Kanbaru Otoko

"You know, guys, setting the dogs on us is usually the first sign you aren't welcome in an establishment. I'm starting to think we're burdened with a poor host if this is how she handles guests entering her home via interdimensional portal." Kanbaru's snark flowed with all the ease of her plushie's Water Echo, both weapon and it's aquatic shadow pummeling lupine flora with disgusting ease. These were nothing more then canon fodder after all, threatening only in how they drew attention from true threats and the weight of numbers pressing against you. Given castle hallways weren't that big, there was little to fear from the latter possibility.

"Really, not even a handsome butler to offer to take our coats? I'd take an innocent maid balking at our outlandish clothes." Her plushies settled across her shoulder as her empty hand lashed outwards, grasping upon all the water she'd splashed about pummeling wolves and raising them as a storm of skewering spines to mince what foliage was caught between them.

It would have been cool if a wolf wasn't smacked with such force it smashed a trench through her icicles, causing the water user to turn and balk at the feline being hovering around a shockingly aggressive Akiko. "Sheesh, kitty, did that Serei turn you into a battle maniac? I thought that was the knight's job, but now you've gotten another cat to boot!"
Lorelai De Windt

For someone so disinclined to learning magic- Or really, any form of higher education that didn't require repetition or brute force- Lorelai found that these classes on the finer points of magic served better as a relaxing story time. It was a touch ironic she chose to imbibe the hidden truths of the world like a child does fairy tales, but they fueled her desire to get out of the classroom and improve her martial skills. Her body practically hummed in its seat, having gone beyond recovering from her encounter under the blood moon.

She'd made a substantial breakthrough and itched to put it to use, her own shadow a poor substitute to a target who could think and react. Looking at her permission slip, it struck her that this might be a great opportunity to get her spoils forged into a proper weapon and get someone to break it in on. But before that, they did have to sort out who they'd be rooming with.

Naturally she found her eye drawn to the commotion of everyone fawning over Koyuki, her fluffy ears white triangles of hippieness personified that made the Dutch-Japanese girl strain to keep her hands from reaching out to pet them. That way lay inescapable depredation and endless petting! To save herself from that tempatation and the further enticement of the Yuki-onna getting awfully close to skinship, Lorelai quickly approached the least lily-like person in the room.

"Aurelius, do you want to room with me?!" The blonde asked, head bouncing and setting her heavy braid to thrash like a snake in the midst of swallowing it's meal. Her eyes sparkled with intensity, focusing entirely on the Pendragon heir with her hands clasped together over her school bag. "I don't snore and I wake up super early, so you can sleep in while I get my morning routine in. It'll be dandy."

Yeshua Sands - Terrorkeet

The avian GMG laughed in a stilted fashion, finding herself uncomfortable being propositioned by someone who- by all accounts- she owed both Setsuna and her own freedom to. Not that she was surprised by the interest, but the timing was rather poor, all things considered. Perhaps this was Utena's response to stress? Made as much sense any other response.

Taking the escape when she saw it, Yeshua darted to pick up the bottle of water with it's considerably bendy straw from her own bedside table- No surprise that the chained former-MFF officer wasn't provided one- and held it for Utena to drink while a newcomer carrying a familiar psychic fox walked in alongside a friendly face. "Oh, hey there, Fishcake. Agent Mulder. Umm, new person. Should I just go with Skully?"

The matter of nicknames for strangers was shelved with word of a new GMG attack, leaving the bird to quirk her head, struck by how oddly active everything was all of a sudden. She also recalled quite clearly how her last attempt to help went and found her heart quickening with dread to go out there again. "We wouldn't be so lucky as to have this sister show up faaaaaar away from where the MFF can deploy, would we?"

With Rose lollygagging and monsters already before them, Kanbaru shrugged and decided she may as well take first swing at the monsters. She noted the ones around her weren't exactly the most prone to violence, the new boy notwithstanding as a complete unknown, so it didn't seem anyone would complain. Giving him one last hearty clap to the shoulder she strolled past, head turned to give an appreciating whistle as she took in Akiko's strange new Serei hovering over her shoulder. Funny since she didn't see her summon it, but then again, there was a lot going on.

"Funny how the trickster wants things straight forward." She murmured with a measure of bitterness passing Caprice, and quickly channeled that ire into a Quick Dash forward. Kanbaru emerged before the nearest thorn beast and grasped her whale plushie with both hands upon its tail. Spurred by intent it was encased in water, creating an echo of the whale as she swung underhanded against her foes jaw. And while the physical blow was far greater then what such a soft weapon would imply, the water echo itself struck after, hitting with the force of surface tension like concrete against a plant wolf's jaw.

Much like a feline was want to do, Noire had fled from Kanbaru rather then let herself be lavished with attention. The white whale would have lamented this if not for the inn exploding with delightful chaos, everyone emerging at once, transactions to be had, choices made, and a new soul entering their wicked inn at just the right moment to get swept up in an adventure. It only took a forward tilt of the head for Kanbaru to dash off her bar stool, alighting beside him to clap Thomas on the shoulder with a grand laugh.

"Glad to see a fresh face joining us on this floor. You look like you can handle yourself, but if you need a hand, the name's Kanbaru Otoko, but I'm pretty chill so everyone just calls me Kanbaru." Her other hand came around, flashing him a victory sign around the plushie she grasped, idly twirling the body before trotting ahead, gaze turning back and forth to take in the spooky castle atmosphere. "I have experience with night time monster hunting, but I gotta say, this is my first castle and it's really living up to those Castlevania expectations of mine....saying that, I hope there aren't any medusa heads. All that jumping around sounds bothersome."

