It's looking like my life is becoming a fair bit busier than I thought it would, so I think I need to quit the RP. Sorry.
Lilah lurked just out of sight, watching the others. She knew that she should introduce herself and start getting to know the people she would be working with, but it was hard. She hadn't really had friends her own age before; Mother had been not just her parent but her best friend as well. She smoothed her hands over her simple white dress, self-conscious. There were people in armour, she didn't have anything fancy like that. At least her ability to summon lightning meant she wouldn't have to get too close to do damage.

Finally she revealed herself, clasping her hands behind her back so that they wouldn't shake. "I have lightning magic," she offered, looking around cautiously, pausing to twitch her lips into a tentative smile at the slightly more familiar face of her roommate. "That should be useful against undead, right?"

She craned her neck to look curiously at the maps.
@Frettzo "Yes, I guess we are," said Lilah, her smile remaining the same. "I'm Lilah Regis, I'm going to be a witch hunter." It was so strange to say it out loud; for as long as she could remember she had heard scary stories about witch hunters and what they would do if they found out about her or Mother, and now here she was, becoming the nightmare.

She walked over to the free bed and put down her bags. She sighed quietly with relief not to be lugging them around anymore, although she had left most of her things behind. Everything had changed, after all, herself included, so there was no point in clinging to the past. That was what she told herself, anyway.

Her eyes narrowed slightly when she heard the announcement. "Hunters", "team", this was her life now, time to get used to it. She raised her chin, determined, and walked out through the door.
@Frettzo Sorry about that; I was sleeping and then I had work, I'll be replying now.
@Frettzo The door was closed when Lilah reached her new room. She hesitated, then raised her hand and knocked, putting on a polite smile that she hoped would cover her nerves. What type of person would she be rooming with? She hoped that it wasn't a witch hunter, even though she was training to be one herself.
@Frettzo Yes, sounds good.
Lilah took a deep, steadying breath. This is it.

She smoothed out her expression and stepped through the door. I'm going to survive, become a hunter, claim the power of a hunter. And then... And then, she honestly didn't know. What did she really want? Revenge? Understanding?

Well, there would be time to figure that out later. For now, she should focus on living.

"Well at least my mother is around, Helsing." That caught her attention. Her lips twisted into a sneer, she couldn't help it. As though a living mother somehow made one inherently superior.

She bit her lip to keep from laughing when the other boy punched the one who had spoken. She listened to his threat and thought that it wouldn't be such a bad thing if he made good on it. She was briefly surprised at herself, but then she thought that perhaps she shouldn't be.

She started up the stairs with a slight zest to her step that hadn't been there before. She still felt alone and threatened, but this might not be so bad in spite of that.
Name: Lilah Regis
Appearance:

Gender: Female
Age: 14
Type: Mage, Lightning Elemental
School: Witch Hunter
Magic/Weapon(s): Summon Lightning, which produces and directs lightning bolts. Electrical Charge, a more subtle spell that sends an electric current into whatever she is touching.
Bio: An only child who never knew her father, Lilah always felt close to her mother Melania, who was an unsanctioned witch and trained her in her magic from a young age. She lived in contentment, notwithstanding some difficulty connecting with her peers; their worlds were free of the wonder of magic and the danger presented by hunters. Her mother was the only one she could talk to about the way things really were.

It was when she was fourteen that the hunter came and everything changed. She arrived home from school just the same as she usually did. She wondered why the window was broken, but she didn't expect to find her mother sprawled in the kitchen, gasping her last breaths, a perfectly average-looking man raising his sword for the final blow. She just froze, unable to move as the sword fell in an instant. She cried out, then, and hurled lightning at the man, but she was so shaken that her aim went wild and set the table on fire instead. Panicking, she ran.

She was exhausted by the time the hunter found her. He said that his name was Michael and that he was sorry but Melania Regis was dangerous, had killed people. He made her an offer: train at a Hunter School and become a Key of Solomon and protect humanity. She looked at him and thought about how she was a witch and apparently the daughter of a murderer and the offer was no real choice at all, surely he would kill her if she said no.

“Yes,” she murmured, and then closed her eyes in surrender to her exhaustion.

I'm interested and have a character concept germinating.
