Suggestions are welcome if y'all notice elements that turn you off.

I'll be building these out a little more too to see if there's any interest.
I notice this roleplay is in the middle of reorganizing itself. Would this be a good opportunity for a newcomer?
Hello everyone! I find myself torn between two roleplay scenarios and so I would like to see which of them garners the most interest. Let me know which of the two below seem most interesting to you, and if you have any suggestions or ideas please do not hesitate to throw in your lot. If you are interested, please expect the RP to begin in about 7 days -- meaning, if you aren't the type to remain interested in a week, please don't bother.

Let me know what you think!

Assassin's Creed: The Eagle's Shadow

This roleplay would go mission-to-mission, allowing for various time periods and settings. Similar to the game series the story will exist in two plains -- the Present and the Past. The basic premise is that individuals with unique genetic memories are being hunted down and killed by a party besides the Assassins or Templars. Our Main Characters become aware of this impending threat, banding together for protection. They become aware that similar purges have occurred before, and so they look to the past in order to uncover the conspiracy and save their lives.

Eagle's Shadow would explore time periods according to group interest. While this exists in the Assassin's Creed Universe, players should enter with original characters and a taste for something new. It is entirely possible to play a mission set in Jerusalem following the death of Alaïr, in 1492 Firenze shortly after Ezio departs to España, or perhaps in a time not yet seen, such as early 16th Century China. The options are endless, yet every mission will offer insight into who is hunting the group in the Present. This will allow story progression on both fronts as well as exploration of each setting and character. Unlike traditional ACU stories, there will be no required allegiance for players (i.e. You can be loosely affiliated, or not at all, with the Assassins/Templars).

Pilgrims

This roleplay resembles that of old folklore, where heroes come and go as needed throughout the world. Pilgrims is set apart in that the backgrounds of these heroes are rich, and therefore, will often overlap and even contradict with another. The warrior who protected a village to the south may also be a villain to the north. That said, players will be have the opportunity to work and fight with one another as the world develops.

Because of the nature of this roleplay a variety of settings will be available. The world exists in a mythic state, where things are familiar to reality, just skewed in some areas. It is entirely possible to come upon a society that owes its success to ritualistic sacrifice, while another down the way has given itself entirely to science. Each chapter will be characterized by the setting, allowing players to adopt new equipment and explore their characters in an entirely new light (for better or for worse).
How is everyone doing? Was the 4 day gap too much for this group?

Great! How're you doing? I will follow the current turn order, but expect Icarai to travel north to Portland. I would expect Otto as well as he's an associate of mine. :)

Don't worry about posting order too much, though I appreciate you being considerate! I am doing well. Had my first television interview in this position, so that was a nice new experience. Didn't mean to be away from this so long. How are you? What have you all been doing this week?
Hey everyone, I have a few ideas for how to excite things for everyone coming into Portland. I'll be updating the OP as events happen in your posts or my own, that way we can keep up with each other on the large-scale happenings. Even if you do not personally interact with one another, if a large riot is seizing Portland, chances are you're affected or, even if you're out of the city, seeing it in the news.

How is everyone? Let's get the convo going again on here guys!

Portland, Oregon - Downtown
Morning, Light Rain

Only three others snuck outside the back of the shop with Perry. After creeping through a winding alleyway they reached the street where the tension began to thaw. Among them stood a broad shouldered, clean cut man in a leather coat, a woman with bohemian-style clothes draped about her slender frame, and finally, a mid-toned woman so sharply dressed Perry found himself staring. When the woman in the pant suit noticed Perry's prolonged gaze, the rest began to look about too.

"Hope you don't expect compensation," said the sharply dressed woman, her chin raising at 'expect'. Perry cocked a brow. "Leaving was as natural of a thought as any -- a good one, yes, but regardless. My thanks should be enough. Thanks."

Without another word the woman buttoned her wool overcoat jogged out from the alley. Between them, the three remaining simply watched with perplexed looks.

"Runnin' like that, ain't nobody's fault but hers if a soldier puts her down," the large man exclaimed with a shake of his head.

Bohemia tipped her head and stared daggers over her, her thin-framed, circle lensed glasses. "That a joke? 'Better keep it in low-gear else the pigs'll lay down the pain'. Fuck that. I'd rather get even than be some G-Man's little bitch," she retorted. Like an elephant set against a mouse, the man stepped back. "If all you're good for is playin' the vic you best keep walkin'. You too! Can't make eye contact, huh?"

"Tone it down," Perry sighed as he gazing into his watch. He knew for smaller riots a street team would start preparing a few hours beforehand. They usually gathered in a safe-house or some abandoned storage facility to assign objectives, if any, and escape routes, always many. With executions in the street he figured tonight's riot would be more than just some pep rally. "Do what you'd like. No matter what you do though, keep your head down. I don't think these guys think much past the trigger. I've got somewhere to be though. Y'all are welcome to join me."