The rest of the school day passed by in a blur, Lorelai only semi-coherent thanks to the ball of energy in food form one of her instructors had so generously offered her. It kept her on her feet, nodding absently and managing to keep her eyes wide open long after the classes had emptied and she realized she had been staring at her shoe locker for twenty minutes, lost in the feeling of her forehead pressed to wood till a red indentation was pressed across her brow.

"Gah, it's too early to sleep!" The Dutch-Japanese shouted to the halls, an odd janitor looking perturbed the odd coat rack was actually a student all along, one that quickly thrust there shoes upon their feet and bolted out the door with a considerable haste. No self respecting student of martial arts could rest their head before the sun! What she needed was a large dose of sugar, preferably with caffeine, but in her haste she was rather directionless as she stormed the town by force.

While her eyes failed to take in any of the proper signage that would point her towards the treat she wanted, her eyes remained sharp and heard the yodeling of a food truck owner embarrassing their daughter. Yet it was his passion that resonated with the likely-unhinged student, her eyes watering as her shoes slid the remaining feet into line and she bounced with rampant energy, hands clasped together and held beneath her chin. It, naturally, disturbed several ice cream goers, but lost in her own little world she cared not for propriety, barely kept in line by a tenuous grasp of moral decency.

Only when she reached the front did she proffer a generous bill and beseech the father, "The largest scoop of today's special you can fit in a cone, please!"

Truly did her eyes cream that day.
Yeshua Sands - Terrorkeet

Setsu being the darling sister that she was let Yeshua have her hugs as long as a prickly feline could, the bonds of blood keeping the claws sheathed till Yeshua released the feline from her buxom. Yeshua's eyes shone with un-shed tears, restrained by the happiness of holding the feline close without the bonds of captivity looming over them. The primal rage that had fueled her escape was entirely absent, leaving the warmth of Setsuna's presence and a nagging regret for how barbaric she had treated the humans.

Except one. No thought of her passed through the avian's head without stirring a simmering need for retribution, but it was a revenge best differed as she realized they were still among company. Pulling back the curtain to an infirmary bed beside her, she found Utena had made the journey with them intact. "You didn't leave her behind. Aww, I'm so proud of you, Setsu."

Pulling the feline GMG along with an arm across her shoulder they hovered over Utena's bed, flashing her a bright, chirpy smile to counter Setsuna's perpetual scowl. "Don't worry, human, you're among like minded people. These HART folks all seem real friendly, and you aren't even hand cuffed to the bed so they must see you as the same. My real name is Yeshua, and this is Setsuna. Thanks for getting us out of there. I might have done some things I regretted if they'd tried to touch my baby sis."
Yeshua Sands - Terrorkeet

Waking up in a hospital would be a novel experience for a GMG, as they would rather avoid exposing themselves to any testing that might possibly expose them, it would have been interesting under better circumstances.

For Yeshua, the metal walls and ceiling of an airship only succeeded in provoking a rush of panic that had her flying out of bed and well on her way to hyper ventilating in a panic that usually preceded sharp feathers raining everywhere. Only the presence of Schrodinger in the bed beside hers curtailed Yeshua outburst, instead morphing it into teary sobs as she flung herself atop the feline GMG, crying out repeatedly, "Setsu!"

There was a violent ruckus going on in the private rooms that spilled into the halls, beginning with the sound of a boot kicking a solid wood door before engaging in what sounded like furious cat wrangling. At least, the cat sounded furious, with a low droning 'Weeeeee' sound coming through the halls, drawing closer to the tavern proper before Kanbaru appeared, one hand holding the tail of a massive, red whale plushie currently resting over her shoulder, while her other arm was curled around the midsection of Noire and hefting her onto a barstool.

"I'm really disappointed Noire. Not only do you leave home, but you don't even think to ask the bartender if she had milk before assaulting Rose and Ami? Come on, you gotta go for the low hanging fruit first." The now white haired Kanbaru chided the feline, seemingly familiar enough with her to not get skewered with wires, though the plushie did seem recently used....

"Oh hey, we have new floors to explore...wait, no, a new floor. Huh, they didn't finish the spooky one? Damn, we should finish that. Might be some useful vendors there who don't clam jam me." Kanbaru noted aloud, looking to the posters while signalling Cait over and pointedly ignoring Emilia's presence. "Can you get my friend here some heavy cream to drink? She's a big eater and I don't think we want her marking her territory around here when we can just keep her fed."
Lorelai De Windt

How anyone managed to find sleep after their ordeal the previous night was truly beyond Lorelai, the blonde managing to sit straight and look to the front of her class', but very little stuck with her. The longer the day went the harder she winced at the squiggles on boards, her hairs seeming to escape her braid and gain the appearance of unkempt quills, but she had neither the vanity nor the awareness to tidy up. Not that doing so would help given the numerous bruises she had to bury under bandages lest someone think was battered and makes a report to the main office.

Still, they had to show up, and it was time for a class she truly excelled at. Or, she normally would do so in Gym, but a pounding headache and the knowledge that the shards of an honest to god magic sword where in her possession kept her from really getting the Kenjutsu lessons down. As much as she enjoyed going through her drills, taking the time to cement it required so much time she'd lose out on her spear time. And really, she couldn't even do this kata straight without slipping out of form right now.

And Ninjutsu? Subtly, thy name is not De Windt.
