Sera Arrior
"Fight or make room for those who will."
Name: Serra Arrior
Age: 19
Personality:
Sera is a strange girl if nothing else. During her particularly sheltered upbringing Sera spent most of her time reading books and imagining stories about the what the world outside would be like which leaves her at a rather strange juxtaposition; she is very intelligent, but she knows very little about the world or the struggles that people face. Instead, everything is layered under a seeming layer of childlike innocence and occasionally just downright ignorance. Being the prodigy of the Arrior family also left Sera with somewhat of a superiority complex and a strong obligation to her duty. She knows that she and what she has to accomplish are incredibly important and is often caught making decisions around what is best for her and her own goals. Although she is never deliberately cruel, she certainly takes an ends justify the means approach.
A product of her environment and the conditions she was raised in Sera is fiercely independent, pugnacious and fierce but also hot-headed and stubborn. Her tough exterior comes with a strong sense of justice and loyalty to those who have shown her kindness. Unfortunately, this also means that Sera is often prone to making rash and reckless decisions, starting fights, and generally pretty impulsive behavior – especially if she finds herself in a tense or heated situation. Sera also has a very hard time hiding her true feelings and is often too honest with those around her occasionally causing upset or awkward situations. Despite the fact she can be so troublesome her intentions are usually pure of heart and she does truly true to make friends.
Growing up around magic left Sera in awe of all the powers that it bestows upon those that wield it and she genuinely believes magic is the best thing that could ever happen to a person. So much so that she is often irritated by people who misuse magic or aren’t appreciative of their gifts. This one-sided attitude prevents Sera from seeing other people’s point of view about the negative consequences of magic or how it has caused them suffering.
History:
The Arrior family of mages has been one of the longest living clans in magician records. They are also one of the largest and most well-respected houses among the magic community as well. Many powerful mages have come from the Arrior family and their powerful magic has always done well to impress. Initially working alongside fellow magical families, when the bad blood between the mages started eons ago, they began to slowly siphon secrets from the other houses by sending in spies and other nasty trickery. Although the Arrior had a lot of completion back in the day they were successful at eradicating some of their biggest competitors and this eventually led to the famous Arrior Archives, essentially just an official name for what is a huge library of all sorts of magical scriptures, books, scrolls or nearly any piece of information about magic you could want. With dedicated students spending all of their time reading and studying it allowed them to be the forefront in the magical world and despite its success Arrior upheld all the vows of any ideal mage family; maintaining a consistently favorable position in the magic community.
Unfortunately for Arrior, Runemagic was invented and the tables began to equalize. Magicians no longer needed to be exceptionally gifted students or have overwhelming magical potential and talent to access the true powers gifted by magic anymore. As time went on and Runemagic became more successful and powerful the Arrior family lost its previous claim to fame - despite still producing strong and capable mages the gap was now much more fillable by other families and several other great powers rose up. As time passed into the current modern ages the Arrior family maintained its favorable standing in the magic society, but generations of greed and resentment festered.
Sera was born along with five other children her age, the next generation of Arrior, but unlike the other children her age, Sera showed incredible latent mana and magic potential from very early on. It didn’t take long for her family to decide that she was the prodigy they had been waiting for – with Ragnarok not too far away they had time to mold the young girl into the champion that they needed for victory. Then when they had the power of the wish the world would soon remember the Arrior family and magecraft for what it was.
Sera herself was locked away and started studying. All of the information found within the Arrior Archives was useful, but it mostly worked with Sera’s imagination for her to paint the world she never got to see. She often wondered what was out there, when she would get to go on the adventures that many of the mages in the records she read about went on. Trained in the most powerful forms of magic that her clan had on record it wasn’t long before Sera was a force of a mage; considerably stronger than her peers. But, despite possessing a lot of raw power Sera lacks restraint.
When she turned 19 she was finally granted some freedom since her mentors were certain that she had mastered more or less everything they had to teach her. The rest had to come from her own studies and experience. Now set loose on New Sealand, Sera is finally ready to start seeing the world and making some friends. All she has to do first is with Ragnarok. It can’t be that hard? Right?
Magic:
Sera utilizes magic which allows her to convert her mana into a physical energy. The Arrior magic which is incredibly versatile and each mage wields it differently. For the most part, Sera uses her magic offensively. With the runes tattooed up and down her arms, legs, back and naval she is able to convert her mana into this energy and manifest it into a physical form. This can be in the form of powerful blasts, energy beams or weapon constructs made of energy. The possibilities are exponential. Sera wields her magic mostly as an extension of her body; firing out energy blasts to accompany her punches, wielding a sword made of this powerful energy or firing a volley of spears at her opponents.
Another application of the Arrior magic is utilizing this energy to heal and revitalize. Although Sera is a studied healer, by her own admission, she has a way to go in this field yet. She is able to use her energy to heal in a similar manner to that in which many holy men heal with their own magic, however, Sera is a slower healer and requires more time and concentration in comparison. The big advantage of Sera’s healing abilities is that she is able to use them to help guide the inner energy of her patient. This allows her to guide the healing process, as well as undo some of the negative effects of magic on the body and other helpful things.
Yggdrasil Seed:
The Yggdrasil Seed passed down in the Arrior family between the most powerful mage of generation to the next has always been a defensive ability in nature - although it differs between each person, Sera was given the seed and the abilities of an Einherjar as the most powerful mage of her generation. The seed itself manifests in Sera's strong personal sense of justice and provides her with an extremely powerful shield with which she can protect her ideals. The large shield is an extremely powerful magically enhanced barrier which is virtually impenetrable when it is at full power. The shield is large enough that once it has materialized it could cover a good group of people if necessary. The Yggdrasil Seed's main weakness is that it draws its power from Sera's sense of justice and belief that what she is doing is right. When this belief is high then the Yggdrasil Seed is incredibly powerful, but it dwindles in power in tandem with Sera's belief. Should she not believe that what she is doing at the given time is not at all righteous or morally correct then she is unable to summon the shield at all.
Notes:
- Despite her tough attitude and age Sera is afraid of the dark.
- The runic tattoos on her naval are mostly for cosmetic purposes as opposed to practical ones
- Sera loves to read, and has spent most of her life reading, but since she is such a fast reader she often races through books and then is upset that it is over to the point of occasional tears.