Portland, Oregon - Portland City Hall
Mid-Morning, Light Rain

Deborah settled into a relaxed pace and unbuttoned her wool coat. Smoothing out her charcoal pant suit, she took a deep breath. A Renaissance inspired building stood four stories high to her side with another, much taller building just up the road. She knew both quite well, but had her eyes on the smaller of the two -- City Hall. Between her and the elegant wood entrance stood two guards with pistols strapped to their hips. As she approached, both men raised one hand, reaching for their side-arms with the other. Despite their aggression and the rain, Deborah reached into her coat, flashing a smile with such poise that the men paused. She flashed a small leather booklet to the men. Instantaneously their shoulders relaxed, their warnings now embarrassed beckoning for her approach.

Before making her way to the staircase a man had already taken Deborah's coat. By the time she ascended the stairs and came to the main hall's doors, the woman who stood ready to enter and the woman who just before had run blocks through the rain were far, far apart. Her mind, the shootings, and the rush dissipated and left her mind clear. She took a small breath, curved her lips into a smile, then entered.

"Madam, perfect timing. The first of the ambassadors are set to arrive this afternoon. I need your approval on this order so we can be ready for the conference tomorrow morning," a thin man explained too fast in what sounded as if a wheeze. "Madam, are you alright? It's not like you to be late."

Deborah glared at the man sharply before offering the twinge of a smile. He immediately lowered his head as if fearful. "Quite alright, but I assure you, I know far better what is and is not like me. Show me the order. We need preparations finished before the first ambassador arrives. How can you expect them to take Vault-Tec seriously if we can't have a simple banquet ready upon arrival? Oh," Deborah paused, and for a moment her poise broke and a glimmer or something appeared in her eye. "The city is growing rebellious. I need two soldiers for every ambassador should they leave City Hall. I know we did not budget for this originally, but it is important. See to it."

I'd be down to do this. How much support do you need exactly? A small fraction of us who are willing to participate will likely produce, but as long as WIPs are acceptable, I suspect you should have work being shown nonetheless.

Yeah, but we're not living in the 1300s anymore. Any fears that were the source of our mythology and fables isn't relative to our society any longer. Notice how people love werewolves and vampires today? Back when they were created, they killed people for allegedly being one of those creatures. The stories that survive today that were written dozens, if not hundreds or thousands of years ago, survive because of historical value or because they are good stories, not because we're terrified of what they represent.Nobody alive today knows of what it was like around the time where Europe was on it's slaughter happy Crusade binge, and nobody knows what it's like to have an equally powerful and enlightened Middle East in our modern world. It's not that people are scared of darked skinned people in fantasy, as you allege, it's just nobody really knows or appreciates the setting. Sure, there's always going to be the odd racist asshat, but on the whole we live in a pretty tolerant and understanding culture. We're more than capable of separating old myths and legends with reality, because otherwise we'd hear about ships disappearing and immediately blame it on sea monsters. Hell, most people don't read The Lord of the Rings and realize Tolkein wrote it as a "fundamentally Catholic story", as he described it. The messages and themes we take from it are decidedly different from the author's on the whole.Tl:dr Whatever the reasons a fantasy story or myth was written does not mean it applies to contemporary society. We tend to enjoy folklore and myths for entertainment value more-so than any perceived lesson or fear it's trying to instill upon us.

I'll definitely say you're right, thankfully, that a lot of the old meanings are changed. But they're not lost. A lot of those symbols still ring true to us, even if their meaning is merely in the general direction of the original intention. I mean, just look at the Apple of Adam and Eve. It doesn't actually exist, Jewish/Christian literature only calls it a fruit and I figure apple's probably aren't the first you'd expect in Africa/Western Asia, yet despite all that, an Apple today has this power as an image that harkens back. The meaning isn't quite the same today as it was before, nor is the symbol, but we still feel the gist of it. In the same way those old fairy tales still guide our stories now. And the old ways of painting those archetypes definitely show through. You don't have to be a progressive liberal to note the deep racism even Bruce Lee experienced in Hollywood, where colour is all too often exotified and demonized. The odd ball racist doesn't quite account for the incarceration ratios in America either. Overall, if the stories we use repeat from generation to generation, built from old biases, even if the cancer is dead, do you still want to raise your children around it? In all seriousness, I do agree that things have changed. We hide our judgements in small gestures, all too often unaware that what we are doing and saying is actually very hurtful. I really dig the idea of bringing some other mythologies and forms of entertainment like Dinh's suggesting for its freshness and willingness to explore something that defies some basic rules in Western society.

@Dinh: Never been to Ferguson, and while I'm aware of what's going on over there, I don't have to go 20 miles to see what our country thinks of other cultures.

I'm sorry. I just can't take this statement seriously.

I'll let Dervish take this one. I have nothing else to say.

Uh... okay. I'm pretty certain Dervish responded already, not that he needed permission, so, why post that you have nothing to post?

I will be busy and away from a computer until sat I will try to post when it comes my turn when I have a chance. Sorry for any inconvience.

Don't feel the need to wait a turn or what have you. Since you're tied to another person, if you can't finish a proper post make sure you communicate with your partner. Perhaps you can manage a bit of work and just post together, or something, so your mate isn't stuck.
