I posted my character in the tab, let me know if he is accepted and if you want me to change anything.
Appearance: At first glance J.J. Grimm looks like a western scoundrel, a lowlife drifter from the slums. His clothes are aged and dusty and worn from his travels. Underneath his unkempt appearance lies a healthy man, underneath the chiseled face, and penetrating coffee-color-eyes, one can see a thinking man looking back. J.J. rarely combs or cuts his beard, other than the occasional bath when opportunity presents itself, he is not a man who cares about his appearance. He stands tall at six-foot-one, and his solid, compact physical frame can be attributed to the hard work and the harsh environment abroad. His body is a canvas of tattoos and scars of his life’s journey. His tattoos are symbols of the hearts he’s broken, and the scars are records of his troubled life. Most notably is the most recent scar on his left temple, a reminder of an encounter with a drifter that nearly claimed his life. Name: Jonathan James Grimm (J.J.) Age: 29 Gender: Male Occupation prior to apocalypse: United Planet - Environmentalist (South Africa) Family: Partner left behind abroad. Parents live in Georgia, their survival status is unclear. Education: College/Environmentalist Skills: He knows how to use a gun, more importantly he knows how to kill. He’s a fairly good fighter though not the most fair. When it comes to defending his own life anything goes, including an unsuspecting knife to the back, or even a welling of tears if he needs to. His background as an environmentalist has taught him how to care for the environment, agriculture, preserving natural life, building infrastructures, and obtained some knowledge of medicinal flora. Additionally, he has basic emergency rescue skills that he gained at the Red Cross training courses. Fears: He can’t help but think that his family and loved ones are dead, and this fear eats at his soul daily. He is struggling with the realization that the world will never be the same ever again - there is no normal anymore. He fears losing his humanity. He fears losing his mind. Disadvantages: He has no loyalty but to himself, and this makes it difficult for anyone to trust him. Morals/religion: J.J isn’t a religious individual but he is spiritual, he doesn’t pray he meditates. He believes in nature, and strangers may think he cares more for the flora and fauna than he does for human life. But that isn’t true. Main weapon: He mainly uses a machete to eliminate munchers, and is often with one in hand. So, I’m going to say that this is his main weapon. Secondary weapon: He carries a standard police gun that he took off a corpse (he also took the badge so he may say he was a cop), and only has one round of bullets. Equipment: J.J. doesn’t have much to claim except his secrets, the little possessions, trinkets and gadgets, and momentums he deems valuable. A dump pouch for his travels, a pocket telescope, an LED flashlight, some cable rope, a pocket blade, and a watch - which he cleverly ensconced inside his gear. But his obvious possession is the necklace of beads around his neck. He is often seen touching them if only to remind himself that he still has it. Personality: J.J. has been many different versions of himself through his journey. He’s been a soldier, a brother, a lover, a killer, a thief, and along the way the one true factor that he can count on is his resolve - he has adopted a survivors mentality, living day to day like is his last. Accepting the madness of his choices without remorse - though rarely relies on impulse, preferring to think carefully before he acts, his actions always are to his benefit. He is nothing but a man trying to survive the times he lives in. There is a saying that you cannot teach a dog new tricks, while that may be true, even the wildest dog won’t bite the hand that feeds them. Strangely enough this is how J.J. works. To win his loyalty all one need is to protect him even from himself, but if you betray him he will strike you like a cornered snake, quick and deadly. Bio: He is the only child of Marge and Thomas Grimm from Georgia. He didn’t have the best relationship with his parents growing up, he was a wild child often getting himself in mischief. He was arrested at the age of 15 for possession of illegal substance. He served two years at Georgia’s juvenile facility, incarcerated at the request of his parents into a rehabilitation program for delinquent youth. He served his time and surprisingly changed his ways after the eyeopening experienced. He graduated with standard credits and attended the Georgia State University in Atlanta, even though he was from Athens. It was there that he developed a passion for the environment, mostly credited to Professor Chadwick, a woman he would later on have an affair with. It was Chadwick who introduced him to United Planet. He joined United Planet, a non-for-profit organization that offers volunteer work abroad as part of his studies as an environmentalist. She told him it would be a good experience for him, but her goal was to end the affair, something he failed to realize at the time. He was sent to Costa Rica. There he met Jock, a french student also an environmentalist, and the two developed an easy friendship that went a step beyond good friends. The two were inseparable and for a time J.J. was happy. But Jock got transferred and that was the end of that. J.J. Saw the world as a volunteer environmentalist with United Planet. Coming home only for a week or two and feeling like a stranger in his own hometown. He often complained about the damaging pollution of the environment, the excessive waste of food, and materialistic dependency most Americans live with. He’d get angry at how ignorant most people are to what is really going on around the world. And so he would leave again to do what he loved believing he was making a difference in the world. Then it happened. People were coming back from the dead and nobody knew what was happening until it was too late. At first he thought it was some sort of outbreak that had plagued the remote village in South Africa where he was stationed. His supervisors quickly got everyone out and sent them back home. He knew nothing of what was happening in the USA, but upon arrival he was forced into quarantine by the military. Then someone die in the facility and all hell broke lose. People wanted out, and at some point a riot exploded and somehow he made it out. He has been trying to get back to his hometown since. Addition info: He is bisexual. Additionally, he has 72hr of rations in his pouch, a water filter, first aid survival kit, dry sack with rain jacket, and rolled up sleeping bag.
Interested! Working on character sheet. I think the dice role adds to the roleplay, it adds the element of fate to the roleplay, think about it; we will be playing in a real life setting and like real life death can come at any moment. However, we should discuss how it would work beforehand. My suggestion; When the group encounter a horde of walkers, there can be 3 options 1)Survive 2)Infection 3)Death - once GM uses "Thrill Me" it will randomly land on a number. 1) the group survives the attack with no casualties. 2) the group survives the attack but someone in the group becomes infected. 3) the group survives the attack but someone in the group dies in the battle. If 2 or 3 is landed, then GM and participants can vote on which character in group is most likely to die or become infected (unless someone volunteers). The player whose character is chosen can restart a new character and rejoin the group again.
