To anyone interested, you'd be making one of the rookie "divers" and can make whatever alien race you want to be or even be a cyborg, it's all up for grabs. ^_^ I am thinking a small group of maybe 5 of us at max? That would be a good number and those willing to dive into the rabbit hole with me... and yes, absolutely expect twists to this story!

She was always one of the last ones to pack up, letting a light sigh of relief escape her lips into the nip of the air. They had just finished a practice session of swordplay at SCA, and she got higher praise than usual today, having actually won all the bouts. The rush of adrenaline still waning in her veins, she looked out by the nearby forest. An oak forest by a field in the middle of fall was a special time for her - to see the orange leaves and the chill of winter coming. Tying together the last bits of leather to her blade and closing the truck, she locked the door with two beeps and started to make her stroll towards the oranges and reds, sending a wave to some others driving out of the parking lot.

The sound of grass was soothing, but when she drew closer and heard the fall leaves under her boots, she smiled and let the fantasy of the sight take her away. She recognized a while ago in her therapy why she had a draw to fantasy - an escape from all the horror she had been through and especially putting her shoes in that of a heroine. To have power instead of being powerless, but she was learning she had power in the real world. She was great at swordplay, and she could say no to bullies now, stand her ground. These days were definitely more peaceful, and it was a beautiful Friday afternoon.

The smell of the cold forest still seemed to have life to it, like a fresh rainstorm had passed by and kissed the trees. She always got lost in thought though, started imaging swinging her sword, guarding a princess, or fighting a sorcerer - silly things. Though, a gasp escaped her as she saw the image of a lake she had not found before! Lakes in forests always excited her. Something about fey and fantasy that revolved around both locations just made her smile as she took a small jog over to look at the water. Images swirled in her mind of elven maidens and airships, and part of her regretted leaving her sword back at the car!

A small giggle to herself, she looked up to see where the sun was, but caught a glimpse of a woman across the lake. There was a momentary freeze before she tilted her head a little in curiosity. She couldn't make out a lot from here, but there was something.. different about her. The skin seemed smooth, and she looked like a real beauty. Probably the most unusual thing was that she was dressed in a medieval gown, but Morgan didn't recognize her from SCA at all. Her eyes followed the figure leading up to the edge of the lake and looking down, holding something in a cloth.

Morgan could hardly believe her eyes when the woman just.. fell.. into the lake! Her eyes widened a little as scenarios went through her head, wondering if the woman was just taking a swim? But she just fell, holding something... was she going to drown herself!? Better safe than sorry as Morgan sprinted near the spot the woman had fallen under. She was still in the water, so Morgan threw her keys aside and dived in after - she'd be damned if someone died on her watch!

Swimming as fast as she could, she couldn't help but to slow her descent. The woman floating in the lake had turned to her with a look of worry and genuine concern, holding the clothed object towards her. Morgan couldn't understand what was going on, reaching out to grab at the object... the woman, she had elven ears. It wasn't just that, though - anyone could get those done if they found the right person and were determined enough. No, it was the shine in those eyes, the shimmer in her skin, the almost unearthly beauty of her shape. Were Morgan able to studder underwater, she would have, but before she could make heads or tails of anything, a flash blinded her for only but a second. The woman was gone! In a moment of confusion and panic, Morgan jetted back upwards to the surface.

As she broke it and splashed water onto the shore, she placed the clothed object on the sand and pulled herself from the water for a couple feet. What she found was even more mesmerizing as the light that spilled onto the scene before her was shaded in a pink, like some supernatural and beautiful sunrise. Its rays pierced the now unfamiliar trees and strange plants that seemed dotted across the ground, and it was humid and hot. So stunned by the shock of her scenery, she fell down, trying to process the jungle trees towering over her.

"Wh-what the fuck?..." Long moments were spent observing her surroundings, dumb-struck by where she was. Eventually, after some several minutes had passed, she looked down to the object and peeled away the cloth that clung to it, revealing a sword. It was absolutely unlike any sword she had ever laid her eyes on though, and it almost seemed to glow a subtle light of its own that reminded her of the sun, but not this pink light that was everywhere else. The hilt was in the shape of wings, going down to a red jewel in a golden-like metal, but it was definitely not gold. Awed by its very presence, she slowly pulled it from the sheath only for it to glow more brightly, forcing her lips to part in a gasp. "Th-there's- ... there's.. this can't be.... I-.. no..." She went silent then, trying to wrap her mind around all of this. Being a fan of fantasy books, the origin story of the hero being pulled into a fantasy world from the modern one wasn't exactly unknown, but there was no way that this was real.

Right?

Yes you can totally do that with the weapon. All that is fine. Just how would the elf who summoned her disappear? Monster? Drowning? A part of the story you know but we don't? It can be left unknown to your character of course.

Well, part of the reason for going this route was the similarity to Excalibur (though obviously not that)... in being that maybe the sword is something of legend or myth. How the elf disappears, as far as I'm concerned my character has no idea where she went to. That can be left at that or something that can be introduced later in the story, I think. What are your thoughts?

Hi there Lyla! Nice to meet you. I am well how are you?

