Can't beat my own demons, so I beat up fictional ones instead. It's fun!

There could be a hundred hours in a day and I still wouldn't get around to half the things I need to do.

Something about winter makes me want to curl up on the couch, wrap myself in a blanket, and join way more RPs than I have time for.

This is the kind of site where you think about it every day even if you haven't actually done anything here for months. Or is that just me?

Bio

Luminosity

Hey there! Thanks for stopping by. I'm Luminosity, but feel free to call me Lumi or Lum. If you're here, I suppose that means you have some interest in me, my writing, or in roleplaying with me. Here's a bit about me and my preferences. In general, if you want to talk, about RPing or anything else, just shoot me a PM. I always try to make time for new friends.

About Me

Basics

I'm in my 20s, female, and currently trying to figure out how that whole "being an adult" thing works. I've been roleplaying on this site for a while off and on, but in general I've been roleplaying for over ten years, here and there. I'm on US Central Time currently.

Writing Level
My writing level on this site varies from casual to advanced, though the sweet spot is usually around 3-5 paragraphs per post. If I'm feeling inspired I tend to write kinda long posts, so be warned. I've never been a free-level roleplayer, and writing that little per post is typically something that makes me lose interest.

Activity
I love RPing, but I am busy quite often, and so my posting rate will vary. Sometimes I'll be able to post multiple times a day, and sometimes I won't be able to post more than once a week. Please keep this in mind if you'd like to RP with me. Also that more applies to 1x1's, I do my best to be consistent if I'm joining a group RP. My normal writing times for RP are first thing in the morning or somewhat late at night, but sometimes I can squeeze posts in during the afternoon.

Preferences
I'm mostly into fantasy RPs with a good dose of adventure and action, especially dark fantasy settings. In terms of mature content, I prefer a certain level of realism, and I'm totally fine with language and gore (I actually really like writing fight scenes). I'm happy to write romance, but I really prefer not to force it or have it be the main focus of a roleplay, but rather something that happens naturally if it feels right for my character. I've never written smut/sex scenes without fading to black, and it's not something I'm especially interested in trying. I enjoy group RPs as well as 1x1's, and while I've GMed in the past, I don't do it very often now, due to stress and time constraints.

I really only RP as female characters here, as that's just my personal preference. I write all kinds in lots of genres in my personal work, but I RP here to simply write what I enjoy most. I'm fine with taking on minor characters or NPCs of any gender if the RP needs it, though.

Games

Do You Play League of Legends?

I used to! You can probably guess who my favorite champion is. I haven't played in a long time, though, since I was never very good and ran into one too many unpleasant online experiences. I still follow the game for all of the amazing art and characters it produces, and I'm interested in the upcoming titles in that universe that aren't MOBAs.

So What Do You Play?
Lately? Apex Legends, Mortal Kombat 11, Final Fantasy (VII, VII Remake, VIII, XII, a real FF trip lately), and Resident Evil 3. Honestly, not a lot lately, just haven't had the time/interest in anything for a bit.

That's about it! Thanks for the interest, and if you want to get in touch, don't hesitate to send a PM my way. See you around :)

Hey all :) Been reading up for a while, and I think I'm finally ready to jump all the way in, and make a character. Seems like we could probably use someone that can heal people; I imagine these characters will be getting beat up a lot.

In any case, going to start on the CS. Couple questions for the GM, though: first, for the combat system thing we have, it says "Every attack on a player character causes HP to be lost." I'm assuming that means only attacks that hit? Are you leaving it up to us whether attacks hit our characters or not? Second, would a long-sleeved shirt of chainmail, covering the body from the waist up, be considered light armor, or not count enough and be considered no armor? I'm fine with either, just checking.

Lastly, I think I'll be creating a semi-religious warrior-priest order, if that's cool. Involving fair amounts of fire and healing magic. Hopefully I'm not swiping anyone's idea out from under them.

When Master Yomdi had stripped himself of all of his outer layers of robes, leaving them swirling in the air, and Keystone had unleashed a massive belch that seemed to vibrate her bones, Persephone was left wondering how she'd gotten here. It had seemed like such a simple thing at the time, to go up to the temple and inquire as to whether or not Keystone would be interested in a job. Maybe she'd spend a minute or two collecting her thoughts in the peaceful environment of the temple. She hadn't expected this, but then again, she found that rarely did her life go as expected.

"Agreed," she said, nodding to Keystone. "Hopefully Lucan's managed to rope in some more help." There certainly was an odd variety of skilled individuals about the hamlet. They could make a powerful group, though there was no guarantee they'd work together well at all.

"And thank you, Master Yomdi, I'll try that next time I practice. I'm sure I'll catch on soon enough." She liked the idea of using her hands with it, as she did a similar thing with her healing magic. A visual focus did indeed seem to be of use to her, in focusing her ability or some such.

Bowing for the master, Seph joined up with Keystone in departing the temple. If she was bothered at all by any residual effects of his impressive belch, she didn't show it. Well," she said, half grinning, "I guess you learn something new every day."
Wow. It is never dull in here :)

Sorry for the delay on my post. I hope to have one up by the end of the night.

