So apparently, business shorts are a thing that exists. All I can say is... why?

Been busy lately, courtesy of the guy who thought that it was a good idea to have 3 assignments and a test due in the same week.

Bio

Anyone remember the period a little after guildfall, when the site didn't have a lot of work put into it, the servers went down pretty often and people were moving out? We waited and waited until boom, Mahz made America the guild great again. That was about where I left off.

My mistake was trying to take on everything at once (and being cringy as hell but I mean come on). Well now I'm back, and better than ever.

And I'll be damned if I let anything get in the way of having a good time.

Alright, there we go. I need to sleep more or something. Post coming soon.
@hekazu Just a quick question: how many shields were in the room the hunters just left? I had Kenza pick one up, and then @lord of evil had Derrick pick one up as well, but then in Lord's last post it sounded like only Derrick had a shield?? Was there only one, or were there two?

I think it's only one, actually. I can fix my post real quick.
Sorry. I'm here if you'll have me. Left my chargers elsewhere and my laptop and phone died.

And I was just wondering where you went off to.
A short post which'll work for whatever we go with.
Derrick followed the others. He would've liked to take point but he didn't want to push past either. There would be plenty of room later on. Although if he thought about it, he sort of didn't want to be at the front so much.

He didn't want to admit it, but he was still somewhat scared of the Wolfwing, and the Jailor, and who-knew-what-else. He'd always hidden behind his brother when they went monster hunting, but now he was gone, and there was certainly nothing he could do about that. He supposed that it was Kenza who had a shield this time, but he felt bad for letting her be in one of the most dangerous positions. They didn't have the flexibility of numbers, so if one of them got taken out of commission, it would be a considerable loss. Derrick didn't exactly think he was useless but he wasn't exactly much of a leader, and he felt like the group's survival chances as a whole would drop less if he was the first to go down. With that logic, to maximize their survival chance, he should've taken up the shield himself and defended the team so that, even if he was wounded, or worse, the rest would have a better chance of surviving.

He knew all that, but he was still afraid. Afraid of the Wolfwing, the Jailor, and the strange magic that occupied this fortress. Ultimately, though he didn't exactly want to admit it, he was sort of glad that Kenza had picked up the shield. It made him feel safer, but also anxious. He was anxious because if Kenza went first and encountered something that put her out of commission, it could spell disaster for the rest of the group.

Nevertheless Derrick decided to trust her judgement. He tightened his grip on the halberd and powered on.
@Dusksong@Hekazu
@Dusksong I'd vote to go downwards. Dunno how the jailor got ahead of us but I'm going to assume that it was assuming that we'd keep going up.
Derrick checked the heft of the halberd, turning it this way and that, feeling how it weighed in his hands. He'd never used one before, but from what he'd heard it was something of a spear combined with an axe. It was a lot longer than any axe he'd seen, but it had a sharp pointy end, so maybe it wouldn't make that much of a difference.

He practised a few stabs towards the wall a few times. The weight was quite different to a spear, but he could get used to it. He noticed that Kenza was by a suit of armour, gesturing towards it, and he considered it for a moment. A helmet was definitely a no go. He'd tried one on once and it was like wearing a bucket on his head. He just couldn't get used to it. A chest plate would've been nice, though. He was still feeling that wound he'd been given by the wolfwing, and it hadn't even been a particularly heavy one. But then again, maybe it wouldn't be good to have a cumbersome metal chestplate on. And besides, it looked like it was a bit big for him.

Lastly, he thought about the gauntlets and the shoes. The shoes wouldn't do any good - if the Wolfwing was anything like other dogs, it probably had a good sense of hearing as well as smell, so clunky metal shoes wouldn't do well. But the gauntlets would probably work, probably similarly to his working gloves. Derrick decided to pick them up and try them on. They went on fairly easily, although they were a bit large on him.
"It'll do." Derrick muttered.
This wasn't exactly the time to be picky.

Now Derrick had a halberd and a shortspear, although he figured he could only use one. He turned to mistletoe, one hand wrapped around a halberd, the other around a shortspear.
"Um..." Derrick said hesitantly.
He remembered that Mistletoe had favoured lighter weapons, but the halberd was clearly better than the shortspear, so he wasn't sure which one to give her.
"Do you want to...?" Derrick began awkwardly.

I'll get my post up tomorrow. I was doing homework and stuff. It was painful.
Finn was a little bit annoyed. Fighting a tank was a once in a lifetime opportunity and it'd been spoiled by his worst enemy: crowd control. Still, he wasn't as annoyed as he could've been - the snacks had helped to calm him down. Although he wasn't particularly annoyed anymore, he was rather bored. Thomas had gone home already and the rest of his friends were cleaning up after the festival. And he was beginning to feel a bit thirsty...

Out of the corner of his eye, Finn spotted the perfect thing - A cafe. A Purple Crown professional one, to be precise, rather than the festival fare he'd been having so far. Finn entered and went to the counter, ordering a vanilla milkshake. You could always tell the quality of a cafe by the quality of their milkshakes. As Finn waited for it to be done, he spotted a vaguely familiar figure appear outside the window. Finn narrowed his eyes at the black haired figure. Aaron Fletcher, someone he vaguely knew in relation to Emma from the Newspaper club. He didn't know him particularly intimately, but he knew him enough to at least wave or say hello. Which obviously meant that he should go further.

Finn turned to the counter and asked the girl to change his order.
"Sorry, but can you give me that milkshake to go?" He asked.
A few seconds later he had his vanilla milkshake, and he walked outside to where Aaron waited. Finn crept up on the boy slowly, trying not to alert him to his presence, before suddenly jumping forward.
"Aaron, my man, my brother, my super special little guy, it's good to see ya!" Finn said, draping his unoccupied arm over the boy. "What's a stud like you doing in a place like this?"

Apparently it's been 3 months since this started. Probably my longest running RP with this kind of response rate.