I am glad you like our roleplay and we'd love for you to join, however, the idea seems a bit far from the plot and honestly confused me a little bit. Can we do instead that the girl stumbles upon a blade and gets taken through a rift like the other humans? She can even bring the blade if you want.

I am not sure what you mean by "the weapon acts as a catalyst for a magic befitting the blade" but you can have her imbue the weapon with the kinesis magic you choose with no issue. You can choose from earth, wind, fire, lightning, or water magic. As for the lake thing, she can be brought into an avalian lake where an elf is there to perhaps hand her the sword instead?

I like the way you think, but of course to be fair to the way the story is and the other human characters, you might have to level with us a little here and try to find a middle ground.

Nice to meet you Princess! I'm doing pretty well - been a while since I've been on the forums. ^_^ I don't mind compromising at all! Of course it's your guy's world and story I'm entering into, so I came with the expectation of working it out together, with the assumption the idea might be fitting!

My communication can be sometimes choppy - not on purpose mind you - but sometimes I don't always have the words to properly relay my thoughts. With the rift, you and I are on the same exact page... I had meant that as she dived into the lake, she was caught by the rift from this particular elf who then gives her the sword and then mysteriously vanishes (I'm a sucker for mysterious beginnings). When she comes back out of the lake, she is in Avalia.

To clear up, "the weapon acts as a catalyst for a magic befitting the blade", I had only meant that.. in truth.. I wasn't sure what magic would be most suited for her. I imagine her using the blade itself to channel the magic (for example, if it was lightning, she could imbue the sword with lightning or point it and shoot a bolt). This is probably where I need some help. I tend to like water a lot, but I'm a fan of fire and air too. ^_^

Hello! How is everyone? Hope everything is going great. ^_^ This role-play caught my eye and was curious if my character concept / inspiration would fit here - now feel free to say, "I'm sorry, but she really doesn't fit in this world". Believe me, I know it can be hard to have a concept and try and squeeze her in somewhere, so I won't be offended. The idea though is from the basis of the King Arthurian legend in that a girl stumbles upon an ancient blade that instead of getting the -kinesis powers humans usually get (I made sure to read before posting this!), the weapon acts as a catalyst for a magic befitting the blade. One of the images I had was something akin to her seeing a woman falling in a lake and diving after her only to realize it was an elven figure who, while floating, hands her the sword and she finds herself in Avalia. That's my idea so far anyways! I hope to hear from you soon, either way! I'm also on discord. ^_^
APER - Acute Prorogued Exposure and Reprocessing

The year is 3541 and humanity has found its way into a surprisingly stable culture and world peace - especially with the introduction of alien races and the Unified Republic that spans at least half of the galaxy. Human culture is wholly unique in the sense that it's embraced a cleaner though punkish look, which some historians would likely relate to "cyberpunk". If for nothing else, this often sets humans apart from many of the other races that sport softer buildings and less busy clothing styles often leading them to nickname humans as "busy" or less politely as "a swarm". Regardless of this, humans get along with other species fairly well in a chameleon-like fashion, being the social creatures they've always been. Generally speaking, all of this was possible due the awareness of mental health that especially wiped across the world in 2083.

Therapy is now considered to be as normal as a check-up, the human race as a whole agreeing that mental health being just as important as exercising. Though it hasn't and will never rule out the horrors that some people have gone through, after all mental checks are as voluntary as are physical ones, excluding the processing of particular jobs and their own requirements for employment. There has been a movement to attempt to legally force these mental checks, but a lot of people are on the fence about it, claiming freedom to go in when you need it suits a better environment to face issues.

A new technology has been developed recently called APER or Acute Prorogued Exposure and Reprocessing for those that have trouble or resisting other types of therapy - it is an intensive VR module that stimulates the mind into creating its environment and the traumas related there of. With the help of "divers", these individuals can have help facing these traumas in a direct and empowering way. The success rate so far as proven to be near 90% effective when other methods were close to 3% effective.

Wherever you come from, whatever your race is, whatever your experiences are - you're a rookie "diver". You've been through a few scenarios before and they are roughly the same. The mind of the patient paints a clear picture of the immediate surroundings until the area (room, mall, street, etc) becomes blurry. Depending on the patient, the trauma can be instantly visible while others take some detective work to understand the underlying issue that is present. So far you've been successful and with rather high praise, so your supervisor has recommended you for a special patient suffering from CPTSD (Complex Post Traumatic Disorder) who seems highly resistant to normal methods. The staff already has taking a liking to her for her sweetness and kind nature and somewhere along the line, someone has really pushed for her treatment. This is where you come in.

Hey guys, sorry. Might be better to move on - I was out of commission for a bit because of going to the ER for my eye and I have a couple (or a few) more medical visits to do for various things. My eye is okay now though! Doing a checkup tomorrow.
Hopefully you guys can be patient or it might be better to leave me out of this one - up to you collectively or the GM. I just started antidepressants and while it takes a little bit to take full effect, I have felt a little different. I'm not 100% depressed but it is making me a little sleepy and such and so finding time to write between chores, etc. has been hard.

If you guys are willing to wait, I can post this week but I won't be offended if you move on without me. I know how hard it can be to wait on one person. <3