Seph held the apple she'd been given in one hand, turning it over and examining, despite her better judgement. She didn't really want to know where the thing had been. It didn't look rotten, at least, and she wasn't being asked to eat it, so that was something. The chestnut whistling by their heads had been pretty impressive, but how long had Yomdi practiced? He claimed the skill could be learned quite quickly with an open heart and mind, but in Seph's experience, nothing came easily. Maybe for other people it did, but not for her.

Still... it couldn't hurt to try. She listened carefully, tried to pay attention to her own breathing. She looked up, to where the apple would be when she tossed it, she thought about how the breath in her felt, how it sat in her, where Yomdi had placed his hand over her. "Okay... here goes." She loosened her shoulders a bit, took a step away from Keystone and Yomdi in case anything went wrong, and took a few deep breaths.

She inhaled, tossed the apple up into the air before her, and watched it closely as it rotated around. At the height of the toss she let the breath go, parting her lips slightly, imagining the way the wind might curl around the apple, and hold it up...

It fell straight down the floor and splattered into a number of pieces. Seph looked down at it, her mouth still slightly agape, before she kicked a piece off the toe of her boot, and laughed a bit awkwardly at herself. "You know... I don't think I've ever done anything right on the first try." Even her healing, her strongest gift, had taken months and months to become even slightly proficient in. "I'll, uh... I'll clean this up."
@Lady Amalthea Where did the axe come from in your last post? I thought Keystone threw a nut.

Seph was beginning to suspect this Yomdi wasn't quite right in the head. For how old he was, he was acting very much like a child, dragging his two guests down beneath the temple, after they'd both stated their intentions were merely to collect their thoughts, and then attempting to teach them or perhaps just demonstrate some power he had with breathing. Harnessing wind, breathing through every pore... Seph didn't doubt it could be done, or that this guy was quite proficient at it, but it sure seemed like something that would take a very long time to learn, let alone be able to use practically. Considering that they were both leaving in the morning... she couldn't help but be reminded of a child coming up to her, grabbing her hand, and saying, "look what I can do!"

"I... think this might not be the best time for training," she said, gently. "We've got a long day ahead of us tomorrow, and I was hoping to get a good night's rest." She glanced over at Keystone. "But hey, if you wanna throw something at the guy, be my guest." Seph had a feeling she knew what was going to happen. Something that probably ended with the old man laughing excitedly and trying to get them to take a shot at it next.
Sure, I can. Probably sometime tomorrow.
Don't think I'd have more than a line to add to Seph's scene, besides like a perplexed look or something. Keystone asked the obvious question, so I'll pass this round.

"Absolutely," Seph agreed. "It's very beautiful. My name is Persephone. A pleasure to meet you, Yomdi." He did seem... a bit like a withered old man who probably should have been resting somewhere and letting the younger souls tend to the temple business. But at least he was a nice old man, which was far from a guarantee, especially at this hour.

Keystone's interest in her was... understandably related to fighting and combat, but maybe a little disappointing all the same. If they were exchanging techniques, it would probably be her benefiting much more from the trade. She doubted she could teach him much that he didn't already know. Perhaps he wasn't experienced with staff work. She could probably teach him a thing or two about that, if they could find a suitably sized weapon for him, but as far as hand-to-hand went, Seph typically had to find ways around her disadvantage in strength. Dirty tricks, less than "honorable" tactics were often what got her by. She wasn't too proud of it, but fighting wasn't something to be proud of in the first place, in her opinion.

"I don't know how much I could teach you," she admitted to Keystone. "My training was never really finished, and I was always a better student than teacher besides. But I can try, sure." She probably would've preferred to share something about her healing, or other practices she'd started picking up, but sadly, her gift wasn't really something that could be shared.

"Robes kinda give it away, don't they?" Seph said, smiling up at him and tossing her arms briefly out to the sides. He was a very large man, standing almost a foot higher than her, and probably weighing nearly double her amount. He certainly looked like the fisticuffs type himself, and like he was both experienced and good at it. "I trained at a temple near Ravens Bluff. I'd be there still but, well... just wasn't in the cards, I guess."

She took a look around at the temple. It was calm, quiet, peaceful, pretty enough she supposed, though there was little in the way of majesty in a small town like this. It didn't feel much like home, though. She looked back up at Keystone. "I'm a healer, mostly. A bit gifted at it, or so I'm told. Cremwise thought I'd be useful, and I was just passing through regardless, so I figured I'd tag along. He's leaving tomorrow morning, headed through Orcish territory, hence the need for the muscle. I would've pried an exact amount from him, but there was a bit of an incident involving the innkeep's stomach contents... and Cremwise's face." She cringed at the thought, though in her eyes there was the smallest glimmer of humor. In all, it had been a terrible and unfortunate sequence of events, but one of those things where it had been difficult to look away.

"He's got the funds, though, I'm sure of it. I've got some muscle, broken some bones with my staff here when called for but, uh... well, you've got quite a bit more. Muscle, that is. So what do you say?"
