones fall from the sky almost constantly, while on the ground geysers burst with lava, boiling water, and poisonous clouds of gas. Cuisine incorporates one of the four animals that can survive in the climate -- hares, horses, seals, and fish -- and the month of the lunar equinox is called "The Long Sleep" for the Eirra because they are unable to leave their homes without almost immediately freezing to death. Indeed, one would be hard-pressed to find a fouler corner of Magnaria, though the land is not without its own pleasant culture and customs. The Eirra are known for their baked goods, teas, stews, and seafood, as well as their many fables. Aside from their food and folk stories, the Eirra have a strong faith in their sun god, Yorgid.

The Eirra are a short, pale, wiry-haired race of men that have survived the arctic winds of their homeland for centuries. They are almost always black-haired, though dark brown or even sandy brown hair is not unheard of. The men and women alike frequently have unibrows or sideburns by the time they are adolescents, stereotyping them as a cartoonishly furry in foreign plays and stories. They have flat, round faces, with brown eyes almost permanently locked into a squint due to their country's strong winds. Because most Eirra are typically one missed meal away from malnourishment, they are a short, sinewy people, commonly likened to weasels or rats by foreigners wishing to call them something derogatory. They have diets that are high in meat, butter, and cheese, and have difficulty digesting large amounts of vegetables or grain.
Closer to The Cinderfields, one in ten Eirra are born with birth defects, and either adapt to their handicap as they grow or are "given to the sea elves" in the Singing Sea. Some of the Eirra do not so quickly shun their disfigurement; There is a banner house within the Cinderfields that has hereditary disposition to Ectrodactyly, and another to blindness.

Eirread, like many poor countries across the globe, keeps itself out of bankruptcy by spending very little. There is virtually nothing to trade in Eirread; Their crops, while edible, are hardly as large or as tasty as those grown in the south. Their mountains, while rich in salt, coal, and bronze, contain almost no gems or precious metals. Aside from their three small mining exports, Eirread has no other trade.

"Dutiful until Death" Eirread is too inhospitable a land to afford having incompetent or errant rulers, and so the Hafreks are notoriously serious about their duties as the country's ruling monarchs. Historically, many Hafrek kings have killed or disowned heirs deemed unworthy.

Yes, quaint and curious war is You cut a fellow down You'd treat, if met where any bar is, Or help to half a crown.
Before Gorgen Magnar sailed his fleet to the continent a thousand years ago, Magnaria was called "Kokuchembasha" by the short, cave-dwelling natives that called it home. It meant "Dirt Which is Precious" in their harsh tongue. He would only discover this as an old man after entirely subjugating their precious dirt and appointing scholars to translating the gibbering tongue of his subjects. Since Magnaria has been Magnaria, even for the first hundred-odd years when the imperial line had nary a throne or castle to put it in, the people of Magnaria have followed the line of Gorgen. First Gorgen Magnar, then Ardall Gorgen, then Ardall's son Kentam Gorgen, and then Kentam's son Otho Gorgen, and so on for a millenium.
Wars have been fought between the countries of Magnaria, but the line of the House of Gorgen has never been so much as questioned successfully, for the imperial army has always dwarfed the combined forces of other countries. The Gorgen Dynasty has produced unfailingly wise and benevolent emperors, or at least emperors wise enough to appoint wiser councilmen. The times Magnaria has seen invaders, it was always an Emperor Gorgen who lead the fleet of ships to the defense of his lands, and within each of the historical tomes, it is clear to see that the Gorgens have been responsible for nearly every major technological advancement. The unquestionable rulership of House Gorgen has been the backbone of Magnaria since its inception and until today, the first day of our story.
At first, the Gods showed their displeasure with a deep subterranean rumbling. Cracks formed in the soil, spreading into small ditches, which spread into canyons. The Earth shifted, tearing apart houses and roads as if the foundation they stood on had been replaced by water. For a terrible few minutes, the very ground was torn in twain, collapsing hills, villages, and most notably, the imperial castle. Every last Gorgen, from Emperor Taggart to his farthest cousin, soon found themselves crushed beneath the tremendous walls and towers that had kept them safe for sixty generations of sons. In less time than it took to bring a kettle to boil, the Magnarian Empire was completely erased from the Earth.
Chaos has stricken the quiet continent like a plague. In some lands, temples begin to overflow with panicked devout seeking answers. In others, blue-faced, swaying remains of lords and their families hang from trees, ripped from their bedchambers to be drawn and quartered in the street by peasantry, assured that law and order have left Magnaria for good. This chaos will quickly force Magnarian kings to send reinforcements to ransacked storehouses, their swords to quell rebellions, and align troops against those who now doubt their right to rule. But only days have passed since the fall of the imperial castle, and an unease malingers in the air. For the first time, Magnaria has no Emperor. The soldiers of the imperial army cannot report to their commander, because their commanders are all gone, along with their storehouses of armor and weaponry. In a few moments, all that the imperial line worked to accomplish for a thousand years was swallowed up by the dirt. Now, all that remains are five kings following a system of laws set up to give fealty to an emperor that is not there. In chaos, laws can only be followed for so long.
1. Be entertaining I don't need soliloquies describing a scene's atmosphere, but I believe that all posts -- even those only meant to further the plot or inform players of a PC's actions -- should be entertaining to read. If your scene is just two people talking in a closed room over wine, do some worldbuilding with where the wine is from, and whether or not that's a good thing. Give your characters proclivities and predispositions only revealed by their history/thoughts that affect their decisions, and pepper otherwise perfect, boring sequences of events with mistakes, ugliness, and human error. An exposition scene with two PC's can be a lot more memorable when in the midst of their discussing every country, they stumble on their words and make a joke. You get the idea.
2. Be cool I'm not gonna pretend that I'm some celebrated author worthy of respect and unquestioned deference, but I am the guy ostensibly "running" the roleplay you're participating in on a hobby writing site. I don't act like being the GM makes me worthy of your unquestioned respect (it does not) but we're all human, so let's remember to treat each other with respect. I figured it was important to include a rule like this to cite if we start bickering. Anyway, while I say what goes, I'm willing to budge for compelling arguments that fit in with my idea of the world I've set up.
3. Be here I'm not an ugly girlfriend, so I don't need all of your attention all the time. I do need to know you're still here and participating, since roleplaying is a group hobby that comes to a screeching halt if one member drops off the face of the Earth. If you've got life going on, you're on vacation, you're in the hospital, you just don't feel like writing, those are all fine reasons, just let us know as frequently as possible, in the OOC or Discord. Pop in for some banter. Put some text over a meme in MSpaint. Write some banner houses. Just, whatever you do, don't disappear for days. There's not that many of us.
